  • Can I access Spring session-scoped beans from application-scoped beans? How?

    I'm trying to make this 2-player web game application using Spring MVC. I have session-scoped beans Player and application-scoped bean GameList, which creates and stores Game instances and passes them to Players. On player creates a game and gets its ID from GameList and other player sends ID to GameList and gets Game instance. The Game instance has its players as attributes. Problem is that each player sees only himself instead of the other one. Example of what each player sees: First player (Alice) creates a game: Creator: Alice, Joiner: Empty Second player (Bob) joins the game: Creator: Bob, Joiner: Bob First player refreshes her browser Creator: Alice, Joiner: Alice What I want them to see is Creator: Alice, Joiner: Bob. Easy way to achieve this is saving information about players instead of references to players, but the game object needs to call methods on its player objects, so this is not a solution. I think it's because of aop:scoped-proxy of session-scoped Player bean. If I understand this, the Game object has reference to proxy, which refers to Player object of current session.   • Erratic behavior with XPS editing: what could be going wrong?

    Hello folks, I'm working on a class that annotates existing XPS documents. The problem I've been having is that some annotations randomly don't make it to the finished document. The following test code is supposed to draw a rectangle on every page. On random pages the rectangle does not appear. Upon inspection of the page XML, the tags for the rectangle are missing.     Hi, All i want is to pass a HTML-Form (DOM object) from javascript to Actionscript. i saw this article on the net and tried a similar code. But when i execute the code in IE, it alerts : "Out of memory at line 18". I'm stuck here from yesterday. i'll post the mxml and html here..   • ASP.NET site sometimes freezing up and/or showing odd text at top of the page while loading, on load

    I have various servers (dev, 2 x test, 2 x prod) running the same asp.net site. The test and prod servers are in load-balanced pairs (prod1 with prod2, and test1 with test2). The test server pair is exhibiting some kind of (super) slowdown or freezing during about one in ten page loads. Sometimes a line of text appears at the very top of the page which looks something like: 00 OK Date: Thu, 01 Apr 2010 01:50:09 GMT Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0 X-Powered_By: ASP.NET X-AspNet-Version:2.0.50727 Cache-Control:private Content-Type:text/html; charset=ut (the beginning and end are "cut off".) Has anyone seen anything like this before? Any idea what it means or what's causing it? Edit: I often see this too when clicking something - it comes up as red text on a yellow page: XML Parsing Error: not well-formed Location: http://203.111.46.211/3DSS/CompanyCompliance.aspx?cid=14 Line Number 1, Column 24:2mMTehON9OUNKySVaJ3ROpN" / -----------------------^ If I go back and click again, it works (I see the page I clicked on, not the above error message). Reversing the above (see the link) didn't work at first either. The ASP.NET tab disappeared from our IIS web site properties and we had to mess around for an hour uninstalling (aspnet_regiis.exe -u) and reinstalling 32 bit ASP.NET and adding Default.aspx manually back into default documents. We'll probably try again in a few days, if anyone has anything to add in the meantime, please do.

  • Andorid: the keyboard appeares when the app is started

    I have coded an Android application composed by a LinearLayout(with an editbox and a button) and a ScrollView(with a LinearLayout that contains a TextView). When the app is started the keyboard pops up immediatly and I don't want this to happen. Have you got some advice??   • Jboss logging issue

    I'm Working as deployer and server administrator. We use Jboss 4.0x AS to deploy our applications. The issue I'm facing is, Whenever we redeploy/restart the server, server.log is getting created but after sometime the logging goes off. Yes it is not at all updating the server.log file. Due to this, we could not trace the other critical issues we have. Actually we have two separate nodes and we do deploy/restarting the server separately on two nodes. We are facing the issue in both of our test and production environment. I could not trace out where exactly the issue is. Could you please help me in resolving the issue? If we have any other issues, we can check the log files. If log itself is not getting updated/logged, how can we move further in analyzing the issues without the recent/updated logs?   • Build path issues learning Guice

    I can't figure out why I'm getting this error below I have included all the appropriate jars as far as I can tell(I have included eclipses .classpath file below.) All of the classpath entries resolve just fine. What am I missing? The type javax.servlet.ServletContextListener cannot be resolved. For commands it works fine, they are enabling or disabling correctly. But when i try to disable view and open perspective, that contains that view (myproject.view.input), it opened without that view, but also throws exception: !STACK 1 org.eclipse.ui.PartInitException: Could not create view: myproject.view.input at org.eclipse.ui.internal.ViewFactory.createView(ViewFactory.java:158) I can show full stacktrace if anyone want. I tried to debug my application and before i open my perspective whith that view, i checked currentState of my CommandState source provider, and all seemes to be ok: all variables values are correct and myproject.view.input.active = DISABLED Can anyone say, why exception is thrown? Is binding to selectedItem flawed?

  • How do I prevent programmatically the "Program Compatibility Assistant" in Vista (and Windows 7) fro

    I develop a C++ program which might use adobe flash, although it is not essential. I use CoCreateInstance to create the flash object, and if it fails, I know flash is not installed so I don't use it. However, in Vista (and I think Windows 7 as well), when flash is not installed, after leaving the application, the "Program Compatibility Assistant" pops up a message saying that "This program requires a missing Windows component" specifying the flash.ocx. Is there a way to prevent this message from appearing? I don't want to force any user to install flash (especially since it's the IE ActiveX, and FireFox users might not have it installed), and my application can operate well without the flash. Plus this message is really annoying when it appears after every run. I don't mean of course disabling the PCA on the user's machine, but programmatically disable this specific appearance on all machines. Any thoughts?   • Set maven to use archiva repositories WITHOUT using activeByDefault?

    I am very close to finally having a working setup with archiva and maven. The last thing that's really boggling me, is how to set up my internal and snapshot repositories - without using a profile which contains activeByDefault set to true. I am using a SUPER super pom - a company-wide pom which contains distributionManagement information for releases. I was thinking that I could specify the repositories in this pom, and configure the authentication settings in settings.xml? Can I use repositories tag without a profile? There should be no "profile" for my internal and snapshot repositories, as they will never change... What I'm trying to steer clear from, is using a "default" profile, which is active all the time. I hear activeByDefault is NOT a best practice and I don't intend to use it. With that said, how should I go about doing this? My internal repo is a mirror of the maven central repo, so I would like to lock down my developers to ONLY use our internal artifact server. Remember - I do NOT want a profile with activeByDefault set to true. I cannot stress this enough! Should I use Maven mirrors? Should I "add" additional repositories? If I take the repositories tag instead of the mirrors tag, will maven force builds to use ONLY my archiva settings, instead of the default maven central? Or is what I seek to accomplish able to be done using only the mirrors tag in maven? I know how to configure repo credentials when using repositories tag, but not with mirrors. How is this done? Is providing credentials for anything in mirrors tags the same as for anything in repositories tags? Am I missing something obvious? I've had it up to here with getting things up and running using maven. I know it will be worthwhile in the end, but it is surely causing me a ton of aggravation and resources seem to be sparse. Either that, or people are content using it however they please without regard to best-practices. Thank you

    I have an odd issue with how msbuild is behaving with a VS2008 Web Deployment Project and would like to know why it seems to randomly misbehave. I need to remove a number of files from a deployment folder that should only exist in my development environment. The files have been generated by the web application during dev/testing and are not included in my Visual Studio project/solution. Or it will remove only one or two of the three folders in the DeleteAfterBuild item group. There seems to be no consistency in when the build process decides to remove the files or not. When I've edited the configuration to include only Folder 1 (for example), it removes all the files correctly. Then adding Folder 2 and 3, it starts removing all the files as I want. Then, seeming at random times, I'll rebuild the project and it won't remove any of the files! I have tried moving these items to the ExcludeFromBuild item group (which is probably where it should be) but it gives me the same unpredictable result. Has anyone experienced this? Am I doing something wrong? Why does this happen?

  • server|configuration problem, a php script just die with no error log & no reason

    Hi (first of all, thanks for your attention & sorry for my bad english hahaha also this is not a programming error, or thats what I think, I think this is an error in some configuration of the server or something else but I dont know what) I have a php script (is running like a process of linux, its not running on the web browser) that send SMS via SMPP on the port 2055 (using sockets in php) & then inserts like 10,000 rows into a dababase on MySQL, the script gets the data from a XML file; firts it was running in a shared server (Hostgator is our hosting provider) & at the begining it worked fine, with no trouble, but 5 months later an error appear, the process just die with no reason, the script only sent & inserted 700 rows in the table of the database & the process didnt show any warning or error, nothing appears in the error logs, & I didnt make any change in the script Hostgator never helped us hahaha so we decided to move the script from the shared server to a dedicated server; I thought it was a memory problem or something like that, but when we move the script to the dedicated server the problem just get worse, the script die when has just sent & inserted 40 to 50 rows to the database the information about this error: the shared server is on Red Hat 4.1.2-46 & the dedicated server is on CentOS 5.4 I have commented the line that sends the SMS, & the problem remains in the shared server, at the begining the script was fine, but then the script started to die when has just inserted 700 aprox. in the database, & now the script is dying when has inserted 2500 rows, its better but we didnt change anything in the dedicated server, the script dies when has just inserted like 40 row in the table the script, before it dies, change to a zombie process & we dont know why the usage of memory appears to be 0.3%, and of the cpu appears to be 0.7% to 1% I have changed the max memory limit of php to 128Mb, and even to -1 (so php wont have any limit) but the problem remains we have the limit of 50 connections of mysql at the same time, so I think this is not the problem Im using mysqli to connect from php to mysql Hostgator report that they haven't made any change or update in the servers what could be the problem?? what should I do??? what should I search??? is something in the logic Im missing?? what steps do I have to follow when managing & searching problems of process on Linux??? thank you very much, I think this is not a programming problem, but you have more experience than me, you can tell me thanks!!! bye!!! :)

    First, I want to say that I am not interested in debating about any non-helpful "answers" to my question, with suggestions to putting everything in one assembly, i.e. there is no need for anyone to provide webpages such as the page titled with "Separate Assemblies != Loose Coupling". Now, my question is if it somehow (maybe with some Visual Studio configuration to allow for circular project dependencies?) is possible to use one project/assembly (I am here calling it the "ServiceLocator" assembly) for retrieving concrete implementation classes, (e.g. with StructureMap) which can be referred to from other projects, while it of course is also necessary for the the ServiceLocator itself to refer to other projects with the interfaces and the implementations ?     Hi! The question is about your perception of programming activity. How hard/exacting this task is? There is much buzz about programming nowadays, people say that programmers are smart, very technical and abstract at a time, know much about world, psychology etc.. They say, that programmers got really powerful brain thing, cause there is much to keep in consideration simultaneously again with much information folded into each other associatively (up 10 levels of folding they say))) Still, there are some terms to specify at our own.. So that is the question: What do you think about programming in general? Is it hard? Is it 'for everyone' or for the particular kind of people only? How much non-CS background do you need to program (just to program, really; enterprise applications for example)? How long is the learning curve? (again, for programming in general) And another bunch of random questions: - If you were not to like/love programming, would that be a serious trouble bothering your current employment? - If you were to start from the beginning, would you chose that direction this time? - What other areas (jobs or maybe hobbies) are comparable to programming in the way they can explode someone's lovely brain? - Is 'non turing-complete programming' (SQL, XML, etc.) comparable to what we do or is it really way easier, less requiring, cheap and akin to cooking :)? Well, the essence is: How would you describe programming activity WRT to its difficulty? Or, on the other hand: Did you ever catch yourself thinking at some point: OMG, it's sooo hard! I don't know how would I ever program, even carried away this way and doing programming just for fun? It's very interesting to know your opinion, your'e the programmers after all. I mean much people must be exaggerating/speculating about the thing they do not really know about.   • Reliable and fast way to convert a zillion ODT files in PDF?

    I need to pre-produce a million or two PDF files from a simple template (a few pages and tables) with embedded fonts. Usually, I would stay low level in a case like this, and compose everything with a library like ReportLab, but I joined late in the project. Currently, I have a template.odt and use markers in the content.xml files to fill with data from a DB. I can smoothly create the ODT files, they always look rigth. For the ODT to PDF conversion, I'm using openoffice in server mode (and PyODConverter w/ named pipe), but it's not very reliable: in a batch of documents, there is eventually a point after which all the processed files are converted into garbage (wrong fonts and letters sprawled all over the page). Problem is not predictably reproducible (does not depend on the data), happens in OOo 2.3 and 3.2, in Ubuntu, XP, Server 2003 and Windows 7. My Heisenbug detector is ticking. I tried to reduce the size of batches and restarting OOo after each one; still, a small percentage of the documents are messed up. Of course I'll write about this on the Ooo mailing lists, but in the meanwhile, I have a delivery and lost too much time already. Where do I go? Completely avoid the ODT format and go for another template system. Suggestions? Anything that takes a few seconds to run is way too slow. OOo takes around a second and it sums to 15 days of processing time. I had to write a program for clustering the jobs over several clients. Keep the format but go for another tool/program for the conversion. Which one? There are many apps in the shareware or commercial repositories for windows, but trying each one is a daunting task. Some are too slow, some cannot be run in batch without buying it first, some cannot work from command line, etc. Open source tools tend not to reinvent the wheel and often depend on openoffice. Converting to an intermediate .DOC format could help to avoid the OOo bug, but it would double the processing time and complicate a task that is already too hairy. Try to produce the PDFs twice and compare them, discarding the whole batch if there's something wrong. Although the documents look equal, I know of no way to compare the binary content. Restart OOo after processing each document. it would take a lot more time to produce them it would lower the percentage of the wrong files, and make it very hard to identify them. Go for ReportLab and recreate the pages programmatically. This is the approach I'm going to try in a few minutes. Learn to properly format bulleted lists Thanks a lot.

  • Grails validateable not work for non-persistent domain class

    I followed the instruction here: http://www.grails.org/doc/latest/guide/7.%20Validation.html and added into config.groovy: grails.validateable.classes = [liningtest.Warm'] Then added in src/groovy/Warm.groovy (it's a non-persistent domain class): package liningtest import org.codehaus.groovy.grails.validation.Validateable class Warm { String name; int happyCite; Warm(String n, int h) { this.name = n; this.happyCite = h; } static constraints = { name(size: 1..50) happyCite(min: 100) } } But it just doesn't work (both "blank false" & "size: 0..25") for the "hasErrors" function. It always returns false, even when the name is 25. Is this a Grails bug, if yes, is there any work-around? I'm using Grails 1.3.3 UPDATE: I have updated the simplified code. And now I know that constraint "size" can't be used with "blank", but still does not work.   • why cant I more than two values from 3 different tables in one query

    This is strange. In the news details page, I want to take a few different values from different tables with one query. However, for some strange reason, I only get two values back. Same things happens with others.
