The solution is done using the ASP.Net MVC 4 and VisualStudio 2012. The article assumes the developer to have a fair amount of knowledge on ASP.Net MVC and C#. Tools Used Visual Studio 2012 ASP.Net MVC 4 Nuget Package Manager JQGrid  is one of the client grid framework built on top of the JQuery framework. It helps in building a beautiful grid with paging, sorting and exiting options. There are also other features available as extension plugins and developers can write their own if needed. You can download the JQgrid from the  JQGrid  homepage or as NUget package. I have given below the command to download the JQGrid through the package manager console. From the tools menu select “Library Package Manager” and then select “Package Manager Console”. I have given the screenshot below. This command will pull down the latest JQGrid package and adds them in the script folder. Once the script is downloaded and referenced in the project update the bundleconfig file to add the script reference in the pages. We will use this table for making the grid. Since JQGrid is an extension for the JQUery we will initialize the grid setting at the  script  section of the page. An inmemory list collection is used for demo purpose. The  GetCustomerDetailsmethod is the server side action method that will provide the data as JSON list. We will see the method explanation below. It’s used to indicate for PDF download. When the application starts this method is first hit for initial page request. For PDF operation a filename is generated and then sent to the  ExportPDF  method which will take care of generating the PDF from the datasource. It’s an opensource library readily available as NUget library. This command will pulldown latest available library. I am using the version 4.1.2.0. The latest version may have changed. There are three main things in this library. Document This is the document class which takes care of creating the document sheet with particular size. We have used A4 size. There is also an option to define the rectangle size. This document instance will be further used in next methods for reference. PdfWriter PdfWriter takes the filename and the document as the reference. This class enables the document class to generate the PDF content and save them in a file. Font Using the FONT class the developer can control the font features. Since I need a nice looking font I am giving the Verdana font. Following this PdfPTable and PdfPCell are used for generating the normal table layout. We have created two set of fonts for header and footer. Font headerFont=FontFactory .GetFont(“Verdana”, 10, Color .WHITE); Font rowfont=FontFactory .GetFont(“Verdana”, 10, Color .BLUE);   We are getting the header columns as string array. Columns argument array is looped and header is generated. We are using the headerfont for this purpose. Then the control moves to the controller which will take care of sending the response as a JSON result with a filename. If the file name is not given then the PDF will open in the same page otherwise a popup will open up asking whether to save the file or open file. Return File(filePath, “application/pdf”,“list.pdf”);   The final result screen is shown below. PDF file opened below to show the output. Conclusion: This is how the export pdf is done for JQGrid. The problem area that is addressed here is the clientside grid frameworks won’t support PDF’s export. In that time it’s better to have a fine grained control over the data and generated PDF. iTextSharp has helped us to achieve our goal.

  Before anything else, I'd like to emphasize that I've already read this and this. Here's what I can do: First choice: create classical web version with all products in that page - http://www.myweb.com. create mobile web version with all products in the page and use jQuery Mobile to format all nicely but this may be long to (load + format), and may provide bad user experience - http://m.myweb.com. Second choice: create classical web version with all products in that page create mobile web version with almost nothing but a Web page showing wait, then download all products in the page using AJAX and use jQuery Mobile to format all nicely. Showing a wait, loading message gives far more time to do whatever I want and may provide better user experience - http://m.myweb.com. Question: if I choose the second solution, Google won't read anything on the mobile version (because all products will be downloaded in the page using AJAX), so it wont be properly read by crawlers. What / how shall I do?

  My brother has come up with an interesting business idea that could be commercialised. For over a month I have been creating the foundation for SaaS. I have been treating this as commercial project so designing using patterns and best practices. One of the reasons I want to include this in my Resume is my full time job doesn't involve current trendy ASP.Net technologies (e.g Linq/Entity Relationships, jQuery, ASP.Net MVC 3, Silverlight, etc) so the resume lacks impact. In my full time job I work on a 7 year old well designed product and since our data and web layers work well it would be stupid to re-engineer them only because recruiters think Linq, ASP.Net MVC and jQuery are cool. How can I include my personal project in Resume so that it doesn't sound like experiment or quick'n'dirty pet project? Many thanks.

The real issue at hand is whether or not to use new to create instances of your objects or to use patterns which do not require constructors of the use of the new keyword.   The requirement is to have either front end plug-in or back end processor that generates the preview of contents (such as images, videos, PDF files, HTML pages) in a preview popup when user mouse hovers the content. I did some research on this, seems that there are assorted jquery plugins for each type of files, but what we are looking for is a framework that handles all types of file previews. Ideally, we want to generate preview images on the backend, considering the cost of retrieving content on front end. I did find some open source or proprietary CMS that provides this feature, but usually they are shipped as one suite and the API for file preview might not be open.   Hi I have recently started to learn C#/ASP.NET WebForms and after reading two books I thought I was ready to create my first web application. Problem is I could not have been more wrong. Although I am not quite a beginner as a programmer and have done some programming in Java (a Monopoly game), JavaScript (using jQuery), and PHP (create templates for WordPress), I never really created something that is database driven, and I can't seem to figure where to start. I am very confident in my HTML/CSS/jQuery skills, so that is not the problem. My end goal after becoming comfortable in ASP.NET WebForms is to learn MVC, ADO.NET, and the Entity Framework, and start a career as a .NET developer. I would like if someone could tell me some tutorials that build ASP.NET WebForms applications, such as a blog, so I can see what are the steps in creating an ASP.NET WebForms database driven application. I already have to projects in mind for ASP.NET. One is building a blog and the other building a job board.

Currently I am navigating around my website using GET variables in PHP when you want go to another page, so I am always loading the index.php file. Obviously this is not the only way to go about it and I can't find the proper way to do it because I'm sure websites don't link style sheets in every file as that would be very bad if you changed a file name or needed to add another file you would have to change it in every file.   I have a Fantasy F1 Website, currently users select their teams using dropdown menus. It works OK but isn't as user friendly as I would like. I would like to implement a drag and drop type of system, there's jQuery code out there that would go part of the way to allowing me to do this: http://jqueryui.com/demos/draggable/ But I am not sure about how to integrate that into PHP and MySQL, my jQuery skills are limited! I'd also need to stop them spending more than a certain amount of money, each driver has a value and the teams can only spend a certain amount of money. Finally, how would you decide that the user had picked their team, I don't want a submit button as that kind of defeats the object of the exercise!   My jqGrid that does a great job of pulling data from my database, but I'm having trouble understanding how the Add New Row functionality works. Right now, I'm able to edit inline data, but I'm not able to create a new row using the Modal Box. I'm missing that extra logic that says, "If this is a new row, post this to the server side URL" instead of modifying existing data. (Right now, hitting Submit only clears the form and reloads the grid data.) The documentation states that Add New Row is: jQuery("#editgrid").jqGrid('editGridRow',"new",{height:280,reloadAfterSubmit:false}); but I'm not sure how to use that correctly. I've spent alot of time studying the Demos, but they seem to all use an external button to fire the new row command, rather than using the Modal Form, which I want to do.   Using an ajax helper created for use with Jquery I've created a form that posts comments to "/comments/add", and this works as expected on my local wamp server but not on my production server. On my production server I get a '404 error, cannot find /comments/add'. I've spent quite a bit of time searching for a resolution with no luck so far. I've focused on trying to identify a gap but nothing jumps out at me.   I'm attempting to install Visual Studio 2008 Professional from an ISO file downloaded from the msdn site, using DAEMON Tools Lite to Mount. On installation I'm getting the following error: Setup has encountered a problem while trying to copy: F:\Setup\VSSetupWatson\DW20.EXE I've had a look online for a solution and was recommended to reboot my system, however this has not helped. Why is this happening and how can I resolve the setup error?
