• OS X contains heapsort in stdlib.h which conflicts with heapsort in sort library

  I'm using Ariel Faigon's sort library, found here: http://www.yendor.com/programming/sort/ I was able to get all my code working on Linux, but unfortunately, when trying to compile with GCC on Mac, its default stdlib.h contains another heapsort, which unfortunately results in a conflicting types error. Here's the man page for Apple heapsort: http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/man3/heapsort.3.html Commenting out the heapsort in the sort library header causes a whole heap of problems. (pardon the pun) I also briefly thought of commenting out my use of stdlib.h, but I use malloc and realloc, so that won't work at all. Any ideas?

  Hi all, I have a J2EE application that needs some extensive integration testing. I am using Jmeter to generate HTTP POST requests. So far I manage to send them to the server correctly but the xml is static. I am looking for a way to insert dynamic/random values into the XML and then send it to the server. Something like a PreProcessor but I am not sure how it is done. Can anyone provide: 1. JMeter tutorials? 2. How to generate dynamic/random xml content to HTTP request 3. • Is there anything for Python that is like readability.js?

  Hi, I'm looking for a package / module / function etc. that is approximately the Python equivalent of Arc90's readability.js http://lab.arc90.com/experiments/readability http://lab.arc90.com/experiments/readability/js/readability.js so that I can give it some input.html and the result is cleaned up version of that html page's "main text". I want this so that I can use it on the server-side (unlike the JS version that runs only on browser side). Any ideas? PS: I have tried Rhino + env.js and that combination works but the performance is unacceptable it takes minutes to clean up most of the html content :( (still couldn't find why there is such a big performance difference).

• PHP app with cookie less session does not work

  I am trying to use PHP session without using cookies. I have enabled session.use_trans_sid and disabled session.use_cookies in my php.ini file. I have also disabled cookies in my firefox browser. Now, when I browse my home page, I do not see the HTTP set cookie header in the server response to my page request (using Live HTTP headers). My understanding is that PHP will append session IDs to my request URL when cookies are disabled. Am I doing something wrong? BTW, I am aware using session IDs is not a recommended approach.

• Linq to xml not able to add new elements

  We save our xml in a "text" field in the database. So first I check if it exist any xml, if not I create a new xdocument, fill it with the necessary xml. else i just add the new element. Code looks like this: XDocument doc = null; if (item.xmlString == null || item.xmlString == "") { doc = new XDocument(new XDeclaration("1.0", "utf-8", "yes"), new XElement("DataTalk", new XAttribute(XNamespace.Xmlns + "xsi", "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"), new XAttribute(XNamespace.Xmlns + "xsd", "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"), new XElement("Posts", new XElement("TalkPost")))); } else { doc = XDocument.Parse(item.xmlString); } This is working alright to create a structure, but then the problem appears, when I want to add new TalkPost. I get an error saying incorrectly structured document. The following code when adding new elements: doc.Add(new XElement("TalkPost", new XElement("PostType", newDialog.PostType), new XElement("User", newDialog.User), new XElement("Customer", newDialog.Customer), new XElement("PostedDate", newDialog.PostDate), new XElement("Message", newDialog.Message)));

• WCF - Dynamically Change WebResponseFormat

  Is there a way to dynamically change the WebResponseFormat on a method given a parameter passed by the client? I default my WebResponseFormat to XML, but I want to give the client the opportunity to specify a format as JSON or XML and if none is specified, default to XML. Currently I am doing the following: [WebGet(UriTemplate = "objects", BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.Bare)] [OperationContract] List<SampleObject> GetObjects(); The user can call it via: http://localhost/rest/myservice/objects They then can specify a format by doing: http://localhost/rest/myservice/objects?format=json The problem is that when I try to set the response content type via: WebOperationContext.Current.OutgoingResponse.ContentType = "application/json"; That just returns the XML but the browser attempts to process it like a JSON object instead of serializing the response as JSON. Is this even possible with .NET 3.5 outside of using a Stream as the return value and serializing the response myself? If not, is there a better solution?

  I'd like all my content to flow around an image. To do this, I simply did img#me { width: 300px; float: left; margin-right: 30px; } This works for text wraping, but other elements go behind it. For example <style> h2 { background: black; color: white; } </style> <img id="me" src="http://paultarjan.com/paul.jpg" /> <h2>Things!</h2> Then the h2 background flows right past the 30px margin. • WCF service with 2 Bindings and 2 Base Addresses

  I have written a WCF service (I am a newb) that I want to provide 2 endpoints for (net.tcp & basicHttp) The problem comes when I try to configure the endpoints. If I configure them as seperate services, then my service names are the same which causes a problem.   I have read a few articles mentioning converters from one language to another. I'm a bit more than skeptical about the use of such kind of tools. Does anyone know or have experiences let's say about Visual Basic to Java or vs converters? Just one example to pick http://www.tvobjects.com/products/products.html, claims to be the "world leader" or so in that aspect, However if read this: http://dev.mysql.com/tech-resources/articles/active-grid.html There the author states: "The consensus of MySQL users is that automated conversion tools for MS Access do not work. For example, tools that translate existing Access applications to Java often result in 80% complete solutions where finishing the last 20% of the work takes longer than starting from scratch." Well we know we need 80% of the time to implement the first 80% functionality and another 80% of the time for the other 20 %.... So has anyone tried such tools and found them to be worthwhile?

  Hi, i have a .net mobile web site where i use sesion state and due to nature of mobile networks/phones (not all supports session cookies) i had to use <sessionState cookieless="AutoDetect"/> It works fine but because each new session redirected with "AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1" i have a feeling that google won't like this. Here is a small sample from my server logs supportForumReadTopic.aspx id=38 80 - 66.249.71.80 Mozilla/5.0+(compatible;+Googlebot/2.1;++http://www.google.com/bot.html) 302 supportForumReadTopic.aspx id=38&AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1 Mozilla/5.0+(compatible;+Googlebot/2.1;++http://www.google.com/bot.html) 200 As you see each new hit from google will get 302 to itself. I have a genericmozilla5.browser file where i define google bot as cookie supporting browser in order to get .net not to use cookieless urls but not sure how this 302 would effect me. Any one had smilar exprience? Any ideas? Suggestions? Thanks

And what I need to provide is just the url of the spreadsheet.   Perhaps it's a syntax error, but I never assume that. I have a -dead- simple AJAX test set up: http://www.mcphersonindustries.com/bucket/api.php is a file with simply: <?php echo "test"; ?> And I have Apache as localhost with this jQuery bit running: $(document).ready(function() { function doAjaxPost() { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://www.mcphersonindustries.com/bucket/api.php", data: "null", success: function(resp){ console.log("Response: '" + resp + "'"); }, error: function(e){ console.log('Error: ' + e); } }); } doAjaxPost(); }); So Firebug spits out Response: '' each time, but nothing's coming through the request.   uploading multiple files from client to server with asp.net I have been looking at the asp.net upload control but that is for one file (unless someone knows a better way to do it). http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.webcontrols.fileupload.aspx For what I want to do I don't even really need a browse. I know the files off of the client are at a certain location. Is it possible to create a collection of *HttpPostedFile*s and upload those? http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.httppostedfile.aspx I don't think it is possible but would be glad to be proven wrong. Is there a different asp.net method or control that will easily allow uploading multiple files from client to server?

  Hi. After spending SEVERAL frustrated hours on this I am asking for your help. I am trying to get the content of particular nodes from a SOAP response. It seems that the line $XmlArray = new SimpleXMLElement($XmlStr); is not doing what I expect it to. Any help on how to get the nodes from the XML above would be very welcome. Obviously getting it to work (having a working example) is what I need in the short term, but if someone could help me understand what I am doing wrong would be better in the long term. Cheers. Stu

• problem running system.net.webclient and process.start off a control event

  The following code causes my vs 2008 wpf project to hang, I'm not sure why. Both Part 1 and Part 2 work perfectly fine independently, but when I run them together on an control event (click a button for example) the program hangs. I've also tried shell execute for part 2 - same results. However, this code when run within the form loaded event works fine. Any insights would be truly appreciated.
