  • backup aws ec2 to separate account

    I want to backup my AWS snapshots to a completely separate AWS account for additional security (if my AWS credentials were acquired someone could delete all my snapshots and volumes). But I'm a bit stumped on how to do this. There doesn't seem to be a way to store a volume or snapshot in S3 such that another user could access that data in s3 and store it in a separate AWS account. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to acheive this? Thanks

    Essentially, I want the Ubuntu pre-10.10 behaviour back. The setuid method (see notes) does not work anymore. I search a lot on the Internet, but I haven't found a satisfying solution. I have read a solution that involves editing the sudoers file (ALL ALL=NOPASSWD:/sbin/mount.cifs). But then, the users would also be able to specify a directory as a mount-point they normally would not have access to, right? This is not what I want.

    I Backed up my site then totally re-did my server with a different Control Panel which created a different directory structure /var/www/vhosts/user/site.com/httpdocs I put the files into the httpdocs folder and put the database back correctly (I think) I can see the main page but clicking on any links gets me a Not Found Message I have tried running update.php and I cannot access /user/login either.

    Could someone please explain in general terms how I'd configure a Cisco 1841 (2x ethernet ports) to route a public /29 address block (6 hosts) to my internal network. I wish to give the Cisco router one public IP and then several of my internal Windows servers will receive the other public IP addresses. Other hosts behind the router will access Internet via NAT. I'm a bit confused as I've only ever setup routers/firewalls that had a single public IP address with NAT and port forwarding to internal servers.

If I log into guest account and search my name it shows an error that i don't have permission. When i log into my roommate's standard account and go to the start menu I put my name in search and everything I have done or searched is open to them .     I'm currently generating documentation on one machine, and publishing it to a web server using the following commands in a script: net use "\\someShare" PASSWORD /user:username del /S /Q "\\someShare" xcopy /E /Y Documentation\html\* "\\someShare\" However, it feels like a really bad idea to have a password as plain text in the script, so I'm looking for alternatives to my current solution. Ideas? I definitely would appreciate a solution that uses some kind of access control, as many different people should be allowed to publish their own documentation to the web server, but not mess with each other's docs.

My question is can I switch over to Ubuntu, keep my Windows partition and use VirtualBox to access the pre-existing Windows partition?     Not a linux geek I am looking for a recommendation which Linux distro to use for a hyper-v based hosting envfironment (so access to the enlightment part easily is important). I Would also love to have something that alloows me to split operating system read only files and user files easily without too much tinkering onto two discs, so that the boot disc can be read only. (reasoning: This would allow me to set up a read only disc that is shared between multiple server instances, with the server disc only containing basically the user files)

But all the GUi tests are failed, when GUI tests are running locally(WINXP system) testst are passed.   • Seem to have banned my IP from my server

    I can't seem to figure out the problem. I've checked the deny list in CSF, and even stopped it completely, as well IPTables. Somehow I'm still blocked from accessing my server. Currently I can access it from other IPs, so I'm pretty sure that's the problem (though I could be wrong, of course. I'm no expert) So any suggestions on what it might be, and how I could fix it, would be heavily appreciated.

    I have apache installed on my ubuntu machine. you can access the server from other machines with http://linux-server The local path on the machine is /var/www I have installed vsftpd on the machine as well so I can ftp to the server from another machine with ftp://linux-server however it takes me to /home/myUserName I want the ftp to take me to the same place as the http. So how can I change the FTP path? Thanks!

So I figured, I can install Cygwin and through that install Grub, but I am used to Linux Mint, which uses apt-get. I have used CentOS before which uses rpm, but how do I install and use packages in the Cygwin terminal, and is it possible to install Grub through Cygwin?

    On Windows Vista, I right-click on a folder, Properties, Sharing tab, and either "Advanced Sharing" or "Share"-"Share" causes an error: Windows File Sharing This program will not run Access is denied. Close My user account is an "administrator" on this machine. I think this behavior changed since my computer was added to the new domain recently. I have other folders shared (from long ago), and they continue to be shared just fine.
