Each group contains some specific features, e.g., support for story points, writing of acceptance tests, etc. Which features of user story management should an agile team look for especially when switching from tangible tools (index cards, pin boards and big visible charts) to a software tool? Filter first: PowerView is your best friend Powerview is an often ignored feature of My Oracle Support that enables you to control the information displayed on the Dashboard, the Knowledge tab and regions, and the Service Request tab based on one or more parameters. You can define a PowerView to limit information based on product, product line, support ID, platform, hostname, system name and others. Using PowerView allows you to restrict: Your search results to the filters you have set The product list when selecting your products in Search & Browse and when creating service requests   The PowerView menu is at the top of My Oracle Support, near the title You turn PowerView on by clicking PowerView is Off, which is a button. When PowerView is On, and filters are active, clicking the button again will toggle Powerview off. Click the arrow to the right to create new filters, edit filters, remove a filter, or choose from the list of previously created filters. You can create a PowerView in 3 simple steps! Turn PowerView on and select New from the PowerView menu. Select your filter from the Select Filter Type dropdown list and make selections from the other two menus.   • CI tests to enforce specific development rules - good practice?

    The following is all purely hypothetical and any particular portion of it may or may not accurately describe real persons or situations, whether living, dead or just pretending. Let's say I'm a senior dev or architect in charge of a dev team working on a project. This project includes a security library for user authentication/authorization of the application under development. The library must be available for developers to edit; however, I wish to "trust but verify" that coders are not doing things that could compromise the security of the finished system, and because this isn't my only responsibility I want it to be done in an automated way. As one example, let's say I have an interface that represents a user which has been authenticated by the system's security library. The interface exposes basic user info and a list of things the user is authorized to do (so that the client app doesn't have to keep asking the server "can I do this?"), all in an immutable fashion of course. There is only one implementation of this interface in production code, and for the purposes of this post we can say that all appropriate measures have been taken to ensure that this implementation can only be used by the one part of our code that needs to be able to create concretions of the interface. The coders have been instructed that this interface and its implementation are sacrosanct and any changes must go through me. However, those are just words; the security library's source is open for editing by necessity. Any of my devs could decide that this secured, private, hash-checked implementation needs to be public so that they could do X, or alternately they could create their own implementation of this public interface in a different library, exposing the hashing algorithm that provides the secure checksum, in order to do Y. I may not be made aware of these changes so that I can beat the developer over the head for it. An attacker could then find these little nuggets in an unobfuscated library of the compiled product, and exploit it to provide fake users and/or falsely-elevated administrative permissions, bypassing the entire security system. This possibility keeps me awake for a couple of nights, and then I create an automated test that reflectively checks the codebase for types deriving from the interface, and fails if it finds any that are not exactly what and where I expect them to be. I compile this test into a project under a separate folder of the VCS that only I have rights to commit to, have CI compile it as an external library of the main project, and set it up to run as part of the CI test suite for user commits. Now, I have an automated test under my complete control that will tell me (and everyone else) if the number of implementations increases without my involvement, or an implementation that I did know about has anything new added or has its modifiers or those of its members changed. I can then investigate further, and regain the opportunity to beat developers over the head as necessary. Is this considered "reasonable" to want to do in situations like this? Am I going to be seen in a negative light for going behind my devs' backs to ensure they aren't doing something they shouldn't?

  • Error loading libGL.so.1

    When attempting to run various pieces of software (notably Steam and Yenka), I have come across an error similar to this: enter code here error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I'm running a 64 bit system, with an NVidia Optimus card (I dual boot for certain windows only software that requires a dedicated graphics card). I have bumblebee installed, and I am using the nvidia-current driver, rather that one downloaded from NVidia, as recommended. The library (libGL.so.1) is not present in the top directory of /usr/lib, however it is present in /usr/lib32/nvidia-current, as a softlink to /usr/lib32/nvidia-current/libGL.so.304.64. A section of the output from ldconfig -p: libGL.so.1 (libc6,x86-64, OS ABI: Linux 2.4.20) => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1 libGL.so (libc6,x86-64, OS ABI: Linux 2.4.20) => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so libGL.so (libc6,x86-64, OS ABI: Linux 2.4.20) => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so Obviously a library with that name is being loaded, but they are located in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu, however installed software doesn't seem to able to 'see' it. For Steam, running it with optirun causes it to work, but this is not the case for Yenka. I assume that optirun causes the library stored in /usr/lib32/nvidia-current to be used, which allows Steam to run, so I can't understant why Yenka won't run. Can anyone explain why software can't see the normal mesa library, and why Yenka refuses to run with the nvidia-current library?

  • Using HTML5 Today part 3&ndash; Using Polyfills

    Shims helps when adding semantic tags to older IE browsers, but there is a huge range of other new HTML5 features that having varying support on browsers.  Polyfills are JavaScript code and/or browser plug-ins that can provide older or less featured browsers with API support.  The best polyfills will detect the whether the current browser has native support, and only adds the functionality if necessary.  The Douglas Crockford JSON2.js library is an example of this approach: if the browser already supports the JSON object, nothing changes.  If JSON is not available, the library adds a JSON property in the global object. This approach provides some big benefits: It lets you add great new HTML5 features to your web sites sooner. It lets the developer focus on writing to the up-and-coming standard rather than proprietary APIs. Where most one-off legacy code fixes tends to break down over time, well done polyfills will stop executing over time (as customer browsers natively support the feature) meaning polyfill code may not need to be tested against new browsers since they will execute the native methods instead. Your should also remember that Polyfills represent an entirely separate code path (and sometimes plug-in) that requires testing for support.  Also Polyfills tend to run on older browsers, which often have slower JavaScript performance.  As a result you might find that performance on older browsers is not comparable. When looking for Polyfills you can start by checking the Modernizr GitHub wiki or the HTML5 Please site. For an example of a polyfill consider a page that writes a few geometric shapes on a <canvas> <script src="jquery-1.7.1.min.js"><script> <script> $(document).ready(function () { drawCanvas(); }); function drawCanvas() { var context = $("canvas")[0].getContext('2d'); //background context.fillStyle = "#8B0000"; context.fillRect(5, 5, 300, 100); // emptybox context.strokeStyle = "#B0C4DE"; context.lineWidth = 4; context.strokeRect(20, 15, 80, 80); // circle context.arc(160, 55, 40, 0, Math.PI * 2, false); context.fillStyle = "#4B0082"; context.fill(); </script>   The result is a simple static canvas with a box & a circle:   …to enable this functionality on a pre-canvas browser we can find a polyfill.  A check on html5please.com references  FlashCanvas.  Pull down the zip and extract the files (flashcanvas.js, flash10canvas.swf, etc) to a directory on your site.  Then based on the documentation you need to add a single line to your original HTML file: <!--[if lt IE 9]><script src="flashcanvas.js"></script><![endif]—> …and you have canvas functionality!  The IE conditional comments ensure that the library is only loaded in browsers where it is useful, improving page load & processing time. Like all Polyfills, you should test to verify the functionality matches your expectations across browsers you need to support.  For instance the Flash Canvas home page advertises 70% support of HTML5 Canvas spec tests.

    I tried to install mysql-connector-c recipe via homebrew, and it builds just fine, but produces x86_64 library: $file ~/brew/lib/libmysql.dylib .../brew/lib/libmysql.dylib: Mach-O 64-bit dynamically linked shared library x86_64 I however need i386 library for my project. I tried to give it CFLAGS and LDFLAGS like this: CFLAGS="-arch i386 -arch x86_64" LDFLAGS="-arch i386 -arch x86_64" brew install mysql-connector-c but nothing changes - it still builds x86_64 only binary. Is there any way to make homebrew build either dual arch library or i386 library? I have kernel architecture set to x86_64, if it matters.

I'm having this error message while running ./configure: checking for gsl-config... no checking for GSL - version >= 1.0... no *** The gsl-config script installed by GSL could not be found *** If GSL was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in *** your path, or set the GSL_CONFIG environment variable to the *** full path to gsl-config. configure: error: could not find required gsl library I checked and I have the GSL already installed: :~/Programas/ape-2.2.0$ dpkg -l | grep gsl ii libgsl0ldbl 1.16+dfsg-1ubuntu1 i386 GNU Scientific Library (GSL) -- library package So I have the library but the program installation isn't finding it. Any help? Thanks in advance

    It's important for developers and systems administrators to either make the transition over to Java SE 7 or to work with Oracle to get updates via the Java SE Support program. Have you updated to Java SE 7? Along with great features (Fork/Join, NIO, Project Coin), Java SE 7 is being updated and patched regularly. Java SE 7 has been out for over a year and is ready to download.  The last publicly available release of Oracle JDK 6 is to be released in February, 2013. This means that after 19 February 2013, all new security updates, patches and fixes for Java SE 6 and Java SE 5 will only be available through My Oracle Support and will thus require a commercial license with Oracle.    In the event you are not ready to migrate to Java SE 7, Oracle offers: Java SE Support for continued access to critical bug fixes and security fixes as well as general maintenance for JDK 6. Additionally, Java SE Advanced and Suite offers superior diagnostics and manageability tools that minimize the costs of deployment, monitoring and maintenance of Java-based IT environments. The Java SE Support Roadmap reflects an updated timeline for the End of Public Updates for JDK 6. The End of Public Updates date has been extended from November 2012 to February 2013, to allow some more time for the transition to JDK 7. Older releases of Java SE 6 will still be available on the Java SE archive, but will require a commercial license with Oracle for any new security updates, patches and fixes.  Th End of Public Updates for Java SE 6 will not impact the usage, availability, patching of Java SE 6 used for Fusion Middleware 11g and 12c.     So Microsoft has stated that Internet Explorer 9, the first version of IE with wide support for HTML5 (including CSS3), will not be available on Windows XP. Given that Windows XP is still the dominant PC operating system, are web developers doomed to a prolonged future of supporting another inferior (in terms of supported features) yet stubborn browser. Does the fact that Microsoft will support XP until April of 2014 and will never support IE9 on XP mean that IE8 will be the dominant browser for the next three years?

  • Does a code inherit GNU GPL if it just link to GPL librrary?

    Sorry for bad English. Suppose there is a library xxx under GNU GPL, that provide a function yyy. Suppose my code links to the library and use this function. Does my code inherit GPL license? IANAL, but my thoughts are conflicting: On other hand, my code is derivative from the library, so it should inherit GPL. On other hand, my code just use link to the xxx. Maybe there are other libraries, that has the same interface (particularly, they provide yyy function with same functionality, but different implementation). My code may link to any. My code really doesn't directly derived from xxx, it just use its interface. So, my code shouldn't inherit GPL. I'm confused. ADDED. The question is absolutely abstract. I don't mean any concrete GPL library.
