• Which is the most memory leak safe approach.

  I have a table of frequently updated information. This is presented using a container div with a div for each row, each row containing 10 divs. I am using setInterval to call a an asmx webservice that returns some json formatted information. On the success callback I call $("#myContainer").empty(); on the container div and recreate the rows and 10 nested divs for each row's columns. This page may be left to run for a whole day, so I am wary of updating the DOM like this as I have noticed that memory does rise for the browser over time (IE8). The other approach I am considering is to add an idea to the row div. When new results process each item of data, look for the corresponding row, if it exists overwrite the data in each div. If it doesn't exist (new data for example), append the row. What approaches have others used for this sort of long lived pseudo realtime information display. TIA

  I'd like to display a colorbar representing an image's raw values along side a matplotlib imshow subplot which displays that image, normalized.   Hi there, I started two days ago with android, gone through the hello android stuff and also started to read the Hello Android book, which is great. PROBLEM: I use in my app - VERY EASY APP- the XML output. So basically the main activity just tells the android to show the XML layout of main. But what if I have in the activity - code defined integer variable and I want this integer variable also be shown on the display? How do I PUSH the integer variable to the XML??? From main XML reference to other strings in XML is easy - @string/app_name ... but how do I use the integer variable from the activity? Please help Thank you Oliver

  I start an external groovy script via cruisecontrol, which basically works. My problem is that if the groovy script fails I only get the "error string found" in my cruise webapp and email; its even not in the log files. The groovy script writes it output to stdout and to a logfile. This would mean multiple Like buttons on the page, one per activity. Can this be done? Can the Like button's url include #!state1 ? Eg, a web page is located at www.example.com/index.html It has multiple FB Like buttons on it, one for url www.example.com/index.html#!activity1 another for www.example.com/index.html#!activity2 Will the two Like buttons work independently?

• Firefox 3.6.3 on Snow Leopard 10.6.3 - symbolic link to command line binary doesn't work?

  I have Firefox 10.6.3 installed on Mac OS X Snow Leopard from the DMG. I can run firefox from the terminal using /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin. However, if I create a symbolic link: sudo ln -s /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin /bin/firefox then it refuses to run, or at least display. When I issue "firefox" from the terminal, I can see the process in top, but never get the GUI to appear. :/ = ls -lr /bin/firefox lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 52 May 5 15:19 /bin/firefox - /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin Any ideas?   To find an Assembly programmer is very hard to help me I'm a established Delphi programmer that has an old copy of Delphi that is not .net And I have a *.dll that I'm converting into Delphi code for .net I'm on a big learning curve hear as i know little of .net yet. I've just got a computer with .net today!!!!!! I've run the *.dll through a dissembler and started putting jump links in as writing in Delphi assembly you do not do any addressing, just reference links. • jList in Scrollpane, seeking and displaying value of selectedIndex

  I have a JList inside a Scrollpane. If you click on the list and move the arrow keys up and down it works like you expect, you can move your selection index and display around just fine. Now, what I want to do is basically have a text box and i'm typing in the text box like "comic" and want it to seek to the index of that value. This WORKS just fine. Where the problem is when the value of the list box is below, or above the viewable area. When it is, the selected index seeks, but does not change the position of the scrollable region. However, if I press the up or down arrows and requestFocus() to the list, and move up and down it seeks to the right viewable area. What am I missing to make this happen WITHOUT changing focus. I want to be able to just type in the list all I want and have it show me what is selected. I feel i'm missing something obvious here.

• Flash CS5 and dynamic textfields

  I have a "shell" that started life in Flash CS3 (Flash 9, AS3) that has been since used with CS4 and now CS5. It creates TextFields in ActionScript for display (reading the content of those fields from XML). The text fields are either Myriad Pro Regular or Myriad Pro Semibold, both are embedded in the SWF from the Library (any given text field will only use one of those fonts) and using Advanced anti-aliasing. Once a FLA goes into CS5 is still has the same problem when saved back into CS4. The problem is the spacing between letters are now quite random, and the width of each text field is too wide (by about 10%). Changing the letterSpacing property (to something negative) makes this more noticeable. I read on here about Font.registerFont(MyriadPro) but that doesn't seem to be doing anything. Does anyone know how to make CS5 behave like previous versions of Flash? I'm using Flash Professional on Snow Leopard (as part of CS5 Web Premium).

  I'm using Netbeans IDE to make a gui application. I have a JFrame with a JPanel inside it. After a button click I want to display a different JPanel inside the first. The other JPanel is in a different file. How would I go about doing this? If this is not practical I don't mind replacing the first JPanel with the second one.   Hello all, I have been searching and haven't got luck, I got a tutorial to use the loginview control in order to display or hide parts of the views to different user roles in my application. The thing is that the tutorial I've found is for ASP.NET and I've been told by one of my colleages that it is the same framework for ASP.NET MVC but the way to use it is different. Have you got any good tutorial to recommend? EDIT: I've got all my application set up, and the login and the roles already configured (via asp.net membership provider). This is all already running. The thing is that if I have role a and role b I want role a to be able to actually see the links to the actions it is authorized to work with, and not b for example. If in the Index of my application I've got a link to "Edit" and only the role a can access to the action, then it will be displayed just for logged in users that belong to role a, and not to those who belong to role b Thank you, Vikitor

  When creating a web application that some how displays the display of a unique identifier for a recurring entity (videos on YouTube, or book section on a site like mine), would it be better to use a uniform length identifier like a hash or the unique key of the item in the database (1, 2, 3, etc). Besides revealing a little, what I think is immaterial, information about the internals of your app, why would using a hash be better than just using the unique id? In short: Which is better to use as a publicly displayed unique identifier - a hash value, or a unique key from the database? Edit: I'm opening up this question again because Dmitriy brought up the good point of not tying down the naming to db specific property. Will this sort of tie down prevent me from optimizing/normalizing the database in the future? The platform uses php/python with ISAM /w MySQL.

• How do I handle dojo datagrid cell updates so I can post them back automatically to the server?

  I am using dojo datagrid to display my data. When the end user edit the cell values it should be updated in the server using ajax calls(when the focus goes out of the cell). Else, I should have a Edit & update/cancel buttons for each row to handle the same feature. But I don know how to place edit & update buttons inside the grid and capture their events. By default dojo updates only local the store value(client side). how can I save the updated cell values into the server? do we need to write any override methods to do so?? I am new to dojo.   I'm using the Details View control of VWD asp.net 2008 I have a users database table and one of the columns contain the "unique" user's profile ID, created by VWD from the automatic profiles table. From my table, I would like to select only the data pertaining to the logged in user. How do I get the current unique user profileID and then have that used for the query? What I have so far: In the configure data source option of the control I select the columns I would like to display, select the check box for "Return Only Unique IDs" and the WHERE option. In this new window I select the Column to the profile userID ... "=" and then assumed I should select Source: "Profile". Now what should the parameter properties or value be to select only the logged userID specific data of the table? Any help is appreciated. Thank You!

• jQuery - How to remove a DOM element BEFORE complete page load

  Now this may seem like a silly question, but I need to know how to remove a DOM element BEFORE it is displayed to the user. In short, I am using a div that has a background image alerting the user to enable javascript before proceeding. If the user has javascript enabled I am using jQuery to remove the DOM element, in this case $(".check-js") which is the div housing the image. Using the conventional methods to unload DOM objects as follows does not work because it waits for the page load to complete, then removes the element, causing the image to flicker on and off each time the page loads: $(function(){ $(".check-js").css( {display:"none"} ) }) I simply want to remove the div if the user has js enabled, and he must never see this div. Any suggestions and I will be grateful, thanks.

• problem in loading images from web

  hi, I am new in android and had developed an app which get images from the website and display it. I got it working in emulator but not in real phones. In some device, it will crash or take very long loading period. Can anyone please help me or guide me in improving it as i'm not sure whether the way i loads the images is correct or not. • Buddypress on local server install has issues

  I have buddypress working nicely on a server, however I can't display the 'members' page or any individual profile page on a local webserver install I have made. If I try and visit /members/ I just get redirected back to the main buddypress page. I also just noticed online members never shows whose online and the link to the default blog on the main page is listed as http://localhost.localdomain/mu/BP_HOME_BLOG_SLUG which seems to indicate to me that BP_HOME_BLOG_SLUG is undefined, I can't find where it gets set or defined, not sure if these two problems are related to the other problems. No idea what's causing it, I've been pouring over the php files but haven't even gotten a clue, any suggestions on what I could do?
