• Sorting issues in flexigrid with "json" data

  I'm currently using flexigrid to display data in a current project, but am running into issues with its ability to properly sort certain columns that contain dates or numbers. The data is being sent from a ColdFusion CFC that selects the appropriate data and then delivers it in the proper "json" format. As the date/time stamps and other fields containing numbers are sent as "strings" they do not sort properly in the data grid. Is this a limitation of Flexigrid or am I sending the data improperly to Flexigrid? I can provide examples of my code if that is helpful.

• Best approach to update a control after an Ajax request?

  I have a webpage that fires off an Ajax request which stores some data to a database and I want to update the webpage so that the user can see their changes have been submitted. There are at least 3 ways I can think of accomplishing this: Immediately update the webpage with plain JavaScript by grabbing the contents of the user's inputted text and immediately inserting it where it belongs. Have the ajax call return the stored text as the response, grab the response, and then insert this text where it belongs on the page using JavaScript Have the ajax call return a flag (say, true for successful db write, false otherwise), and if the flag is true, use JavaScript to grab the user's contents from the input control and insert it where it belongs elsewhere on the page Or another method not mentioned...? I don't mean this to be subjective, I just don't know which would be the best method to apply. My instinct tells me to go with the third item (return a flag, then update the field). Is this the best way? Thanks

• CSS menu is flickering when scrolling through it with hover effects

• extract out text in each line and put it in seperate variables with javascript

  I have the following address which is in a paragraph with no great way to select the individual text areas within. I do not have access to this code. I want to extract out each line and put the text values in a variable for each type. Not sure what would be the best way to do it. Use .split('<br>') ? then use .split('&nbsp;') to separate the state from the zip same with city and state I am a little lost here. • Dictionary to Json object, "Expected expression"

  I'm trying to convert a dictionery into a json object, so that I can work with it in my front end. sortFields = <%= SchrodersHtmlHelper.ToJson(ViewData["SortInfo"])%>; However, I keep on getting "Expected expression" for this all the time and I'm clueless why. Could anyone explain to me what I'm doing wrong? Edit: The conversion works fine, but I still get this issue in the front end, causing the browser to complain about it.

• pagerAnchorBuilder - trying to add classes

  I'm using Cycle2 to build a carousel gallery and I've run into a little problem regarding styling the pager buttons. What I've gathered is that Cycle2 creates its own pager span tags for each slide which is a bummer becaus I've already styled my the sub-nav markup. This should be a minor issue as long as I can assign individual classes to the spans and change my css accordingly. However, I can't get this to work. TLDR: I was hoping that I could use pagerAnchorBuilder to create individual classes for each span. I can't. Help. To improve the usability, I listed all the images they can add (ID numbers displayed next to it) on one side. However, this still is little bit confusing. I want image IDs added/deleted to the textbox when user clicks on the images. Spare me codes, methods, ideas, examples... I will take anything.

• Getting the height of a div after setting it to auto in IE

  Hi, I'm writing some JavaScript that changes the size of some content. To do this I need to know the size of a div within my content. If I have the following html: <div id="wrapper"> ... other stuff ... <div id="inner" style="height:400px">Some text in here</div> ... other stuff ... </div> And the following JavaScript: $('#inner').height('auto'); var height = $("#wrapper").height(); In FireFox and Chrome the height variable increases as the inner div expands to fit all the text. In IE this stays the same. I guess it doesn't redraw the div straight away. Anybody know how to get the new correct height in IE? Cheers

Of them are: Using jCrop and rMagick, it takes up a huge amount of processing ( to which I have backgrounded ). • Attach an HREF and a class to an img link generated by the PhotoSlider script?

  Hi folks, I'm using the very nice PhotoSlider script from http://opiefoto.com/articles/photoslider to create a slide show of images for one of my clients. This script replaces a previous hand-coded Javascript solution that allowed for the large image to be clicked resulting in a lightbox modal popup showing the full-size version of the clicked picture. Of course the client insists that this functionality remain intact, but the HTML code for the large image is generated on-the-fly by the PhotoSlider script itself. This means I'll need to modify the script slightly to attach a class ("lightbox") and an href (or just a click event, whichever makes more sense), but I'm not quite sure how best to accomplish this. I figure the event and class will have to be attached each time a thumbnail is clicked, but if this isn't the best way to do it any advice will be appreciated. The script is implemented into my page as can be seen here, without the click or class. I'd really appreciate any assistance stackoverflowites can offer. Thanks in advance!

  The site I'm working on, is almost completed. I have a Demo page created as well, where people can try out the product. However for first time visitors to understand what service the site actually provides I'm brainstorming with the following ideas. Since a lot of folks have been through this a number of time, would like to get some advice on what they use and what generally works. Here is what I came up with - 1.) Plain Slideshow, showing various features. (Using jQquery, hence figuring out a simple BUT professional looking plugin).Simplest to implement. 2.) Flash - Will have to hire someone. 3.) • Overlapping elements stop overlapping in IE7 on class change

  On this page http://zenchan.com/program/ When I rollover the right box 2nd from the top suddenly the overlapping (negative margin disappears). What's happening is that a 'hover' class is being added to shift the background sprite. The two yellow boxes are debugging: if the hover class is put their in advance there is no problem. So fundamentally the CSS is not a problem for IE7 but adding the class is. Any ideas what's causing this. I've tried adding haslayout to various elements but to little effect.

  I need to display a banner that sticks to the bottom of the browser. How ever, when user navigates to next page, the banner shows up again. What can I do to set the banner to remained hidden just for this visit? In other words, as long as the browser remained open, the banner will not show up again. But if user returns to the same website another time, the banner should load again.
