I am trying to switch a table from being a many-to-one mapping to being many-to-many with an intermediate mapping table. However, when I switched it over and tried to do a query on it with NHibernate, it's giving me this error: "Interceptor.OnPrepareStatement(SqlString) returned null or empty SqlString." My query was originally something more complex, but I switched it to a basic fetch all and I'm still having the problem: Session.QueryOver<T>().Future(); It would seem to either be a problem in my model mapping files or something in my database. Get status of servlet request before the response is returned

Good evening, I am in the process of writing a Java Servlet (Struts 2, Tomcat, JSP etc) which is capable of doing some fairly complex simulations. These can take up to 2 minutes to complete on the and will return a graph of the results. It is trivial to calculate the percentage of the simulation completed because the process works by repeating the same calculations 1000s of times. I would be interested to know if anyone has ever tried to use client side technology to provide any estimate of the percentage complete. I.e query the servlet processing to get the number of cycles completed at various point throughout the simulation. This could then be displayed as a bar in the client browser. Any thoughts, advice, resources would be much appreciated. Thanks, Alex

How to get equivalent of ResultSetMetaData without ResultSet

Hey Guys - I need to resolve a bunch of column names to column indexes (so as to use some of the nice ResultSetMetaData methods). However, the only way that I know how to get a ResultSetMetaData object is by calling getMetaData() on some ResultSet. The problem I have with that is that grabbing a ResultSet takes up uneccesary resources in my mind - I don't really need to query the data in the table, I just want some information about the table. Does anyone know of any way to get a RSMD object without getting a ResultSet (from a potentially huge table) first? Thanks!

Hi all, My query is related to broadband network deployment. I have a DSL modem connection provided by my operator. Now the DSL modem has a built-in NAT and DHCP server, hence it allocates IP addresses to any client devices (laptops, PC, mobile) that connect to it. However, the DSL modem also gets a public IP address X that is provisioned by the operator. My question is Whether this IP address X provisioned by operator is an IP address that is directly on the public Internet? Is it likely (practical scenario) that my broadband operator will put in one more NAT+DHCP server and provide IP addresses to all the modems within his broadband network. In this case, the IP addresses allotted to the modem devices will not be directly on the public Internet. Thanks in advance.

What is the effect of running an application with "Unlimited Stack" size

Hello All, I have inherited some code that I need to maintain that can be less than stable at times. The previous people are no longer available to query as to why they ran the application in an environment with unlimited stack set, I am curious what the effects of this could be? The application seems to have some unpredictable memory bugs that we cannot find and running the application under valgrind is not an option because it slows the application down so much that we cannot actually run it. So any thoughts on what the effects of this might be are appreciated. Thank you.

This is great, I can see the window id 3263 and tab number 1 (although I don't know how to query myTab to get only these values). How do I improve the efficiency of the queries executed by this generic Linq-to-SQL data access clas

Hi all, I have a class which provides generic access to LINQ to SQL entities, for example: class LinqProvider<T> //where T is a L2S entity class { DataContext context; public virtual IEnumerable<T> GetAll() { return context.GetTable<T>(); } public virtual T Single(Func<T, bool> condition) { return context.GetTable<T>().SingleOrDefault(condition); } } From the front end, both of these methods appear to work as you would expect. However, when I run a trace in SQL profiler, the Single method is executing what amounts to a SELECT * FROM [Table], and then returning the single entity that meets the given condition. Obviously this is inefficient, and is being caused by GetTable() returning all rows. My question is, how do I get the query executed by the Single() method to take the form SELECT * FROM [Table] WHERE [condition], rather than selecting all rows then filtering out all but one? Is it possible in this context? Any help appreciated, Lee

I currently have a log object I'd like to remove objects from, based on a LINQ query. I would like to remove all records in the log if the sum of the versions within a program are greater than 60. Currently I'm pretty confident that this'll work, but it seems kludgy: for (int index = 0; index < 4; index++) { Log.RemoveAll(log => (log.Program[index].Version[0].Value + log.Program[index].Version[1].Value + log.Program[index].Version[2].Value ) > 60); } The Program is an array of 4 values and version has an array of 3 values. I have a DataSet that I have added to my project where I can Insert and Add records using the Add Query function in Visual Studio 2010, however I want to add transactions to this, I have found a few examples but cannot seem to find one that works with these. I know I need to use the SQLClient.SQLTransaction Class somehow. I used the Add New Data Source Wizard and added the Tables/View/Functions I need, I just need an example using this process such as How to get the DataConnection my DataSet has used. Assuming all options have been set in the wizard and I am only using the pre-defined adapters and options asked for in this wizard, how to I add the Transaction logic to my Database. For example I have a DataSet called ProductDataSet with the XSD created for this, I have then added my Stock table as a Datasource and Added an AddStock method with a wizard, this also if a new item calls an AddItem method, if either of these fails I want to rollback the AddItem and AddStock in this case.

The if the user puts @a_registered_username i would like it to become a link to the user's profile. i think preg_replace is the function needed for this. $ALL_USERS_ROW *['USERNAME'] is the database query array for all the users and ['USERNAME'] is the username row. $content is the comment containing the @username i think this should not be very hard to solve for someone who is good at php. I just bought a Google Nexus One smartphone, and I want to write a small Android application for fun. Suppose I can get my current GPS coordinates, so then how can I programmatically find nearby landmarks or points-of-interest within some radius? Is there an API to get GPS geo-tagged landmarks, like in Google Earth's database? For example, if I'm in downtown Chicago, my program would point me to all the "tourist" things to visit in that city. Ideally, it would all run on my smartphone, but if necessary, I can have the smartphone query a webserver, which would then run more queries.

GROUP BY YEARWEEK(date) but I'd like to get the first and the last record of the group. It could by done by doing tons of requests but I have a quite large table. ODBC Linked server in sql 2005 doesn’t work from remote box

I have a dev workstation with sql 2005 installed and in it I created a linked server to a odbc connection to a clarion database. I can run select statements against it inside sql Mgt studio. When I take a second workstation and connect to the sql on the first box using sql mgt studio, then try the exact same query I get OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "liveclarion" returned message "[SoftVelocity Inc.][TopSpeed ODBC Driver][ISAM]ISAM Table Not Found". Any thoughts? It appears to have the same functionality on a second sql server. No remote sql mgt studio connect success in queries against my linked ODBC clarion DB. All done with windows authentication and the same AD user.

Why might this happen? The daemon I am connecting to is running v 7.5.1 of the software, and the rvconfig.jar that I am using is from v 7.5.1 as well. Is there a gotcha when using Tibco's DaemonManager that is causing me to come unstuck?
