• J2ME app to access incoming call - Where to start?

  Here's my requirement: I often receive calls from unidentified numbers on my mobile phones. I would like an application which would use a reference list like this, and show me the carrier name and the area of origin along with the number on screen. Mobile make : Sony Ericsson Model : C902 Operating System: Propreitary J2ME: MIDP 2.0 Here are my questions: Is it possible to do something like this? I have installed a lot of java apps on my mobile, and all of them have to be launched seperately, can be run in the background, but they never seem to access anything native. If it is possible, which area of J2Me should I start with, for creating an application that achieves the above requirement? If it is not possbile, what are my alternatives?

• jCarousel not working properly within tabbed menu

  Hi everybody, I'm riding three different jCarousel ul, one in each target of a tabbed menu designeb by Yetii. The problem issue is that the one in the first target works well, whereas the remaining two show just a slice of the first picture and slide soon onto a back frame. The jCarousel is initialized by a class as the behaviour required is the same for all targets: jQuery(document).ready(function() { jQuery('.jcarousel-skin-tango').jcarousel({ wrap: 'circular', //size:8, scroll:1, animation:.10, auto:5, }); }); The ul have different id.   I have 2 tables, that look like: CustomerInfo(CustomterID, CustomerName) CustomerReviews(ReviewID, CustomerID, Review, Score) I want to search reviews for a string and return CustomerInfo.CustomerID and CustomerInfo.CustomerName. However, I only want to show distinct CustomerID and CustomerName along with just one of their CustomerReviews.Reviews and CustomerReviews.Score. I also want to order by the CustomerReviews.Score. I can't figure out how to do this, since a customer can leave multiple reviews, but I only want a list of customers with their highest scored review. Any ideas?

• Using twitter gem to signup and authenticate users

  Hi, I'd like to allow users the option to register using their Twitter account. Basically, I'll present them with a standard signup form (name, login, email, pwd, pwd_confirm) as well as a "Signup with Twitter" link. If a user chooses to signup with Twitter creds, then I'll create a user record in db. Then I'd like to be able to allow a user to authenticate using their Twitter creds on returning visits. Also, I'm using restful_authentication, so I need to have this work within that context. What is the best way to do this? I haven't been to find any tutorials on allowing the signup and authentication pieces. Most examples just show how to authenticate a Twitter user into your app. Thanks.

• iphone instance / class method issue

  Hey All, Okay, so I have a viewController method that has some elements created with interface builder and some I coded myself. I created a view in the IB...lets call it viewOne. I created a loop that creates buttons (through code) and places them on a separate view (viewTwo). This is done in a class method. However, I want the view I made to be opened everytime one of the buttons is clicked. So I did: [button addTarget:self action:@selector(woogoo:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; The woogoo class does the following: +(void) woogoo:(id)sender { //back button [self.view addSubview:viewOne] } However, the program crashes when a button is clicked. I did try making woogoo an instance method but it also crashes in this case too. All I want to do is show viewOne when a button is clicked. Any ideas what I can do?

  I'm pretty experienced with Perl and Ruby but new to Python so I'm hoping someone can show me the Pythonic way to accomplish the following task. I want to compare several lines against multiple regular expressions and retrieve the matching group. In Ruby it would be something like this: STDIN.each_line do |line| case line when /^A:(.*?)$/ then puts "FOO: #{$1}" when /^B:(.*?)$/ then puts "BAR: #{$1}" # when ... else puts "NO MATCH: #{line}" end end My attempts in Python are turning out pretty ugly because the matching group is returned from a call to match/search on a regular expression and Python has no assignment in conditionals or switch statements. What's the Pythonic way to do (or think!) about this problem?

  Hi!. ISSUE:- I am using CFbuilder and my coldfusion server is on a Remote Desktop Services (RDS). Everything is working fine except that I do not see the folder that I am currently working on under CFbuilder /Navigator or CFbuilder /Prject/Build Working Set/. Even if I try to add "Prject/Build Working Set/Select working set/New" its not working. I want to add a "Working Set" so that it can show on my CFbuilder/Navigator on the right side.   What are some different solutions to wrapping access to functionality within a .NET MVC application? For example, I have six tabs that represent different areas of the application and within area 1, there is the ability to add, edit, upload, whatever. I need a central way to say: Build some dictionary of what the user can do Wrap tabs, buttons, links, etc, validate the user can access this piece of functionality and show/hide appropriately. I know I can restrict access to actions via action filters and roles, but what about from the UI? Any help would be appreciated. I am sure I am not the only one who has needed to do this, thanks!

  I want a read only column bound to a boolean that shows a check mark image when true and nothing when false. The problem is the false value; I just want to show whatever the background of the datagrid is, but I don't see how to clear the image source. What should the Value of the image source be to do this? • How can I make Ruby rake display the full backtrace on uncaught exception

  As you may know rake swallows the full backtrace on uncaught exception. If I want to have a full backtrace, I need to add the --trace option. I find this very annoying because some of my tasks take long time to run (up to 6 hours), when it crashes I don't have any debugging info. I need to run it again with the --trace. On top of that, the system may not be in the same state as when the error occurred, so it may not show afterward. I always have to add --trace on any tasks. This displasy stuff that I don't want to see when the task is executed. Is there a way to change this default behaviour? (which I don't think is useful at all)

• Browser back button broken between hidden div's

  First of all, these pages will never be on the web but will be in internal memory. They are a group of linked documents---an ebook. http://www.anmldr.com/testdivs When I click on the link in the first div, the second div becomes visible and the first div is hidden. The problem is with the browser's back button. If you then click on the back button, the URL updates but the first div does not show again. How can I correct the back button so that the first div shows? The link from the second div to the first div works fine but it is the browser back button that I do not know how to work with. Thanks, Linda P.S. These are using CSS3 so it is better to use a WebKit based browser.

• Visual Studio detaches from application as soon as debugging starts

  I have a web application that I've always been able to run in Visual Studio and it debugs just fine (breakpoints work, I can pause execution, etc). Recently, the behavior changed suddenly, and a few things happen: I start debugging, it lauches IE and loads the application, but after a few seconds (sometimes the page hasn't even displayed yet), Visual Studio acts as if debugging has stopped - I'm able to edit code in VS again, and the "Play" button on the toolbar is enabled. The application continues to run in the IE window just spawned, but I'm not attached to it During this few seconds that VS is "debugging", because it detaches, my breakpoints show as hollow - as if I'm set to "Release" mode and they won't be hit. In fact, I have a breakpoint set in Page_Load, and it skips right by. I've checked, and I'm set to debug mode, though the compile mode dropdown is missing from my toolbar (I checked in the build properties to ensure I was in debug mode). Can anybody shed some light here?

• Netbean Cannot update Google App Engine server to appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2

  I am using Netbean 6.7.1 I just update my google app engine plugin in netbean with Netbean auto update. I found out there is new app engine SDK. So i want to update my google app engine server to point to appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2 After I download appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2.zip. I unzip it. Then at Netbean: I already have a Google App Engine server under Services - Server. I can't find anyway to point it to the newly installed sdk folder. So I deleted the existing "Google App Engine" server & try to add a new one. Server - Add Server - Google App Engine - at "Installation Location", I point it to google app engine folder, which is "C:\appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2", it show this message at bottom "C:\appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2" & don't allow me to continue. May I know how to solve this? thanks!

  Hi, Take this table: id name sub_id --------------------------- 1 A (null) 2 B (null) 3 A2 1 4 A3 1 The sub_id column is a relation to his owm table, to column ID. subid --- 0:1 --- id Now I have the problem to make a correctly SELECT query to show that the child rows (which sub_id is not null) directly selected under his parent row. So this must be a correctly order: 1 A (null) 3 A2 1 4 A3 1 2 B (null) A normal SELECT order the id. But how or which keyword help me to order this correctly? JOIN isn't possible I think because I want to get all the rows seperated. Because the rows will be displayed on a Gridview (ASP.Net) with EntityDataSource but the child rows must be displayed directly under his parent. Thank you.

• What is the best way to make a schedule in MFC

  I have a list of items that are each associated with a start and end time and date. What I want to do is, given a time and date range, display only the items that fall within that window, even partially. What I'm doing is creating a CListCtrl with all the items in it and the CListCtrl is sorted by start time by default. But given a time range, I don't know how to search for the first item that is within the range. Another problem with the list control is it displays as a list, whereas it would be nice if there was a control that could also show things that are concurrent side by side. I'm doing this within a dialog application.

• Using (void)awakeFromNib

  I am trying to run an action when the application starts. The action checkAtStart is supposed to display an alert if there is no text in field1 and hide startView if there is text in field1. checkAtStart works fine if assigned to a button, but when I try to run it using (void)awakeFromNib, the alert will display no matter what and startView will never hide. Its probably something really simple that I'm forgetting. Any help is appreciated! • Pass Value between MDI Child in WinForm using C#

  I have an MDI Parent, containing a MenuStrip. When I click on one of the Menu, two Child Forms are displayed simultaneoulsy. I have a TextBox and a Send Button on one of my ChildForm. When I type-in something in that TextBox and Click the Send Button, I need to show that value in the TextBox of my Second Child Form. What I had done is, I wrote a Public Function in the Second Child Form and tried to invoke it by creating an object of Second Form, on the Send Button click event. When I put break points, in that Public Function, I find that the control is flowing through that Public function on cliking the Send button. But the passed value is not displayed. And, I know that is not the standard way to do that. Any sample script for help? Thanks.

  I'm planning to develop a PHP Web App, it will mainly be used by registered users(sessions) While thinking about the DB design, I was contemplating that in order to give the best user experience possible there would be lots of options for the user to activate, deactivate, specify, etc. For example: - Options for each layout elements, dialog boxes, dashboard, grid, etc. - color, size, stay visible, invisible, don't ask again, show everytime, advanced mode, simple mode, etc. This would get like 100s of fields ranging from simple Yes/No or 1 to N values..., for each user. So, is it having a field for each of these options the way to go? or how do those CRMs or CMS or other Web Apps do it to store lots of 1-2 char long values? Do they group them on Text fields separated by a special char and then "explode" them as an array for runtime usage? thank you

• Which jsPerf-test should I consider as standard for checking the performance of javascript template-engines

  I am on a search for a javascript template engine that has good performance when used in large js applications and is also very suitable for mobile applications. So I have gone through the various jsPerf-tests for these. There seems to be a lot which show different results and it is confusing to find out which is the standard test. Can some one guide me a standard jsPerf that I can refer to and that should also include following templates dust, underscore, hogan, mustache, handlebars. From what I have observed dot.js is a constant performer with good rendering speed, but is it mature enough for larger applications ? What is this "with" and "no with" that is shown in the jspref tests? Can some one explain. In all the tests I have seen popular templates like mustache, handlebars, dust, hogan,etc seems to be behind performance than other templates, so why people are using them leaving out the top performers,is it because of maturity of these template engines?   Hey guys, I'm currently thinking about caching most of my viewdata excpt user specific data after a user logs on. I thought the simplest way was caching the ViewData object itself and adding the user specific data after it was loaded. Are there any downsides of this approach?
