Completely bizarre Firefox CSS bug

I've been doing front end development for a long time, and I have NEVER come across a bug like this before... Save the following HTML to a file and view it in Firefox (mine is 3.6.3): <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <style type="text/css"> body { font-family: Helvetica, Sans-Serif;} h2 {font-weight: normal;} </style> </head> <body> <h2>Some normal text <strong>some bold text</strong> weird huh?</h2> </body> </html> If you don't want to give it a shot the output is like your cat walked across your keyboard while character map was turned on, except in the strong tags. I feel like this may be a font issue? When I get rid of font-weight: normal it goes back to normal, but I don't want everything to be bolded in my h2... Anyone have any ideas? More importantly, is anyone able to reproduce this?? Thanks.

Positioning DIV's with Javascript

I have two divs that I need to position horizontally dependent on the width of the user's screen. I've styled their vertical position in CSS, and I am trying to position them horizontally using Javascript. My divs: <div id="tl"> blah blah </div> <div id="bl"> blah blah </div> My CSS: #tl { position: absolute; top: -14px; right: 0; } #bl { position: absolute; bottom: 1px; right: 0; } My Javascript: var tl = document.getElementById('tl'); var bl = document.getElementById('bl'); var wide = parseInt(screen.width); var nudge = wide*.86; nudge = nudge+21; tl = tl.style; tl.right = ( parseInt(tl.right) + nudge ); bl = bl.style; bl.right = ( parseInt(bl.right) + nudge ); However... nothing happens. No errors, and definitely no movement from my divs. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help?

Background not showing behind floating divs

How do I add IIS Virtual Directories and arbitrary files in TFS Solution

We have a web portal product from which we customize portals from customers. We use the precompiled web app and create a virtual directory (vd) where the customization resides. In addition to this we do some changes web.config in the web app folder. We would obviously like to keep these customizations under TFS source control. When I try to add the precompiled web app (which I don't want to add to source control), a warning tells me that the vds cannot be added. If I only add the folder that is referenced to by the vd, I lose the references to assemblies in the precompiled web app. My questions are: How do I structure a solution for adding IIS (sub application level) virtual directories and still retain the references to assemblies? Is it possible to add other directories/files from the web application level (like App_Theme, web.config etc.) to the solution? Since we already use Visual Source Safe, we have established a tree structure for each customization project: Project Root | |-Custom Sql | |-Custom Portal Files (which is added as a virtual directory) | |-Other Customizations I could probably do a lot of this manually through the source control explorer, but I'd like to have everything done through a solution. I've followed the instructions using this article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb668986.aspx, but this doesn't address the exact problem that I have. Oh, and we are currently using Visual Source Safe for portal customizaton, but are eager to make the move to TFS. TIA

How can I optimize this or is there a better way to do it?(HTML Syntax Highlighter)

Hello every one, I have made a HTML syntax highlighter in C# and it works great, but there's one problem. First off It runs pretty fast because it syntax highlights line by line, but when I paste more than one line of code or open a file I have to highlight the whole file which can take up to a minute for a file with only 150 lines of code. I tried just highlighting visible lines in the richtextbox but then when I try to scroll I can't it to highlight the new visible text. How to use DLL reference with an ActiveX <object> via JavaScript

My question: how can I set an ActiveX object's property via JavaScript to an enum value found in a non-ActiveX DLL? Problem description: I am instantiating an ActiveX object with the following object tag: <object classid="clsid:F338193D-2491-4D7B-80CE-03487041A278" id="VideoCapture1" width="500" height="500"></object> (This is the guid for the 3rd party ActiveX I'm using, "VisioForge_Video_Capture_4.VFVideoCapture4X") I have example C# code for using this ActiveX, which I am porting to JavaScript. Code like this works just fine: VideoCapture1.Debug_Mode = true; var devcount = VideoCapture1.Video_CaptureDevices_GetCount(); var devs = []; for (var i =0; i < devcount; ++i) { devs[devs.length] = VideoCapture1.Video_CaptureDevices_GetItem(i); } ... etc ... However, VideoCapture1 has some settings which refer to a DLL enum, like so (C# code): VideoCapture1.Mode = VisioForge_Video_Capture_4.TxVFMode.Mode_Video_Preview; I can see in Visual Web Developer that TxVFMode.Mode_Video_Preview is value 1 in the enum. However, the following JS does not appear to set the Mode properly: VideoCapture1.Mode = 1; Does anyone know how I can set VideoCapture1.Mode to the enum value found in the TxVFMode? PS: In Visual Web Developer, when I "Go to definition" on TxVFMode, I get the Guid for the enum. I thought I could create an with this Guid or instantiate a VisioForge_Video_Capture_4.TxVFMode in JS, but neither gives me a usable object.

Absolutely positioned div on right causing scrollbar when the left doesn't

I'm trying to "flank" a centered div with some design elements that are absolutely positioned outside the main div's width. I'm getting a scroll bar due to the element on the right, but not the element on the left (IE6/7/8, Chrome, Firefox). What's wrong with debugging in Eclipse on Android?

I've obviously been spoiled by Visual Studio, because although I'm just learning Android and the Eclipse environment, debugging apps in Eclipse is becoming a serious detriment to further development. For example, Eclipse will compile this divide by zero just fine: public class Lesson2Main extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate (savedInstanceState); int i = 1 / 0; TextView tv = new TextView (this); tv.setText ("Hello, Android!"); setContentView (tv); } } And then, when it executes it under the debugger, I will get a full screen of useless debug info, non of which actually points me to the specific line containing the error. The stackTrace is null within the exception ('e') info tree, and it simply states a message stating 'ArithmeticException'. (that's nice, how about you point me in the direction of where you found it!?) I've looked all over the screen and am baffled that this IDE can't get this right. Does developing with Eclipse resort everyone back to 1991 with printf() like logging at every interval then to track down bugs? Seriously. Is there a configuration or plug-in that I'm missing to help with this? I haven't tested this case with XCode, but if the iPhone dev. IDE handles this more like Visual Studio, then no wonder the Android marketplace has so few apps. I'm excited about Android, but it seems that Eclipse is getting in the way.

Table cell doesn't obey vertical-align CSS declaration when it contains a floated element

I am trying to create a table, where each cell contains a big floated h1 on the left side, and a larger amount of small text to the right of the big text, vertically centered. However, the small text is showing up at the top of each cell, despite that it has a "vertical-align: middle" declaration. When I remove the big floated element, everything looks fine. I tested it in recent versions of IE, Firefox, and Safari, and this happened in every case. Why is this happening? Does anyone know of a way around it? unexpected margin with very simple html

I have a very simple html. The red div is inside the blue div and has a 10 px top margin. On non-ie browsers, the blue box is 10 px apart from the top of viewport and the red div is at the very top of the blue div. What I expect is the ie behavior: red div must be 10 px apart from the top of the blue div. Why does non-ie browsers render like this? (I suppose the wrong behavior is the IE's but why?) Where should you put 3rd party .NET dlls when using git submodules to avoid duplication

I have two .NET library projects in Visual Studio 2008 that both make use of the MySql Connector for .NET (MySql.Data.dll). These libraries are then in turn both used by a .NET command line application which also uses the Connector. The library projects are pulled in to the application's solution as git submodules and referenced by project in Visual Studio. I'm looking for the most effective strategy for storing and referencing the MySql Connector library. I have tried having the MySql.Data.dll checked in to all three projects (in their root folder), this was problematic when one project changed to a newer version of the connector dll. Although each project had its own version of the dll, only one was packaged into the resultant application leading to an API mismatch which was hard to pin down. This has put me off this approach. I have tried having the command line application reference the connector dll that is held in a submodule, however this only removes the possibility of version mismatches when there is only one submodule rather than two as in this case. I am contemplating putting the dll in the global assembly cache (GAC) of all machines that need to build or use the application, but I'm wary of not having all dependencies for an application available in source control.

My doctype is triggering standards mode on IE7.

asp.net ajax toolkit combobox doesn't work in hidden div

I have a combobox inside a hidden div which I use css display = none to make it invisible, but when I make the div visible by setting display = block, the combobox just show the input and its button and ul list all have css as display = 'none', visibility ='hidden'. I can tell it is done by combobox inbuild javascript because I tried to use javascript to set the css manually with no luck. It is a bug of combobox. Urgent help needed. Obtaining YouTube video ID in a URL and inputting selected video ID into a URL

I've been having trouble in trying to figure this out. What I am trying to do is, obtain the ID of a video from YouTube, and input the 11 character ID into the css of a div of a specific id by using jquery. Which, would then also replace the original div (div id="304817679"). Am I on the right track with my script? I'm entirely new to this, and I would appreciate some of the help that's offered here.
