When I try and save something to my list in SharePoint I get the following error: Unable to complete this operation. I have checked my server and the smallest amount of space left on any of the drives is ~4GB. The file size is 1MB. I have checked the database and the data file is on unrestricted growth. Any ideas?

Terminal Server 2008: Installing 16-bit Application (FoxPro 2.6)

I have one physical Windows 2008 R2 server running Hyper-V. Running under Hyper-V I have a virtual Windows Server 2008 R2 server running Remote Desktop Services (Terminal Services). I'm preparing my applications using the "Install Application on Remote Desktop..." control panel app. So far so good. However, I am now trying to install FoxPro 2.6 which is a 16-bit windows application. When I try to install it I receive the message: "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher". Is there any way around this? I'm in the middle of a large migration to thin-clients and foxpro 2.6, while it won't be around forever, is a very integral application for our data-entry personnel. How can I get this to work? While attempting to do an installation repair of SQL-2008R2, I'm failing the pre-check rules. Module that is failing is AclPermissionsFacet - with this message "The SQL Server registry keys from a prior installation cannot be modified. To continue, see SQL Server Setup documentation about how to fix registry keys." This is on my new home dev and I think during the migration from my previous machine, these settings got corrupted on my new box. In reviewing the web, there doesn't seem to be good infomration. And what there is suggests using subinacl.exe. But after trying it and seeing it is an XP based program, I'm at a loss on how to continue. How to parse Json object in ASP classic passed from jQuery

Using a jQuery dialog, on clicking OK I call $.post( "save.asp", { id: 1, value: "abcxyz" } ); to pass the values to my ASP classic file that will update the database. I don't need a return value (unless it fails). I'm a relative noob to jQuery, so I'm assuming I'm using JSON to pass the values to the ASP file. I just don't know what to do with them in ASP (using VBScript). I've seen things like ASP Extreme, but I'm not clear on how to use them. I've tried referencing values via the Request collection, but no luck. All I want to do is take the values passed, parse them out, then save them to the database. Sorry if this is a duplicate, but this just isn't clicking for me.

I have a column in the a database with values like the below. [{"noteText":"Today was sunny.","noteDate":"2010-03-30 10:06:22"},{"noteDate":"2010-04-06 13:21:36","noteText":"Today was windy."}] I think they are from an array of objects serialized via flash to Json. What I need to do is pull out the noteText and noteDate values only and record them back to the database as a normal string. I was hoping to just deserialize back to objects and build up a string from there, however, due to my unfamiliarity with c# and .Net I've hit a brick wall trying to deserialize the string. var obj = jsonSerializer.DeserializeObject(ns); Am I going in the right direction or should I be looking at doing some string manipulation? Any pointers much appreciated.

But I don't want a list that shows: SG MV I want a list that shows: Song Movie I can do this on an individual object basis if I was in the template object.get_type_display But how do I get a list of all of the unique "type" entries in the database as their full names for output into a template? I hope this question was clearly described. . .

Today I've started upgrading OTRS from version 2.3 to 2.4 , 2.4 to 3.0 and 3.0 to 3.1. Everything went smoothly except the upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1 OTRS provides a few perl scripts which make the upgrade easier. I've used these scripts for each upgrade step. Where are the Entity Framework t4 templates for Data Annotations?

I have been googling this non stop for 2 days now and can't find a single complete, ready to use, fully implemented t4 template that generates DataAnnotations. Do they even exist? I generate POCOs with the standard t4 templates. The actual database table has metadata that describes some of the validation rules, eg not null, nvarchar(25), etc. So all I want is a t4 template that can take my table and generate a POCO with DataAnnotations, eg public class Person { [Required] [StringLength(255)] public FirstName {get;set} } It is a basic and fundamental requirement, surely I can not be the first person in the entire world to have this requirement? I don't want to re-invent the wheel here. Yet I haven't found it after search high and low for days. This must be possible (and hopefully must be available somewhere to just download) - it would be criminally wrong to have to manually type in these annotations when the metadata for them already exists in the database.

Use ORM to persist the values in objects to database. - Done Get data from database using ORM and generate XML. I need to do all of that using: EMF (no idea what so ever) and JPA (DONE). I have used JAXB and I know, this can be done using JAXB, but how is (EMF == JAXB)?! I have created many java classes using EMF, but there are so many of them! PHP SimpleXML recursive function to list children and attibutes

I need some help on the SimpleXML calls for a recursive function that lists the elements name and attributes. Making a XML config file system but each script will have it's own config file as well as a new naming convention. So what I need is an easy way to map out all the elements that have attributes, so like in example 1 I need a simple way to call all the processes but I don't know how to do this without hard coding the elements name is the function call. Is there a way to recursively call a function to match a child element name? I did see the xpath functionality but I don't see how to use this for attributes. Any ideas? Also does the XML in the examples look correct? can I structure my XML like this? How to throw a SqlException(need for mocking)

Hi I am trying to test some exceptions in my project and one of the Exceptions I catch is SQlException. Now It seems that you can't go new SqlException() so I am not sure how I can throw a exception especially without somehow calling the database(and since it is unit tests it is usually advised not to call the database since it is slow). So I am using nunit and moq so I am not sure how to fake this. Edit Based on the answers they seem to all be based on ado.net I am using linq to sql. So that stuff is like behind the scenes. WiX major upgrade refuses to replace existing file!

Hello! I have inherited this project with a WiX installer, and am required to make this version usefully upgrade the previous one! My problem comes in replacing the database files with new versions. No, the problem is not that they are locked, I can replace them manually, and in fact now ONE of them is replaced, while the other is not. Please, please tell me what I'm doing wrong here. I've tried several other solutions (including registry keys as KeyPath instead of CompanionFile) but nothing is quite working. I have a mobile app that is using LinqToDatasets to update/insert into a SQL Server CE 3.5 File. Problem is if it is a full update (first time for example) there are a lot of updates (about 125). That makes this code (and more loops like it take a very long time (I have three such loops that take over 30 seconds each). Is there a faster or better way to do updates/inserts like this? (I did see this Codeplex Project, but I could not see how to make it work with both updates and inserts.)

C# System.Data.SQLite Designer Code

I've been messing around with the SQLite Designer in Visual Studio 2008 and I have noticed that when I use the generated Insert/Update statements they run extremely slow. Example: I have a data table with four columns and 5700 rows it took ~5 mins to insert the data into the database table However, I wrote my own database connection and insert methods using parameters and a single transaction and the same 5700 rows were inserted in under 1 second. Why is the generated code so slow and what is benefit to even using it? Thanks. Nathan

Wix XmlFile is keeping SqlDatabase from creating databases

I've got a Wix project made up of several fragments. One of those fragments has the database components, another has a component that manipulates xml files. When I include the XmlFile element to manipulate a file, the databases defined by the SqlDatabase do not get created. If I comment out the XmlFile, then the databases do get created. When looking at the install logs when using XmlFile and when not, they are almost exact copies of each other, except that the SqlDatabase calls would be completely missing, and the XmlFile calls would be in their place. Is there a known bug here? Or am I doing something I shouldn't be? This isn't a killer for our app, since I can move the things I'm putting in the xml file into the registry, but I'd rather not do that. I am using Wix 3.5.

Linq to Entities : using ToLower() on NText fields

I'm using SQL Server 2005, with a case sensitive database.. In a search function, I need to create a Linq To Entities (L2E) query with a "where" clause that compare several strings with the data in the database with these rules : The comparison is a "Contains" mode, not strict compare : easy as the string's Contains() method is allowed in L2E The comparison must be case insensitive : I use ToLower() on both elements to perform an insensitive comparison. All of this performs really well but I ran into the following Exception : "Argument data type ntext is invalid for argument 1 of lower function" on one of my fields. It seems that the field is a NText field and I can't perform a ToLower() on that. What could I do to be able to perform a case insensitive Contains() on that NText field ?

heroku mongohq and mongoid Mongo::ConnectionFailure

I have added the mongoHQ addon for mongodb at heroku. It crashes with something like this. connect_to_master': failed to connect to any given host:port (Mongo::ConnectionFailure) The descriptions online (heroku mongohq) are more directed towards mongomapper, as I see it. I'm running ruby 1.9.1 and rails 3-beta with mongoid. Python script repeated auto start up.

I am designing a python web app, where people can have an email sent to them on a particular day. So a user puts in his emai and date in a form and it gets stored in my database. My script would then search through the database looking for all records of todays date, retrive the email, sends them out and deletes the entry from the table. Is it possible to have a setup, where the script starts up automatically at a give time, say 1 pm everyday, sends out the email and then quits? If I have a continuously running script, i might go over the CPU limit of my shared web hosting. Or is the effect negligible? Ali

Spring Security DB Authentication w/Hibernate and hashed passwords?

I'm trying to set up spring security 3 to authenticate users against my hibernate 3 database. I'm storing only sha1 hashes of the passwords in the database (not plaintext). I've looked at this and this, which tell me to implement my own UserDetailsService. Unfortunately, the UserDetails that loadUserByUsername spits out seem to need the plaintext password, which I don't have. How is this usually handled? Can Spring Security actually do what I need here? Am I missing something?

I keep getting invalid syntax, but I can't figure out why. Argument exception after trying to use TryGetObjectByKey

Hi, I'm trying to retrieve an object from my database using entity (framework 4) When I use the following code it gives an ArgumentException: An item with the same key has already been added. if (databaseContext.TryGetObjectByKey(entityKey, out result)) { return (result != null && result is TEntityObject) ? result as TEntityObject : null; } else { return null; } When I check the objectContext, I see the entities, but only if I enumerate the specific list of entities manually using VS2010, it works. What am I missing? Do I have to do something else before i can get the item from the database? I have lazy loading set to true. I searched google, but could not find any results, the same for the msdn library

Conversion of bytes into a type without changing the application (ie storing the conversion method i

Is there a way to store a conversion strategy (for converting some bytes) into a database and then execute it on the run time. If one were to store a complete java file, you would need to compile it, store the class and some how inject into the already running system. I am not sure how this would be possible. But using some kind of dynamic language on JVM would be nice. I see an example of execution of groovy from within spring context here http://www.devx.com/tips/Tip/42789 but this is still static in nature as application context contains the reference to the implementation and cannot be changed by database. Perhaps with JavaConfig of context it is possible. I am exploring options now, specifically with Spring 3.0. Your suggestions in any direction would be welcome.

DAL without web2py

I am using web2py to power my web site. I decided to use the web2py DAL for a long running program that runs behind the site. This program does not seem to update its data or the database (sometimes). from gluon.sql import * from gluon.sql import SQLDB from locdb import * # contains # db = SQLDB("mysql://user/pw@localhost/mydb", pool_size=10) # db.define_table('orders', Field('status', 'integer'), Field('item', 'string'), # migrate='orders.table') orderid = 20 # there is row with id == 20 in table orders #when I do db(db.orders.id==orderid).update(status=6703) db.commit() It does not update the database, and a select on orders with this id, shows the correct data. In some circumstances a "db.rollback()" after a commit seems to help. Very strange to say the least. Have you seen this, more importantly do you know the solution? Jay
