• How to solve/hack fading semi-transparent PNG bug in IE8?

  As you know, IE6 has bug that can't display semi-transparent PNG file without using non-standard style like filter. In IE7, this problem is fixed. But It still has some bug about PNG file. It can't correctly display fading semi-transparent PNG file. You can clearly see it when you use show/hide function in jQuery with semi-transparent PNG file. The background of image is displayed with non-transparent black color. Do you have any idea for solve this question by using jQuery. Update Let's see my testing As you see, IE8 always incorrectly displays PNG-24 image. Moreover, IE8 still correctly display PNG-8 image when I fade(jQuery.fadeOut function) it only. • Adding rows to UItableview and passing data between Viewcontrollers

  I have a list of websites in a plist, when the app loads this populates a tableview (which is inside a navigation controller) But I have added an add button to the navigation bar and then created another View Controller to deal with inputting of the new website (Like Title and URL). It is very similar to how the contacts app looks. There is a table view and when you tap add, the add UI slides up. I have got all this working great so far. My Problem is what happens when the user taps Done. I can add the website to the plist (each website is a dictionary in the plist with 2 keys, atm) But then how do I tell the tableView to update? The table view has not been removed from the main window, just the add view has been added on top of the "screen". Another way of asking is, when you tap Save on Add a Contact screen: (not my image) How does the new contact's data (Xyz's data) get shown on the tableview?

  I have a table in SQL Server 2005 with hundreds of rows with HTML content. Some of the content has HTML like: <span class=heading-2>Directions</span> where "Directions" changes depending on page name. I need to change all the <span class=heading-2> and </span> tags to <h2> and </h2> tags. I wrote this query to do content changes in the past, but it doesn't work for my current problem because of the ending HTML tag: Update ContentManager Set ContentManager.Content = replace(Cast(ContentManager.Content AS NVARCHAR(Max)), 'old text', 'new text') Does anyone know how I could accomplish the span to h2 replacing purely in T-SQL? • Invalid UTF-8 for Postgres, Perl thinks they're ok

  I'm running perl 5.10.0 and Postgres 8.4.3, and strings into a database, which is behind a DBIx::Class. These strings should be in UTF-8, and therefore my database is running in UTF-8. Unfortunatly some of these strings are bad, containing malformed UTF-8, so when I run it I'm getting an exception DBI Exception: DBD::Pg::st execute failed: ERROR: invalid byte sequence for encoding "UTF8": 0xb5 I thought that I could simply ignore the invalid ones, and worry about the malformed UTF-8 later, so using this code, it should flag & ignore the bad titles. if(not utf8::valid($title)){ $title="Invalid UTF-8"; } $data->title($title); $data->update(); However perl seems to think that the strings are valid, but it still throws the exceptions. How can I get perl to detect the bad UTF-8?

• SVN access denied when comparing revisions

  We're using an SVN repository. I am getting the error below when we try to compare a local unmodified file with the latest revision of the file in the repository. In other words, someone's checked in a change and if I update I will get their change but first I want to see what their change was. DOn't think it matters but we're using Xcode and using the menu item SCM - Compare With - Latest. Error: 220001 (Item is not readable) Description: Unreadable path encountered; access denied Any pointers where to look to fix this appreciated. I looked in the svnserve.conf which has the default settings. Nothing jumped out to me. Also, % svn log returns "svn: Item is not readable". Thanks, Gonzalo

• Transition domain to new web host without waiting for DNS propagation

  I was considering switching to Amazon EC2 to host my website to handle more traffic. It seems like I would have to update DNS records to point to the new server but I was wondering if there was a way to avoid having to wait for the new DNS record to propagate. Putting the code on both hosts would not work for me since the app writes to a database pretty frequently. I thought about just using a meta redirect or php redirect on the old host to redirect to the new host ip but was wondering if there's a better more accepted way of doing this.

I mean, to me it just inherits/copies all those properties. It's not like it's: B.prototype = A.prototype where B and A are one in the same. Q2: After A is being returned and intialized to the prototype object of B, how does JS know not to include that prototype property? What I mean is, we never have this type of situation occuring as the JS interpreter knows just to chop off the property of A's prototype: B.prototype = new A(); //any A object has an associated prototype object B.prototype.prototype;//after initialization we no longer have the separate prototype property of A

  For some reason, we can't update the SVN in some build machines. Installed svn version is 1.3.x. But Hudson slave used 1.6 to create a checkout.   Out of tons of questions and answers here about manipulating PDF's with PHP, but none of them seem to fit my requirement. Programmatically, I want to be able to update the content of editable fields. Preferably with PHP. If it matters, the PDF files will be initially hand crafted (as sort of 'template' files that will be copied and filled in over and over again). The list of PDF_* functions on php.net doesn't give me anything that looks (directly) promising. Is this possible with PHP? How?

  Hello all, I am trying to escape special characters in a TSQL query. I have done this before: SELECT columns FROM table WHERE column LIKE '%\%%' ESCAPE '\' And it has worked. Now I have tried to do this now: UPDATE match SET rule_name='31' ESCAPE '\' But it has failed. I know none of the vlaues have a \ but it should still work. I am guessing its because it needs a LIKE statement but how else can I escape characters that I am adding to a database? In addition, does anyone have a link to all the special characters that should be escaped, I couldn't find any documentation on this! Thanks all for any help

• Android Image Orientation Issue on Motorola Droid

  Hi there, Our app uses the gallery pick action to grab an image from the device to upload to a new blog post. We're seeing on the Moto Droid that images taken in portrait are being sent back to the app in landscape orientation so the image is sideways. AFAIK this only occurs on the Droid. Found this via google, but we need the full size image to be uploaded in the correct orientation so the solution doesn't work for us: http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_frm/thread/1246475fd4c3fdb6?pli=1 An easy way to reproduce this is to take a picture in portrait on the Droid, then send it to yourself via Gmail. In the email message, the image will be in landscape (sideways). I've tested on the droid 2.1 update and the issue is still there.

  Is the format of compiled pixel and vertex shader object files as produced by fxc.exe documented anywhere either officially or unofficially? I'd like to be able to read the constant name to register assignments from the shader files. I know that the effects framework in D3DX can do this, but I need to avoid using D3DX as it may not be installed on user's machines and I don't need it for anything else so I want to avoid them having to run the directx update. If the effects framework can do it, then so can I if I can find out the file format but I can' seem to find it documented anywhere.

• TFSBuild.Proj and Manual SQL Server Work Help?

  Using the VS 2008 GDR update, I have created a database project. I have created a SQL Server deployment package. I have created a database unit test. Using some wizards, the stuff got into my tfsbuild.proj file so near the end of the automated build process a database is created. I lack a little control of the whole process, I now see. What I would like to do is manually deploy the DB, run 3 custom scripts against the DB, and then manually start the DB unit test. I have other non-DB unit tests that already run. I do not want to use VSMDI or ordered unit test stuff because in out multi-developer environment it gets messy. Help!

Update: The actual problems is that each proxy implements the ProxyObject which defines setHandler(..) method. So the 2nd proxy is trying to redefine the method, instead of overriding it in the subclass.

But when I use an Ajax form, and I update the fields of the ajax form. After the client validation dosen't work. Exactly: the ajax postback is not fired, but the validation message is not shown. I think about, I have to refresh the validation after the ajax call but I dont know how I should do it. Anybody can help me?

  How do I extract the parent container of a ListBoxItem? • What type of git server do you use? or how do you use git?

  Hi Let's say we have a small team, 1-5 persons. What type of "git setup" would you use? Would you use gitweb and apache so you could run over http? Or would you use the user-accounts and ssh in some way? Today I'm familiar to use SubVersion thou apache (http), but I'm not sure it is right to setup to use git the same way... Thanks Johan Update: It feels like if we combine the answer that Dietrich Epp and the one hallidave gave I could get a quick and good solution. A common dir in the servers filesystem where all can write, and that dir is also exposed with apache. That way everybody can always get the latest, but only trusted people can write to it...

• ASP.NET MVC 2 RC2 Model Binding with NVARCHAR NOT NULL column

  I have a database column defined as NVARCHAR(1000) NOT NULL DEFAULT(N'') - in other words, a non-nullable text column with a default value of blank. I have a model class generated by the Linq-to-SQL Classes designer, which correctly identifies the property as not nullable. I have a TextAreaFor in my view for that property. I'm using UpdateModel in my controller to fetch the value from the form and populate the model object. If I view the web page and leave the text area blank, UpdateModel insists on setting the property to NULL instead of empty string. (Even if I set the value to blank in code prior to calling UpdateModel, it still overwrites that with NULL). Which, of course, causes the subsequent database update to fail. I could check all such properties for NULL after calling UpdateModel, but that seems ridiculous - surely there must be a better way? Please don't tell me I need a custom model binder for such a simple scenario...!
