  • How to check if Contact has Image?

    - by Pentium10
    I am assigning to an ImageView contacts images using this code: mPhotoView = (ImageView) findViewById(R.id.photo); mPhotoView.setImageURI(objItem.getPhotoUri()); If the contact has no image, this does nothing, and no error is raised. When there is no image, I want to add a default image. So I need to check either if the image was added to the view, or check that the URI holds some image data How do I achieve that? Than I will set default image by this: mPhotoView.setImageResource(R.drawable.ic_contact_picture_2);

  • Completely Removing Views from memory

    - by cannyboy
    I have a view which is set up to train 'voiceprints' of words (this voiceprint code is not mine), and another view which has a slideshow which is controlled by the voiceprint. Unfortunately, these views conflict because they are still in memory. As far as I know, viewDidUnload and dealloc are only called in low-memory situations, and dealloc should not be called directly, so how do I completely remove a view. These views are within uinavigationcontrollers by the way.

  • How to find an audio file's length (in seconds)

    - by mIL3S
    Hi all! (Objective C) Just using simple AudioServicesPlaySystemSoundID and its counterparts, but I can't find in the documentation if there is already a way to find the length of an audio file. I know there is AudioServicesGetPropertyInfo, but that seems to return a byte-buffer - do audio files embed their length in themselves and I can just extract it with this? Or is there perhaps a formula based on bit-rate * fileSize to convert to length-of-time? mIL3S www.milkdrinkingcow.com

  • Getting screen height before first display?

    - by Mark
    Hi, I have a ListView. I populate it with 8 items, that's all that fits vertically on the G1. Some of my users are saying the Droid has a taller screen height, and so I can probably add one or two more items to the ListView to take up the additional space provided. How could I measure the available height the screen offers at startup, before the UI is displayed? If I see the height can fit more than 8 items, I'd like to add one or two more rows, Thanks

  • Google Drive listing, searching and deleting files

    - by omarshammas
    I'm building a web app that integrates with Google Drive, and am wondering if there was a way to list, search or delete files. I see from https://developers.google.com/drive/v1/reference/files#resource that there are 4 operations. If there are no list and search capabilities then the onus is on the app to handle the management. Is there another API I should be using? Are those features in the works?

  • UIButtons display differently on UIImageView when created at design time vs. run time

    - by PRITISH
    I have added some UIButton objects into .xib file, and some UIButton objects with the code. But now I am facing one problem. While Zooming the UIImageView the UIButtons that are added through code are shown on the UIImageView and those that are added with .xib file are below the UIImageView. Code for UIButtons added with code: btnBrightness = UIButton.FromType (UIButtonType.RoundedRect); btnBrightness.Frame = new RectangleF (540, 20, 95, 37); btnBrightness.SetTitle ("Brightness", UIControlState.Normal); More details: monotouch

  • Having a problem with simple bool

    - by Code
    Hi guys, I've some really simple code that checks if my bool is == YES but it does not ever enter. NSLog(@"boool %d",self.arrayAlreadyPopulated ); if (self.arrayAlreadyPopulated == YES) { Match *aMatch = [appDelegate.matchScoresArray objectAtIndex:(numMatchCounter)]; aMatch.teamName1 = TeamNameHolder; } else { Match *aMatch = [[Match alloc] init]; aMatch.teamName1 = TeamNameHolder; [appDelegate.matchScoresArray addObject:aMatch]; [aMatch release]; } The debug at the top says that the value of self.arrayAlreadyPopulated is 1 on the 2nd pass as it should be. But it never enters the first first part but jumps down to the 'else' I cant see for the life of me what the problem is. -.- Anybody able to clue me in? Thanks -Code EDIT declaration code int theCounterCauseABoolWontWork; @property (nonatomic) int theCounterCauseABoolWontWork; @synthesize theCounterCauseABoolWontWork;

  • UITableView which has sections as alphabets and various rows within each section

    - by lifemoves
    Hello I have a database in which I am inserting data by parsing an XML document. Populating the data using Navigation bar control view. I have various NSObjects defined in a class and have populated the data using NSMutableArray. Using UITableview I have populated the data. My question is : I have populated the data with the sections defined in it as alphabets so I have total of 26 sections. Each section has data in form of name. Now when I use cellforrowatIndexpath it does not give me the correct index for row and section together. My code is : (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } /* Index names as in AB ....Z */ NSString *strIndexNames = [arrCharacters objectAtIndex:indexPath.section]; /* object sections has names in each section */ NSArray *arrIndexedCategories = [objSections objectForKey:strIndexNames]; NSString *strName = [arrIndexedCategories objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] ; cell.textLabel.text = strName; cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator; cell.textLabel.font = [UIFont systemFontOfSize:16]; return cell; } Any help whatsoever will be really helpful. • Second query to SQLite (on iPhone) errors.

    - by Luke
    Hi all, On the iPhone, I am developing a class for a cart that connects directly to a database. To view the cart, all items can be pulled from the database, however, it seems that removing them doesn't work. It is surprising to me because the error occurs during connection to the database, except not the second time I connect even after the DB has been closed. #import "CartDB.h" #import "CartItem.h" @implementation CartDB @synthesize database, databasePath; - (NSMutableArray *) getAllItems { NSMutableArray *items = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; if([self openDatabase]) { const char *sqlStatement = "SELECT * FROM items;"; sqlite3_stmt *compiledStatement; if(sqlite3_prepare_v2(cartDatabase, sqlStatement, -1, &compiledStatement, NULL) == SQLITE_OK) { while(sqlite3_step(compiledStatement) == SQLITE_ROW) { int rowId = sqlite3_column_int(compiledStatement, 0); int productId = sqlite3_column_int(compiledStatement, 1); NSString *features = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 2)]; int quantity = sqlite3_column_int(compiledStatement, 3); CartItem *cartItem = [[CartItem alloc] initWithRowId:rowId productId:productId features:features quantity:quantity]; [items addObject:cartItem]; [cartItem release]; } } sqlite3_finalize(compiledStatement); } [self closeDatabase]; return items; } - (BOOL) removeCartItem:(CartItem *)item { sqlite3_stmt *deleteStatement; [self openDatabase]; const char *sql = "DELETE FROM items WHERE id = ?"; if(sqlite3_prepare_v2(cartDatabase, sql, -1, &deleteStatement, NULL) != SQLITE_OK) { return NO; } sqlite3_bind_int(deleteStatement, 1, item.rowId); if(SQLITE_DONE != sqlite3_step(deleteStatement)) { sqlite3_reset(deleteStatement); [self closeDatabase]; return NO; } else { sqlite3_reset(deleteStatement); [self closeDatabase]; return YES; } } - (BOOL) openDatabase { if(sqlite3_open([databasePath UTF8String], &cartDatabase) == SQLITE_OK) { return YES; } else { return NO; } } - (void) closeDatabase { sqlite3_close(cartDatabase); } The error occurs on the line where the connection is opened in openDatabase. Any ideas? Need to flush something? Something gets autoreleased? I really can't figure it out. --Edit-- The error that I receive is GDB: Program received signal "EXC_BAD_ACCESS". --Edit-- I ended up just connecting in the init and closing in the free methods, which might not be the proper way, but that's another question altogether so it's effectively persistent instead of connecting multiple times. Still would be nice to know what was up with this for future reference.

  • Adding images to an array memory issue

    - by Friendlydeveloper
    Hello all, I'm currently facing the following issue: My app dynamically creates images (320 x 480 pixels) and adds them to a NSMutableArray. I need those images inside that array in order to allow users to browse through them back and forth. I only need to keep the latest 5 images. So I wrote a method like below: - (void)addImageToArray:(UIImage*)theImage { if ([myMutableArray count] < 5) { [myMutableArray addObject:theImage]; } else { [myMutableArray removeObjectAtIndex:0]; [myMutableArray addObject:theImage]; } } This method basically does what it's supposed to do. However, in instruments I can see, that memory usage is permanently incrementing. At some point, even though I do not have any memory leaks, the app finally crashes. The way I see it, XCode does remove the image from my array, but does not release it. Is there a way I can make sure, that the object I want to remove from my array will also get released? Maybe my approach is completely wrong and I need to find a different way. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance

  • Which icons/buttons to use for help, about, info?

    - by 4thSpace
    I use the info button to display a settings page. This page is a modal. I need another button from here to display "About" info, since I've already used "info" for something. I have a search form that is accessed only from the modal. On the search form, I need a help icon. I can use the info button but that seems confusing, since I already use the info button from the main view to access the modal. What else can I do for help and about icons/buttons?

  • How do I use a default setting from Root.plist?

    - by crooksy88
    I have set up a default setting for my app using Root.plist, giving this a Boolean DefaultValue of YES (ticked checkbox).You can see a screengrab at http://www.infin8design.com/clients/stack/plist.png However, when my app is first launched, the YES value is not picked up, and the setting is read as a NO (or 0). The user has to manually go into the settings app, turn the toggleswitch off, then turn it back on again for this setting to hold a YES(1) value. I'm logging the value with appDidFinishLaunching like this. - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; NSLog(@"%d",[defaults boolForKey:@"include_phrases"]); SO... my question is... How do I pick up this initial default setting without the user having to set it manually? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can offer. Mark
