• web service not working on GlassFish

  I am generating web service client in Eclipse Helios by Axis 1.4 version. The client stubs are working fine as per the expectation by using local main programs. But When I deploy the stub and application on GlassFish Server, I am getting the following exception : • Something is making my page perform an Ajax call multiple times... [read: I've never been more frust

  NOTE: This is a long question. I've explained all the 'basics' at the top and then there's some further (optional) information for if you need it. Hi folks Basically last night this started happening at about 9PM whilst I was trying to restructure my code to make it a bit nicer for the designer to add a few bits to. I tried to fix it until 2AM at which point I gave up. Came back to it this morning, still baffled. I'll be honest with you, I'm a pretty bad Javascript developer. Since starting this project Javascript has been completely new to me and I've just learn as I went along. So please forgive me if my code structure is really bad (perhaps give a couple of pointers on how to improve it?). So, to the problem: to reproduce it, visit http://furnace.howcode.com (it's far from complete). This problem is a little confusing but I'd really appreciate the help. So in the second column you'll see three tabs The 'Newest' tab is selected by default. Scroll to the bottom, and 3 further results should be dynamically fetched via Ajax. Now click on the 'Top Rated' tab. You'll see all the results, but ordered by rating Scroll to the bottom of 'Top Rated'. You'll see SIX results returned. This is where it goes wrong. Only a further three should be returned (there are 18 entries in total). If you're observant you'll notice two 'blocks' of 3 returned. The first 'block' is the second page of results from the 'Newest' tab. The second block is what I just want returned. Did that make any sense? Never mind! So basically I checked this out in Firebug. What happens is, from a 'Clean' page (first load, nothing done) it calls ONE POST request to http://furnace.howcode.com/code/loadmore . But every time you load a new one of the tabs, it makes an ADDITIONAL POST request each time where there should normally only be ONE. So, can you help me? I'd really appreciate it! At this point you could start independent investigation or read on for a little further (optional) information. Thanks! Jack Further Info (may be irrelevant but here for reference): It's almost like there's some Javascript code or something being left behind that duplicates it each time. I thought it might be this code that I use to detect when the browser is scrolled to the bottom: var col = $('#col2'); col.scroll(function(){ if (col.outerHeight() == (col.get(0).scrollHeight - col.scrollTop())) loadMore(1); }); So what I thought was that code was left behind, and so every time you scroll #col2 (which contains different data for each tab) it detected that and added it for #newest as well. So, I made each tab click give #col2 a dynamic class - either .newestcol, .featuredcol, or .topratedcol. And then I changed the var col=$('.newestcol');dynamically so it would only detect it individually for each tab (makin' any sense?!). But hey, that didn't do anything. • JSF : able to do mass update but unable to update a single row in a datatable

  I have a simple data object: Car. I am showing the properties of Car objects in a JSF datatable. If i display the properties using inputText tags, i am able to get the modified values in the managed bean. However i just want a single row editable. So have placed a edit button in a separate column and inputText and outputText for every property of Car. the edit button just toggles the rendering of inputText and outputText. Plus i placed a update button in a separate column which is used to save the updated values. However on clicking the update button, i still get the old values instead of the modified values. • Why is this class re-initialized every time?

  I have 4 files and the code 'works' as expected. I try to clean everything up, place code into functions, etc... and everything looks fine... and it doesn't work. Can somebody please explain why MatLab is so quirky... or am I just stupid? Normally, I type terminator = simulation(100,20,0,0,0,1); terminator.animate(); and it should produce a map of trees with the terminator walking around in a forest. Everything rotates to his perspective. When I break it into functions... everything ceases to work. I really only changed a few lines of code, shown in comments.   I have a dropdownbox (percent), a input box(price) and a input box (total) When you select a percent from the dropdown, it multiplies the value of the selected dropdown times the price value and input the result in the total input box. This works well with one input box, but what I am trying to do is to use asp and when you select a percent from the drop down box, it will calcualate the rest of the total fields.   After searching a lot i did not get any answers and finally i had to get back to you. Below i am explaining my problem in detail. It's too long, so please don't quit reading. I have explained my problem in simple language. I have been developing an asp.net mvc project. I am using standard ASP.NET roles and membership. Everything is working fine but the remember me functionality doesn't work at all. I am listing all the details of work. Hope you guys can help me out solve this problem. I simply need this: I need user to login to web application. During login they can either login with remember me or without it. If user logs in with remember me, i want browser to remember them for long time, let's say atleast one year or considerably long time. The way they do it in www.dotnetspider.com,www.codeproject.com,www.daniweb.com and many other sites. If user logs in without remember me, then browser should allow access to website for some 20 -30 minutes and after that their session should expire. Their session should also expire when user logs in and shuts down the browser without logging out. Note: I have succesfully implemented above functionality without using standard asp.net roles and membership by creating my own talbes for user and authenticating against my database table, setting cookie and sessions in my other projects. But for this project we starting from the beginning used standard asp.net roles and membership. We thought it will work and after everything was build at the time of testing it just didn't work. and now we cannot replace the existing functionality with standard asp.net roles and membership with my own custom user tables and all the stuff, you understand what i am taling about. Either there is some kind of bug with standard asp.net roles and membership functionality or i have the whole concept of standard asp.net roles and membership wrong. i have stated what i want above. I think it's very simple and reasonable. What i did Login form with username,password and remember me field. My setting in web.config: <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms loginUrl="~/Account/LogOn" timeout="2880"/> </authentication> in My controller action, i have this: FormsAuth.SignIn(userName, rememberMe); public void SignIn(string userName, bool createPersistentCookie) { FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(userName, createPersistentCookie); } Now the problems are following: I have already stated in above section "I simply need this". user can successfully log in to the system. Their session exists for as much minutes as specified in timeout value in web.config. I have also given a sample of my web.config. In my samplem if i set the timeout to 5 minutes,then user session expires after 5 minutes, that's ok. But if user closes the browser and reopen the browser, user can still enter the website without loggin in untill time specified in "timeout" has not passed out. The sliding expiration for timeout value is also working fine. Now if user logs in to the system with remember me checked, user session still expires after 5 minutes. This is not good behaviour, is it?. I mean to say that if user logs in to the system with remember me checked he should be remembered for a long time untill he doesn't logs out of the system or user doesn't manually deletes all the cookies from the browser. If user logs in to the system without remember me checked his session should expire after the timeout period values specified in web.config and also if users closes the browser. The problem is that if user closes the browser and reopens it he can still enter the website without logging in. I search internet a lot on this topic, but i could not get the solution. In the blog post(http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2005/11/08/430011.aspx) made by Scott Gu on exactly the same topic. The users are complaining about the same thing in their comments ut there is no easy solution given in by Mr. Scott.   Hello everyone, I was wondering if you can help me with this program. I have been struggling with it for hours and have just trashed my code because the TA doesn't like how I executed it. I am completely hopeless and if anyone can help me out step by step, I would greatly appreciate it. In this project you will write a Java program that reads a positive integer n from standard input, then prints out the first n prime numbers. We say that an integer m is divisible by a non-zero integer d if there exists an integer k such that m = k d , i.e. if d divides evenly into m. Equivalently, m is divisible by d if the remainder of m upon (integer) division by d is zero. We would also express this by saying that d is a divisor of m. A positive integer p is called prime if its only positive divisors are 1 and p. The one exception to this rule is the number 1 itself, which is considered to be non-prime. A positive integer that is not prime is called composite. Euclid showed that there are infinitely many prime numbers. The prime and composite sequences begin as follows: Primes: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, … Composites: 1, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, … There are many ways to test a number for primality, but perhaps the simplest is to simply do trial divisions. Begin by dividing m by 2, and if it divides evenly, then m is not prime. Otherwise, divide by 3, then 4, then 5, etc. If at any point m is found to be divisible by a number d in the range 2 d m-1, then halt, and conclude that m is composite. Otherwise, conclude that m is prime. A moment’s thought shows that one need not do any trial divisions by numbers d which are themselves composite. For instance, if a trial division by 2 fails (i.e. has non-zero remainder, so m is odd), then a trial division by 4, 6, or 8, or any even number, must also fail. Thus to test a number m for primality, one need only do trial divisions by prime numbers less than m. Furthermore, it is not necessary to go all the way up to m-1. One need only do trial divisions of m by primes p in the range 2 p m . To see this, suppose m 1 is composite. Then there exist positive integers a and b such that 1 < a < m, 1 < b < m, and m = ab . But if both a m and b m , then ab m, contradicting that m = ab . Hence one of a or b must be less than or equal to m . To implement this process in java you will write a function called isPrime() with the following signature: static boolean isPrime(int m, int[] P) This function will return true or false according to whether m is prime or composite. The array argument P will contain a sufficient number of primes to do the testing. Specifically, at the time isPrime() is called, array P must contain (at least) all primes p in the range 2 p m . For instance, to test m = 53 for primality, one must do successive trial divisions by 2, 3, 5, and 7. We go no further since 11 53 . Thus a precondition for the function call isPrime(53, P) is that P[0] = 2 , P[1] = 3 , P[2] = 5, and P[3] = 7 . The return value in this case would be true since all these divisions fail. Similarly to test m =143 , one must do trial divisions by 2, 3, 5, 7, and 11 (since 13 143 ). The precondition for the function call isPrime(143, P) is therefore P[0] = 2 , P[1] = 3 , P[2] = 5, P[3] = 7 , and P[4] =11. The return value in this case would be false since 11 divides 143. Function isPrime() should contain a loop that steps through array P, doing trial divisions. This loop should terminate when 2 either a trial division succeeds, in which case false is returned, or until the next prime in P is greater than m , in which case true is returned. Function main() in this project will read the command line argument n, allocate an int array of length n, fill the array with primes, then print the contents of the array to stdout according to the format described below. In the context of function main(), we will refer to this array as Primes[]. Thus array Primes[] plays a dual role in this project. On the one hand, it is used to collect, store, and print the output data. On the other hand, it is passed to function isPrime() to test new integers for primality. Whenever isPrime() returns true, the newly discovered prime will be placed at the appropriate position in array Primes[]. This process works since, as explained above, the primes needed to test an integer m range only up to m , and all of these primes (and more) will already be stored in array Primes[] when m is tested. Of course it will be necessary to initialize Primes[0] = 2 manually, then proceed to test 3, 4, … for primality using function isPrime(). The following is an outline of the steps to be performed in function main(). • Check that the user supplied exactly one command line argument which can be interpreted as a positive integer n. If the command line argument is not a single positive integer, your program will print a usage message as specified in the examples below, then exit. • Allocate array Primes[] of length n and initialize Primes[0] = 2 . • Enter a loop which will discover subsequent primes and store them as Primes[1] , Primes[2], Primes[3] , ……, Primes[n -1] . This loop should contain an inner loop which walks through successive integers and tests them for primality by calling function isPrime() with appropriate arguments. • Print the contents of array Primes[] to stdout, 10 to a line separated by single spaces. Here's the situation: I've got a form with a tinyMCE control that i load into a jquery dialog. it works great the first time, then after they close it, and open a new one. any interaction with the tinyMCE control gives: "Node cannot be used in a document other than the one in which it was created" it also doesn't fill the control with the text it's supposed to be prepopulated with. I have tried the suggestion from aknosis with no luck. EDIT: I originally thought this only affected firefox 11, but i have downloaded 10, and it is also affected.   I've got a contact form with 3 fields and a textarea... I use jQuery to validate it and then php to send emails. This contact form works fine but, when I receive an email, From field isn't correct. I'd like to want that From field shows text typed in the Name field of the contact form.   After searching a lot i did not get any answers and finally i had to get back to you. Below i am explaining my problem in detail. It's too long, so please don't quit reading. I have explained my problem in simple language. I have been developing an asp.net mvc project. I am using standard ASP.NET roles and membership. Everything is working fine but the remember me functionality doesn't work at all. I am listing all the details of work. Hope you guys can help me out solve this problem. I simply need this: I need user to login to web application. During login they can either login with remember me or without it. If user logs in with remember me, i want browser to remember them for long time, let's say atleast one year or considerably long time. The way they do it in www.dotnetspider.com,www.codeproject.com,www.daniweb.com and many other sites. If user logs in without remember me, then browser should allow access to website for some 20 -30 minutes and after that their session should expire. Their session should also expire when user logs in and shuts down the browser without logging out. Note: I have succesfully implemented above functionality without using standard asp.net roles and membership by creating my own talbes for user and authenticating against my database table, setting cookie and sessions in my other projects. But for this project we starting from the beginning used standard asp.net roles and membership. We thought it will work and after everything was build at the time of testing it just didn't work. and now we cannot replace the existing functionality with standard asp.net roles and membership with my own custom user tables and all the stuff, you understand what i am taling about. Either there is some kind of bug with standard asp.net roles and membership functionality or i have the whole concept of standard asp.net roles and membership wrong. i have stated what i want above. I think it's very simple and reasonable. What i did Login form with username,password and remember me field. In my samplem if i set the timeout to 5 minutes,then user session expires after 5 minutes, that's ok. But if user closes the browser and reopen the browser, user can still enter the website without loggin in untill time specified in "timeout" has not passed out. The sliding expiration for timeout value is also working fine. Now if user logs in to the system with remember me checked, user session still expires after 5 minutes. This is not good behaviour, is it?. I mean to say that if user logs in to the system with remember me checked he should be remembered for a long time untill he doesn't logs out of the system or user doesn't manually deletes all the cookies from the browser. If user logs in to the system without remember me checked his session should expire after the timeout period values specified in web.config and also if users closes the browser. The problem is that if user closes the browser and reopens it he can still enter the website without logging in. I search internet a lot on this topic, but i could not get the solution. The users are complaining about the same thing in their comments ut there is no easy solution given in by Mr. Scott. • GDI+ crashes when loading PNG from IStream

  I wrote something to load PNG files from a custom C++ IStream via GDI+. It worked great until I ran it on Vista machines. Crashes every time. When compiled on VS 2008, I found that inserting code into the IStream::AddRef method, such as a cout, made the problem go away. When compiling with VS 2010, it still crashes regardless of that. I stripped the program down to its basics. I copied a FileStream straight from Microsoft's documentation. It can load PNGs when using Bitmap::FromFile. It can load JPEGs, GIFs, and BMPs via FromFile or FromStream. • Approaches for generic, compile-time safe lazy-load methods

  Suppose I have created a wrapper class like the following: public class Foo : IFoo { private readonly IFoo innerFoo; public Foo(IFoo innerFoo) { this.innerFoo = innerFoo; } public int? Baz { get; set; } } The idea here is that the innerFoo might wrap data-access methods or something similarly expensive, and I only want its GetBar and GetBaz methods to be invoked once. So I want to create another wrapper around it, which will save the values obtained on the first run. It's simple enough to do this, of course: int IFoo.GetBar() { if ((Bar == null) && (innerFoo != null)) Bar = innerFoo.GetBar(); return Bar ?? 0; } int IFoo.GetBaz() { if ((Baz == null) && (innerFoo != null)) Baz = innerFoo.GetBaz(); return Baz ?? 0; } But it gets pretty repetitive if I'm doing this with 10 different properties and 30 different wrappers. So I figured, hey, let's make this generic: T LazyLoad<T>(ref T prop, Func<IFoo, T> loader) { if ((prop == null) && (innerFoo != null)) prop = loader(innerFoo); return prop; } Which almost gets me where I want, but not quite, because you can't ref an auto-property (or any property at all). In other words, I can't write this: int IFoo.GetBar() { return LazyLoad(ref Bar, f => f.GetBar()); // <--- Won't compile } Instead, I'd have to change Bar to have an explicit backing field and write explicit getters and setters. Which is fine, except for the fact that I end up writing even more redundant code than I was writing in the first place. Then I considered the possibility of using expression trees: T LazyLoad<T>(Expression<Func<T>> propExpr, Func<IFoo, T> loader) { var memberExpression = propExpr.Body as MemberExpression; if (memberExpression != null) { // Use Reflection to inspect/set the property } } This plays nice with refactoring - it'll work great if I do this: return LazyLoad(f => f.Bar, f => f.GetBar()); But it's not actually safe, because someone less clever (i.e. myself in 3 days from now when I inevitably forget how this is implemented internally) could decide to write this instead: return LazyLoad(f => 3, f => f.GetBar()); Which is either going to crash or result in unexpected/undefined behaviour, depending on how defensively I write the LazyLoad method. So I don't really like this approach either, because it leads to the possibility of runtime errors which would have been prevented in the first attempt. It also relies on Reflection, which feels a little dirty here, even though this code is admittedly not performance-sensitive. Now I could also decide to go all-out and use DynamicProxy to do method interception and not have to write any code, and in fact I already do this in some applications. But this code is residing in a core library which many other assemblies depend on, and it seems horribly wrong to be introducing this kind of complexity at such a low level. Separating the interceptor-based implementation from the IFoo interface by putting it into its own assembly doesn't really help; the fact is that this very class is still going to be used all over the place, must be used, so this isn't one of those problems that could be trivially solved with a little DI magic. The last option I've already thought of would be to have a method like: T LazyLoad<T>(Func<T> getter, Action<T> setter, Func<IFoo, T> loader) { ... } This option is very "meh" as well - it avoids Reflection but is still error-prone, and it doesn't really reduce the repetition that much. It's almost as bad as having to write explicit getters and setters for each property. Maybe I'm just being incredibly nit-picky, but this application is still in its early stages, and it's going to grow substantially over time, and I really want to keep the code squeaky-clean. Bottom line: I'm at an impasse, looking for other ideas. Question: Is there any way to clean up the lazy-loading code at the top, such that the implementation will: Guarantee compile-time safety, like the ref version; Actually reduce the amount of code repetition, like the Expression version; and Not take on any significant additional dependencies? In other words, is there a way to do this just using regular C# language features and possibly a few small helper classes? Or am I just going to have to accept that there's a trade-off here and strike one of the above requirements from the list?

• JavaFX FXML communication between Application and Controller classes

  I am trying to get and destroy an external process I've created via ProcessBuilder in my FXML application close, but it's not working. This is based on the helpful advice Sergey Grinev gave me here. I have tried running with/without the "// myController.setApp(this);" and with "// super.stop();" at top of subclass and at bottom (see commented out/in for that line in MyApp), but no combination works. This probably isn't related to FXML or JavaFX, though I imagine this is a common pattern for developing apps on JavaFX. I suppose I'm asking for a Java best practice for closing dependent processes in a UI-based app like this one (in this case: FXML / JavaFX based), where there is a controller class and an application class. Can you explain what I'm doing wrong? Or better: advise what I should be doing instead? Thanks. • Users being forced to re-login randomly, before session and auth ticket timeout values are reached

  I'm having reports and complaints from my user that they will be using a screen and get kicked back to the login screen immediately on their next request. It doesn't happen all the time but randomly. After looking at the Web server the error that shows up in the application event log is: Event code: 4005 Event message: Forms authentication failed for the request. Reason: The ticket supplied has expired. Everything that I read starts out with people asking about web gardens or load balancing. We are not using either of those. We're a single Windows 2003 (32-bit OS, 64-bit hardware) Server with IIS6. This is the only website on this server too. This behavior does not generate any application exceptions or visible issues to the user. They just get booted back to the login screen and are forced to login. As you can imagine this is extremely annoying and counter-productive for our users. Here's what I have set in my web.config for the application in the root: <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms name=".TcaNet" protection="All" timeout="40" loginUrl="~/Login.aspx" defaultUrl="~/MyHome.aspx" path="/" slidingExpiration="true" requireSSL="false" /> </authentication> I have also read that if you have some locations setup that no longer exist or are bogus you could have issues. I've read some things that say you should have the authentication timeout shorter (40) than the session timeout (45) to avoid possible complications. Either way we have users that get kicked to the login screen a minute or two after their last action. So the session definitely should not be expiring. Update 2/23/09: I've since set the session timeout and authentication ticket timeout values to both be 45 and the problem still seems to be happening. The only other web.config in the application is in 1 virtual directory that hosts Community Server. • PHP submit problem

  I'm trying to check if the username is available and display it for the user to see when they check there account settings, which I have done. BUT when the user tries to fill out another field I get the Your username is unavailable! which should not pop up because its the users username already. I want to know how can I fix this problem using PHP so that the users name is displayed every time the user views their account settings and it wont cause problems when a user submits additional info? • Problem with entityForName & ManagedObjectContext when extending tutorial material

  Afternoon all, I tried to add a second data entity to the persistent store in the (locations) coredata tutorial code, and then access this in a new view. I think that I've followed the tutorial, and checked that I'm doing a clean build etc, but can't see what to change to prevent it crashing. I'm afraid I'm at my wits end with this one, and can't seem to find the step that I've missed. I've pasted the header and code files below, please let me know if I need to share any more of the code.
