Slide div inside another div effect

I am trying to create sliding images effect: Online demolink text. The problem is when you click rapidly and randomly on the buttons and not wait for animation to finish causing unpredicted results and even stopping the functionality to work. (and once it stopped in the middle of 2 images...) How Can I make it work without bugs? I know that there are some other tools for that sliding like jquery and other approaches like changing the position attribute and not the scrollLeft attribute. But I want to do it as it is, with scrollLeft, if it possible of course. trouble running smooth animation in thread only when using key listener

first time using a forum for coding help so sorry if i post this all wrong. i have more than a few classes i don't think screenManger or core holds the problem but i included them just incase. i got most of this code working through a set of tutorials. but a certain point started trying to do more on my own. i want to play the animation only when i'm moving my sprite. in my KeyTest class i am using threads to run the animation it used to work (poorly) but now not at all pluss it really gunks up my computer. i think it's because of the thread. im new to threads so i'm not to sure if i should even be using one in this situation or if its dangerous for my computer. the animation worked smoothly when i had the sprite bouce around the screen forever. the animation loop played with out stopping. i think the main problem is between the animationThread, Sprite, and keyTest classes, but itcould be more indepth. if someone could point me in the right direction for making the animation run smoothly when i push down a key and stop runing when i let off it would be greatly apriciated. i already looked at this Java a moving animation (sprite) obviously we were doing the same tutorial. but i feel my problem is slightly different. p.s. sorry for the typos. import java.awt.*; Why does jquery leak memory so badly?

This is kind of a follow-up to a question I posted last week: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2429056/simple-jquery-ajax-call-leaks-memory-in-ie I love the jquery syntax and all of its nice features, but I've been having trouble with a page that automatically updates table cells via ajax calls leaking memory. So I created two simple test pages for experimenting. Both pages do an ajax call every .1 seconds. After each successful ajax call, a counter is incremented and the DOM is updated. The script stops after 1000 cycles. One uses jquery for both the ajax call and to update the DOM. The other uses the Yahoo API for the ajax and does a document.getElementById(...).innerHTML to update the DOM. The jquery version leaks memory badly. Running in drip (on XP Home with IE7), it starts at 9MB and finishes at about 48MB, with memory growing linearly the whole time. If I comment out the line that updates the DOM, it still finishes at 32MB, suggesting that even simple DOM updates leak a significant amount of memory. The non-jquery version starts and finishes at about 9MB, regardless of whether it updates the DOM. Does anyone have a good explanation of what is causing jquery to leak so badly? Am I missing something obvious? Is there a circular reference that I'm not aware of? Or does jquery just have some serious memory issues? Afetr using the Model library (see this) for my Maven pom.xml during this weeks I jumped on this error while attempting to write a ConfiguratonContainer into the pom.xml. The javadoc for Model says: public void setConfiguration(Object configuration) Set the configuration as DOM object. Parameters: configuration - So I made some xml with Document (org.w3c.dom.Document) and the xml parser standar javax library. You know the code (it's through all the net) but I paste it here... DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); DocumentBuilder parser = factory.newDocumentBuilder(); Document doc =parser.newDocument(); And then you fill the code with Element declaration,a lot of appendChild and such. And tried to make it work. Doesn't seem to do well. First tried using plugin.setConfiguration(doc); But it didn't work. Then I tried Obejct obj = doc; plugin.setConfiguration(obj); But it didn't work. Then I searched the net for answers, and guess... It didn't work. There are like 0 people using this library (maven.model) in all the net. So here am I again, asking the senseis for help. Where is my error? Broken corba object references

I'm working on a homework and got stuck. The task is to serve objects using a default servant. But when I try to use the reference, weird things happen. Some part of corba prints a stack trace, but no exception is thrown. The problem happens when the server receives the reference and should call some method on it. The reference is then shortened and doesn't contain the object ID (which means that my servant implementation can't do anything reasonable). Two-way databinding of a custom templated control. Eval works, but not Bind.

I hate long code snippets and I'm sorry about this one, but it turns out that this asp.net stuff can't get much shorter and it's so specific that I haven't been able to generalize it without a full code listing. I just want simple two-way, declarative databinding to a single instance of an object. Not a list of objects of a type with a bunch of NotImplementedExceptions for Add, Delete, and Select, but just a single view-state persisted object. This is certainly something that can be done but I've struggled with an implementation for years. This newest, closest implementation was inspired by this article from 4-Guys-From-Rolla, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa478964.aspx. Unfortunately, after implementing, I'm getting the following error and I don't know what I'm missing: System.InvalidOperationException: Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control. If I don't use Bind(), and only use Eval() functionality, it works. In that way, the error is especially confusing. Optimizing Python code with many attribute and dictionary lookups

I have written a program in Python which spends a large amount of time looking up attributes of objects and values from dictionary keys. I would like to know if there's any way I can optimize these lookup times, potentially with a C extension, to reduce the time of execution, or if I need to simply re-implement the program in a compiled language. The program implements some algorithms using a graph. It runs prohibitively slowly on our data sets, so I profiled the code with cProfile using a reduced data set that could actually complete. The vast majority of the time is being burned in one function, and specifically in two statements, generator expressions, within the function: The generator expression at line 202 is neighbors_in_selected_nodes = (neighbor for neighbor in node_neighbors if neighbor in selected_nodes) and the generator expression at line 204 is neighbor_z_scores = (interaction_graph.node[neighbor]['weight'] for neighbor in neighbors_in_selected_nodes) The source code for this function of context provided below. selected_nodes is a set of nodes in the interaction_graph, which is a NetworkX Graph instance. node_neighbors is an iterator from Graph.neighbors_iter(). Graph itself uses dictionaries for storing nodes and edges. Its Graph.node attribute is a dictionary which stores nodes and their attributes (e.g., 'weight') in dictionaries belonging to each node. Each of these lookups should be amortized constant time (i.e., O(1)), however, I am still paying a large penalty for the lookups. Is there some way which I can speed up these lookups (e.g., by writing parts of this as a C extension), or do I need to move the program to a compiled language? Why doesn't my QsciLexerCustom subclass work in PyQt4 using QsciScintilla?

My end goal is to get Erlang syntax highlighting in QsciScintilla using PyQt4 and Python 2.6. I'm running on Windows 7, but will also need Ubuntu support. PyQt4 is missing the necessary wrapper code for the Erlang lexer/highlighter that "base" scintilla has, so I figured I'd write a lightweight one on top of QsciLexerCustom. It's a little bit problematic, because the Qsci wrapper seems to really want to talk about line+index rather than offset-from-start when getting/setting subranges of text. Meanwhile, the lexer gets arguments as offset-from-start. For now, I get a copy of the entire text, and split that up as appropriate. I have the following lexer, and I apply it with setLexer(). It gets all the appropriate calls when I open a new file and sets this as the lexer, and prints a bunch of appropriate lines based on what it's doing... but there is no styling in the document. I tried making all the defined styles red, and the document is still stubbornly black-on-white, so apparently the styles don't really "take effect" What am I doing wrong? If nobody here knows, what's the appropriate discussion forum where people might actually know these things? (It's an interesting intersection between Python, Qt and Scintilla, so I imagine the set of people who would know is small) Let's assume prefs.declare() just sets up a dict that returns the value for the given key (I've verified this -- it's not the problem). Apache/PHP serving file multiple times

I have a system with a download.php page. The page takes and id and loads a file based on from the DB Record and then serves it up. I've noticed a couple instances where files are requested multiple times in short time spans (20ms). Times that are too quick for human input. There are plenty of instances where the downloader functions fine. However, in taking a closer look at the downloader’s usage, I did see some interesting behavior. For instance, the IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (which is one in a range owned by xxxxxx.de in Germany) came to the site through Google. They browsed around and then came to the page http://site.com/xxxx/press+125.php There they issued a request for /download.php?id=/ZZ/n+aH55Y= (a PDF) at 9:04:23AM. That alone is not a big deal. However, what is interesting is that the server seems to have been quite preoccupied with serving that request. In the logs the request first completes between 9:09:48 and 9:10:00. It looks like the user must have gotten tired of waiting during that time and requested the document two more times. Between 09:14:47 and 09:15:00 the same request appears again, except it is from 9:04:43AM, 20ms later than the first request. Then it pops up a third time, with a request that started at 09:05:06 completing between 09:19:55 and 09:19:58! I’m suspicious of that document. In looking through the logs I see other instances where it takes the server a little while to handle that specific file. Check out this list of requests from zzz.zzz.zzz.zzz[different than above] for the file /download.php?id=/ZZ/n+aH55Y= (the same docuemnt as before): Request time Complete Time 04:32:43 04:33:36 04:32:50 04:33:36 04:32:51 04:33:38 04:33:05 04:33:38 04:33:34 04:33:42 04:33:05 04:33:42 So something is definitely going on. Whether it has to do with this specific document tripping up the server, the download.php page’s code, or if we’re just seeing the evidence of some server level overload as it plays out in real time I’m not yet sure. In fairness, there are other instances of people downloading /download.php?id=/ZZ/n+aH55Y= (the same PDF) without error. However, it is interesting that the multiple processes only seem to happen with this one file, and then only when it is accessed through the page http://site.com/press+125.php . It bears further investigation if there’s something amiss inside the code that causes the system to fire off multiple download requests that occupy the server. I don't know if this press+125.php is a rabbit hole, but there is weird consicence. Any ideas? I'm totally out of ideas. Apache maxed out? jQuery gallery scrolling effect with ease

So, I got this page from a friend and I think the gallery is amazingly done. Too bad it's in Flash ; http://selected.com/en/#/collection/homme/ Now, I'm trying to replicate the effect with jQuery. I've made all the loco searches on google one could think of. Zooming the picture is not a problem, the problem lies within the scrolling, how they come together at the ease part. I'm looking for solution in how to make the thumbnail animate when you scroll the page, they drag behind and infront of each other in a very subtle way - I've got (With a lot of help from Whirl3d in the jQuery-irc channel) this for the scrollup/down part of the mouse but the scrolling goes haywire; I Thought I post it here where I've come many times to get answers to a lot of questions and code-errors. Bulk inserting and updating with Entity Framework (Probably a better alternative?)

I have a data set of devices, addresses, and companies that I need to import into our database, with the catch that our database may already include a specific device/address/company that is included in the new data set. If that is the case, I need to update that entry with the new information in the data set, excluding addresses. We check if an exact copy of that address exists, otherwise we make a new entry. My issue is that it is very slow to attempt to grab a device/company in EF and if it exist updated it, otherwise insert it. To fix this I tried to get all the companies, devices, and addresses and insert them into respective hashmaps, and check if the identifier of the new data exists in the hashmap. This hasn't led to any performance increases. I've included my code below. Typically I would do a batch insert, I'm not sure what I would do for a batch update though. This code runs fine on all emulators and PDAs running WM 5 and 6. We have seen an issue with a couple of customers running Treo smartphones (and only on the Sprint network). We have tested the code on an identical device on the AT&T network (via DeviceAnywhere) and once again the code worked as we expected. This has to be some sort of security policy on the phone, but we've been unable to determine a workaround or diagnose it thoroughly as we cannot reproduce it in house and have had to resort to getting users to assist with running test drivers for us. When this code executes, the user's device throws the following exception: System.Net.WebException Could not establish secure channel for SSL/TLS Stack trace: at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.finishGetRequestStream() at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetRequestStream() at OurApp.GetResponseStream(String domain, Hashtable parameters) inner exception: System.IO.IOException Authentication failed because the remote party has closed the transport stream. Stack trace: at System.Net.SslConnectionState.ClientSideHandshake() at System.Net.SslConnectionState.PerformClientHandShake() at System.Net.Connection.connect(Object ignored) at System.Threading.ThreadPool.WorkItem.doWork(Object o) at System.Threading.Timer.ring() Examining the server Apache logs shows no hits from the user's IP - I don't think the device is even attempting to send a packet before failing. If relevant, the server is running Apache on Linux and is written using the TurboGears Python framework. The server certificate is issued by a CA and is still valid. The test driver where this error was copied from was not code signed, however the same error (without the error messages) is signed with a GeoTrust certificate so we don't believe this is a code signing issue. The application installs and launches without issue on all phones - it's just establishing this SSL connection that is breaking for these users. One significant issue in troubleshooting is that there is a substantial inconvenience each time we try out a solution (need to find a "volunteer" customer), so we're really looking for a silver bullet or a better understanding of the handshaking process so we can be reasonably confident we only need to ask the user to test it one or two more times. One final mention: we have tried the sync both over ActiveSync and also over GPRS with identical results. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Checkbox values to varchar via Spring

I am trying to get a varchar message from a database to display the selected values of a checkbox field in a jsp for patient's medication's dosage frequency. The possible values will be saved in comma-delimited string in the varchar. For most form fields there is simply a one form value to one database field ratio, but in this case, I am needing to merge the values that would come as a string[] into the comma-delimited string and then when retrieving that record for that medication of that patient, display the selected values from the comma-delimited string as selected from the selectableDosageFrequencyList. You assistance in this is greatly appreciated as I am not sure what I am missing here. Creating an element and insertBefore is not working...

Ok, I've been banging my head up against the wall on this and I have no clue why it isn't creating the element. Maybe something very small that I overlooked here. The problem here is that within this function, the div never gets created at all and I can't understand why? Furthermore Firefox, FireBug is telling me that the variable divName is undefined, even though I have attempted to take care of this within the function, though not sure why. Anyways, I need the created div element to be inserted just before the following HTML: echo ' <div name="dp_Reserved_Shoutbox" style="padding-bottom: 9px;"></div>'; I'm using name here instead of id because I don't want duplicate id values which is why I'm changing the name value and incrementing, since this function may be called more than 1 time. For example if there are 3 shoutboxes on the same page (Don't ask why...lol), I need to skip the other names that I already changed to "dp_Reserved_Counted", which I believe I am doing correctly. In any case, if I could I would place this into the header and have it called just once, but this isn't possible as these are loaded and no way of telling which one's they are, so it's directly hard-coded into the actual output on the page of where the shoutbox is within the HTML. Basically, not sure if that is the problem or not, but there must be some sort of work-around, unless the problem is within my code above... arrg Please help me. Thanks :)

Binding Entity Framework Collections Simply Using ASP.NET MVC

To begin with: Using Entity Framework v4.0. ASP.NET MVC 2.0. Visual Studio 2010. I have a model that consists simply of an order & order items. What I want to do is simply bind that model without too much hassle where possible (avoiding type converters, etc). This model is coming directly from the code generated by the entity framework generator. I would prefer to use the model directly from the entity framework (I know there are views saying this is a bad thing, but alas). Facebook Registration Plugin redirects in wrong situation

I am using the PHP Facebook SDK to leverage the Facebook registration/login plugin. Unfortunately, even when I access this page from a brand-new browser (Firefox, just installed, which means no cookies or sessions exist) and I am still redirected. Note the PHP code below[2]. Also, the SITE_HOST is a constant for the www. address. I think the actual condition that is being met is response.status being equal to "unknown". This status check implies an unsuccessful response from Facebook, right? Without this getLoginStatus check in the code, it will actually load the the registration page, and a Facebook registration form: Note how it says: "You have registered", which I did a month ago (assuming this qualification is met by allowing the Facebook App permissions, which was done when I initially installed the Facebook SDK). So why would the redirect code work for me (seemingly), then still redirect me when I am using a browser NOT signed in to Facebook? Also, the jQuery function at the bottom of the script loads all.js. This is all I need, right? Footnotes: Someone with "connected" status is logged in to Facebook and has approved your Facebook App permissions. No matter which page this was on it caused this, and since this code appears in a global include file, I've restricting from printing to only on the registration page, which was the intention for this code to my understanding.
