  • Common JNDI resources in Tomcat

    Hi, I’m running a couple of servlet applications in Tomcat (5.5). All of the servlets use a common factory resource that is shared out using JNDI. At the moment, I can get everything working by including the factory resource as a GlobalNamingResource in the /conf/server.xml file, and then having each servlet’s META-INF/context.xml file include a ResourceLink to the resource. Snippets from the XML files are included below. NOTE: I’m not that familiar with tomcat, so I’m not saying that this is a good configuration!!! However, I now want to be able install these servlets into multiple tomcat instances automatically using an RPM. The RPM will firstly copy the WARs to the webapps directory, and the jars for the factory into the common/lib directory (which is fine). But it will also need to make sure that the factory resource is included as a resource for all of the servlets. What is the best way add the resource globally? I’m not too keen on writing a script that goes into the server.xml file and adds in the resource that way. Is there any way for me to add in multiple server.xml files so that I can write a new server-app.xml file and it will concatenate my settings to server.xml? Or, better still to add this JNDI resource to all the servlets without using server.xml at all? p.s. Restarting the server will not be an issue, so I don’t mind if the changes don’t get picked up automatically.   • "ResolveAssemblyReference" task fails and System.BadImageFormatException, but assembly isn't used an

    I am getting an error about the assembly "C:\Ora10g\bin\Zip.exe". The trouble is this solution does NOT use anything in Oracle at all. I could not find a single reference to 10g anywhere in the project. I inherited this from another person who left our group. He never had this issue. Another member of my team said he got this before but reinstalling the client portion of 10g fixed it. No such luck there. I even tried using WinGrep to search the entire solution folder for "Ora10g" but it wasn't there. Any ideas? I can't build this solution until I can figure out how to get rid of this false reference to Oracle. VS 2005 solution. Contains a couple WinForm apps, a couple class libraries, and a web service. The error occurs in the main class library project. Here is the error message: Error 1 The "ResolveAssemblyReference" task failed unexpectedly.     Table: UserId, Value, Date. I want to get the UserId, Value for the max(Date) for each UserId. That is, the Value for each UserId that has the latest date. Is there a way to do this simply in SQL? (Preferably Oracle) Thank in advance! [Update:] Apologies for any ambiguity: I need to get ALL the UserIds. But for each UserId, only that row where that user has the latest date.

    This data comes from an Oracle database and is extracted to flatfiles in encoding 'WE8MSWIN1252'. I want to parse the data and do some analysis. I want to see the text fields but do not need to publish the results to any other system so if some characters do not get converted perfectly I do not have a problem with that.     Using Oracle 11g release 2, the following query gives an ORA-01790: expression must have same datatype as corresponding expression: with intervals(time_interval) AS (select trunc(systimestamp) from dual union all select (time_interval + numtodsinterval(10, 'Minute')) from intervals where time_interval < systimestamp) select time_interval from intervals; The error suggests that the datatype of both subqueries of the UNION ALL are returning different datatypes. Even if I cast to TIMESTAMP in each of the subqueries, then I get the same error. What am I missing?

    I am looking for the most performant way to turn rows into columns. I have a requirement to output the contents of the db (not actual schema below, but concept is similar) in both fixed width and delimited formats. The below FOR XML PATH query gives me the result I want, but when dealing with anything other than small amounts of data, can take awhile. select orderid ,REPLACE(( SELECT ' ' + CAST(ProductId as varchar) FROM _details d WHERE d.OrderId = o.OrderId ORDER BY d.OrderId,d.DetailId FOR XML PATH('') ),'&#x20;','') as Products from _orders o I've looked at pivot but most of the examples I have found are aggregating information. I just want to combine the child rows and tack them onto the parent. I should also point out I don't need to deal with the column names either since the output of the child rows will either be a fixed width string or a delimited string. For example, given the following tables: OrderId CustomerId ----------- ----------- 1 1 2 2 3 3 DetailId OrderId ProductId ----------- ----------- ----------- 1 1 100 2 1 158 3 1 234 4 2 125 5 3 101 6 3 105 7 3 212 8 3 250 for an order I need to output: orderid Products ----------- ----------------------- 1 100 158 234 2 125 3 101 105 212 250 or orderid Products ----------- ----------------------- 1 100|158|234 2 125 3 101|105|212|250 Thoughts or suggestions? But I am getting the error that I cannot use a group function inside the inner query: ORA-00934: group function is not allowed here Can you offer an alternative other than resorting to another outer query?

Or, to be more precise, the lists of mandatory aggregates for SQL 1992, 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2011 - with 2011 being the most important to me. Edit: Of course if I buy a copy of the standards I could compile these lists myself. My question is whether they're accessible somewhere online.
