    - by sc_ray
I need to work on C++ project on my windows machine. My project will consist of various classes(.h and .cpp) as well as the startup file to start the application. The preliminary design is simple but the application has the potential to gain complexity as time goes by. What I need here is ideas to set up the C++ project compiler/IDE/Makefile etc..etc. as well as some standard tools besides Visual C++ to compile/build/link projects such as these on a Windows OS. Thanks

  • Are there any good version control programs for a Windows box that do not have to be installed?

    - by CaffeineZombie
On my work machine, I do not have the permissions to install anything, and astoundingly, there are not any version control software packages set up. I am using VS2008, and was hoping to work around depending on SourceSafe. I've talked to the network admin, and all I could get was "We don't have any version control set up." Are there any good ways of going about this, or do I have to just bite the bullet?

  • Querying content of Windows Media Center library

    - by Tuvix
I'm trying to create a program in C# that lists the content of a library in Windows Media Center (for instance the video library). Is this possible using the Windows Media Center SDK, without having to create it as an addin for WMC, but as an "external" program, running on the same machine as WMC?

  • Haskell mutability in compiled state?

    - by pile of junk
I do not know much about Haskell, but from what I have read about the mutability of computations (e.g: functions returning functions, complex monads and functions, etc.) it seems like you can do a lot of meta-programming, even at runtime. How can Haskell, if everything like functions and monads are so complex, compile to machine code and retain all this?

  • Unable to open Visual Studio 2005 solution attached to VSS?

    - by Amitabh
I am unable to open a Visual Studio 2005 solution under vss. The solution contains an Asp.net web site and around 10 more projects. I have already taken the latest source code from vss client. I have also made everything writeable. All I want to do is to see if the latest from Vss compiles in my machine. Is there anything I am missing here?

  • Trying to connect to a remote server using Eclipse

    - by Trout
I have an Ubuntu server running Tomcat, and I want to connect my Eclipse EE to it so I can work with JSP. I have no problem connecting to a similar Tomcat service when it's installed on my machine (not a server), but whenever I try to connect to the remote server I don't seem to have the option of choosing a Tomcat service. Is there some guide you can recommend (I didn't find one), or is there something I did wrong?

  • [C#] Specifying startup window/form location on multiple displays

    - by JeffE
I have two displays (two monitors) connected to my machine, and I noticed a strange thing happening today. I had an Explorer window open with my compiled exe on my primary display, and when I double-clicked it, it opened in the primary display (left monitor). However if I pressed enter to launch the executable, it started in the secondary display (right monitor). The window state of the initial form is maximized. Is there a way to tell C# to open the initial form in the primary display?
