• actionscript flex, how to send browser width to the swf itself

  I'm working with flex, but actionscript ideas are just as good. The flex <s:Application> tag has height="100%" width="100%" so the swf fits the browser as the browser gets resized. My problem is that I have a <s:Label> that I need to position based on the real/current size of the browser. <s:Application height="100%" width="100%"> ..... <s:Label text="hello" x="?" y=">" /> </s:Application> I heard it's possible to use Application.application.width; but I get a compile error, that it doesn't know what that is. Any ideas how to do this. I'm trying to get the current size of the swf in the browser, as the browser resizes.

  Hi, I am writing a Core Data-based iPhone app and I am new to Objective-C. I have a bug that I am really struggling to nail. • Android - Convert Color Resource to Color in Domain Object

  I have a domain object, where I created a method to return a text color based on the internal state of the domain object. I have defined the colors in a color.xml file as resources. The problem I have now, is that I would like to return a Color object instead of a resource ID from the domain object method. This way I can set the text color of a TextView by just calling textView.setTextColor(domainObj.getTextColor()) since it expects a Color object and not a resource ID. Currently, in an Activity, I can call getResources().getColor(domainObj.getTextColorResource()) to convert a resource ID to a color, but I would like this done in the domain object and I am not sure how I would do this when I do not have access to the getResources method. Are there any cleaner options than passing in a Resource object into the method, or domain object? Thanks

  I would like to talk to a interactive bash process. Here is an example, so you know what I want to archieve: Program starts a new bash process. User types "ls" into my program. Program sends this command to the bash process. Program reads all available output of the bash (including the prompt) and displays it back to the user. GOTO 1 As you can guess, there is much room for nifty manipulations here and there... ;-) It would be wonderful if this also worked for subprocesses (started by the bash process) and curses-based programs. I would like to implement this functionality in Ruby, and already have experimented with IO.popen, but strange things happen. You are also welcome to do this in other languages.

  How can I check if two System.Drawing.Color structures represent the same color in 16 bit color depth (or generally based on the value of Screen.PrimaryScreen.BitsPerPixel)? Let's say I set Form.TransparencyKey to Value1 (of Color type), I want to check that when the user selects a new background color for the form (Value2), I don't set the entire form transparent. On 32bit color depth screens I simply compare the two values: if (Value1 == Value2) However, this does not work on 16bit color depth screens, as more Color values for the Value2 would represent the same actual 16bit color as Value1, as I found out the hard way.

  I have following two tables:- Table1 ------------- ID Name 1 A 2 B 3 C Table2 -------- ID Name 1 Z I need to insert data from Table1 to Table2 and I can use following sytax for the same:- INSERT INTO Table2(Id, Name) SELECT Id, Name FROM Table1 However, In my case duplicate Ids might exist in Table2 (In my case Its Just "1") and I dont want to copy that again as that would throw an error. I can write something like this:- IF NOT EXISTS(SELECT 1 FROM Table2 WHERE Id=1) INSERT INTO Table2 (Id, name) SELECT Id, name FROM Table1 ELSE INSERT INTO Table2 (Id, name) SELECT Id, name FROM Table1 WHERE Table1.Id<>1 Is there a better way to do this without using IF - ELSE? I want to avoid two INSERT INTO-SELECT statements based on some condition. Any help is appreciated.

  I read some of the answers on here re: testing views and controllers, and mocking, but I still can't figure out how to test an ASP.NET MVC controller that reads and sets Session values (or any other context based variables.) How do I provide a (Session) context for my test methods? Is mocking the answer? Anybody have examples? Basically, I'd like to fake a session before I call the controller method and have the controller use that session. Any ideas?

  i am trying to customize the suggestions on the AutoCompleteBox in the WPF Tool kit. Right now i have a last name field which when the user enters characters a query runs that retrieves the top 10 records based on that last name. i would also like to filter by first name, i tried splitting out the comma and searching by the last name and the characters entered in the first name. however, as soon as a space or comma is entered into the autocompletebox, the suggest functionality stops working, which I believe is because the ValueMemberPath property is set to be last name. Is there a work around for this, or a way to modify the ValueMemberPath to handle multiple values? Thanks!

  Is there a good resource which describes the "why" behind PMD rule sets? PMD's site has the "what" - what each rule does - but it doesn't describe why PMD has that rule and why ignoring that rule can get you in trouble in the real world. In particular, I'm interested in knowing why PMD has the AvoidInstantiatingObjectsInLoops and OnlyOneReturn rules (the first seems necessary if you need to create a new object corresponding to each object in a collection, the second seems like it is a necessity in many cases that return a value based on some criteria). Just to be clear, I know that I can disable these and how to do that, I'm just wondering why they are there in the first place. Sorry if there's something obvious I missed out there, but I did a Google search and SO search before posting this.

  I'm using Quartz to schedule some jobs but I have a few scenarios that I'm not sure how to resolve. 1) Lets say I have a job that is scheduled to run every 5 minutes. Generally that works well but periodically the job takes more than 5 minutes and I don't really want multiple instances of the job running simultaneously. 2) I have a job that can take between 1 and 60 minutes to complete. I want it to run continuously but pause for 10 minutes between runs, regardless of how long it took previously. I like using Quartz for this rather than some sort of loop because if a job crashes Quartz will still spin up a new one based on the schedule. I am using Quartz in Java right now.

  I have a fairly large CSS file developed by my web designer. There are, of course, plenty of IDs, classes and tag properties assigned therein. Are there any tools to automatically generate HTML based on a CSS source file? For example: #basicInfoHead{ background:url(../images/leftHeaders.jpg) no-repeat; margin-left: 0px; width:185px; height:28px; } #basicInfoHead span{ float: left; } Would generate <div id=basicInfoHead><span>#basicInfoHead span</span></div> Etc etc. From there, I could preview the generated code in my browser, and see what each of the individual (primarily text) styles would look like.   Hi, We have some code wich sorts a list of addresses based on the distance between their coordinates. this is done through collections.sort with a custom comparator. However from time to time an adress without coordinates is in the list causing a NullPointerException. My initial idea to fix this was to have the comparator return 0 as dististance for addresses where at least one of the coordinates is null. I fear this might lead to corruption of the order the 'valid' elements in the list. so is returning a '0' values for null data in a comparator ok, or is there a cleaner way to resolve this.

  I came across this RDMS via the advert on stackoverflow. Seems to be in the vein of MS Access / Filemaker / Apex database development tools but focused on web based applications. It quotes rave reviews from EWeek and a favourable mention from Dr Dobbs regarding its ability to create AJAX web applications without coding. The Eweek review, apparently written by an ASP.NET programmer, goes on to proclaim the ease at which apps can be extended using the inbuilt XBasic language and how custom javascript can easily be added without wading through code. Has anyone here built a web app with Alpha 5? Does anyone have comments on the development process, the speed of it or limitations they encountered along the way? To me it seems Oracle APEX comes closest to the feature set, has anyone programmed in both and have any comments?

I want to be able to do the following: create a local branch based on some other (remote or local) branch (via git branch or git checkout -b) push the local branch to remote repo (publish), but make it trackable so git pull and git push will work immediately. How do I do that? EDIT: I know about --set-upstream in git 1.7, but that is a post-creation action. i want to find a way to make a similar change when pushing the branch to the remote repo.

When users move the mouse cursor on each field (Title, description, department etc.) the related tip will be automatically became visible as a simple pop-up (tool tip) and summarize what they should write there. and when the mouse cursor is not on one of these fields there is no tool tip. How can I design such a system via share point designer? I am not able use any add ons. I can't upload any additional things to the server. I have to make page based design.   I'm running an MySQL query that returns results based on location. However I have noticed recently that its really slowing down my PHP app. I used CodeIgniter and the profiler shows the query taking 4.2seconds. The geoname table has 500,000 rows. I have some indexes on the key columns, how else can speed up this query?   This tutorial on mobileorchard.com uses 2 classes (or 2 sets of .h and .m) to implement core location. Can I just use everything there in my existing class? How would I do that? • How to finish a broken data upload to the production Google App Engine server?

  I was uploading the data to App Engine (not dev server) through loader class and remote api, and I hit the quota in the middle of a CSV file. Based on logs and progress sqllite db, how can I select remaining portion of data to be uploaded? Going through tens of records to determine which was and which was not transfered, is not appealing task, so I look for some way to limit the number of record I need to check. • 32 and 64 bit assemblies in one windows installer

  Hello, I have an application written in C# which depends on sqlite managed provider. The sqlite provider is platform dependent (there are two dlls for 32 and 64 bit applications with the same name). The application loads the desired one at runtime based on OS. The problem is that while creating an installer I cannot add 64 bit mode dll to the setup project as I am getting the following error: File '' targeting '' is not compatible with the project's target platform ''. I would use other installer but I have a custom action which must be invoked during the setup. So I wanted to know if there is an installer which will let me add 32 and 64 bit dll to it and execute custom action written in C#. One possible solution is to have two installers but I would like to avoid it if possible. Any suggestions?
