How to use tscon on Windows7?

I need to run overnight automation testing using RFT and IE on Windows7 virtual machine. I found that restarting the Windows box before the testing starts helps. I am moving the production environment from Windows XP to Windows 7. RFT used to complain when running RFT scripts that CRFCN0557E: Activation failed when running under a Terminal Services environment. This may be caused by using a minimized terminal window - try playing back without minimizing the terminal window (it does not need to be full-screen). Running tscon.exe 0 /dest:console prior starting any RFT script fix the error on Windows XP. But not on Windows7. I did some research and was trying for hours to fix that but nothing helped. There is no screen saver turned on on Windows7. I tried to run both but nothing helped. tscon.exe 0 /dest:console tscon.exe 1 /dest:console On Windows7 tscon returns {ErrorPrintf(): LoadString failed, Error 15105, (0x00003B01)} Error [15105]:The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry. Error [0]:The operation completed successfully. On Windows XP tscon returns Could not connect sessionID 0 to sessionname console, Error code 7045 Error [7045]:The requested session access is denied. I just double checked that running tscon.exe 0 /dest:console on Windows XP solves the issue. Cannot understand the output of the tscon command then. Any idea how I can run RFT scripts after I restart the Windows box automatically? Preferably without involving any other computer. I was even thinking to use the old Windows XP to make remote desktop session to make RFT happy. I hope there is other better solution to that.

Microsoft Management Console stops working when I add snap-in to it

I'm opening mmc.exe as administrator and trying add Certificates or any other snap-in, then while loading that snap-in MMC breaks and displays following message and after that it closes automatically once I click on close button on that message. What could be the problem? Postgres - could not create any TCP/IP sockets

I'm running a rails app in development with postgresql 9.3. When I tried to start passenger server today, I got: PG::ConnectionBad - could not connect to server: Connection refused Is the server running on host "localhost" (217.74.65.145) and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432? No big deal I thought, that happened before. Restarting postgres always solved the problem. So I ran sudo service postgresql restart and got: * Restarting PostgreSQL 9.3 database server * The PostgreSQL server failed to start. Please check the log output: 2014-06-11 10:32:41 CEST LOG: could not bind IPv4 socket: Cannot assign requested address 2014-06-11 10:32:41 CEST HINT: Is another postmaster already running on port 5432? If not, wait a few seconds and retry. 2014-06-11 10:32:41 CEST WARNING: could not create listen socket for "localhost" 2014-06-11 10:32:41 CEST FATAL: could not create any TCP/IP sockets ...fail! My postgresql.conf points to the defaults: localhost and port 5432. I tried changing the port but the error message is the same (except the port change). Both ps aux | grep postgresql and ps aux | grep postmaster return nothing. EDIT: In postgresql.conf I changed listen_addresses to 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost and it did the trick, server restarted. I also had to edit my applications' db config and point to 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost. However, the question is now, why is localhost considered to be 217.74.65.145 and not 127.0.0.1? That's my /etc/hosts: 127.0.0.1 local 127.0.1.1 jacek-X501A1 127.0.0.1 something.name.non.example.com 127.0.0.1 company.something.name.non.example.com

Watchguard SSLVPN user connection issue

I have a user that needs access to our SSLVPN on our Watchguard firewall from his company issued laptop. The problem is when he tries to connect as himself he cannot connect. If I login to the machine it works fine, if I add him to the domain admins group in Active Directory it works fine… So, we know it is an access issue but I cannot figure out what access he needs. He is in the SSLVPN-Users group which I thought would give them all the access they needed but apparently not… Here is the output of the SSLVPN Logs when trying to connect: 2012-09-14T15:40:55.834 Launching WatchGuard Mobile VPN with SSL client. Strange permission errors in new PostgreSQL installation

A freshly installed PostgreSQL (with configuration overwritten) won't start: $ sudo service postgresql start * Starting PostgreSQL 9.1 database server * Error: could not read /etc/postgresql/9.1/main/postgresql.conf: Permission denied Looks like it should be able to read it though: $ ls -l postgresql.conf -rw------- 1 postgres postgres 19450 2012-06-14 10:07 postgresql.conf But fine, I'll add chmod +r it to test if that works. $ sudo chmod +r postgresql.conf $ sudo service postgresql start * Starting PostgreSQL 9.1 database server * The PostgreSQL server failed to start. Bitnami redmine error SVN

I'm installing the Bitnami Redmine stack (redmine + subversion). Firstly I install configure and test it locally (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS). And everything is OK. I am trying to install an SSL certificate, and I get the following errors: AH02241: Init: Unable to read server certificate from file /path/my.crt SSL Library Error: error:0D0680A8:asn1 encoding routines:ASN1_CHECK_TLEN:wrong tag SSL Library Error: error:0D07803A:asn1 encoding routines:ASN1_ITEM_EX_D2I:nested asn1 error (Type=X509) AH02312: Fatal error initialising mod_ssl, exiting. Here's the process I followed: I generated my private key with: openssl genrsa -out my.key 2048 I created the CSR with: openssl req -new -key my.key -out my.csr I provided the CSR to our IT department, and they returned a crt - it starts with -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- My ssl.conf has (my.example.com matches the Common name used during the generation of the CSR): <VirtualHost my.example.com:443> SSLEngine On ServerName my.example.com SSLCertificateFile /path/my.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /path/my.key </VirtualHost> I do not have SSLCertificateChainFile or SSLCACertificate file set. The private key starts with ----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY----- The csr starts with -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE REQUEST----- I have verified that both: openssl rsa -noout -modulus -in my.key openssl req -noout -modulus -in my.csr produce the same output. I cannot figure out how to verify the crt - trying both x509 and rsa produce an error. Should this process have worked? Can I verify that my.crt matches the key somehow?

I have the following scenario: 3 windows server 2012 virtual servers, all with IIS 8: 1 server with Application Request Routing 3 2 servers with the web applications that the ARR server routes to I am getting intermittent 502 3 12002 errors. Following this guide http://www.iis.net/learn/extensions/troubleshooting-application-request-routing/troubleshooting-502-errors-in-arr I have identified that I need to trace using netsh the WinHttp/WebIO providers to get to the real error code that is mapped to the 12002 error code. I run the trace as the article suggests: netsh trace start scenario=internetclient capture=yes persistent=no level=verbose tracefile=c:\temp\net.etl When analysing the output of the netsh traces, I don't get the level of information that the article suggests I should. Specifically I only get the following types of entry in the trace viewed using netmon: WINHTTP_MicrosoftWindowsWinHttp:Stopping WorkItem Thread Action... WINHTTP_MicrosoftWindowsWinHttp:Starting WorkItem Thread Action... WINHTTP_MicrosoftWindowsWinHttp:Queue Overlapped IO Thread Action... I certainly don't get anything detailed enough that would help me understand why am getting any timeouts. Is there any reason why Server 2012 wouldn't trace the WinHttp API to the level I need? Problem with Email Notifications in VisualSVN Server

Hey guys! I have a dedicated server running windows 2003 server and Visual SVN Server 2.0.8. I'm trying to configure it to send email notifications on commit. So I found this article on Visual SVN site. It says I have to edit the Post-commit hook and set it to the following: "%VISUALSVN_SERVER%\bin\VisualSVNServerHooks.exe" ^ commit-notification "%1" -r %2 ^ --from <from-email> --to <to-email> ^ --smtp-server <smtp-server> Of course I've replaced the variables there. The problem is when someone commits something, the svn client throws the following error: post-commit hook failed (exit code 1) with no output. The commit process runs with no problems, I mean it does commit the files. But it won't send any email notification. If I remove the post-commit hook, then I don't get the error (and of course I don't get any notification). Could you help me out with it? The error doesn't tell too much =S Thank you!

Adaptec 6405 RAID controller turned on red LED

I have a server with an Adaptec 6405 RAID controller and 4 disks in a RAID 5 configuration. Staff in the data center called me because they noticed a red LED was turned on in one of the drive bays. I have then checked the status using 'arcconf getconfig 1' and I got the status message 'Logical devices/Failed/Degraded: 2/0/1'. The status of the logical devices was listed as 'Rebuilding'. However, I did not get any suspicious status of the affected physical device, the S.M.A.R.T. setting was 'no', the S.M.A.R.T. warnings were '0' and also 'arcconf getsmartstatus 1' returned no problems with any of the disk drives. The 'arcconf getlogs 1 events tabular' command gives lots of output (sorry, can't paste the log file here as I only have remote console access, I could post a screenshot though). I was not able to check the LED status, my guess is that the red LED is off again. Now I have a lot of questions: what is a possible cause for the medium error, why it is not reported by the SMART log too? Should I replace the disk drives? They were purchased just a month ago. The rebuilding process took one or two days, is that normal? The disks are 2 TByte each and the storage system is mostly idling. the timestamp of the logs seem to show the moment of the log retrieval, not the moment of the incident. Please advise, all help is very appreciated.

But I don't know why it keeps reporting the http error 416. I searched in google and found the following description of the error but it doesn't seem to help much. HTTP ERROR 416 - Requested Range Not Satisfiable A 416 status code indicates that the server was unable to fulfill the request. This may be, for example, because the client asked for the 800th-900th bytes of a document, but the document was only 200 bytes long. It suggests me to use the --skip-broken option, I tried and the output is the same. I already tested many times, it just doesn't work when the --security option is used. What could be the possible cause for this problem?

iptables issue on plesk

i don't know how to open a specific port (rtmp=1935) on my CentOS server using Plesk or itables. I created new rules for port 1935 i/o using Plesk/Modules/Firewall but this doesn't work. Nmap scanning tells me this : 1935/tcp filtered rtmp . Cacti rrdtool graph with no values, NaN in .rrd file

Cacti 0.8.7h, with latest RRDTool. I successfully graphed CPU/Interface traffic, but got blank graphs like when it comes to Memory/Temperature monitoring. The problem/bug is actually archived here, however this post didn't help. I can snmpget the value, e.g SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.3.1.3.1 = Gauge32: 26. However, the problem seems to exist in storing these values to the .rrd file. Why does my PowerShell script hang when called in PSEXEC via a batch (.cmd) file?

I'm trying to remotely execute a PowerShell script using PSEXEC. The PowerShell script is called via a .cmd batch file. The reason we do this is to change the execution policy, run the powershell script then reset the execution policy again: On the remote server do-tasks.cmd looks like: powershell -command "&{ set-executionpolicy unrestricted}" powershell DoTasks.ps1 powershell -command "&{ set-executionpolicy restricted}" The PowerShell script DoTasks.ps1 just does this for now: Write-Output "Hello World!" Both of these scripts live in c:\windows\system32 (for now) just so they're on the PATH. On the originating server I do this: psexec \\web1928 -u administrator -p "adminpassword" do-tasks.cmd When this runs I get the following response at the command line: c:\Windows\system32>powershell -command "&{ set-executionpolicy unrestricted}" and the script runs no further. I can't ctrl-c to break the script and I just see ^C characters, I can type input from the keyboard and the characters are echoed to console. On the remote server I see that PowerShell.exe and CMD.exe are running in Task Manager's Process tab. If I end these processes then control returns to the command line on the originating server. I have tried this with just a simple .cmd batch file with a @echo hello world and it works just fine. Running do-tasks.cmd on the remote server via an RDP session works ok as well. Why is my remote batch file getting stuck when executing via PSEXEC?

Installing gitosis and closed port?

I'm trying to install gitosis on a Server (hosted by OVH and running Ubuntu server 11.04). I've done it a few times and never had any problems. But this time I have something very wired when I simply try to clone gitosis. But I don't understand, a server by definition shouldn't have any closed port and I can't find a way to see if they are. So how can I check is a port is open and how can I open it if closed? Why does my Intel HDA onboard sound card not have a "Mix" device / channel?

I want to be able to record what my sound card outputs on the speakers / headphones. This question is all over the interwebs again and again, and there seem to be two outcomes: in your selection of audio input devices, there's a device called "Stereo Mix", or similar, which is the "loopback" device for audio. Choose that in your recording tool and you're done. there's no such device and only speculative posts about why that may be. Now, I'm using ALSA and an Intel HDA chipset on my mainboard under Kubuntu Karmic. I have some 5-10 output channels and "Mic", "Front Mic" and "Line" for input. All of those are available in KMix, Audacity and other software. No "loopback" / "Mix" / whatever. Do I have to get some driver / kernel module set up ALSA in some way set up my system configuration in some way use a software solution (such as JACK) I had a look at JACK, and found it rather hard to understand, it's either an expert tool or just clumsy, I couldn't say. At least, I wasn't able to figure out how to achieve what I wanted. One of my problems seems to be that I don't understand where and how the mixing happens. Are there sound cards which just aren't able to do it? Why does the sound card matter at all, since I could in theory grab the data stream at some point before it goes to the hardware, right?

Windows 2008 Terminal Services "Easy Print" and Matrix Printers

Server: Windows 2008 Server Standard SP2 with "Terminal Services" role Clients: Windows XP SP3 + .NET 3.5 Framework SP1 + Remote Desktop Client 7.0 We are using "Easy Print" feature which allows programs running on server to "see" printers installed on client machines. Everything works fine, EXCEPT when we send a text-only output to a dot-matrix printer. In this case, the printer only outputs a blank page. At first, we had problems with the error "Windows Presentation Foundation Terminal Server Print W has encountered a problem and needs to close." but this was fixed by replacing TsWpfWrp.exe with the one from Vista SP1 as suggested here. But now, we only get a blank page! Every other (graphical) document we sent to printer works 100%. We also tried to use the "Generic text-only" driver, but the result is same. Now we are trying to change parameters like print processor on "advanced" tab from printer driver to see if something happen. But this is just guessing and we really don't know what to try anymore. The problem appears to be on Easy Print driver, but we found almost no resources about it. Any tips are welcome.
