• iPad Simulator WebView/Google Maps API Issue

  I've only recently updated XCode to 3.2.2 and started to play with the iPad simulator. I am having an issue with a WebView. I am using it to load a url with a Google Maps API implementation. The map loads and displays properly but when I try and click and drag on it to pan the map around instead of the map being panned the whole webview is scrolled vertically, revealing the dark grey background. When I release it it bounces back into place. Also when I hold the option key down to pinch the map it does not respond. If I load the map.google.com page the map pans just fine and is responsive, but not my one. No special code here, just the usual NSUrlRequest. It works fine in the iPhone simulator, but not the iPad simulator. User Interaction Enabled is also checked. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

• Unexpected result in .NET 4 DirectoryInfo.EnumerateFiles(string)

  It seems that the following code is not working as expected. I would assume that the following call to EnumarateFiles would only return files that match the filename pattern of c* ... however, filenames with H* are still getting returned. For example... the following file will get deleted in the following code (HNNN09060900932.xml). What's the issue?   I'm creating an application in Objective-C and I need to get the metadata from a SHOUTcast stream. I come from a StarTeam background and we used view labels and release labels to manage multiple overlapping projects. View labels geared more towards compiled code and SQL and the revision labels were used for VB/ASP projects.   Hi, I am about to re-release my website that i have transformed into a SilverLight Site, and was wondering if it is worth while updating the web service that it hosts into a WCF Service. The Service doesn't do too much at the moment, but i will be growing it fairly substantially. I have read a few articles on the differences between asmx web services and WCF Services and can't really see the benefits of WCF, but i am probably very wrong. • ASP.NET MVC Get a list of users with particular profile properties

  Hi, I'm using ASP.NET MVC 1 and I have added a custom Profile class using the WebProfile Builder VS add-in (found here: http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/WebProfileBuilder/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=980). On one of my forms I want a drop-down list of all users who share a specific profile value in common. I can see that I can get a list of all users using: Membership.GetAllUsers() However I cannot see how to get all users who have a specific profile value, which in my case is CellId. Am I approaching this in the right way? I have used membership roles to define which users are administrators etc, but profiles seems like the right place to group users. Any pointers both in specifics of how to access the user list but also comments on whether am I pursuing the right avenue here would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Sam

• Empty "Groups" in People Picker Navigation Controller

  I'm using the standard People Picker Navigation Controller to let users associate one of their contacts with one of my objects. It presents itself as a long list of ALL contacts. The back button (top left) says "Groups" but when clicked on it shows an empty screen...even when there are many Groups in the user's address book. I've read through the docs and can't seem to find how to populate the Groups area. Here's how I present the people picker.   I have been looking for a fully functional WSDL client generator for ruby. I tried the one called wsdl2ruby and it didn't work. I think it has problems with detecting complex types correctly. Can someone point me to the right library if there is one? I am specifically looking to generate a full functional client for SOAP API provided by jira.   How can I replace a string/word in a Word Document via ASP.NET? I just need to replace a couple words in the document, so I would like to stay AWAY from 3rd party plugins & interop. I would like to do this by opening the file and replacing the text. The following attempts were made: I created a StreamReader and Writer to read the file but I think that I am reading and writing in the wrong format. I think that Word Documents are stored in binary?? If word documents are binary, how would I read and write the file in binary? • 301 htaccess redirect: add segment to old URL's

  I'm trying to make sure old url's aren't broken after the site's URL structure has changed from this: http://www.domain.com/section/entry_name to this: http://www.domain.com/section/event_name/entry_name But to make it a bit more complex, I'm using the segments to sort entries, for example: http://www.domain.com/news/amazing_event/date/asc http://www.domain.com/videos/my_event/title/desc The new structure only effects one particular event (amazing_event) and should leave the other URL's alone. Where do I even begin to tackle this? • Modal MessageBox for ASP.NET without jQuery

  I have an assembly with custom ASP.NET server controls that is used in several, mostly in-house, ASP.NET 2.0 applications. The server controls use simple modal popup messageboxes, which are currently implemented using the javascript alert and confirm functions. I want to release a new version of this assembly that uses a better solution for messageboxes, including support for Yes/No buttons. The appearance would be something like a simplified version of the Ajax Control Toolkit ModalPopup extender (sample here). My constraints are that this should be as easy as possible to integrate into existing ASP.NET 2.0 applications without introducing new dependencies: ideally just drop in a new version of the assembly, that contains all the javascript it needs as an embedded resource, and possibly a CSS file. Because of this constraint, I am not considering solutions I've seen that use jquery, or the ASP.NET Ajax Control Toolkit, which appears to require adding elements to pages that use the extenders (ScriptManagers and the like). Any recommendations?

  I'd like to know the x/y offset of the how far the user has "scrolled" within the viewport in mobile safari on the iphone. Put another way, if I (through javascript) reloaded the current page, I'd like to find the values I'd need to pass into window.scrollTo(...) in order to reposition the document/viewport as it is currently. window.pageXOffset always reports 0 jquery's $('body').scrollTop() always reports 0 events have a pageX, but this won't account for the scrolling of the page that happens after you release your finger if your gesture was to "flick" the page up/down. Namely, it'll give me a point when the finger leaves the screen, but that doesn't always match where the page will be after it's finished scrolling. Any pointers?

• m2eclipse workspace resolution

  Hi all, I am using m2eclipse for managing maven projects in eclipse. It seems that in the previous release that I was using (0.9.8) the workspace resolution did not work at all, but right now it also does not work quite as I would expect. Namely, when the "resolve dependencied from workspace" setting for a project is not checked, the project turns red and cannot be build. The message says: artifact xxx x.y-SNAPSHOT cannot be found int local repository (or something to that extent). The trouble is that m2eclipse is putting information about workspace project into my local repo. Is there a way to change this behaviour? P.S. The workaround for this is to close the xxx project, then m2eclipse resolved the dependency to whatever version I've had previously in the local repository (i.e. the non-snapshot version).

  I'm running into a problem with the MPMoviePlayerContentPreloadDidFinishNotification notification. I've regisered to recieve the MPMoviePlayerContentPreloadDidFinishNotification notification and MPMoviePlayerPlaybackDidFinishNotification but the first one never fires. Is this bug in Firmware OS 3.0 ? maybe fixed in 3.1 ? or ? Because my divice and similator is 3.0 maybe this is a bug ? My code : ...
