• Binding to 'To' In Storyboard

  I'll try to make this as simple as I can. I want to do this: <Storyboard x:Name="MoveToLocation"> <DoubleAnimation Duration="0:0:0.5" To="{Binding X}" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(UIElement.RenderTransform).(CompositeTransform.TranslateX)" Storyboard.TargetName="grid" d:IsOptimized="True"/> </Storyboard> As you may have noticed the Binding on 'To' Property does not work. It seems to only accept static values. How does one do this animation with MVVM? I cant just put in static data, cause it's going to change. Thanks.

• Implementing password hashing/salting algorithm from crackstation.net

  I am trying to implement a password hashing/salting algorithm from crackstation.net, but I am unsure how implement it. Storing the password upon user registration seems to be as simple as passing the password into create_hash(). $password = create_hash($_POST['Password']; I'm not following how to validate upon user login. validate_password($password, $good_hash) returns either true or false, and takes $password as parameter, so it seems like a no brainer except for the second parameter $good_hash. Where does this param come from? It is my understanding that password is turned into a hash value every time its used, and that the hash value is what is stored and compared. So why would I have both the $password and $good_hash values? Quick overview of the functions: function create_hash($password){ calls pbkdf2() } function validate_password($password, $good_hash){ calls pbkdf2() calls slow_equals() } function slow_equals($a, $b){ } function pbkdf2($algorithm, $password, $salt, $count, $key_length, $raw_output = false){ } Of course a different, better method for this would also be just as helpful. • PHP: session isnt saving before header redirect

  Hi guys, I have read through the php manual for this problem and it seems quite a common issue but i have yet to find a solution. I am saving sessions in a database. My code is as follows: // session $_SESSION['userID'] = $user->id; header('Location: /subdirectory/index.php'); Then at the top of index.php after the session_start(), i have var_dumped the $_SESSION global and the userID is not in there. As i said ive looked through the PHP manual (http://php.net/manual/en/function.session-write-close.php) and neither session_write_close or session_regenerate_id(true) worked for me. Does anybody know a solution? Edit: I have session_start() at the top of my file. When i var_dump the session global before the header redirect, i see the userID in there, but not in the other file, which is in a subdirectory of this script Thanks, Matt

  From Excel, I need to open an Access database and run one of the database's macros. I'm using Excel and Access 2007. Here is my code in Excel: Sub accessMacro() Dim appAccess As New Access.Application Set appAccess = Access.Application appAccess.OpenCurrentDatabase "C:\blah.mdb" appAccess.Visible = True appAccess.DoCmd.RunMacro "RunQueries.RunQueries" appAccess.CloseCurrentDatabase End Sub In the Access Database, there is a procedure named RunQueries in a module named RunQueries. Each time I run this, I get the following error: Runtime error '2485': Microsoft Access Office can't find the object 'RunQueries.' I have also tried: appAccess.DoCmd.RunMacro "RunQueries" and I get the same errors message. Any idea how to do this? By the way, I could go into a long explanation about why I need to do this, but let me just say that I've already argued against it, and I have to do it this way (meaning, I have to use Excel as a frontend to open several Access dbs and run their macros).

• How to organize code using an optional assembly reference?

  I am working on a project and want to optionally use an assembly if available. This assembly is only available on WS 2008 R2, and my ideal product whould be a common binary for both computers with and without the assembly. However, I'm primarily developing on a Windows 7 machine, where I cannot install the assembly. How can I organize my code so that I can (with minimum changes) build my code on a machine without the assembly and secondly, how do I ensure that I call the assembly functions only when it is present. (NOTE : The only use of the optional assembly is to instantiate a class in the library and repeatedly call a (single) function of the class, which returns a boolean. The assembly is fsrmlib, which exposes advanced file system management operations on WS08R2.) I'm currently thinking of writing a wrapper class, which will always return true if the assembly is not present. Is this the right way to go about doing this?

  I have a function which spawns various types of threads, one of the thread types needs to be spawned every x seconds. • AJAX response inside jqplot not working

  I'm trying to render data from an AJAX response as a bar chart with jqplot. To render this bar chart I use two variables: s1 which contains the numbers ex: s1 = [22,67,32,89] ticks which contains the name corresponding to a number inside s1 ex: ticks = ["Jack", "Mary", "Paul", "John"] So my AJAX returns two variables, data1 and data2. When I console.log(data1) I get 22,67,32,89 When I console.log(data2) I get "Jack", "Mary", "Paul", "John" I then add the square brackets and change variable: s1 = [data1] ticks = [data2] When I console.log(s1) I get ["22,67,32,89"] When I console.log(ticks) I get "Jack", "Mary", "Paul", "John" And the graph does not render, this is my code: s1 = [data]; ticks = [data]; plot4 = $.jqplot('chartdiv4', [s1], { animate: !$.jqplot.use_excanvas, series:[{color:'#5FAB78'}], seriesDefaults:{ renderer:$.jqplot.BarRenderer, pointLabels: { show: true } }, axes: { xaxis: { renderer: $.jqplot.CategoryAxisRenderer, ticks: ticks }, yaxis:{min:0, max:100, label:'%',labelRenderer: $.jqplot.CanvasAxisLabelRenderer} }, highlighter: { show: false } }); });

• In Django, why is user.is_authenticated a method and not a member variable like is_staff

  Hello all, I've lost some time with a bug in my app due to user authentication. I think that it's a bit confusing but maybe someone can explain the reason and it will appear to me very logical. The user.is_staff is a member variable while user.is_authenticated is a method. However is_authenticated only returns True or False depending if the class is User or AnonymousUser (see http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/topics/auth/) Is there a reason for that? • How do I manually log a user in with a MembershipProvider?

  I'm experimenting with writing my own custom MembershipProvider in asp.net and I want to roll my own login page. We do some fairly special stuff at login time so we can't use the default login control so I need a way to manually log a user in. So far I haven't found anything on how to write your own login control so I'm here, wondering how I can manually log a user in via a MembershipProvider. I've tried Membership.ValidateUser("user", "pass"); and while that does call ValidateUser() on my custom MembershipProvider, and it does return true, it doesn't actually log me in. Btw I'm fairly new to the whole MembershipProvider stuff so if I'm not even on the right wavelength, feel free to let me know.

• How do I pass custom variables to javascript events?

  I have a user control with a javascript function which references some controls within the user control. This user control works perfectly when there is only one instance of it, but I'm now building a page where I have two instances of the user control. In IE7, it works fine, but in FireFox, it is getting confused that there is two functions of the exact same name and signature. So on UserControl1, it'll be running the function in UserControl2 and modifying that content. I'm thinking my best solution would be to pass the clientID of the components I need TO the function instead of just directly referencing it in the function. How would I do that? The signature of the javascript function is like this function nodeClicking(sender, args) and I'm calling it in an event like this <telerik:RadTreeView runat="server" ID="OrgUnitTreeView" OnInit="TreeViewLoad" OnClientNodeClicking="**nodeClicking**" EnableViewState="true" DataTextField = "OrganisationUnitName" DataValueField = "OrganisationUnitCode" DataFieldParentID = "ParentOrganisationUnitCode" DataFieldID = "OrganisationUnitCode"> How do I add extra variables to the function signature.

• django handling file uploads - target different than media folder

  Hi, I want to enable the user to upload media which will not be saved in the media folder. When I use the following line of code data will be uploaded to media/upload/logo . logo_img = models.FileField(upload_to='upload/logo', blank=True) I'm wondering how I can change this behaviour. I would try to write a custom FileField and a view that serves the data based on the database entries. I do not want to place the data the user uploads to the media folder, since it is no public data. Is this approach correct? Are there solutions out there which do exactly what I want and I would reinvent the wheel with implementing this by myself? Would appreciate any help!

• New to C# and trying to use a global variable

  Is it possible to use global variables in C#? I'm coming from mainly a PHP background so variables are either accessible everywhere or just a global definition away. My main issue is I have a User class that I built myself to wrap around the current users table on my company's database. I am defining it in the MasterPage but can't seem to access it from the actual pages (I don't know if there's a better word to describe them but they are the pages that inherit the styles and format from the MasterPage) Any general tips or implementation practices for me?   Hi, the following code is to open a console application (which uses pdcurses for output, nothing special): myProcess.StartInfo.FileName = "some.exe"; myProcess.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false; myProcess.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = false; myProcess.StartInfo.RedirectStandardInput = true; myProcess.Start(); The Problem is that it opens the designated window but directly closes it (it's barely visible). Starting the program without RedirectStandardInput works. The problem is that it does not throw an exception nor any error-message. What is wrong with my code? How can I write input to the program?   In a WPF application i'm using Linq to SQL in a multi tier application. (This is an archailogy photo filing application), so every excavation has its corresponding Pictures, thus a one-to-many relationship. This relationship is correctly created by SQLMetal (which i'm using to create the POCOs). So here is the situation i 'm having trouble with: Saving changes (either of new or altered objects) is done through UnitOfWork() pattern this way: using (IUnitOfWork unitOfWork = UnitOfWork.Begin()) { //if this is a new record if (SelectedExcavation.excavation.ExcavationId == 0) { IsNewRecord = true; excavService.Add(SelectedExcavation.excavation); } //send the actual changes to the dbms unitOfWork.Commit(); } Everything works fine! BUTTTT!!! Whenever a record gets updated which has (already at least one ) corresponding Picture Record: 1) a new Excavation Record is inserted 2) the current Excavation Record gets updated 3) the previous Picture Record gets its Id changed to the newly created ExcavationId What is going on under the hood? Does Linq to SQL not handle such simple update scenarios? Thanks in advance

  I am creating an extension where I need to insert a link into the gmail window. I am able to create a simple extension button in the top of the window and execute code that does replaces all the links. Now, I want to do add links in the contenteditable section as I type. It seems like there should be a simple way to replace text with a link in the document object model. If this is not true I need to do three things. Insert text from the current caret position Capture the caret position. Set the caret position by its offset. I have tried using window.getSelection within the gmail context(that is a body element that is set to contenteditable and embedded inside an iframe in the gmail tab) to get the current range and position. The selection is always empty and contains no ranges regardless of whether text is selected or not.

• Load page, wait, log any JavaScript errors to file?

  I would like to check a large number of HTML files with inline JavaScript for JavaScript errors. What I'm envisioning doing is this: Script a browser to load a given page, wait a few seconds, and finally check the browser logs. I'm unsure though both on how to script a browser to load a given page and on how to access the JavaScript error log. I think the type of errors I'm worried about should show up in any modern browser so I would just go with whatever makes it most convenient. I'd be working either under Mac OS X or Linux. Anybody already tackle a similar problem? I've thought a bit about hacking something together based on a unit testing framework -- generate a trivial (assertTrue(true)) test for each page and rely on the errors making it fail -- but I'm hoping for something more elegant.
