  • Clojure best way to achieve multiple threads?

    Hello! I am working on a MUD client written in Clojure. Right now, I need two different threads. One which receives input from the user and sends it out to the MUD (via a simple Socket), and one that reads and displays output from the MUD, to the user. Should I just use Java Threads, or is there some Clojure-specific feature I should be turning to?

  • ImageMagick: convert png fail via PHP and works via bash shell

    I've got a very weird bug which I've yet to find a solution. UPDATE see solution below What I am trying to do is convert a full size picture into a 160x120 thumbnail. It works great with jpg and jpeg files of any size, but not with png. ImageMagick command: /opt/local/bin/convert '/WEBSERVER/images/img_0003-192-10.png' -thumbnail x320 -resize '320x<' -resize 50% -gravity center -crop 160x120+0+0 +repage -quality 91 '/WEBSERVER/thumbs/small_img_0003-192-10.png' PHP function (shortened) ... $cmd = "/opt/local/bin/convert '/WEBSERVER/images/img_0003-192-10.png' -thumbnail x320 -resize '320x<' -resize 50% -gravity center -crop 160x120+0+0 +repage -quality 91 '/WEBSERVER/thumbs/small_img_0003-192-10.png'"; exec($cmd, $output, $retval); $errors += $retval; if ($errors > 0) { die(print_r($output)); } When this function runs $retval equal 1 which means the convert command failed (thumbnail isn't created).   • For loop from assembly to C

    I have a bomb project where I need to defuse certain phases by finding "pas phrases" that will defuse the bomb. Right now I have been working with phase_2, for which the assembly code is shown below. Phase_2 requires as an input 6 numbers, which I need to find in order to defuse this phase. I analyzed this assembly, and I came up with the C code below, that covers lines from 40101c to 401044. It is basically a for loop that makes sure that elements t[0]==t[3], t[1]==t[4] and t[2]==t[5] that the user inputs, are equal. According to my logic, the user can input any 6 numbers as long as the above condition is satisfied. Say 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3 would be a valid "pas phrase". However this solution does not convince me for some reason.     Project Output Path of the the main application is set to ......\bin\Release\ and was published flawlessly by ClickOnce before. For some strange reason, ClickOnce now fails with the following error: "Could not find file 'obj\Release\EMS.OCC600.Infrastructure.Shell.exe'. c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\Microsoft.Common.targets 2341 9 Infrastructure.Shell" Anyone run into this before?     Hello: I am having some trouble with a very basic string issue in Python (that I can't figure out). Basically, I am trying to do the following: '# read file into a string myString = file.read() '# Attempt to remove non breaking spaces myString = myString.replace("\u00A0"," ") '# however, when I print my string to output to console, I get: Foo **<C2><A0>** Bar I thought that the "\u00A0" was the escape code for unicode non breaking spaces, but apparently I am not doing this properly. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

I would like to be able to display my output using the standard google map 'map' style (gray background, yellow streets, etc) in google earth, or in the google earth api. Is there a style guide or method that I should be using? Any thoughts appreciated - I wasn't sure how to structure this question. Thank you.

  • ASP.Net JSON Web Service Post Form Data

    I have a ASP.NET web service decorated with System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptService() so it can return json formatted data. This much is working for me, but ASP.Net has a requirement that parameters to the web service must be in json in order to get json out. I'm using jquery to run my ajax calls and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to create a nice javascript object from the form elements. I have looked at serialiseArray in the json2 library but it doesn't encode the field names as property name in the object. If you have 2 form elements like this <input type="text" name="namefirst" id="namefirst" value="John"/> <input type="text" name="namelast" id="namelast" value="Doe"/> calling $("form").serialize() will get you the standard query string namefirst=John&namelast=Doe calling JSON.stringify($("form").serializeArray()) will get you the (bulky) json representation [{"name":"namefirst","value":"John"},{"name":"namelast","value":"Doe"}] This will work when passing to the web service but its ugly as you have to have code like this to read it in: Public Class NameValuePair Public name As String Public value As String End Class <WebMethod()> _ Public Function GetQuote(ByVal nvp As NameValuePair()) As String End Function You would also have to wrap that json text inside another object nameed nvp to make the web service happy. Then its more work as all you have is an array of NameValuePair when you want an associative array. I might be kidding myself but i imagined something more elegant when i started this project - more like this Public Class Person Public namefirst As String Public namelast As String End Class which would require the json to look something like this: {"namefirst":"John","namelast":"Doe"} Is there an easy way to do this? Obviously it is simple for a form with two parameters but when you have a very large form concatenating strings gets ugly. Having nested objects would also complicate things The cludge I have settled on for the moment is to use the standard name value pair format stuffed inside a json object. This is compact and fast {"q":"namefirst=John&namelast=Doe"} then have a web method like this on the server that parses the query string into an associate array. <WebMethod()> _ Public Function AjaxForm(ByVal q As String) as string Dim params As NameValueCollection = HttpUtility.ParseQueryString(q) 'do stuff return "Hello" End Sub As far a cludges go this one seems reasonably elegant in terms of amount of code, but my question is: is there a better way? Is there a generally accepted way of passing form data to asp.net web/script services?
