  i have got the following fraction of code that getting me the stack overflow error #pragma omp parallel shared(Mo1, Mo2, sum_normalized_p_gn, Data, Mean_Out,Covar_Out,Prior_Out, det) private(i) num_threads( number_threads ) { //every thread has a new copy double* normalized_p_gn = (double*)malloc(NMIX*sizeof(double)); #pragma omp critical { int id = omp_get_thread_num(); int threads = omp_get_num_threads(); mexEvalString("drawnow"); } #pragma omp for //some parallel process..... } the variables declared in the shared are created by malloc. and they consumes with large amount of memory there are 2 questions regarding to the above code. 1) why this would generate the stack overflow error( i.e. segmentation fault) before it goes into the parallel for loop? it works fine when it runs in the sequential mode.... 2) am i right to dynamic allocate memory for each thread like "normalized_p_gn" above? • Can't use FAXCOMEXLib in VS 2010 anymore?

  I'm just in the process of moving from Visual Studio 2008 to Visual Studio 2010. One of my projects use the Microsoft Fax Service Extended COM Type Library. After converting the project to VS 2010 I get the following compiler error: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.Targets(1558,9): error MSB3648: The Keycontainer-path "VS_KEY_812A0248FF872DEC" ist invalid. KeyContainer must point to an existing file. C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.Targets(1558,9): warning MSB3283: Wrapperassembly for type library "FAXCOMEXLib" not found. I tried to remove FAXCOMEXLib from the project and adding it again, but it did not help. I got a similar problem with other COM references. How do I resolve this?

  I have a Dynamic Web Project in Eclipse. I can pack it to a WAR by right-clicking the project and choosing Export WAR File. This creates the WAR file as expected and it works. The problem is that Eclipse includes all the .svn folders of the project into the WAR file. Is there a way to tell Eclipse to ignore .svn folders in the WAR exporting process? Or even better, tell it to ignore all files or folders that match some given regular expression?

  I am currently in the process of creating a mobile version of my web app. The app is being developed with Facebook's PHP Client Library. The issue: I am using the following mobile url to allow users to log in using the mobile devices: http://m.facebook.com/tos.php?api_key=APIKEY&v=1.0&next=http%3A%2F%2Ftweelay.net%2Fm.php&cancel=http%3A%2F%2Ftweelay.net%2Fm.php APIKEY being my app's actual Facebook API key. In the url I am telling Facebook to redirect the user back to http://tweelay.net/m.php when the user signs in or clicks cancel on the log in screen. I am pulling my hair trying to figure out why it keeps sending the user to http://m.tweelay.net/m.php which is currently an invalid end point. I have gone through all of my app's settings on Facebook and I cant find any that reference http://m.tweelay.net and going through all of my source code I cant find any that reference the m. sub-domain either.

  Hello. I want to handle following scenarios in my new web application. If multiple users log into the application with same credentials, the application should deny access. Since I have out of process session store, I would be able to make out when this situation happens. So I can deny all requests after first successful attempt. This will however not work if the user instead of logging out of the application, closes the browser. The session will continue to reflect in the store for the period of timeout value. If a user attempts to open a new browser windows (Ctrl+N), the application should defeat this attempt. Every new page can potentially fiddle with cookies. I want to therefore deny the users the ability to open new window.

  I want to debug a service written in C# and the old fashioned way is just too long. I have to stop the service, start my application that uses the service in debug mode (Visual studio 2008), start the service, attach to the service process and then navigate in my Asp.Net application to trigger the service. I basically have the service running in the background, waiting for a task. The web application will trigger a task to be picked up by the service. What I would like to do is to have a console application that fires the service in an effort for me to debug. Is there any simple demo that anybody knows about? Thank you Jack

  I'm working on a project where we collect payments from users using credit/debit/PayPal payments. The service is taking payments from users on behalf of a 3rd party organisation. Once we take the payment, minus fees, we want to transfer the amount to the organisations bank account. For now, what we can do is pay the organisation using Online Banking BACS bank transfer. But I would like to know if there is a way to do this automatically using an API. If we need to somehow register the 3rd parties bank account details before making transfers, this is fine. We just want to automate the whole process, since at the moment the transfer is a manual step. Are there any gateways or APIs I can use for this? In the UK?

  I am designing a client-server chat application in Java. This is a secure application where the messages are exchanged using cryptographic algorithms. I have one server and it can support many clients. My problem is that when one client logs on the server it works fine, but when another user logs into the system, the server starts giving me bad padding exceptions for the encrypted text. I am not able to figure out the problem, according to my logic, when new connection request to server is made, the server creates a thread for listening to the client. Is it possible that once the instance of thread class is created, it does all the processing correctly for the first client, but not for the second client because the variables in server listener thread class already have some previous value, and thus the encrypted text is not decrypted properly? Please advise how I can make this process more robust so that the number of clients does not affect how well the server functions.

• .NET Thread Pool - Unresponsive WinForms UI

  Scenario I have a Windows Forms Application. Inside the main form there is a loop that iterates around 3000 times, Creating a new instance of a class on a new thread to perform some calculations. Bearing in mind that this setup uses a Thread Pool, the UI does stay responsive when there are only around 100 iterations of this loop (100 Assets to process). But as soon as this number begins to increase heavily, the UI locks up into eggtimer mode and the thus the log that is writing out to the listbox on the form becomes unreadable. Question Am I right in thinking that the best way around this is to use a Background Worker? And is the UI locking up because even though I'm using lots of different threads (for speed), the UI itself is not on its own separate thread? Suggested Implementations greatly appreciated.

  I have a 30-ish page manual in docbook. However, working with docbook is so painful that I don't really update it. I want to switch to restructedText instead. I can't find any direct translator (the best I could find is ezComponents, but it fails on the docbook sgml). Maybe there is an indirect route through RTF or some other format, but I can't figure it out. Any ideas? PS The current conversion process is: docbook -> jade -> html docbook -> jade -> tex -> pdflatex -> pdf

  I've recompiled php 5.3.0 under OS X Server (10.6.3) in order to gain Freetype support in GD. As part of the process, I recompiled libjpeg-8a (and before that I tried libjpeg-7).   To generate a valid pairwise master key for a WPA2 network a router uses the PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA1 algorithm. I understand that the sha1 function is performed 4096 times to derive the PMK, however I have two questions about the process. Excuse the pseudo code. 1) How is the input to the first instance of the SHA1 function formatted? SHA1("network_name"+"network_name_length"+"network_password") Is it formatted in that order, is it the hex value of the network name, length and password or straight ASCII? Then from what I gather the 160 bit digest received is fed straight into another round of hashing without any additional salting. Like this: SHA1("160bit digest from last round of hashing") Rise and repeat. 2) Once this occurs 4096 times 256 bits of the output is used as the pairwise master key. What I don't understand is that if SHA1 produces 160bit output, how does the algorithm arrive at the 256bits required for a key? Thanks for the help.

• Best practice in this situation?

  My Delphi program relies heavily on Outlook automation. Outlook versions prior to 2007-SP2 tend to get stuck in memory due to badly written addins and badly written Outlook code. If Outlook is stuck, calling CreateOleObject('Outlook.Application') or GetActiveObject ... doesn't return and keeps my application hanging till Outlook.exe is closed in the task manager. I've thought of a solution, but I'm unsure whether it's good practice or not. I'd start Outlook with CreateOleObject in a separate thread, wait 10 seconds in my main thread and if Outlook hangs (CreateOleObject doesn't return), offer the user to kill the Outlook.exe process from my program. But since I don't want to force the user to kill the Outlook.exe proccess, as an alternative I also need a way to kill the new thread in my program which keeps hanging now. My questions are: a, Is this good practice b, How can I terminate a hanging thread in Delphi without leaking memory? Is there a way?

• Subversion core on a sharedhosting

  Hi! I've signed up for a shared hosting plan in bluehost and tried installing a subversion by following this instruction: bluehost forum svn install script all goes well at first even tried svnadmin create project_name and was a success but then when I traverse to project_name I got this error "svn: '.' is not a working copy" when I run svn info. I think I may have encountered an error on the compilation process, can't remember exactly but i think it has something to do with a ".so" file when I run the make && make install command , something about permission. Any help or suggestion is very much appreciated. Thanks!

• Current date in rails form

  Hi, Im learning rails and exploring a bit away from the book and creating a simple application with added functionality as i increase my knowledge. Im writing a simple blog application and i have a field in the form called date added, i don't want this to be a field i want it to get the date from the server and place it in to the database automatically. How would i go about doing this? I was thinking of a hidden field but then unsure on how to process the date and insert it to the hidden field. Is this the wrong way of going about things? • Teaching coworkers LINQ...

  I have set myself upon a journey to educate my coworkers (all have accepted my mission, even the boss). Every day I seem to find a piece of code that could have been less error prone if my coworkers knew more about the framework, better-know-framework (in courtesy of DNR ;)) is part two of my teaching process. First part is teaching my coworkers about LINQ, what it can do for them and how it is written. My big question is where are all the good basic resources for LINQ education, everything if find is tightly coupled to Linq2Sql or all other sorts of material. Neither have I been able to find a tutorial for the actual linq syntax (except a specification of it all). (I hope this haven't been asked before but if it has please say so, cause then my searching skills have failed ;) )
