  • Casting of object for a class loaded at runtime

    - by Steven
hi, i load a class using Class.forName(klassname, false, loader) After this i create an instance using klass.newInstance(); It returns an object type.I want to cast it to specific type(ie.Klassnamw instance).I used normal casting but it gets hung because it is not resolved during runtime. How can i cast it?Hellp

  • Screen Casting using ffmpeg (too fast)

    - by rowman
    I can use ffmpeg to make screen casts: ffmpeg -f x11grab -s 1280x800 -i :0.0 -c:v libx264 -framerate 30 -r 30 -crf 18 out.mkv However the output comes out to be too fast paced. It also happens with GTK RecordMyDesktop if I enable the encode on the fly. So, the questions is how to get a normal video pace. Also in order to capture the sound with ffmpeg what option should be used? FFmpeg Output: ffmpeg -f x11grab -s 1280x800 -r 30 -i :0.0 -c:v libx264 -framerate 30 -r 30 -crf 18 out.mkv ffmpeg version N-35162-g87244c8 Copyright (c) 2000-2012 the FFmpeg developers built on Oct 7 2012 15:56:19 with gcc 4.6 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu5) configuration: --enable-gpl --enable-libfaac --enable-libfdk-aac --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopencore-amrnb --enable-libopencore-amrwb --enable-librtmp --enable-libtheora --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvpx --enable-x11grab --enable-libx264 --enable-nonfree --enable-version3 libavutil 51. 73.102 / 51. 73.102 libavcodec 54. 64.100 / 54. 64.100 libavformat 54. 29.105 / 54. 29.105 libavdevice 54. 3.100 / 54. 3.100 libavfilter 3. 19.102 / 3. 19.102 libswscale 2. 1.101 / 2. 1.101 libswresample 0. 16.100 / 0. 16.100 libpostproc 52. 1.100 / 52. 1.100 [x11grab @ 0xab896a0] device: :0.0 -> display: :0.0 x: 0 y: 0 width: 1280 height: 800 [x11grab @ 0xab896a0] shared memory extension found [x11grab @ 0xab896a0] Estimating duration from bitrate, this may be inaccurate Input #0, x11grab, from ':0.0': Duration: N/A, start: 1350136942.608988, bitrate: 983040 kb/s Stream #0:0: Video: rawvideo (BGR[0] / 0x524742), bgr0, 1280x800, 983040 kb/s, 30 tbr, 1000k tbn, 30 tbc [libx264 @ 0xab87320] using cpu capabilities: MMX2 SSE2Fast SSSE3 Cache64 SlowCTZ SlowAtom [libx264 @ 0xab87320] profile High 4:4:4 Predictive, level 3.2, 4:4:4 8-bit [libx264 @ 0xab87320] 264 -   • How to force c# binary int division to return a double?

    - by Wayne
How to force double x = 3 / 2; to return 1.5 in x without the D suffix or casting? Is there any kind of operator overload that can be done? Or some compiler option? Amazingly, it's not so simple to add the casting or suffix for the following reason: Business users need to write and debug their own formulas. Presently C# is getting used like a DSL (domain specific language) in that these users aren't computer science engineers. So all they know is how to edit and create a few types of classes to hold their "business rules" which are generally just math formulas. But they always assume that double x = 3 / 2; will return x = 1.5 however in C# that returns 1. A. they always forget this, waste time debugging, call me for support and we fix it. B. they think it's very ugly and hurts the readability of their business rules. As you know, DSL's need to be more like natural language. Yes. We are planning to move to Boo and build a DSL based on it but that's down the road. Is there a simple solution to make double x = 3 / 2; return 1.5 by something external to the class so it's invisible to the users? Thanks! Wayne

  • why unsigned int 0xFFFFFFFF is equal to int -1?

    - by conejoroy
perhaps it's a very stupid question but I'm having a hard time figuring this out =) in C or C++ it is said that the maximum number a size_t (an unsigned int data type) can hold is the same as casting -1 to that data type. for example see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1420982/invalid-value-for-sizet Why?? I'm confused.. I mean, (talking about 32 bit ints) AFAIK the most significant bit holds the sign in a signed data type (that is, bit 0x80000000 to form a negative number). then, 1 is 0x00000001.. 0x7FFFFFFFF is the greatest positive number a int data type can hold. then, AFAIK the binary representation of -1 int should be 0x80000001 (perhaps I'm wrong). why/how this binary value is converted to anything completely different (0xFFFFFFFF) when casting ints to unsigned?? or.. how is it possible to form a binary -1 out of 0xFFFFFFFF? I have no doubt that in C: ((unsigned int)-1) == 0xFFFFFFFF or ((int)0xFFFFFFFF) == -1 is equally true than 1 + 1 == 2, I'm just wondering why. thanks!

  • Which cast am I using?

    - by Knowing me knowing you
    I'm trying to cast away const from an object but it doesn't work. But if I use old C-way of casting code compiles. So which casting I'm suppose to use to achieve this same effect? I wouldn't like to cast the old way. //file IntSet.h #include "stdafx.h" #pragma once /*Class representing set of integers*/ template<class T> class IntSet { private: T** myData_; std::size_t mySize_; std::size_t myIndex_; public: #pragma region ctor/dtor explicit IntSet(); virtual ~IntSet(); #pragma endregion #pragma region publicInterface IntSet makeUnion(const IntSet&)const; IntSet makeIntersection(const IntSet&)const; IntSet makeSymmetricDifference(const IntSet&)const; void insert(const T&); #pragma endregion }; //file IntSet_impl.h #include "StdAfx.h" #include "IntSet.h" #pragma region ctor/dtor template<class T> IntSet<T>::IntSet():myData_(nullptr), mySize_(0), myIndex_(0) { } IntSet<T>::~IntSet() { } #pragma endregion #pragma region publicInterface template<class T> void IntSet<T>::insert(const T& obj) { /*Check if we are initialized*/ if (mySize_ == 0) { mySize_ = 1; myData_ = new T*[mySize_]; } /*Check if we have place to insert obj in.*/ if (myIndex_ < mySize_) {//IS IT SAFE TO INCREMENT myIndex while assigning? myData_[myIndex_++] = &T(obj);//IF I DO IT THE OLD WAY IT WORKS return; } /*We didn't have enough place...*/ T** tmp = new T*[mySize_];//for copying old to temporary basket std::copy(&myData_[0],&myData_[mySize_],&tmp[0]); } #pragma endregion Thanks.

  • Implicit casting in VB.NET

    - by Shimmy
The question is intended for lazy VB programmers. Please. In vb I can do and I won't get any errors. Example 1 Dim x As String = 5 Dim y As Integer = "5" Dim b As Boolean = "True" Example 2 Dim a As EnumType = 4 Dim v As Integer = EnumType.EnumValue Example 3 Private Sub ButtonClick(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Dim btn As Button = sender End Sub Example 4 Private Sub ButtonClick(sender As Button, e As EventArgs) Dim data As Contact = sender.Tag End Sub If I surely know the expected runtime type, is this 'forbidden' to rely on the vb-language built-in casting? When can I rely? Thanks

  • java casting a list

    - by dcp
Let's say I had: protected void performLogic(List<Object> docs) { ... } In the code where I'm going to be calling this method, I have a List<String> list. I want to call performLogic, passing this list. But it won't work because the lists are 2 different types: public void execute() { List<String> docs = new ArrayList<String>(); performLogin(docs); // won't work } I tried casting to List<Object> also, but that won't work either. So is the only way to do this is to make a new ArrayList of Object and just add the values and then pass it? Just seems cumbersome. I wondered if there was a better way to do it. Thanks.

  • Last byte missing when casting from varbinary to varchar

    - by xaxie
I got the last byte losing when converting varbinary to varchar in some case. For example: DECLARE @binary varbinary(8000), @char varchar(8000) set @binary = 0x000082 set @char = CAST(@binary as varchar(8000)) select BinaryLength=DATALENGTH(@binary), CharLength=DATALENGTH(@char) The result is BinaryLength CharLength 3 2 The affected byte value is from 0x81 - 0xFE. The stranger thing is that if I use varchar(MAX) instead varchar(8000) when casting, there is no any problem. Could someone tell me the root cause of the issue? PS: I run the sql in MS SQL server 2008. Thanks!

  • typeid , dynamic casting (upcast) and templates

    - by David
Hello, I have few questions regarding dynamic casting , typeid() and templates 1) How come typeid does not require RTTI ? 2) dynamic_cast on polymorphic type: When I do downcast (Base to Derive) with RTTI - compilation passes When RTTI is off - I get a warning (warning C4541: 'dynamic_cast' used on polymorphic type 'CBase' with /GR-; unpredictable behavior may result) When I do upcast (Derive to Base), with or without RTTI - compilation passes smoothly What I don't understand is why when I do upcast and RTTI is off - I don't get any warning/error! 3) dynamic_cast on NON polymorphic type: When I do downcast with or without RTTI - compilation fails (error C2683: 'dynamic_cast' : 'CBase' is not a polymorphic type) BUT When I do upcast with or without RTTI - compilation passes smoothly. How come on upcast on NON polymorphic type passes w/o RTTI ? 4) Does 'inline' in front of a template function has any effect, i.e. when the compiler compiles the function and see it is 'inline' it will actually treat the function as inline or it is ignored? Thank you very much for the assistance David

  • Type casting needed for byte = byte - byte?

    - by Vaccano
I have the following code: foreach (byte b in bytes) { byte inv = byte.MaxValue - b; // Add the new value to a list.... } When I do this I get the following error: Cannot implicitly convert type 'int' to 'byte'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?) Each part of this statement is a byte. Why does C# want to convert the byte.MaxValue - b to an int? Shouldn't you be able to do this some how without casting? (i.e. I don't want to have to do this: byte inv = (byte) (byte.MaxValue - b);)

  • casting unused return values to void

    - by markh44
int fn(); void whatever() { (void) fn(); } Is there any reason for casting an unused return value to void, or am I right in thinking it's a complete waste of time? Follow up: Well that seems pretty comprehensive. I suppose it's better than commenting an unused return value since self documenting code is better than comments. Personally, I'll turn these warnings off since it's unnecessary noise. I'll eat my words if a bug escapes because of it...

  • Dynamically allocated structure and casting.

    - by Simone Margaritelli
Let's say I have a first structure like this: typedef struct { int ivalue; char cvalue; } Foo; And a second one: typedef struct { int ivalue; char cvalue; unsigned char some_data_block[0xFF]; } Bar; Now let's say I do the following: Foo *pfoo; Bar *pbar; pbar = new Bar; pfoo = (Foo *)pbar; delete pfoo; Now, when I call the delete operator, how much memory does it free? sizeof(int) + sizeof(char) Or sizeof(int) + sizeof(char) + sizeof(char) * 0xFF ? And if it's the first case due to the casting, is there any way to prevent this memory leak from happening? Note: please don't answer "use C++ polymorphism" or similar, I am using this method for a reason.

  • Is Dynamic Casting Possible in Java

    - by Tom Tucker
So I have a class of overloaded methods like this: class Foo { public void test(Object value) { ... } public void test(String value) { ... } } I need to pass a property value of a bean to one of these methods depending on its type, but I don't know the actual property type until the runtime. e.g. public void run(Object bean, String propertyName) { Foo foo = new Foo(); foo.test(PropertyUtils.getProperty(bean, propertyName)); } BTW, PropertyUtils.getProperty() is a helper method that returns a value of the specified property on a bean. PropertyUtils.getProperty() returns an Object, so that test(Object value) will be always called and the actual property type will be ignored. I can figure out the propery type in the runtime, even if its value is null. Is there such a thing as dynamic casting in Java? If not, is there a way to have an overloaded method with the correct parameter type called?

  • Casting to specific asp.net page type

    - by DEH
I have an asp.net page with a code-behind class definition as follows: public partial class examplepage : System.Web.UI.Page I'd like to set a public property within the page that I can reference from other classes. My understanding is that if I cast to examplepage then I should be able to get at the public property that is specific to example page, as in: string test=((examplepage)HttpContext.Current.Handler).propertyX; However, when I try casting as above the compiler does not recognise examplepage. Can anyone tell me how I can cast? I have no specific namespaces defined. Thanks

  • Casting Class into String and Vice Versa in JAVA

    - by topgun_ivard
I have a program in which I need to store a Class object into memory by casting it into String. Is it possible to convert the String back into the original Class so that I can use that class variables? I am doing this in JAVA. Example: test.java class hello{ public String h1; public String h2; } public class test { public static void main(String[] args) { hello h = new hello(); h.h1 = "hello"; h.h2 = "world"; String s = h.toString(); System.out.println("Print s : "+s); // Now I need to convert String s into type hello so that // I can do this: // (hello)s.h1; // (hello)s.h2; } } NOTE: this is not a homework, this is a personal project and I would be grateful if anyone can help! Thanks! Ivar

Function MakeInteger(val) If IsNumeric(val) Then MakeInteger = CInt(val) Else MakeInteger = 0 End If End Function Unfortunately there appear to be some things that return true for IsNumeric() but still can't be cast as an int.
