  • Predicate crashing iPhone App!

    - by DVG
To preface, this is a follow up to an inquiry made a few days ago: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2981803/iphone-app-crashes-when-merging-managed-object-contexts Short Version: EXC_BAD_ACCESS is crashing my app, and zombie-mode revealed the culprit to be my predicate embedded within the fetch request embedded in my Fetched Results Controller. How does an object within an object get released without an explicit command to do so? Long Version: Application Structure Platforms View Controller - Games View Controller (Predicated upon platform selection) - Add Game View Controller When a row gets clicked on the Platforms view, it sets an instance variable in Games View for that platform, then the Games Fetched Results Controller builds a fetch request in the normal way: - (NSFetchedResultsController *)fetchedResultsController{ if (fetchedResultsController != nil) { return fetchedResultsController; } //build the fetch request for Games NSFetchRequest *request = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Game" inManagedObjectContext:context]; [request setEntity:entity]; //predicate NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"platform == %@", selectedPlatform]; [request setPredicate:predicate]; //sort based on name NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"name" ascending:YES]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:sortDescriptor, nil]; [request setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; //fetch and build fetched results controller NSFetchedResultsController *aFetchedResultsController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:request managedObjectContext:context sectionNameKeyPath:nil cacheName:@"Root"]; aFetchedResultsController.delegate = self; self.fetchedResultsController = aFetchedResultsController; [sortDescriptor release]; [sortDescriptors release]; [predicate release]; [request release]; [aFetchedResultsController release]; return fetchedResultsController; } At the end of this method, the fetchedResultsController's _fetch_request - _predicate member is set to an NSComparisonPredicate object. All is well in the world. By the time - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section gets called, the _predicate is now a Zombie, which will eventually crash the application when the table attempts to update itself. I'm more or less flummoxed. I'm not releasing the fetched results controller or any of it's parts, and the only part getting dealloc'd is the predicate. Any ideas?

  • iphone simulator crashes when it tries to access user location

    - by kevin Mendoza
for some reason my code causes my program to crash. does anyone know why or how to fix it? NSLog(@"here"); CLLocation *location = [locationManager location]; [mapView removeAnnotations:mapView.annotations]; NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; CLLocationCoordinate2D workingCoordinate = [location coordinate]; NSLog(@" this is %@", workingCoordinate.latitude); it makes it to the first NSLog, but somewhere between the first and second it crashes. My guess is that it has to do with the CLLocation *location line.

  • Application crashing when talking to oracle unless executable path contains spaces

    - by Lasse V. Karlsen
We have an x-files problem with our .NET application. Or, rather, hybrid Win32 and .NET application. When it attempts to communicate with Oracle, it just dies. Vanishes. Goes to the big black void in the sky. No event log message, no exception, no nothing. If we simply ask the application to talk to a MS SQL Server instead, which has the effect of replacing the usage of OracleConnection and related classes with SqlConnection and related classes, it works as expected. Today we had a breakthrough. For some reason, a customer had figured out that by placing all the application files in a directory on his desktop, it worked as expected with Oracle as well. Moving the directory down to the root of the drive, or in C:\Temp or, well, around a bit, made the crash reappear. Basically it was 100% reproducable that the application worked if run from directory on desktop, and failed if run from directory in root. Today we figured out that the difference that counted was wether there was a space in the directory name or not. So, these directories would work: C:\Program Files\AppDir\Executable.exe C:\Temp Lemp\AppDir\Executable.exe C:\Documents and Settings\someuser\Desktop\AppDir\Executable.exe whereas these would not: C:\CompanyName\AppDir\Executable.exe C:\Programfiler\AppDir\Executable.exe <-- Program Files in norwegian C:\Temp\AppDir\Executable.exe I'm hoping someone reading this has seen similar behavior and have a "aha, you need to twiddle the frob on the oracle glitz driver configuration" or similar. Anyone? Followup #1: Ok, I've processed the procmon output now, both files from when I hit the button that attempts to open the window that triggers the cascade failure, and I've noticed that they keep track mostly, there's some smallish differences near the top of both files, and they they keep track a long way down. However, when one run fails, the other keeps going and the next few lines of the log output are these: ReadFile C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\BIN\orageneric10.dll SUCCESS Offset: 274 432, Length: 32 768, I/O Flags: Non-cached, Paging I/O, Synchronous Paging I/O ReadFile C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\BIN\orageneric10.dll SUCCESS Offset: 233 472, Length: 32 768, I/O Flags: Non-cached, Paging I/O, Synchronous Paging I/O After this, the working run continues to execute, and the other touches the mscorwks.dll files a few times before threads close down and the app closes. Thus, the failed run does not touch the above files. Followup #2: Figured I'd try to upgrade the oracle client drivers, but 10.2.0.1 is apparently the highest version available for Windows 2003 server and XP clients. Followup #3: Well, we've ended up with a black-box solution. Basically we found that the problem is somewhere related to XPO and Oracle. XPO has a system-table it manages, called XPObjectType, with three columns: Oid, TypeName and AssemblyName. Due to how Oracle is configured in the databases we talk to, the column names were OID, TYPENAME and ASSEMBLYNAME. This would ordinarily not be a problem, except that XPO talks to the schema information directly and checks if the table is there with the right column names, and XPO doesn't handle case differences so it sees a XPObjectType table with three unknown columns and none of those it expects. Exactly what XPO does now I don't really know, but if I dropped this table, and recreated it with the right case, using double quotes around all the column names to get the case right, the problem doesn't crop up. Exactly where the space in the folder name comes into this, I still have no idea, but this problem had two tiers: Stop the application from crashing at our customers, short-term solution Fix the bug, long-term solution Right now tier 1 is solved, tier 2 will be put back into the queue for now and prioritized. We're facing some bigger changes to our data tier anyway so this might not be a problem we need to solve, at least if all our Oracle-customers verify that the table-fix actually gets rid of the problem. I'll accept the answer by Dave Markle since though Process Monitor (the big brother of File Monitor) didn't actually pinpoint the problem, I was able to use it to determine that after my breakpoint in user-code where XPO had built up the query for this table, no I/O happened until all the entries for the application closing down was logged, which led me to believe it was this table that was the culprit, or at least influenced the problem somehow. If I manage to get to the real cause of this, I'll update the post.

  • Application pool crashing regularly (8007006d) (Service Unavailable)

    - by Phil
I have a basic web form site running. Nothing out of the ordinary. It is frequently crashing the application pool. The error code I got from the logs is '8007006d'. Googling this does not come up with the usual bevy of results.... I do get a few people with a similar problem. Any the advise seems to be that the error is related to registry permissions. Can anyone confirm / disconfirm this theory. That if I get error 8007006d it is definately a reg permissions problem? Here is the code from my page. I'm not seeing anything that would cause a memory leak or make this happen. It is basically just one big insert command with many parameters? • NSFetchedResultsController crashing on performFetch: when using a cache

    - by Oliver
I make use of NSFetchedResultsController to display a bunch of objects, which are sectioned using dates. On a fresh install, it all works perfectly and the objects are displayed in the table view. However, it seems that when the app is relaunched I get a crash. I specify a cache when initialising the NSFetchedResultsController, and when I don't it works perfectly. Here is how I create my NSFetchedResultsController: - (NSFetchedResultsController *)results { // If we are not nil, stop here if (results != nil) return results; // Create the fetch request, entity and sort descriptors NSFetchRequest *fetch = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Event" inManagedObjectContext:self.managedObjectContext]; NSSortDescriptor *descriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"utc_start" ascending:YES]; NSArray *descriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:descriptor, nil]; // Set properties on the fetch [fetch setEntity:entity]; [fetch setSortDescriptors:descriptors]; // Create a fresh fetched results controller NSFetchedResultsController *fetched = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:fetch managedObjectContext:self.managedObjectContext sectionNameKeyPath:@"day" cacheName:@"Events"]; fetched.delegate = self; self.results = fetched; // Release objects and return our controller [fetched release]; [fetch release]; [descriptor release]; [descriptors release]; return results; } These are the messages I get when the app crashes: FATAL ERROR: The persistent cache of section information does not match the current configuration. You have illegally mutated the NSFetchedResultsController's fetch request, its predicate, or its sort descriptor without either disabling caching or using +deleteCacheWithName: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'FATAL ERROR: The persistent cache of section information does not match the current configuration. You have illegally mutated the NSFetchedResultsController's fetch request, its predicate, or its sort descriptor without either disabling caching or using +deleteCacheWithName:' I really have no clue as to why it's saying that, as I don't believe I'm doing anything special that would cause this. The only potential issue is the section header (day), which I construct like this when creating a new object: // Set the new format [formatter setDateFormat:@"dd MMMM"]; // Set the day of the event [event setValue:[formatter stringFromDate:[event valueForKey:@"utc_start"]] forKey:@"day"]; Like I mentioned, all of this works fine if there is no cache involved. Any help appreciated!

  • IOs7 app crashing when in background

    - by Leonardo
My app sometimes crashes when in background and shows the following crash log: Nov 7 12:33:31 iPad backboardd[29] <Warning>: MyApp[3096] has active assertions beyond permitted time: {( <BKProcessAssertion: 0x14680c60> identifier: Called by MyApp, from -[AppDelegate applicationDidEnterBackground:] process: MyApp[3096] permittedBackgroundDuration: 180.000000 reason: finishTask owner pid:3096 preventSuspend preventIdleSleep preventSuspendOnSleep )} Looking through other questions I found out that the crash message indicates that I didn't end a task properly, so when its time expired the OS ended it and crashed my app. So I added some NSLogs: - (void)applicationDidEnterBackground:(UIApplication *)application { [self saveContext]; [Settings setCallLock:YES]; [self saveStuff]; if ([self isBackgroundTaskNeeded]) { UIApplication* app = [UIApplication sharedApplication]; bgTask = [app beginBackgroundTaskWithExpirationHandler:^{ [self pauseDownloads]; NSLog(@"Debug - Ending background task %d",bgTask); [app endBackgroundTask:bgTask]; NSLog(@"Debug - Background task %d ended",bgTask); bgTask = UIBackgroundTaskInvalid; }]; NSLog(@"Debug - Starting background task %d",bgTask); [self initBackground]; } } and found out that the task was called twice when it crashed: Nov 7 12:30:02 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Starting background task 7 Nov 7 12:30:30 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Starting background task 8 Nov 7 12:33:26 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Ending background task 8 Nov 7 12:33:26 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Background task 8 ended Nov 7 12:33:26 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Ending background task 0 Nov 7 12:33:26 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Background task 0 ended I wasn't able to tell when the double call happens and why. • Mixed-mode C++/CLI crashing: heap corruption in atexit (static destructor registration)

    - by thaimin
I am working on deploying a program and the codebase is a mixture of C++/CLI and C#. The C++/CLI comes in all flavors: native, mixed (/clr), and safe (/clr:safe). In my development environment I create a DLL of all the C++/CLI code and reference that from the C# code (EXE). This method works flawlessly. For my releases that I want to release a single executable (simply stating that "why not just have a DLL and EXE separate?" is not acceptable). So far I have succeeded in compiling the EXE with all the different sources. However, when I run it I get the "XXXX has stopped working" dialog with options to Check online, Close and Debug. The problem details are as follows: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Fault Module Name: StackHash_8d25 Fault Module Version: 6.1.7600.16559 Fault Module Timestamp: 4ba9b29c Exception Code: c0000374 Exception Offset: 000cdc9b OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 8d25 Additional Information 2: 8d25552d834e8c143c43cf1d7f83abb8 Additional Information 3: 7450 Additional Information 4: 74509ce510cd821216ce477edd86119c If I debug and send it to Visual Studio, it reports: Unhandled exception at 0x77d2dc9b in XXX.exe: A heap has been corrupted Choosing break results in it stopping at ntdll.dll!77d2dc9b() with no additional information. If I tell Visual Studio to continue, the program starts up fine and seems to work without incident, probably since a debugger is now attached. What do you make of this? How do I avoid this heap corruption? The program seems to work fine except for this. My abridged compilation script is as follows (I have omitted my error checking for brevity): @set TARGET=x86 @set TARGETX=x86 @set OUT=%TARGETX% @call "%VS90COMNTOOLS%\..\..\VC\vcvarsall.bat" %TARGET% @set WIMGAPI=C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\SDKs\WIMGAPI\%TARGET% set CL=/Zi /nologo /W4 /O2 /GS /EHa /MD /MP /D NDEBUG /D _UNICODE /D UNICODE /D INTEGRATED /Fd%OUT%\ /Fo%OUT%\ set INCLUDE=%WIMGAPI%;%INCLUDE% set LINK=/nologo /LTCG /CLRIMAGETYPE:IJW /MANIFEST:NO /MACHINE:%TARGETX% /SUBSYSTEM:WINDOWS,6.0 /OPT:REF /OPT:ICF /DEFAULTLIB:msvcmrt.lib set LIB=%WIMGAPI%;%LIB% set CSC=/nologo /w:4 /d:INTEGRATED /o+ /target:module :: Compiling resources omitted @set CL_NATIVE=/c /FI"stdafx-native.h" @set CL_MIXED=/c /clr /LN /FI"stdafx-mixed.h" @set CL_PURE=/c /clr:safe /LN /GL /FI"stdafx-pure.h" @set NATIVE=... @set MIXED=... @set PURE=... cl %CL_NATIVE% %NATIVE% cl %CL_MIXED% %MIXED% cl %CL_PURE% %PURE% link /LTCG /NOASSEMBLY /DLL /OUT:%OUT%\core.netmodule %OUT%\*.obj csc %CSC% /addmodule:%OUT%\core.netmodule /out:%OUT%\GUI.netmodule /recurse:*.cs link /FIXED /ENTRY:GUI.Program.Main /OUT:%OUT%\XXX.exe ^ /ASSEMBLYRESOURCE:%OUT%\core.resources,XXX.resources,PRIVATE /ASSEMBLYRESOURCE:%OUT%\GUI.resources,GUI.resources,PRIVATE ^ /ASSEMBLYMODULE:%OUT%\core.netmodule %OUT%\gui.res %OUT%\*.obj %OUT%\GUI.netmodule Update 1 Upon compiling this with debug symbols and trying again, I do in fact get more information. The line of my code that 'causes' this (dynamic initializer for Bytes::Null) is: Bytes Bytes::Null; In the header that is declared as: class Bytes { public: static Bytes Null; } I also tried doing a global extern in the header like so: extern Bytes Null; // header Bytes Null; // cpp file Which failed in the same way. It seems that the CRT atexit function is responsible, being inadvertently required due to the static initializer. Fix As Ben Voigt pointed out the use of any CRT functions (including native static initializers) requires proper initialization of the CRT (which happens in mainCRTStartup, WinMainCRTStartup, or _DllMainCRTStartup). I have added a mixed C++/CLI file that has a C++ main or WinMain: using namespace System; [STAThread] // required if using an STA COM objects (such as drag-n-drop or file dialogs) int main() { // or "int __stdcall WinMain(void*, void*, wchar_t**, int)" for GUI applications array<String^> ^args_orig = Environment::GetCommandLineArgs(); int l = args_orig->Length - 1; // required to remove first argument (program name) array<String^> ^args = gcnew array<String^>(l); if (l > 0) Array::Copy(args_orig, 1, args, 0, l); return XXX::CUI::Program::Main(args); // return XXX::GUI::Program::Main(args); } After doing this, the program now gets a little further, but still has issues (which will be addressed elsewhere): When the program is solely in C# it works fine, along with whenever it is just calling C++/CLI methods, getting C++/CLI properties, and creating managed C++/CLI objects Events added by C# into the C++/CLI code never fire (even though they should) One other weird error is that an exception happens is a InvalidCastException saying can't cast from X to X (where X is the same as X...) However since the heap corruption is fixed (by getting the CRT initialized) the question is done.

  • iPhone crashing when presenting modal view controller

    - by Michael Waterfall
    Hi there, I'm trying to display a modal view straight after another view has been presented modally (the second is a loading view that appears). - (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewDidAppear:animated]; // Show load LoadViewController *loader = [[LoadViewController alloc] init]; [self presentModalViewController: loader animated:NO]; [loader release]; } But when I do this I get a "Program received signal: "EXC_BAD_ACCESS"." error. I'm totally stumped! The loading view is empty so there's definitely nothing going on in there that's causing the error. Is it something to do with launching 2 views modally in the same event loop or something? Thanks, Mike Edit: Very strange... I have modified it slightly so that the loading view is shown after a tiny delay, and this works fine! So it appears to be something within the same event loop! - (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewDidAppear:animated]; // Show load [self performSelector:@selector(doit) withObject:nil afterDelay:0.1]; } - (void)doit { [self presentModalViewController:loader animated:YES]; }

  • MFMailComposeController crashing non-deterministically

    - by sss
    Hello, I've been struggling with this issue for a few days. I am trying to use the MFMailComposeController to send emails. What's happening is that the program crashes (long stack-trace below) upon clicking the SEND button. However, this is non-deterministic - sometimes it works immediately, sometimes after a long delay, and most often, it crashes. Here's my code for sending: -(void)mailWithAttachment:(NSString *) fileName type:(NSString*) attachmentType data:(NSData *) attachmentData { MFMailComposeViewController *mc = [[MFMailComposeViewController alloc] init]; mc.mailComposeDelegate = self; if ([MFMailComposeViewController canSendMail]) { [mc setSubject:@"my subject"]; [mc setMessageBody:@"my body" isHTML:YES]; [mc addAttachmentData:attachmentData mimeType:attachmentType fileName:fileName]; [self presentModalViewController:mc animated:YES]; } [mc release]; } didFinish result looks like you'd imagine: -(void)mailComposeController:(MFMailComposeViewController*)controller didFinishWithResult:(MFMailComposeResult)result error:(NSError*)error { [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; //...some other actions here for other UI logic, but problem persists if removed } And the definition of the class: @interface ShareViewController : UIViewController { //... } Here's the stack trace: #0 0x33568534 in gdb_objc_debuggerModeFailure #1 0x3356634e in _rwlock_write_nodebug #2 0x33560940 in map_images #3 0x2fe0413e in __dyld__ZN4dyldL18notifyBatchPartialE17dyld_image_statesbPFPKcS0_jPK15dyld_image_infoE #4 0x2fe042d4 in __dyld__ZN4dyldL11notifyBatchE17dyld_image_states #5 0x2fe0aee0 in __dyld__ZN11ImageLoader4linkERKNS_11LinkContextEbbRKNS_10RPathChainE #6 0x2fe062d6 in __dyld__ZN4dyld4linkEP11ImageLoaderbRKNS0_10RPathChainE #7 0x2fe08188 in __dyld_dlopen #8 0x30c18fd0 in dlopen #9 0x0000390c in <function called from gdb> #10 0x3356628e in getMethodNoSuper_nolock #11 0x335662b8 in _class_getMethodNoSuper_nolock #12 0x3356518a in lookUpMethod #13 0x33562914 in _class_lookupMethodAndLoadCache #14 0x3356264a in objc_msgSend_uncached #15 0x33562a2a in _class_initialize #16 0x33567dfe in prepareForMethodLookup #17 0x33565168 in lookUpMethod #18 0x33562914 in _class_lookupMethodAndLoadCache #19 0x3356264a in objc_msgSend_uncached #20 0x32b2c288 in +[NSTimeZone(NSTimeZone) defaultTimeZone] #21 0x32b2c246 in -[NSCalendarDate initWithTimeIntervalSinceReferenceDate:] #22 0x32b3beb4 in -[NSDate(NSCalendarDateStuff) descriptionWithCalendarFormat:timeZone:locale:] #23 0x323642fc in -[NSDate(Goodies) descriptionForMimeHeaders] #24 0x32a6e812 in -[MailComposeController headersUseSuspendInfo:] #25 0x32a71e38 in -[MailComposeController messageUseSuspendInfo:endingEditing:] #26 0x32a6e594 in -[MailComposeController _getMessage:] #27 0x32a6e536 in -[MailComposeController message] #28 0x32a72bcc in -[MailComposeController deliverMessageRemotely] #29 0x32a7cab0 in -[_MFMailComposeRootViewController mailComposeControllerCompositionFinished:] #30 0x32a6e0a0 in -[MailComposeController sendMessage] #31 0x32a7086a in -[MailComposeController send:] #32 0x32c29ffa in -[NSObject performSelector:withObject:] #33 0x32a661cc in -[MailComposeView _sendButtonClicked:] I've tried the MFMailComposeController as a child of different views with the same result. • Sonar Analysis crashing with default configuration in Maven

    - by Robert Mandeville
I'm starting to experiment with Sonar, and having trouble. I'm running everything on the same Red Hat Linux server, against Java 1.6.10. I launched the server with "bin/linux-x86-32" (the JVM is 32-bit). The sonar.log shows no SEVERE or ERROR and one WARNING, that I'm using the default Derby database (I'll fix that once I get things running at all). I am trying to build a Maven project that builds a JAR. I made no Sonar-specific changes (other than one described below). I can run "mvn clean install" with no problem. However, if I then run "mvn -e sonar:sonar", I get the stacktrace listed below. The server logs no events. I added the dependency "commons-pool:commons-pool:20030825.183949, but to no avail. • xamlparser error after clickonce deployment.Application crashing after installation

    - by black sensei
Hello Good People, I've built an WPF application with visual studio 2008 and created an installer for it.Works fine so far.I realized it lacks the automatic updates feature, and after trying several solutions, i decided to give a try to clickonce deployment. After a successful deployment on a network server, i 've noticed that the application crashes after installation of the downloaded app.It complains about this: Cannot create instance of 'Login' defined in assembly 'MyApplication, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. in the msi from setup project works fine.so i cannot see where the error is comming from since i can have design view. Question 1 : Does any one have a similar issue, or is that a known issue? Question 2 : If it's a known issue then what are alternative.I might give up on the clickonce but then i my automatic update feature will be lost (as in there is none which is not ovekill or seriously outdated that i can find right now). thanks for reading this and for pointing me to the right direction.

  • Silverlight 4 crashing every browser (SL3 doesn't)

    - by Simon_Weaver
I am testing my application on a number of machines. It is fine on every machine except 1. I'm having problems with one XP machine where in internet explorer, chrome and firefox the Silverlight plugin crashes on EVERY page with Silverlight. Pages that used to work fine with silverlight 3 crash instantly - including my app and the Silverlight Beta 4 demo page!!! The browser crashes instantly and doesn't even attempt to load the page. I don't know how to debug this because there's no error. It just crashes instantly in all these browsers. Reinistalling, rebooting didn't fix the problem.

  • Saving UIImagePickerController images to Core Data without crashing

    - by Gordon Fontenot
I have been trying to minimize my memory footprint with UIImagePickerController, but I'm starting to think that the memory problems I am having are resulting from poor memory management, instead of a particular way to handle the UIImagePickerController object. My workflow is this: The "Edit Image" button is clicked, which presents a UIActionSheet. This action sheet allows you to delete, take a picture, choose from the library, or cancel. If you select Choose from the library or Take Picture, I alloc an instance of UIImagePickerController and present it, followed by a release of UIImagePickerController: -(void)actionSheet:(UIActionSheet *)actionSheet clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { if (actionSheet.tag != 999) { UIImagePickerController *imagePicker = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; imagePicker.delegate = self; BOOL pickImage = nil; if (actionSheet.tag == iPhoneWithDelete) { switch (buttonIndex) { case 0: object.objectImage = nil; pickImage = NO; break; case 1: imagePicker.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera; pickImage = YES; break; case 2: imagePicker.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeSavedPhotosAlbum; pickImage = YES; break; default: pickImage = NO; break; } } else if (actionSheet.tag == iPhoneNoDelete) { switch (buttonIndex) { case 0: imagePicker.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera; pickImage = YES; break; case 1: imagePicker.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeSavedPhotosAlbum; pickImage = YES; break; default: pickImage = NO; break; } } else if (actionSheet.tag == iPodWithDelete) { switch (buttonIndex) { case 0: object.objectImage = nil; pickImage = NO; break; case 1: imagePicker.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeSavedPhotosAlbum; pickImage = YES; break; default: pickImage = NO; break; } } else if (actionSheet.tag == iPodNoDelete) { switch (buttonIndex) { case 0: imagePicker.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeSavedPhotosAlbum; pickImage = YES; break; default: pickImage = NO; break; } } if (pickImage) { imagePicker.allowsEditing = YES; [self presentModalViewController:imagePicker animated:YES]; } else { [self setupImageButton]; [self setupChooseImageButton]; } [imagePicker release]; } } Once I get a selection back from the UIImagePickerController, I save 2 images, a resized version of the edited image to use for a thumbnail, and a 800x600 version of the original unedited image into a relationship attribute (Transformational, using the same UIImage to PNG transformations found in the Recipes demo code) for display use: (the resize methods are based on the one demoed in this SO post.) - (void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo:(NSDictionary *)info { [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; NSManagedObject *oldImage = object.imageFull; if (oldImage != nil) { [object.managedObjectContext deleteObject:oldImage]; } NSManagedObject *image = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Image" inManagedObjectContext:object.managedObjectContext]; object.imageFull = image; UIImage *rawImage = [info objectForKey:@"UIImagePickerControllerOriginalImage"]; CGSize size = CGSizeMake(800, 600); UIImage *fullImage = [UIImageManipulator scaleImage:rawImage toSize:size]; [image setValue:fullImage forKey:@"imageFull"]; UIImage *processedImage = [UIImageManipulator scaleImage:[info objectForKey:@"UIImagePickerControllerEditedImage"] toSize:CGSizeMake(75, 75)]; object.objectImage = processedImage; [self setupImageButton]; [self setupChooseImageButton]; rawImage = nil; fullImage = nil; processedImage = nil; } When I go through viewDidUnload I am setting self.object = nil, and [object release] during dealloc, but I'm still getting memory warnings after about 10 image changes, with a crash at around 20. It leads me to believe that I am not getting that full image out of memory the correct way. What am I missing here? And on a second note, does the Camera source use significantly more memory than the Photo Albums source? I tend to get more crashes when using the camera.

  • Resulting .exe from PyInstaller with wxPython crashing

    - by Helgi Hrafn Gunnarsson
I'm trying to compile a very simple wxPython script into an executable by using PyInstaller on Windows Vista. The Python script is nothing but a Hello World in wxPython. I'm trying to get that up and running as a Windows executable before I add any of the features that the program needs to have. But I'm already stuck. I've jumped through some loops in regards to MSVCR90.DLL, MSVCP90.DLL and MSVCPM90.DLL, which I ended up copying from my Visual Studio installation (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\redist\x86\Microsoft.VC90.CRT). As according to the instructions for PyInstaller, I run: Command: Configure.py Output: I: computing EXE_dependencies I: Finding TCL/TK... I: could not find TCL/TK I: testing for Zlib... I: ... Zlib available I: Testing for ability to set icons, version resources... I: ... resource update available I: Testing for Unicode support... I: ... Unicode available I: testing for UPX... Command: Makespec.py -F guitest.py Output: wrote C:\Code\PromoUSB\guitest.spec now run Build.py to build the executable Then there's the final command. Command: Build.py guitest.spec Output: checking Analysis building Analysis because out0.toc non existent running Analysis out0.toc Analyzing: C:\Python26\pyinstaller-1.3\support\_mountzlib.py Analyzing: C:\Python26\pyinstaller-1.3\support\useUnicode.py Analyzing: guitest.py Warnings written to C:\Code\PromoUSB\warnguitest.txt checking PYZ rebuilding out1.toc because out1.pyz is missing building PYZ out1.toc checking PKG rebuilding out3.toc because out3.pkg is missing building PKG out3.pkg checking ELFEXE rebuilding out2.toc because guitest.exe missing building ELFEXE out2.toc I get the resulting 'guitest.exe' file, but upon execution, it "simply crashes"... and there is no debug info. It's just one of those standard Windows Vista crashes. The script itself, guitest.py runs just fine by itself. It only crashes as an executable, and I'm completely lost. I don't even know what to look for, since nothing I've tried has returned any relevant results. Another file is generated as a result of the compilation process, called 'warnguitest.txt'. • NSFetchedResultsController - Delegate methods crashing under iPhone OS 3.0, but NOT UNDER 3.1

    - by Scott Langendyk
Hey guys, so I've got my NSFetchedResultsController working fine under the 3.1 SDK, however I start getting some weird errors, specifically in the delegate methods when I try it under 3.0. I've determined that this is related to the NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate methods. This is what I have set up. The inEditingMode stuff has to do with the way I've implemented adding another static section to the table. - (void)controllerWillChangeContent:(NSFetchedResultsController*)controller { [self.tableView beginUpdates]; } - (void)controller:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller didChangeSection:(id <NSFetchedResultsSectionInfo>)sectionInfo atIndex:(NSUInteger)sectionIndex forChangeType:(NSFetchedResultsChangeType)type{ NSIndexSet *sectionSet = [NSIndexSet indexSetWithIndex:sectionIndex]; if(self.inEditingMode){ sectionSet = [NSIndexSet indexSetWithIndex:sectionIndex + 1]; } switch (type) { case NSFetchedResultsChangeInsert: [self.tableView insertSections:sectionSet withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; break; case NSFetchedResultsChangeDelete: [self.tableView deleteSections:sectionSet withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; break; default: [self.tableView reloadData]; break; } } - (void)controller:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller didChangeObject:(id)anObject atIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath forChangeType:(NSFetchedResultsChangeType)type newIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)newIndexPath{ NSIndexPath *relativeIndexPath = indexPath; NSIndexPath *relativeNewIndexPath = newIndexPath; if(self.inEditingMode){ relativeIndexPath = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:indexPath.row inSection:indexPath.section + 1]; relativeNewIndexPath = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:newIndexPath.row inSection:newIndexPath.section + 1]; } switch(type) { case NSFetchedResultsChangeInsert: [self.tableView insertRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:relativeNewIndexPath] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; break; case NSFetchedResultsChangeDelete: [self.tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:relativeIndexPath] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; break; default: [self.tableView reloadData]; break; } } -(void)controllerDidChangeContent:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller{ [self.tableView endUpdates]; } When I add an entity to the managed object context, I get the following error: Serious application error. Exception was caught during Core Data change processing: *** -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (1) beyond bounds (1) with userInfo (null) I put a breakpoint on objc_exception_throw, and the crash seems to be occuring inside of controllerDidChangeContent. If I comment out all of the self.tableView methods, and put a single [self.tableView reloadData] inside of controllerDidChangeContent, everything works as expected. Anybody have any idea as to why this is happening?

  • NSNumberFormatter crashing iPhone SDK 4.0b2

    - by Ward
Hey there, I've got an app that's been in the app store for a while and functions perfectly on OS 3.1 - 3.13. However, when tested on 4.0b2 I noticed that it crashes in the same place every time, but only on the device, never on the simulator. I'm using a 3GS to test. On loadView I initialize an NSNumberFormatter object which is declared and retained in the interface so I have access to it everywhere. In my method I call it several times to convert string values into nsnumbers to be stored in a mutable dictionary. Here's an example: [myDictionary setObject:[myStyleFormatter numberFromString:@"1"] forKey:@"hours"]; [myDictionary setObject:[myStyleFormatter numberFromString:@"30"] forKey:@"minutes"]; [myDictionary setObject:[myStyleFormatter numberFromString:@"10"] forKey:@"seconds"]; For some reason it crashes as soon as it tries to set hours. The error is "attempt to insert nil value (key: hours)" Have I been doing something wrong all along? Has the api changed for 4.0b2? Thanks, Howie

  • NSLog crashing app using 3.1.3 software

    - by Matt Facer
Hi guys - the other day I had a bug submitted for my app from a user on an ipod touch with 3.1.3 software. It was a strange bug as no-one else has submitted it yet. Long story short, it appears that anywhere where I have NSLog() in code it will actually crash the app. I tried stripping out ALL the code other than NSLog(@"hello") and running on my iphone (3.1.3) it indeed did crash. I removed the NSLog and it worked. Has anyone else had this problem?? PS) I am now aware that we shouldn't release an app with NSLog still in use... so they've all gone now!

  • Apache complex regex crashing with 500 error

    - by digitalspaghetti
I have been working with an existing website out company has running until I finish developing the new site. I've been asked to add some additional functionality to booking pages that will automatically set a booking button based on passed parameters. The existing working regex is as follows: RewriteRule ^.+-(\d+)\.accommodation$ property_detail.php?id=$1 Which works fine with the url like below and passes through the URL. this-is-the-property-name.1234.accomodation However as a quick shiv, I am trying to do the following: this-is-the-property-name.1234.accomodation?override=true&start_date=2010-05-14&numbernights=2&sleeps=10&price=1012 The regex I came up with for this was: RewriteRule ^.+-(\d+)\.accommodation\?override=(\w+)&start_date=(19|20)[0-9]{2}[- /.](0[1-9]|1[012])[- /.](0[1-9]|[12][0-9]|3[01])&numbernights=(\d+)&sleeps=(\d+)&price=(\d+)$ property_detail.php?id=$1&override=$2&start_date=$3-$4-$5&numbernights=$6&sleeps=$7&price=$8 The regex is passing as valid in RegexBuddy - however it keeps causing a 500 error on the server. Can anyone help me get my head around this one?

  • RubyQt Crashing on QTableWidget

    - by gja
I'm getting some weirdness with QtRuby when using a TableWidget. The table widget loads, but when you click on the elements in the row, the app segfaults and crashes. require 'Qt4' class SimpleModel < Qt::AbstractTableModel def rowCount(parent) return 1 end def columnCount(parent) return 1 end def data(index, role=Qt::DisplayRole) return Qt::Variant.new("Really Long String") if index.row == 0 and index.column == 0 and role == Qt::DisplayRole return Qt::Variant.new end end Qt::Application.new(ARGV) do Qt::TableWidget.new(1, 1) do set_model SimpleModel.new show end exec end The backtrace seems to imply that it is bombing in mousePressEvent #6 0x01624643 in QAbstractItemView::pressed(QModelIndex const&) () from /usr/lib/libQtGui.so.4 #7 0x016306f5 in QAbstractItemView::mousePressEvent(QMouseEvent*) () from /usr/lib/libQtGui.so.4 If I override mousePressEvent and mouseMoveEvent, these kinds of crashes no longer happen. Am I doing something wrong over here, or can I chalk this up as a bug in QtRuby? I'm on fedora11, with the following packages installed: QtRuby-4.4.0-1.fc11.i586 ruby-1.8.6.369-1.fc11.i586 These crashes also happen when running the script on Windows.

I cd to my application directory, run ruby script/server to start the server running, and point my browser to localhost:3000. I get the page I expect, and am able to click a few links to other pages (all of them are static). The problem starts when I load the 4th page or so. My server crashes, with this message: Processing HomeController#index (for 127.0.0.1 at 2012-06-23 15:48:40) [GET] Rendering template within layouts/application Rendering home/index Completed in 11ms (View: 9, DB: 1) | 200 OK [http://localhost/index] C:/rails/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.11/lib/active_support/memoizable.rb:46: [BUG] Segmentation fault ruby 1.8.7 (2012-02-08 patchlevel 358) [i386-mingw32] This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. I've uninstalled this gem and reinstalled it, which didn't help. It doesn't seem to be the gem though, because the segmentation fault sometimes occurs in C:/rails/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/mongrel-1.1.2-x86-mswin32/lib/mongrel.rb:114 or C:/rails/ruby/lib/ruby/1.8/benchmark.rb:306 Versions: >ruby -v ruby 1.8.7 (2012-02-08 patchlevel 358) [i386-mingw32] >rails -v Rails 2.3.11 I'd like to get this fixed so while I'm developing I don't have to keep restarting my server. Any suggestions?

I load the app on my nexus 7 and it just crashes "Unfortunately MyMapView has stopped working" on launch.This is the manifest: ` <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="17" android:targetSdkVersion="17" /> <uses-feature android:glEsVersion="0x00020000" android:required="true"/> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE"/> <uses-permission android:name="com.google.android.providers.gsf.permission.READ_GSERVICES"/> <application android:allowBackup="true" android:icon="@drawable/ic_launcher" android:label="@string/app_name" android:theme="@style/AppTheme" > <uses-library android:name="com.google.android.maps" /> <activity android:name="com.macmozart.mymapview.MainActivity" android:label="@string/app_name" > <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> <meta-data android:name="com.google.android.maps.v2.API_KEY" android:value="AIzaSyBZ1Bt7rjB863Jy-B05zls6k8XZsBGQ6-4" /> </application> ` Followed by my main layout: <fragment android:id="@+id/map" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" class="com.google.android.gms.maps.MapFragment" /> and finally my java class: package com.macmozart.mymapview; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import com.google.android.gms.maps.CameraUpdateFactory; import com.google.android.gms.maps.GoogleMap; import com.google.android.gms.maps.MapFragment; import com.google.android.gms.maps.model.BitmapDescriptorFactory; import com.google.android.gms.maps.model.LatLng; import com.google.android.gms.maps.model.Marker; import com.google.android.gms.maps.model.MarkerOptions; import com.google.android.maps.*; public class MainActivity extends Activity { static final LatLng HAMBURG = new LatLng(53.558, 9.927); static final LatLng KIEL = new LatLng(53.551, 9.993); private GoogleMap map; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_main); map = ((MapFragment) getFragmentManager().findFragmentById(R.id.map)) .getMap(); if (map != null) { Marker hamburg = map.addMarker(new MarkerOptions() .position(HAMBURG).title("Hamburg")); Marker kiel = map.addMarker(new MarkerOptions() .position(KIEL) .title("Kiel") .snippet("Kiel is cool") .icon(BitmapDescriptorFactory .fromResource(R.drawable.ic_launcher))); map.moveCamera(CameraUpdateFactory.newLatLngZoom(HAMBURG, 15)); // Zoom in, animating the camera. map.animateCamera(CameraUpdateFactory.zoomTo(10), 2000, null); } } } Any idea what im doing wrong I really need this to work
