Hiring a Junior Developer, What should I ask?

We are currently hiring a junior developer to help me out, as I have more projects than I can currently manage. I have never hired anyone who wasn't a friend or at least an acquaintance. I have a phone interview with the only applicant that actually stood out to me (on paper), but I have never done this before. Our projects are all high scalability, data intensive web applications that process millions of transactions an hour, across multiple servers and clients. To be language/stack specific, we use ASP.Net MVC2, WebForms and C# 4, MSSQL 2008 R2, all running atop Windows Server 2008 R2 What should I ask him? How should I structure the phone call?

Ask for Budget vs. Give Proposal

Should I ask a prospect what his budget is or just give out a price? He need: "a new web site, with nice effects but at same time very simple & funtional for my costumers & guests" It's a 5 page website for mp3 guided tour with 2-3 paragraphs of text on each page and 5-8 images on total + logo that needs redesign. It's my first 'over distance' job. (I don't know the guy personally and have never met him) Please let me know what is a good practice and how to proceed. P.S. Also what is an average price for Simple 5 page Flash website with some custom graphics. Thanks

I'm adding business listings to an existing website of which Google has sort of been referencing well but my Meta tags have a lot to be desired! Due to other work commitments I have kind of neglected the site but now think I should put the proper time and effort into getting it just right as it does earn me money. I am a developer so I have all the necessary skills to build the site, it's almost done!. Now I'm just a little worried that I could do something wrong and loose the rapport I've built up with Google in the past or be ban. pc dont work at full speed

motherboard gigabyte GA-8I915PL-G, pentium 4 630 3,0 ghz dont run at default speed ; fsb 800, cpu host 200, cpu 3000 mhz but run some time at fsb 533 cpu host 133 cpu 2025 mhz some time at fsb 75 and cpu 1128 mhz only. when i set in easy tune default parametrs pc dont work. some time i clear cmos and i can set in bios default parametrs, some time clearing cmos dont help, bios i update. how i can fix this problem? sorry about my bad english.

Where to ask a question about startups?

I've got some questions about how to better run my web application development business, which has only been running for a little more than two years. It's still in its early phases, as I consider the first five years the 'early years'. Being inexperienced with business in general, I always have a lot of questions as to whether I am making the right decisions (for example, I often worry about my hiring practices, and I often worry that I may have priced new products wrongly). Is there a good site on the Stack Exchange to ask questions about things like this (for example, this site, the Project Management site, the Salesforce site, or perhaps the Personal Finance site)? I'm combing through questions and answers on each of these sites, now, and I can see questions that mimic my own. Nothing precisely the same, but things that are similar on all sites. Apart from just reading through previously asked questions, what is a good way to get a sense of whether or not my question fits on a site in the exchange? If you recommend going out of the exchange, please also let me know.

I am wondering which is the best way to go with java code. I need to create a class with simple prompts for input.. I have tried using both classes and cannot work out the particular benefits for each. hi all , i am trying to install ununtu 10.04 lts on my laptop , first i installed it inside windows and when it boot for first time i got the error message "dont find root file system , try partition table to fix the problem " . and when i want to install it on a single partition (normally) and when it told me to chose a partition i dont find any partition (entire disk) . i have 2 primary partitions and 3 logical partitions . please help me thanks .

Earlier this week we asked you to share your tricks and techniques for keeping files synced between your different devices. Now we’re back to highlight how you do it. Overwhelmingly, you do it with Dropbox. Despite the proliferation of different platforms there has been little inroads made into any sort of universal syncing. We heard from quite a few different readers and by far the most popular option was to use Dropbox to ensure that you could get the music and documents you wanted whether you were on your desktop, laptop, netbook, iPhone, or Android device. In the same breath however, nearly all of your added on an additional service. The real message, it would seem, is that there simply isn’t a service good enough to meet all of the needs most users have, all of the time. Responses to this week’s Ask the Reader question show that just because you’re away from home doesn’t mean you have to give up the security and privacy that your home network provides. Earlier this week we asked you to share you browsing away from home security tips and tricks and obliged. JC offered one of the more entertaining tales of away-from-home browsing: Recently a bunch of us stayed at a high end resort down in Mexico. Internet was offered as a pay per device service at about $80/week/device. Considering we had about 12 wifi devices there among us(a few geeks), I decided to plan ahead. I setup a WRT54G as a WiFi client with a vpn back to my house and NAT. Setup a second one as a basic wireless access point with password and plugged it into the first. Onsite we setup the devices and connected to the wireless with one paid account(tied to the MAC address). Everyone connected to the other device for wireless access and it was all tunnelled through my home network with encryption.
