  • How SQLite on Android handles long stings?

    - by Levara
    Hi! I'm wondering how Android's implementation of SQLite handles long Strings. Reading from online documentation on sqlite, it said that strings in sqlite are limited to 1 million characters. My strings are definitely smaller. I'm creating a simple RSS application, and after parsing a html document, and extracting text, I'm having problem saving it to a database. I have 2 tables in database, feeds and articles. RSS feeds are correctly saved and retrieved from feeds table, but when saving to the articles table, logcat is saying that it cannot save extracted text to it's column. I don't know if other columns are making problems too, no mention of them in logcat. I'm wondering, since text is from an article on web, are signs like (",',;) creating problems? Is Android automaticaly escaping them, or I have to do that. I'm using a technique for inserting similar to one in notepad tutorial: public long insertArticle(long feedid, String title, String link, String description, String h1, String h2, String h3, String p, String image, long date) { ContentValues initialValues = new ContentValues(); initialValues.put(KEY_FEEDID, feedid); initialValues.put(KEY_TITLE, title); initialValues.put(KEY_LINK, link); initialValues.put(KEY_DESCRIPTION, description ); initialValues.put(KEY_H1, h1 ); initialValues.put(KEY_H2, h2); initialValues.put(KEY_H3, h3); initialValues.put(KEY_P, p); initialValues.put(KEY_IMAGE, image); initialValues.put(KEY_DATE, date); return mDb.insert(DATABASE_TABLE_ARTICLES,null, initialValues); } Column P is for extracted text, h1, h2 and h3 are for headers from a page. Logcat reports only column p to be the problem. The table is created with following statement: private static final String DATABASE_CREATE_ARTICLES = "create table articles( _id integer primary key autoincrement, feedid integer, title text, link text not null, description text," + "h1 text, h2 text, h3 text, p text, image text, date integer);"; Thanks!

    I've set up django-filebrowser in my app without any bugs, I already had django-tinymce set up and it loads the editor in the admin forms. I now want to use django-filebrowser with django-tinymce, but I keep getting a weird javascript error when I click on "Image URL" in the Image popup: r is undefined the error is js/tiny_mce/tiny_mce.js My settings.py file has the following configuration: TINYMCE_JS_URL=MEDIA_URL + 'js/tiny_mce/tiny_mce.js' TINYMCE_DEFAULT_CONFIG = { 'mode': "textareas", 'theme': "advanced", 'language': "en", 'skin': "o2k7", 'dialog_type': "modal", 'object_resizing': True, 'cleanup_on_startup': True, 'forced_root_block': "p", 'remove_trailing_nbsp': True, 'theme_advanced_toolbar_location': "top", 'theme_advanced_toolbar_align': "left", 'theme_advanced_statusbar_location': "none", 'theme_advanced_buttons1': "formatselect,styleselect,bold,italic,underline,bullist,numlist,undo,redo,link,unlink,image,code,template,visualchars,fullscreen,pasteword,media,search,replace,charmap", 'theme_advanced_buttons2': "", 'theme_advanced_buttons3': "", 'theme_advanced_path': False, 'theme_advanced_blockformats': "p,h2,h3,h4,div,code,pre", 'width': '700', 'height': '300', 'plugins': "advimage,advlink,fullscreen,visualchars,paste,media,template,searchreplace", 'advimage_update_dimensions_onchange': True, 'file_browser_callback': "CustomFileBrowser", 'relative_urls': False, 'valid_elements' : "" + "-p," + "a[href|target=_blank|class]," + "-strong/-b," + "-em/-i," + "-u," + "-ol," + "-ul," + "-li," + "br," + "img[class|src|alt=|width|height]," + "-h2,-h3,-h4," + "-pre," + "-code," + "-div", 'extended_valid_elements': "" + "a[name|class|href|target|title|onclick]," + "img[class|src|border=0|alt|title|hspace|vspace|width|height|align|onmouseover|onmouseout|name]," + "br[clearfix]," + "-p[class<clearfix?summary?code]," + "h2[class<clearfix],h3[class<clearfix],h4[class<clearfix]," + "ul[class<clearfix],ol[class<clearfix]," + "div[class]," } TINYMCE_FILEBROWSER = False TINYMCE_COMPRESSOR = False i've tried switching back to older versions of tinyMCE Javascript but nothing seems to work.   • Get to know what HTML-button is clicked with PHP, no Name of value available

    - by koko
    I have a wizard with 4 steps and in one of the steps, you can add items. By default, there are 3 time 5 empty input-fields listed. When you click a button, there have to be added some more. The 3 times 5 fields are added by a loop. How can I determine where I have to add some fields (in the first 5 field of the second or the third). I can't use another name for every button, because sometimes there can be more then 3 groups of 5 fields. In my code (PHP), I use the name of the button to know what happened in the form, so the name can't be different for the button in every group ... Further, the whole step is 1 form, so the post can't go to another script ... The value of the button has to be the same for every group. I've been thinking on possible solutions and these came up: On click a javascript adds a value to the post (in a hidden field?) But is this posted with the form? Could it be possible to get the ID of the clicked button? This might be different :-) I need a refresh after the click, so pure javascript isn't a solution either ... It is a very specific question, but I hope someone can give me some direction. Here is the code I'm talking about: <h3><label class="list_list:table_title">Eten</label></h3> <table id="eten"> <thead> <tr> <th>Naam item</th> <th>Aantal</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td • Generate a table of contents from HTML with Python

    - by Oli
    I'm trying to generate a table of contents from a block of HTML (not a complete file - just content) based on its <h2> and <h3> tags. My plan so far was to: Extract a list of headers using beautifulsoup Use a regex on the content to place anchor links before/inside the header tags (so the user can click on the table of contents) -- There might be a method for replacing inside beautifulsoup? Output a nested list of links to the headers in a predefined spot. It sounds easy when I say it like that, but it's proving to be a bit of a pain in the rear. Is there something out there that does all this for me in one go so I don't waste the next couple of hours reinventing the wheel? A example: <p>This is an introduction</p> <h2>This is a sub-header</h2> <p>...</p> <h3>This is a sub-sub-header</h3> <p>...</p> <h2>This is a sub-header</h2> <p>...</p>

  • Quick question. Html.ActionLink and creating Internal Links ( #home, #about, etc. )

    - by Gary '-'
    Hi there, quick question... How can I best create internal links? This is the markup I want to achieve: <h3>Title</h3> <ul> <li><a href="#prod1">Product 1</li> <li><a href="#prod2">Product 2</li> <li><a href="#prod3">Product 3</li> ... <li><a href="#prod100">Product 100</li> </ul> <div id="prod1"> <!-- content here --> </div> Using MVC 2 I'm using, what's the best Html Helper to use? <h3><%= Html.Encode(Model.Title) %> <ul> <% foreach ( var item in Model.Categories ) {%> <li><%= Html.RouteLink( item.Description, ???? ) %></li> <%} %> </ul> What's the best way to get a url to an internal link? String.Format a link from scratch? There's gotta be a better way.

  • highlight the text of the DOM range element,

    - by ganapati hegde
    I select some text on the html page(opened in firefox) using mouse,and using javascript functions, i create/get the rangeobject corresponding to the selected text. userSelection =window.getSelection(); var rangeObject = getRangeObject(userSelection); Now i want to highlight all the text which comes under the rangeobject.I am doing it like this, var span = document.createElement("span"); rangeObject.surroundContents(span); span.style.backgroundColor = "yellow"; Well,this works fine, only when the rangeobject(startpoint and endpoint) lies in the same textnode,then it highlights the corresponding text.Ex <p>In this case,the text selected will be highlighted properly, because the selected text lies under a single textnode</p> But if the rangeobject covers more than one textnode, then it is not working properlay, It highlights only the texts which lie in the first textnode,Ex <p><h3>In this case</h3>, only the text inside the header(h3) will be highlighted, not any text outside the header</p> Any idea how can i make, all the texts which comes under rangeobject,highlighted,independent of whether range lies in a single node or multiple node? Thanks....

  • Positioning divs

    - by Thomas
    Hi all, I'm working with the Jquery accordion. So my code goes like this: <h3><a href="#">Test </a></h3> <div class="accordion" style="background-color:yellow;"> <div class="test_1"> my first dynamic content div </div> <div class="test_2"> my second dynamic content div </div> </div> So you see the H3 that's the 'accordian', if i click on that the div accordion opens with inside 2 seperate divs. That all works but the positioning of my 2 divs inside the accordion div fails. I should like to get them UNDER eachother, but both divs got generated dynamically what means that i don't know the size of the first div (test_1) so i can't position on pixels. I already tried with some br tags etc but nothing seems to work. Is there a way to do this in css maybe with float or something or should it be done inside the html ? ANy other ideas? Regards, T

  • jQuery - if div height over 'x', show only content within the visible div, add an image and scroll u

    - by Nicki
    Apologies, I'm very new to jQuery. I am trying to apply jQuery to a div which could contain any number of p tags of varying length or none at all. Depending on the assembled p's this div needs to maintain a height of 45px. If the p's contained therein push the div to be higher than 45px then I need to add an anchor image which users can click allowing the div to slide up and reveal the div's contents. I've browsed the plugins but can't find anything to cater for this. <div class="SummaryExtras"> <h3><span>h3 Title</span></h3> <div> <p class="Extra">text</p> <p class="Extra">text</p> <p class="Extra">text</p> <p class="Extra">text</p> <p class="Extra">text</p> </div> <div class="SummaryExtrasBottom"></div> </div>

  • Question aboud Headings For Professionals <H1>... <H9> in SEO & Browsercompatibility Differences

    - by Sam
    We all know the importance ans significance of Headings for Professional Webmasters. These were known for professional developers as <h1>Heading 1</h1> h2 ... h6. As a daring webdeveloper I lately needed more short headings for complex structured document and i thought what the hell and went ahead and used in css h1,h2,h3,h4,h5,h6{ } h7{ } h8{ } h9{ } My experiment turned out to pay back. But only in Firefox, Safari, Chrome etc, not in Internet Explorer 8. Q1. Who(&When) decided that All headings should go upto h6, and not h4 or h7? Q2. Why h7 -h9 work perfect in all major browsers, except IE8? Q3. What is the significance for Bing,Yahoo and Googld in terms of recognition or headings h1 ~ h9? obviously h1 is more important than 2, but do they differentiate between h5 and h6? or not anymore after h3?

  • Asp.net Ajax problem

    - by Vinzcent
    Hey I installed the Asp.net Ajax toolkit. In my site I use the NummericUpDown from that toolkit. Now, I want that a label changes when the NummericUpDown Textboxes changes. I try to use JavaScript for this, but I always get the following error: 'ASP.orders_aspx' does not contain a definition for 'changeAmount' and no extension method 'changeAmount' accepting a first argument of type 'ASP.orders_aspx' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) This is my code: <%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPage.master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="orders.aspx.cs" Inherits="orders" Title="the BookStore" %> <%@ Register Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" TagPrefix="ajaxToolkit" %> <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="head" runat="Server"> <script type="text/javascript"> function changeAmount() { var amount = document.getElementById("txtCount"); var total = 10 * amount.value; document.getElementById("lblPrice").value = total; } </script> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1" runat="Server"> <ajaxToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager runat="Server" EnablePartialRendering="true" ID="ScriptManager1" /> <h1 id="H1" runat="server"> Bestellen</h1> <asp:Panel ID="pnlZoeken" runat="server" Visible="true"> <asp:ObjectDataSource ID="objdsSelectedBooks" runat="server" OnSelecting="objdsSelectedBooks_Selecting" TypeName="DAL.BooksDAL"></asp:ObjectDataSource> <h3> Overzicht van het gekozen boek</h3> <asp:FormView ID="fvBestelBoek" runat="server" Width="650"> <ItemTemplate> <h3> Aantal boeken bestellen</h3> <table width="650"> <tr class="txtBox"> <td> Boek </td> <td> Prijs </td> <td> Aantal </td> <td> Korting </td> <td> Totale Prijs </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <%# Eval("TITLE") %> </td> <td> <asp:Label ID="lblPrice" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("PRICE") %>' /> </td> <td> <asp:TextBox OnTextChanged="changeAmount()" ID="txtCount" runat="server"></asp:TextBox> <ajaxToolkit:NumericUpDownExtender ID="NumericUpDownExtender1" runat="server" TargetControlID="txtCount" Width="50" Minimum="1" ServiceDownMethod="" ServiceUpMethod="" /> </td> <td> - </td> <td> <asp:Label ID="lblAmount" runat="server" /> </td> </tr> </table> </ItemTemplate> </asp:FormView> <asp:Button ID="btnBestel" runat="server" CssClass="btn" Text="Bestel" OnClick="btnBestel_Click1" /> <asp:Button ID="btnReChoose" runat="server" CssClass="btnDelete" Text="Kies een ander boek" OnClick="btnRechoose_Click" /> </asp:Panel> </asp:Content> Does anyone know the answer?   • translating play in HTML to python

    - by aharon
    So, I'd like to represent one of Shakespeare's plays, Hamlet, into the following objects (maybe this isn't the best representation, if so please tell me): class Play(): acts = [] ... def add_act(self, act): acts.append(act) class Act(): scenes = [] ... def add_scene(self, scene): scenes.append(scene) class Scene(): elems = [] def __init__(self, title, setting=""): ... def add_elem(self, elem): elems.append(elem) ... class StageDirection(): # elem def __init__(self, text): ... class Line(): # elem def __init__(self, id, text, character = None): ... # A None character represents a continuation from the previous line # id could be, for example, 1.1.1 There are other methods, of course, for printing and such in each of the classes. The question is, how do I get a structure based on these classes (or something like them) from HTML 4 code that looks like this: <H3>ACT I</h3> <h3>SCENE I. Elsinore. A platform before the castle.</h3> <p><blockquote> <i>FRANCISCO at his post. Enter to him BERNARDO</i> </blockquote> <A NAME=speech1><b>BERNARDO</b></a> <blockquote> <A NAME=1.1.1>Who's there?</A><br> </blockquote> <A NAME=speech2><b>FRANCISCO</b></a> <blockquote> <A NAME=1.1.2>Nay, answer me: stand, and unfold yourself.</A><br> </blockquote> <A NAME=speech3><b>BERNARDO</b></a> <blockquote> <A NAME=1.1.3>Long live the king!</A><br> </blockquote> <A NAME=speech4><b>FRANCISCO</b></a> <blockquote> <A NAME=1.1.4>Bernardo?</A><br> </blockquote> <A NAME=speech5><b>BERNARDO</b></a> <blockquote> <A NAME=1.1.5>He.</A><br> </blockquote> <!-- for more, see the source of shakespeare.mit.edu/hamlet/full.html --> translating that into something like this: play = Play() actI = Act() sceneI = Scene("Scene I", "Elsinore. A platform before the castle.") sceneI.add_elem(StageDirection("Francisco at his post. Enter to him Bernardo.")) sceneI.add_elem(Line("Bernardo", "Who's there?")) ... Of course, I don't expect all the code—but what libraries and, when there aren't libraries, logic should I use? Thanks. (This is for a future opensource project and me learning Python for fun—not homework.)

  • Facebook PHP SDK - will not logout properly

    - by garethdn
    I've been searching for hours for the solution to this problem but can't find one that works for me. When i click "Logout" on my site the user information is still visible and the logout button is still displayed. Here is the code: require 'facebook-php-sdk/src/facebook.php'; $facebook = new Facebook(array( 'appId' => 'xxxx', 'secret' => 'xxxx', )); // Get User ID $user = $facebook->getUser(); var_dump($user); if ($user) { try { // Proceed knowing you have a logged in user who's authenticated. $user_profile = $facebook->api('/me'); } catch (FacebookApiException $e) { error_log($e); $user = null; } } // Login or logout url will be needed depending on current user state. if ($_GET['logout'] == "yes") { setcookie('fbs_'.$facebook->getAppId(), '', time()-100, '/', 'http://gno.....ment/index.php'); session_destroy(); header("Location: ".$_SERVER['PHP_SELF'].""); } if ($user_profile) { $logoutUrl = $facebook->getLogoutUrl; } else { $loginUrl = $facebook->getLoginUrl(array('scope' => 'email,publish_stream,user_status', 'canvas' => 1, 'fbconnect' => 0, 'redirect_uri' => 'http://gno.....ment/index.php')); } ..... ..... <?php if ($user): ?> <h3>You</h3> <img src="https://graph.facebook.com/<?php echo $user; ?>/picture"> <h3>Your User Object (/me)</h3> <pre><?php print_r($user_profile); ?></pre> <?php else: ?> <strong><em>You are not Connected.</em></strong> <?php endif ?> <?php if ($user): ?> <a href="<?php echo $logoutUrl; ?>">Logout of FB</a> <?php else: ?> <div> Login using OAuth 2.0 handled by the PHP SDK: <a href="<?php echo $loginUrl; ?>">Login with Facebook</a> </div> <?php endif ?> It seems that if ($_GET['logout'] == "yes") might be the answer for me but i can't get it working. I don't know where logout is gotten from or where it is defined? This seems to be a common issue but i can't figure it out. I'd really appreciate some help.

  • Jquery Close/Open Multiple Toggles

    - by Pedro
    Hi, I have the toggle in my menu Working successfully for the two links that I have within it. Because the top link once toggled covers the other link, there is no problem. But since the link beneath it leaves the top link exposed, a user could click that and now have two toggled items open and pretty much stacked on top of each other. Is there a way for me to check if the other toggled item is open and if so, close it? Thanks! <div class="parents-toggle"> <a href="#" id="customize-toggle">Customize</a><br/> <div class="menu-toggle hidden" id="customize-menu"> <div class="menu-toggle-one"> <h3>Background</h3> <ul> <li><a href="#">Dark Wood</a></li> <li><a href="#">Wallpaper</a></li> <li><a href="#">Bricks</a></li> <li><a href="#">Planks</a></li> <li><a href="#">Default</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="menu-toggle-two"> <h3>Layout</h3> <ul> <li><a href="#">Grid</a></li> <li><a href="#">List</a></li> <li><a href="#">Full</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> <a href="/submit/">Submit video</a><br/> <div class="parents-toggle"> <a href="#" id="channels-toggle">Channels</a> <div class="menu-toggle hidden" id="channels-menu"> <div class="menu-toggle-one"> <ul> <li><a href="#">Automotive</a></li> <li><a href="#">Comedy</a></li> <li><a href="#">Movies</a></li> <li><a href="#">Weather</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="menu-toggle-two"> <ul> <li><a href="#">Business</a></li> <li><a href="#">Commercials</a></li> <li><a href="#">Music</a></li> <li><a href="#">Technology</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> </div> <script> $("#customize-toggle").click(function () { $("#customize-menu").toggle(); }); $("#channels-toggle").click(function () { $("#channels-menu").toggle(); }); </script>

  • fetching rss feed, mktime problem (wordpress plugin)

    - by krike
    sorry for the weird question but actually I'm not sure how to ask this. the code works fine but the problem is the following. I fetch items from feeds and compare them to a specific date which is stored into the database as an option. I see if the fetched item is more recent or not and if it is I create a new pending post. however there is one item that just keeps being added because there is something wrong with the date and I don't understand what is wrong because all other items (before and after) are blocked once they are being added as post (so when they are not recent anymore compared with the date I store as an option) I then echo'ed that line and this is the result: yes it exist! 27-03-2010-04-03 Free Exclusive Vector Icon Pack: Web User Interface 29-01-2010-03-01 if(1330732800 < 1335830400) 01 05 2012 the first line is to see if the option still exist and what data was stored in it the second is the actual items that's causing all the problem, it's initial date is less recent then the date but still passes as more recent.... this is the code I use, any help would be great: if(!get_option('feed_last_date')): echo "nope doesn't exist, but were creating one"; $time = time()-60*60*24*30*3; add_option("feed_last_date", date('d-m-Y-h-m', $time)); else: echo "yes it exist! ".get_option('feed_last_date'); endif; //Create new instance of simple pie and pass in feed link $feed = new SimplePie($feeds); //Call function handle_content_type() $feed->handle_content_type(); $last_date = explode("-", get_option('feed_last_date')); $day = $last_date[0]; $month = $last_date[1]; $year = $last_date[2]; $hour = $last_date[3]; $minute = $last_date[4]; $last_date = mktime(0,0,0, $day, $month, $year); //4 - Loop through received items foreach($feed->get_items(0, 500) as $item) : $feed_date = explode("-", $item->get_date('d-m-Y-h-m')); $day = $feed_date[0]; $month = $feed_date[1]; $year = $feed_date[2]; $hour = $feed_date[3]; $minute = $feed_date[4]; $feed_date = mktime(0,0,0,$day, $month, $year); if($last_date < $feed_date): echo $item->get_title()." • How to allow multiple filters to be selected - pagination?

    - by NewSOuser
    Hey, I am still trying to allow multiple filters to be selected for my pagination script but not sure how to do it being very new to php and programing in general. So in my pagination, when a user clicks the 'marketing' button(link) it queries the database just for the category that = marketing. The same goes for the other 2 filter buttons as seen in the script below. (automotive, sports). The problem is, I want to be able to select multiple filters like only marketing and auomotive or automotive and sports, for example if I click the marketing filter and then the automotive, it would display the categories that equal marketing, and automotive. I have no idea how to accomplish this, so I have come to the experts to help me out. This is the script I am working on: <h3>Filter results by:</h3> <a href='pagi_test.php?category=marketing'>marketing</a> <a href='pagi_test.php?category=automotive'>automotive</a> <a href='pagi_test.php?category=sports'>sports</a> <br /> <h3>Results:</h3> <?php //connecting to the database $error = "Could not connect to the database"; mysql_connect('localhost','root','root') or die($error); mysql_select_db('ajax_demo') or die($error); //max displayed per page $per_page = 3; //get start variable $start = $_GET['start']; $category = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['category']); //count records $record_count = mysql_num_rows(mysql_query("SELECT * FROM explore WHERE category='$category'")); //count max pages $max_pages = $record_count / $per_page; //may come out as decimal if (!$start) $start = 0; //display data $get = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM explore WHERE category='$category' LIMIT $start, $per_page"); ?> <table width="800px"> <?php while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($get)) { // get data $id = $row['id']; $site_name = $row['site_name']; $site_description = $row['site_description']; ?> <tr> <td><?php echo $id; ?></td> <td><?php echo $site_name; ?></td> <td><?php echo $site_description; ?></td> </tr> <?php } //setup prev and next variables $prev = $start - $per_page; $next = $start + $per_page; //show prev button if (!($start<=0)) echo "<a href='pagi_test.php?category=$category&start=$prev'>Prev</a> "; //show page numbers //set variable for first page $i=1; for ($x=0;$x<$record_count;$x=$x+$per_page) { if ($start!=$x) echo " <a href='pagi_test.php?category=$category&start=$x'>$i</a> "; else echo " <a href='pagi_test.php?category=$category&start=$x'><b>$i</b></a> "; $i++; } //show next button if (!($start>=$record_count-$per_page)) echo " <a href='pagi_test.php?category=$category&start=$next'>Next</a>"; ?> Any help on this would be great. Thank you. -- EDIT -- If anyone has a better method of doing a pagination system with multiple filters than the one above, please let me know.

  • Javascript parent and child window functions

    - by Mike Thornley
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>Lab 9-3</TITLE> <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> <!-- function myFunction(){ myWin = open("","","width=200,height=200"); with(myWin.document){ open(); write("<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>Child Window</TITLE>"); write("<SCRIPT>function myTest(){"); write("alert('This function is defined in the child window "); write("and is called from the parent window.'); this.focus();}"); write("</SCRIPT></HEAD><BODY><H3>Child Window</H3><HR>"); write("<FORM><INPUT TYPE='button' VALUE='parent window function' "); // Use opener property write("onClick='opener.winFunction();'>"); write("<P><INPUT TYPE='button' VALUE='close window' "); write("onClick='window.close();'>"); write("</FORM></BODY></HTML>"); close(); } } function winFunction(){ alert("This function is defined in the parent window\n" + "and is called from the child window."); myWin.focus(); } //--> </SCRIPT> </HEAD> <BODY> <H3>CIW Web Languages</H3> <HR> <FORM NAME="myForm"> <INPUT TYPE="button" VALUE="open new window" onClick="myFunction();"> <!-- Invoke child window function --> <input type="button" value="Click to open child window" onclick="javascript:void(myWin.myTest());"/> </FORM> <P> </BODY> </HTML> To explain further what my initial query was, the code above, should open the child window (myWin) with the second button, the 'Open child window' button without the need to open the window with the first button or do anything else. It should simply call the myWin.myTest()function The child window will open when the second button is pressed but needs to have the child window open first (first button push) before it'll work. This is not the intended purpose, the 'Open child window' button should work without anything else needing to be done. For some reason the parent window isn't communicating with the myWin window and myTest fucntion. It's not homework, it's part of a certification course lab and is coded in the manner I have been shown to understand as correct. DTD isn't included as the focus is the JavaScript. I code correctly with regards to that and other W3C requirements.

  • Accordion "growing out" from its container - in IE7/8

    - by Richard Knop
    I think this problem is best explained by images. This is how my accordion looks: When you click on the small plus/minus icons the slides under each chapter will expand/collapse. However when the content in the accordion grows too tall, it grows out from its container. So if I click on more plus icons the accordion will look like this (not pretty): As you can see, the container is not growing taller together with the accordion and it does not look good. This problem only occurs in IE7 and IE8. It works in Firefox and Chrome. The HTML looks like this (simplified): <div id="content"> <div class="box2 rounded-corners"> <div class="chapters"> <h3><a href="/clientarea/view/archived-course/teid/133">Obsah</a></h3> <div id="accordion"> <ul> ... // accordion content - too long ... // accordion content - too long </ul> <div class="clear">&nbsp;</div> </div> <div class="clear">&nbsp;</div> </div> <div class="training-body"> ... // content to the right of the accordion </div> </div> </div> The CSS, again siplified: html, body { height: 100%; width: 100%; overflow: auto; } #content { background: white url('/images/background_middle.png') left top repeat-x; padding: 13px; min-height: 40em; height: auto !important; height: 40em; } /* this is the div with rounded corners */ #content .box2 { background: white; padding: 0 15px 15px; border: 1px solid #C5E3F8; position: relative; } /* left sidebar 98 #content div.chapters { float: left; width: 224px; } /* orange heading "OBSAH" */ #content div.chapters h3 { color: #ff6e19; text-transform: uppercase; font-size: .9em; text-align: center; padding-bottom: .5em; margin-top: 1em; margin-bottom: 0; } #content div.chapters h3 a { color: #ff6e19; } /* accordion */ #accordion { width: 226px; border-top: 1px solid #c5e3f8; } #accordion ul { padding-left: 0; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0; margin-left: 0; } /* area to the right of the accordion */ #content div.training-body { float: left; padding-left: 0px; width: 748px; line-height: 1.3em; }

  • piecing together a jquery form mailer

    - by Joel
    Hi guys, My newbieness is shining through here...I managed to piece together a form mailer that works great, but now I need to add two more fields, and I'm at a loss as to how to do it. Over the months, I have commented out some things I didn't need, but now I'm stuck. I borrowed from this tutorial to make the original form: http://trevordavis.net/blog/tutorial/ajax-forms-with-jquery/ But then I cannibalized it to make an email signup form for a newsletter, so the fields I need are: recipient email (me-hard coded in) senders email address subject (hardcoded in) first name and city in the body of the message For my form, I have this: <div> <?php include('verify.php'); ?> <form action="index_success.php" method="post" id="sendEmail" class="email"> <h3 class="register2">Newsletter Signup:</h3> <ul class="forms email"> <li class="name"><label for="yourName">Name: </label> <input type="text" name="yourName" class="info" id="yourName" value=" " /><br> </li> <li class="city"><label for="yourCity">City: </label> <input type="text" name="yourCity" class="info" id="yourCity" value=" " /><br> </li> <li class="email"><label for="emailFrom">Email: </label> <input type="text" name="emailFrom" class="info" id="emailFrom" value="<?= $_POST['emailFrom']; ?>" /> <?php if(isset($emailFromError)) echo '<span class="error">'.$emailFromError.'</span>'; ?> </li> <li class="buttons email"> <button type="submit" id="submit">Send</button> <input type="hidden" name="submitted" id="submitted" value="true" /> </li> </ul> </form> </div> emailcontact.js: $(document).ready(function(){ $("#submit").click(function(){ $(".error").hide(); var hasError = false; var emailReg = /^([\w-\.]+@([\w-]+\.)+[\w-]{2,4})?$/; var emailFromVal = $("#emailFrom").val(); if(emailFromVal == '') { $("#emailFrom").after('<span class="error">You forgot to enter the email address to send from.</span>'); hasError = true; } else if(!emailReg.test(emailFromVal)) { $("#emailFrom").after('<span class="error">Enter a valid email address to send from.</span>'); hasError = true; } var subjectVal = $("#subject").val(); if(subjectVal == '') { $("#subject").after('<span class="error">You forgot to enter your name.</span>'); hasError = true; } var messageVal = $("#message").val(); if(messageVal == '') { $("#message").after('<span class="error">You forgot to enter your city.</span>'); hasError = true; } if(hasError == false) { $(this).hide(); $("#sendEmail li.buttons").append('<img src="/wp-content/themes/default/images/template/loading.gif" alt="Loading" id="loading" />'); $.post("/includes/sendemail.php", //emailTo: emailToVal, { emailFrom: emailFromVal, subject: subjectVal, message: messageVal }, function(data){ $("#sendEmail").slideUp("normal", function() { $("#sendEmail").before('<h3 class="register2">Success!</h3><p class="emailbox">You are on the Newsletter email list.</p>'); }); } ); } return false; }); }); sendmail.php: <?php $mailTo = $_POST['emailTo']; $mailFrom = $_POST['emailFrom']; $subject = $_POST['yourName']; $message = $_POST['yourCity']; mail('[email protected]','Rattletree Newsletter', 'Name='.$subject. ' City='.$message, "From: ".$mailFrom); ?> Thanks for any help! I'm going crosseyed trying to figure this one out.

  • How to display same type of data from XML using XSLT

    - by MKS
    Hi Guys, I am using XSLT and XML. I have got below XML. <documentCountryInformation> <countryCode>US</countryCode> <countryName>United States</countryName> <sufficientDocumentation>Conditional</sufficientDocumentation> <sectionInformation> <sectionName>Health</sectionName> <documentParagraph paragraphId="23628"> <paragraphType>Requirement</paragraphType> <paragraphText> <p> Vaccination for <strong>yellow fever</strong> Persons without valid yellow fever certification, if required, are subject to quarantine for a period up to 6 days. </p> </paragraphText> </documentParagraph> </sectionInformation> </documentCountryInformation> <documentCountryInformation> <countryCode>IN</countryCode> <countryName>India</countryName> <sufficientDocumentation>Conditional</sufficientDocumentation> <sectionInformation> <sectionName>Health</sectionName> <documentParagraph paragraphId="23648"> <paragraphType>Requirement</paragraphType> <paragraphText> <p> Vaccination for <strong>Dengue fever</strong> Persons without valid yellow fever certification, if required, are subject to quarantine for a period up to 3 days. </p> </paragraphText> </documentParagraph> </sectionInformation> </documentCountryInformation> Above is the part of full xml and you can see there are two records of same type, now I have got the <countryName> in parameters of XSLT in above example my countryName parameter will contain this type of data "United States,India", Now I want to split the parameter data and further it will check the XML having same country name and display the data according, I mean there will be loop on country name and below is desired HTML. <div class="resultsContainer" id="divTransit"> <h3>Transit - United States (US)</h3> <p> Vaccination for <strong>yellow fever</strong> Persons without valid yellow fever certification, if required, are subject to quarantine for a period up to 6 days. </p> <h3>Transit - India (IN)</h3> <p> Vaccination for <strong>Dengue fever</strong> Persons without valid yellow fever certification, if required, are subject to quarantine for a period up to 3 days. </p> </div>
