  • jQuery Ajax (beforeSend and complete) working properly on FireFox but not on IE8 and Chrome

    - by Farhan Zia
    I am using jQuery ajax version 1.4.1 in my MVC application (though the issue I am discussing was same with the old jQuery version 3.2.1) as well, to check during customer registration if the username is already registered. As the user clicks on the "Check Availibility" button, I am showing a busy image in place of the check button (actually hiding the check button and showing the image) while checking the availibility on the server and then displaying a message. It is a Sync call (async: false) and I used beforeSend: and complete: to show and hide the busy image and the check button. This thing is working well on Firefox but in IE 8 and Chrome, neither the busy image appear nor the check button hides rather the check button remained pressed as the whole thing has hanged. The available and not available messages appear correctly though. Below is the code: HTML in a User Control (ascx): (i have replaced the angular braces with square below) [div id="available"]This Username is Available [div id="not_available"]This Username is not available [input id="txtUsername" name="txtUsername" type="text" size="50" /]  [button id="check" name="check" type="button"]Check Availability[/button] [img id="busy" src="/Content/Images/busy.gif" /] On the top of this user control, I am linking an external javascript file that has the following code: $(document).ready(function() { $('img#busy').hide(); $('div#available').hide(); $('div#not_available').hide(); $("button#check").click(function() { var available = checkUsername($("input#txtUsername").val()); if (available == "1") { $("div#available").show(); $("div#not_available").hide(); } else { $("div#available").hide(); $("div#not_available").show(); } }); }); function checkUsername(username) { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/SomeController/SomeAction", data: { "id": username }, timeout: 3000, async: false, beforeSend: function() { $("button#check").hide(); $("img#busy").show(); }, complete: function() { $("button#check").show(); $("img#busy").hide(); }, cache: false, success: function(result) { return result; }, error: function(error) { $("img#busy").hide(); $("button#check").show(); alert("Some problems have occured. Please try again later: " + error); } }); }

  • Using will_paginate with AJAX live search with jQuery in Rails

    - by Mark Richman
    I am using will_paginate to successfully page through records. I am also using AJAX live search via jQuery to update my results div. No problem so far. The issue I have is when trying to paginate through those live search results. I simply get "Page is loading..." with no div update. Am I missing something fundamental? # index.html.erb <form id="searchform" accept-charset="utf-8" method="get" action="/search"> Search: <input id="search" name="search" type="text" autocomplete="off" title="Search location, company, description..." /> <%= image_tag("spinner.gif", :id => "spinner", :style =>"display: none;" ) %> </form> # JobsController#search def search if params[:search].nil? @jobs = Job.paginate :page => params[:page], :order => "created_at desc" elsif params[:search] and request.xhr? @jobs = Job.search params[:search], params[:page] end render :partial => "jobs", :layout => false, :locals => { :jobs => @jobs } end # Job#search def self.search(search, page) logger.debug "Job.paginate #{search}, #{page}" paginate :per_page => @@per_page, :page => page, :conditions => ["description LIKE ? or title LIKE ? or company LIKE ?", "%#{search}%", "%#{search}%", "%#{search}%"], :order => 'created_at DESC' end # search.js $(document).ready(function(){ $("#search").keyup(function() { $("#spinner").show(); // show the spinner var form = $(this).parents("form"); // grab the form wrapping the search bar. var url = form.attr("action"); // grab the URL from the form's action value. var formData = form.serialize(); // grab the data in the form $.get(url, formData, function(html) { // perform an AJAX get, the trailing function is what happens on successful get. $("#spinner").hide(); // hide the spinner $("#jobs").html(html); // replace the "results" div with the result of action taken }); }); });

  • PHP real time chat with ajax polling

    - by xRobot
    I need to create a chat similar to facebook chat. I am thinking to use ajax polling ( to send request every 2-3 seconds ). Is this a good approach ? Or I need to use other server side languages like erlang and server-comet ?

  • jQuery.ajax(): discard slow requests

    - by Thomas
    I've build a livesearch with the jQuery.ajax() method. On every keyup events it receives new result data from the server. The problem is, when I'm typing very fast, e.g. "foobar" and the GET request of "fooba" requires more time than the "foobar" request, the results of "fooba" are shown. To handle this with the timeout parameter is impossible, I think. Has anyone an idea how to solve this?

  • Saving elements to database with $.ajax()

    - by Justin Meltzer
    I'm trying to save dynamically created elements in my application.js file to the database. Would the code look something like this?: $.ajax({ type: "POST", data: { title: 'oembed.title', thumbnail_url: 'oembed.thumbnail_url'} }); Is there anything I'm missing? Assume that oembed.title and oembed.thubnail_url hold the values I want to save, and that title and thumbnail are the database columns.

  • Javascript not able to read data generated by ajax script

    - by user1371033
    I have a situation in which my Jquery Ajax script generates HTML table. And another script is meant to filter the table column by providing a dropdown comprising of unique values in that particular column. If i have static content in html page the filter script works fine. But is not able to read table content when it is generated via Ajax that is during runtime. Any idea what could be the reason. I also tried to align script in order. My Ajax script is here:- $(document).ready(function() { $("#getResults").click(function(){ bug = $("#bug").val(); priority = $("#priority").val(); component = $("#component").val(); fixVersion = $("#fixVersion").val(); dateType = $("#dateType").val(); fromDate = $("#dp2").val(); toDate = $("#dp3").val(); $("#query").empty(); $("tbody").empty(); $.post("getRefineSearchResultsPath", {bug:bug,priority:priority,component:component, fixVersion:fixVersion,dateType:dateType,fromDate:fromDate,toDate:toDate }, function(data) { // setting value for csv report button //clear the value attribute for button first $("#query_csv").removeAttr("value"); //setting new value to "value" attribute of the csv button $("#query_csv").attr("value", function(){ return $(data).find("query").text(); }); $("#query").append("<p class='text-success'>Query<legend></legend><small>" +$(data).find("query").text() +"</small></p>"); var count = 1; $(data).find("issue").each(function(){ var $issue = $(this); var value = "<tr>"; value += "<td>" +count +"</td>"; value += "<td>" +$issue.find('issueKey').text() +"</td>"; value += "<td>" +$issue.find('type').text() +"</td>"; value += "<td><div id='list' class='summary'>" +$issue.find('summary').text() +"</div></td>"; value += "<td><div id='list' class='mousescroll'>" +$issue.find('description').text() +"</div></td>"; value += "<td>" +$issue.find('priority').text() +"</td>"; value += "<td>" +$issue.find('component').text() +"</td>"; value += "<td>" +$issue.find('status').text() +"</td>"; value += "<td>" +$issue.find('fixVersion').text() +"</td>"; value += "<td>" +$issue.find('resolution').text() +"</td>"; value += "<td>" +$issue.find('created').text() +"</td>"; value += "<td>" +$issue.find('updated').text() +"</td>"; value += "<td>" +$issue.find('os').text() +"</td>"; value += "<td>" +$issue.find('frequency').text() +"</td>"; value += "<td>"; var number_of_attachement = $issue.find('attachment').size(); if(number_of_attachement > 0){ value += "<div id='list' class='attachment'>"; value += "<ul class='unstyled'>"; $issue.find('attachment').each(function(){ var $attachment = $(this); value += "<li>"; value += "<a href='#' onclick='document.f1.attachmentName.value='" +$attachment.find('attachmentName').text(); value += "';document.f1.issueKey.value='"+$attachment.find('attachmentissueKey').text(); value += "';document.f1.digest.value='"+$attachment.find('attachmentdigest').text(); value += "';document.f1.submit();'>"+$attachment.find('attachmentName').text(); value += "</a>"; value += "</li>"; value += "<br>"; }); value +="</ul>"; value +="</div>"; } value += "</td>"; value += "</tr>"; $("tbody").append(value); count++; }); }); }); }); And my script to filter table is here, I got this script from this link http://www.javascripttoolbox.com/lib/table/ My JSP page is here:- <html> <body> <table class="table table-bordered table-condensed table-hover example sort01 table-autosort:0 table-autofilter table-autopage:10 table-page-number:t1page table-page-count:t1pages table-filtered-rowcount:t1filtercount table-rowcount:t1allcount"> <thead > <tr> <th class="table-sortable:numeric" Style="width:3%;">No.</th> <th class="table-sortable:default" Style="width:5.5%;">Issue Key <br> </th> <th>Type</th> <th Style="text-align: center;">Summary</th> <th Style="text-align: center;">Description</th> <th class="table-filterable table-sortable:default" id ="priorityColumn" Style="width:5%">Priority</th> <th class="table-filterable table-sortable:default" >Component</th> <th class="table-filterable table-sortable:default" Style="width:5%">Status</th> <th class="table-filterable table-sortable:default">Fix Version</th> <th class="table-filterable table-sortable:default" Style="width:6%">Resolution</th> <th>Created</th> <th>Updated</th> <th>OS</th> <th>Frequency</th> <th>Attachments</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> </tbody> <tfoot> <tr> <td class="table-page:previous" style="cursor:pointer;"><img src="table/icons/previous.gif" alt="Previous"><small>Prev</small></td> <td colspan="13" style="text-align:center;">Page <span id="t1page"></span>&nbsp;of <span id="t1pages"></span></td> <td class="table-page:next" style="cursor:pointer;">Next <img src="table/icons/next.gif" alt="Previous"></td> </tr> <tr Style="background-color: #dddddd"> <td colspan="15"><span id="t1filtercount"></span>&nbsp;of <span id="t1allcount"></span>&nbsp;rows match filter(s)</td> </tr> <tr class="text-success"> <td colspan="15">Total Results : ${count}</td> </tr> </tfoot> </table> </body> </html>

  • https & ajax crawling

    - by Christoph Gassauer
    We made on our webpage https://www.1point618.com a transition to ssl and now we using nearly entirely ajax to load the content. Therefore all urls of existing pages have changed. We used the 301 redirect as recommended, also we have implemented google's specification that the webpage is still crawl-able. We thought that maybe it would last a month that we have the same ranking in google's search results, but still google's search results are much worse than before these changes. Most of the content (artist profiles) isn't indexed anymore. For example of the submitted sitemap only 3 of around 450 urls are indexed. Before almost all urls were indexed. My question is now: Does google's ajax crawling work together with ssl? (It looks like it would work, cause of the access log file.)

  • Triggering custom events in AJAX callbacks

    - by Sabrina Gelbart
    I'm pretty new to JavaScript, but one of the things that's been frustrating is that our AJAX callbacks have been getting packed with different functionality, making it difficult to keep everything separated and organized. I'm really new to programming, I have a feeling learning MVC a bit more would help me, but for now using custom events seems like it could help me keep my code a lot cleaner and prevent some problems. Here's what I'm talking about: function myAjaxFunction(){ $.post('ajax/test.html', function(data) { $(document).trigger('testDataLoaded',data); }); } function myOtherFunctionThatsDependentUponAjax(){ $(document).one('testDataLoaded', function(data){ alert (data); } } I also don't know if it's ok that I'm triggering document or not... Are there any patterns that look like this that I can read more about? What are the potential problems with this?

  • AJAX Requests & Client-Side JavaScript

    - by Sarah24
    I am new to AJAX and trying to understand a question I've been given: A HTTP request is generated by a form which contains some drop-down list. When the form is submitted, a new web page is displayed with some relevant text information (which is dependent on the list item selected). Now, the same parameters are sent to the server via an AJAX request, and the same text information is returned. Q. What tasks would the client-side JavaScript have to do to ensure a valid request was constructed and sent? Any useful links or quick explanations greatly appreciated.

  • Avoid Ajax loaded content for search engine bots

    - by Majiy
    A website I run has a lot of content that is being loaded using Ajax. The reason for using Ajax is that the content generation takes some time (a few seconds), because it loads data from other websites using their respective APIs. My concern is, that search engine bots will not see any useful content. The solution I've been thinking about would be to serve search engine bots differently, so that the content will be displayed directly for them. Technically, this would not be a big problem. My question is: Will search engines (read: Google) consider this behaviour as website cloaking? Are there other concerns I might not have considered?

  • jquery ajax and php arrays

    - by sea_1987
    Hi There, I am trying to submit some data to a PHP script, however the PHP scripts expects the data to arrive in a specific format, like this example which is a dump of the post, Array ( [save] => Add to shortlist [cv_file] => Array ( [849709537] => Y [849709616] => Y [849709633] => Y ) ) The process is currently that a user selects the product they want using checkboxes and then clicks a submit button which fires the PHP scripts, The HTML looks like this, div class="row"> <ul> <li class="drag_check ui-draggable"> <input type="checkbox" id="inp_cv_849709537" name="cv_file[849709537]" class="cv_choice" value="Y"> </li> <li class="id"><a href="/search/cv/849709537">849709537</a></li> <div class="disp"> <li class="location">Huddersfield</li> <li class="status"> Not currently working </li> <li class="education">other</li> <li class="role"> Temporary </li> <li class="salary">£100,000 or more</li> <div class="s">&nbsp;</div> </div> </ul> <dl> <dt>Current Role</dt> <dd>Developer </dd> <dt>Sectors</dt><dt> </dt><dd> Energy &amp; Utilities, Healthcare, Hospitality &amp; Travel, Installation &amp; Maintenance, Installation &amp; Maintenance </dd> <dt>About Me</dt><dt> </dt><dd></dd> </dl> <div class="s"></div> </div> I am needing to use AJAX instead now, but I need to send the data to PHP in the format it expects here is what I have so far, $('#addshortlist').click(function() { var datastring = ui.draggable.children().attr('name')+"="+ui.draggable.children().val()+"&save=Add to shortlist"; alert(datastring); $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: '/search', data:ui.draggable.children().attr('name')+"="+ui.draggable.children().val()+"&save=Add to shortlist", success:function(){ alert("Success"+datastring); }, error:function() { alert("Fail"+datastring); } }); return false; }); I would really appreciate any help

  • Efficiency Question for an Ajax App

    - by Kubi
    Hi, Currently I am dealing with a web application which uses a txt file as a database for testing for now. But we will connect it to a server later on. My question is, if there is a more efficient way to get my objects than the way I am using now. During the page_init I am getting all my objects into a Collection as List, then I am populating the ajax toolkit accordion objects in the page with that. I have some client side buttons which fires callbacks for getting some other objects to populate the accordions in an update panel. And I am using .net Collections too much like dictionary and list, I am wondering if using arrays is more efficient. Could you advise me about how to make this site better and faster ? Is it better or possible to initialize those TravelP objects in javascript at the beginning and use it like that ? Any comments would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

  • jQuery/AJAX type-ahead/auto-complete

    - by Prasad
    I have read several articles/questions/forums discussing the best auto-complete plugin for jQuery. After trying several good ones, I've realized a flaw in most. If you are looking up countries and type 'In', a couple of countries show up. If you continue typing I-n-d-i-a, this results in 5 AJAX calls (see http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/6f1bcd69e1.png) its quite natural that India is a subset of In, so why call again? We need to simply filter the retrieved list client-side. Anyone knows about such an implementation? What is the status of the Jquery Autocomplete feature? I read at StackOverflow that it is no longer available with Jquery; but the Jquery website has a 'New' mark besides the link to Autocomplete. Thanks

  • Cannot display returned JSON from a JQUERY AJAX call in CodeIgniter

    - by Obay
    Im using JQUERY + CodeIgniter. I can't seem to get the returned data to display after an ajax call. Here is my JQUERY: $.post("<?= site_url('plan/get_conflict') ?>", { user_id : user_id, datetime_from : plan_datetime_start, datetime_to : plan_datetime_end, json : true }, function(data) { alert(data); }, "json"); Here is my CodeIgniter: function get_conflict() { ... log_message("debug","get_conflict(): $result"); return $result; } My logs show: get_conflict(): {"work_product_name":"Functional Design Document","datetime_start_plan":"2010-04-22 08:00:00","datetime_end_plan":"2010-04-22 09:00:00","overlap_seconds":3600} Meaning the JSON is being returned correctly. However, the alert(data) nor alert(data.work_product_name) are not displayed. Any ideas?

  • Ajax and Brower Navigation for Back/Forward

    - by David Rodecker
    I am using a ASP.net form with custom onclick mouse events to modify data values. Upon clicking and updating the values, one div section of the form performs a postback. onclick="__doPostBack('ctl01$phCon1$gridReports','sel1')" This is working well, however when the browser BACK option is selected, the browser opens goes through the history of the DIV ajax/onclick actions prior to going back to the prior URL. I suspect that this may be due to the doPostBack being treated as a browsing operation. Is there a means to perform the necessary ASP.net code events to make the page work, but not have the action stored in the browser history?

  • How to Use JQuery Click Event on Button in an AJAX Form

    - by dpierre23
    I admittedly don't know much about JQuery but I have an AJAX page where I need to trigger a click event when someone clicks a button, but because the button is not there on the initial page load, I'm having issues using the click event. In my code, I just want to run a function when a button is clicked. <script type="text/javascript"> //Run function when button is clicked $(document).ready(function() { $("#idOfButton").click(function() { doSomething(); }); }); //The function I want ran when page visitor clicks button function doSomething() { //Do Something } </script> Obviously this code doesn't work, but any suggestions on how to use .click? I'm only able to insert JS via a tag management system, so I can't hard code anything into the page. Also, the JQuery version is 1.4, so I can't use .on. Thanks for your help.

  • CDN on Hosted Service in Windows Azure

    - by Shaun
    Yesterday I told Wang Tao, an annoying colleague sitting beside me, about how to make the static content enable the CDN in his website which had just been published on Windows Azure. The approach would be Move the static content, the images, CSS files, etc. into the blob storage. Enable the CDN on his storage account. Change the URL of those static files to the CDN URL. I think these are the very common steps when using CDN. But this morning I found that the new Windows Azure SDK 1.4 and new Windows Azure Developer Portal had just been published announced at the Windows Azure Blog. One of the new features in this release is about the CDN, which means we can enabled the CDN not only for a storage account, but a hosted service as well. Within this new feature the steps I mentioned above would be turned simpler a lot.   Enable CDN for Hosted Service To enable the CDN for a hosted service we just need to log on the Windows Azure Developer Portal. Under the “Hosted Services, Storage Accounts & CDN” item we will find a new menu on the left hand side said “CDN”, where we can manage the CDN for storage account and hosted service. As we can see the hosted services and storage accounts are all listed in my subscriptions. To enable a CDN for a hosted service is veru simple, just select a hosted service and click the New Endpoint button on top. In this dialog we can select the subscription and the storage account, or the hosted service we want the CDN to be enabled. If we selected the hosted service, like I did in the image above, the “Source URL for the CDN endpoint” will be shown automatically. This means the windows azure platform will make all contents under the “/cdn” folder as CDN enabled. But we cannot change the value at the moment. The following 3 checkboxes next to the URL are: Enable CDN: Enable or disable the CDN. HTTPS: If we need to use HTTPS connections check it. Query String: If we are caching content from a hosted service and we are using query strings to specify the content to be retrieved, check it. Just click the “Create” button to let the windows azure create the CDN for our hosted service. The CDN would be available within 60 minutes as Microsoft mentioned. My experience is that about 15 minutes the CDN could be used and we can find the CDN URL in the portal as well.   Put the Content in CDN in Hosted Service Let’s create a simple windows azure project in Visual Studio with a MVC 2 Web Role. When we created the CDN mentioned above the source URL of CDN endpoint would be under the “/cdn” folder. So in the Visual Studio we create a folder under the website named “cdn” and put some static files there. Then all these files would be cached by CDN if we use the CDN endpoint. The CDN of the hosted service can cache some kind of “dynamic” result with the Query String feature enabled. We create a controller named CdnController and a GetNumber action in it. The routed URL of this controller would be /Cdn/GetNumber which can be CDN-ed as well since the URL said it’s under the “/cdn” folder. In the GetNumber action we just put a number value which specified by parameter into the view model, then the URL could be like /Cdn/GetNumber?number=2. 1: using System; 2: using System.Collections.Generic; 3: using System.Linq; 4: using System.Web; 5: using System.Web.Mvc; 6:  7: namespace MvcWebRole1.Controllers 8: { 9: public class CdnController : Controller 10: { 11: // 12: // GET: /Cdn/ 13:  14: public ActionResult GetNumber(int number) 15: { 16: return View(number); 17: } 18:  19: } 20: } And we add a view to display the number which is super simple. 1: <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<int>" %> 2:  3: <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="TitleContent" runat="server"> 4: GetNumber 5: </asp:Content> 6:  7: <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> 8:  9: <h2>The number is: <% 1: : Model.ToString() %></h2> 10:  11: </asp:Content> Since this action is under the CdnController the URL would be under the “/cdn” folder which means it can be CDN-ed. And since we checked the “Query String” the content of this dynamic page will be cached by its query string. So if I use the CDN URL, http://az25311.vo.msecnd.net/GetNumber?number=2, the CDN will firstly check if there’s any content cached with the key “GetNumber?number=2”. If yes then the CDN will return the content directly; otherwise it will connect to the hosted service, http://aurora-sys.cloudapp.net/Cdn/GetNumber?number=2, and then send the result back to the browser and cached in CDN. But to be notice that the query string are treated as string when used by the key of CDN element. This means the URLs below would be cached in 2 elements in CDN: http://az25311.vo.msecnd.net/GetNumber?number=2&page=1 http://az25311.vo.msecnd.net/GetNumber?page=1&number=2 The final step is to upload the project onto azure. Test the Hosted Service CDN After published the project on azure, we can use the CDN in the website. The CDN endpoint we had created is az25311.vo.msecnd.net so all files under the “/cdn” folder can be requested with it. Let’s have a try on the sample.htm and c_great_wall.jpg static files. Also we can request the dynamic page GetNumber with the query string with the CDN endpoint. And if we refresh this page it will be shown very quickly since the content comes from the CDN without MCV server side process. We style of this page was missing. This is because the CSS file was not includes in the “/cdn” folder so the page cannot retrieve the CSS file from the CDN URL.   Summary In this post I introduced the new feature in Windows Azure CDN with the release of Windows Azure SDK 1.4 and new Developer Portal. With the CDN of the Hosted Service we can just put the static resources under a “/cdn” folder so that the CDN can cache them automatically and no need to put then into the blob storage. Also it support caching the dynamic content with the Query String feature. So that we can cache some parts of the web page by using the UserController and CDN. For example we can cache the log on user control in the master page so that the log on part will be loaded super-fast. There are some other new features within this release you can find here. And for more detailed information about the Windows Azure CDN please have a look here as well.   Hope this helps, Shaun All documents and related graphics, codes are provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind. • calling Valums Ajax uploader from other DOM element

    - by Marc
    I'm facing a problem with the valums Ajax File upload. Since the plugin is working perfectly after a few modifications on the server side, I cannot implement a specific behavior. My DOM is composed with an input file plus the container to instantiate the fileuploader buttons. What I want is to be able to fire the fileuploader plugins when clicking on the input:file[name="upload-file"]. ... <div id="upload-accepted"> <fieldset> <label for="upload-file">Select a file:</label> <input type="file" name="upload-file" id="upload-file"/> <noscript> <p>Please enable JavaScript to use file uploader.</p> </noscript> </fieldset> <div id="upload-container"> </div> </div> ... <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { var uploader = new qq.FileUploader({ action: '/file-upload', element: document.getElementById('upload-container'), onSubmit: function(id, filename){...}, onComplete: function(id, fileName, responseJSON){...} }); }); </script> I have tried to add the following on the script but it don't works $("#upload-file").live('change', function(event) { event.preventDefault(); $('.qq-upload-button').trigger('click'); return false; }); Any clues? Thanks in advance!

  • Ajax.BeginForm driving me crazy

    ASP.NET MVC3 I have a partial view that is initially rendered inside a div. The following is the partial code: @model Venue.Models.Validation.CustomerRequestModel <script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery-1.4.4.min.js")" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery.validate.min.js")" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery.validate.unobtrusive.min.js")" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/Scripts/MicrosoftAjax.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/Scripts/MicrosoftMvcAjax.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/Scripts/MicrosoftMvcValidation.js"></script> @{ Html.RenderPartial("Message"); } @Html.ValidationSummary() @using (Ajax.BeginForm( "Customer", "Service", null, new AjaxOptions() { HttpMethod = "post", InsertionMode = InsertionMode.Replace, LoadingElementDuration = 100, LoadingElementId = "loading-customer", OnBegin = "hideSubmitButton", OnSuccess = "hideForm", OnComplete = "showSubmitButton", OnFailure = "showErrorMessage", UpdateTargetId = "formclientes", }, new { id = "customer-form" })) { // Fields are all type="text" although some are numbers. <input type="text" name="Address" class="clientes_form" /> } The action: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Customer(CustomerRequestModel customer) { // ... } In the immediate window, this is what I get: this.Request.IsAjaxRequest() false Why?!

  • jQuery ajax form submit - multiple post/get requests caused when validation fails

    - by kenny99
    Hi, I have a problem where if a form submission (set up to submit via AJAX) fails validation, the next time the form is submitted, it doubles the number of post requests - which is definitely not what I want to happen. I'm using the jQuery ValidationEngine plugin to submit forms and bind validation messages to my fields. This is my code below. I think my problem may lie in the fact that I'm retrieving the form action attribute via $('.form_container form').attr('action') - I had to do it this way as using $(this).attr was picking up the very first loaded form's action attr - however, when i was loading new forms into the page it wouldn't pick up the new form's action correctly, until i removed the $(this) selector and referenced it using the class. Can anyone see what I might be doing wrong here? (Note I have 2 similar form handlers which are loaded on domready, that could also be an issue) $('input#eligibility').live("click", function(){ $(".form_container form").validationEngine({ ajaxSubmit: true, ajaxSubmitFile: $('.form_container form').attr('action'), success : function() { var url = $('input.next').attr('rel'); ajaxFormStage(url); }, failure : function() { //unique stuff for this form } }); }); //generic form handler - all form submissions not flagged with the #eligibility id $('input.next:not(#eligibility)').live("click", function(){ $(".form_container form").validationEngine({ ajaxSubmit: true, ajaxSubmitFile: $('.form_container form').attr('action'), success : function() { var url = $('input.next').attr('rel'); ajaxFormStage(url); }, failure : function() { } }); });

  • June 2013 Release of the Ajax Control Toolkit

    - by Stephen.Walther
    I’m happy to announce the June 2013 release of the Ajax Control Toolkit. For this release, we enhanced the AjaxFileUpload control to support uploading files directly to Windows Azure. We also improved the SlideShow control by adding support for CSS3 animations. You can get the latest release of the Ajax Control Toolkit by visiting the project page at CodePlex (http://AjaxControlToolkit.CodePlex.com). Alternatively, you can execute the following NuGet command from the Visual Studio Library Package Manager window: Uploading Files to Azure The AjaxFileUpload control enables you to efficiently upload large files and display progress while uploading. With this release, we’ve added support for uploading large files directly to Windows Azure Blob Storage (You can continue to upload to your server hard drive if you prefer). Imagine, for example, that you have created an Azure Blob Storage container named pictures. In that case, you can use the following AjaxFileUpload control to upload to the container: <toolkit:ToolkitScriptManager runat="server" /> <toolkit:AjaxFileUpload ID="AjaxFileUpload1" StoreToAzure="true" AzureContainerName="pictures" runat="server" /> Notice that the AjaxFileUpload control is declared with two properties related to Azure. The StoreToAzure property causes the AjaxFileUpload control to upload a file to Azure instead of the local computer. The AzureContainerName property points to the blob container where the file is uploaded. .int3{position:absolute;clip:rect(487px,auto,auto,444px);}SMALL cash advance VERY CHEAP To use the AjaxFileUpload control, you need to modify your web.config file so it contains some additional settings. You need to configure the AjaxFileUpload handler and you need to point your Windows Azure connection string to your Blob Storage account. <configuration> <appSettings> <!--<add key="AjaxFileUploadAzureConnectionString" value="UseDevelopmentStorage=true"/>--> <add key="AjaxFileUploadAzureConnectionString" value="DefaultEndpointsProtocol=https;AccountName=testact;AccountKey=RvqL89Iw4npvPlAAtpOIPzrinHkhkb6rtRZmD0+ojZupUWuuAVJRyyF/LIVzzkoN38I4LSr8qvvl68sZtA152A=="/> </appSettings> <system.web> <compilation debug="true" targetFramework="4.5" /> <httpRuntime targetFramework="4.5" /> <httpHandlers> <add verb="*" path="AjaxFileUploadHandler.axd" type="AjaxControlToolkit.AjaxFileUploadHandler, AjaxControlToolkit"/> </httpHandlers> </system.web> <system.webServer> <validation validateIntegratedModeConfiguration="false" /> <handlers> <add name="AjaxFileUploadHandler" verb="*" path="AjaxFileUploadHandler.axd" type="AjaxControlToolkit.AjaxFileUploadHandler, AjaxControlToolkit"/> </handlers> <security> <requestFiltering> <requestLimits maxAllowedContentLength="4294967295"/> </requestFiltering> </security> </system.webServer> </configuration> You supply the connection string for your Azure Blob Storage account with the AjaxFileUploadAzureConnectionString property. If you set the value “UseDevelopmentStorage=true” then the AjaxFileUpload will upload to the simulated Blob Storage on your local machine. After you create the necessary configuration settings, you can use the AjaxFileUpload control to upload files directly to Azure (even very large files). Here’s a screen capture of how the AjaxFileUpload control appears in Google Chrome: After the files are uploaded, you can view the uploaded files in the Windows Azure Portal. You can see that all 5 files were uploaded successfully: New AjaxFileUpload Events In response to user feedback, we added two new events to the AjaxFileUpload control (on both the server and the client): · UploadStart – Raised on the server before any files have been uploaded. · UploadCompleteAll – Raised on the server when all files have been uploaded. · OnClientUploadStart – The name of a function on the client which is called before any files have been uploaded. · OnClientUploadCompleteAll – The name of a function on the client which is called after all files have been uploaded. These new events are most useful when uploading multiple files at a time. The updated AjaxFileUpload sample page demonstrates how to use these events to show the total amount of time required to upload multiple files (see the AjaxFileUpload.aspx file in the Ajax Control Toolkit sample site). SlideShow Animated Slide Transitions With this release of the Ajax Control Toolkit, we also added support for CSS3 animations to the SlideShow control. The animation is used when transitioning from one slide to another. Here’s the complete list of animations: · FadeInFadeOut · ScaleX · ScaleY · ZoomInOut · Rotate · SlideLeft · SlideDown You specify the animation which you want to use by setting the SlideShowAnimationType property. For example, here is how you would use the Rotate animation when displaying a set of slides: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="ShowSlideShow.aspx.cs" Inherits="TestACTJune2013.ShowSlideShow" %> <%@ Register TagPrefix="toolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" %> <script runat="Server" type="text/C#"> [System.Web.Services.WebMethod] [System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptMethod] public static AjaxControlToolkit.Slide[] GetSlides() { return new AjaxControlToolkit.Slide[] { new AjaxControlToolkit.Slide("slides/Blue hills.jpg", "Blue Hills", "Go Blue"), new AjaxControlToolkit.Slide("slides/Sunset.jpg", "Sunset", "Setting sun"), new AjaxControlToolkit.Slide("slides/Winter.jpg", "Winter", "Wintery..."), new AjaxControlToolkit.Slide("slides/Water lilies.jpg", "Water lillies", "Lillies in the water"), new AjaxControlToolkit.Slide("slides/VerticalPicture.jpg", "Sedona", "Portrait style picture") }; } </script> <!DOCTYPE html> <html > <head runat="server"> <title></title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <toolkit:ToolkitScriptManager ID="ToolkitScriptManager1" runat="server" /> <asp:Image ID="Image1" Height="300" Runat="server" /> <toolkit:SlideShowExtender ID="SlideShowExtender1" TargetControlID="Image1" SlideShowServiceMethod="GetSlides" AutoPlay="true" Loop="true" SlideShowAnimationType="Rotate" runat="server" /> </div> </form> </body> </html> In the code above, the set of slides is exposed by a page method named GetSlides(). The SlideShowAnimationType property is set to the value Rotate. The following animated GIF gives you an idea of the resulting slideshow: If you want to use either the SlideDown or SlideRight animations, then you must supply both an explicit width and height for the Image control which is the target of the SlideShow extender. For example, here is how you would declare an Image and SlideShow control to use a SlideRight animation: <toolkit:ToolkitScriptManager ID="ToolkitScriptManager1" runat="server" /> <asp:Image ID="Image1" Height="300" Width="300" Runat="server" /> <toolkit:SlideShowExtender ID="SlideShowExtender1" TargetControlID="Image1" SlideShowServiceMethod="GetSlides" AutoPlay="true" Loop="true" SlideShowAnimationType="SlideRight" runat="server" /> Notice that the Image control includes both a Height and Width property. Here’s an approximation of this animation using an animated GIF: Summary The Superexpert team worked hard on this release. We hope you like the new improvements to both the AjaxFileUpload and the SlideShow controls. We’d love to hear your feedback in the comments. On to the next sprint!
