  • Does anyone here uses PHP-GTK? Is there a better alternative?

    I had made some questions regarding php-gtk(there are only 4 php-gtk tagged questions and 3 are mine) and I end up answering myself because no one answer them. I know is a strange language selection but I was attracted to it because it runs on several OS's and the fact that I can reuse some of my code (also the apps end up looking good and I can make little installers in NSIS that just rocks). Is there a better alternative, that is free(as freedom) and can run on several platforms?

  • Adding Sharepoint 2007/2010 ontop of TFS 2010

    So i finally have everything up and running and everyone is mostly happy - TFS 2010 rocks! However i now want to add office sharepoint, i didn't want to have it installed first because i was worried that it would stuff with things and i wanted to look back on the TFS installation, once i knew how portals were created. So what is the best way to now add sharepoint to the installation without stuffing things up? i have a 2 server environment, with TFS on one and the database on another.

  • How is animation accomplished in these apps?

    Most of the Android users use the GO SMS app, and the iPhone users use their normal messaging app (Android rocks). Now, whenever a user types a message and presses the send button, the message's edit text field sets a glossy green background, also the green colored background comes floating at the back of the edit text field. How do they do it? (I have been searching this for a while, but was unable to find an answer.)

Error: Could not symlink file: /usr/local/Cellar/cmake/2.8.8/share/doc/cmake /usr/local/share/doc is not writable. You should change its permissions. when I typed brew doctor I get this Error: Some directories in /usr/local/share/locale aren't writable. This can happen if you "sudo make install" software that isn't managed by Homebrew. If a brew tries to add locale information to one of these directories, then the install will fail during the link step.     Hi folks, this is correlated to a question I asked earlier (question) I have a list of manually created strings such as: lucy87 gordan_king fancy_unicorn77 joplucky_kanga90 base_belong_to_narwhals and a list of randomized strings: johnkdf pancake90kgjd fancy_jagookfk manhattanljg What gives away that the last set of strings are randomized is that sequences such as 'kjg', 'jgf', 'lkd', ... . Any clever way I could separate strings that contain these apparently randomized strings from the crowd? I guess that this plays a lot on the fact that certain characters are more likely to be placed next to others (e.g. 'co', 'ka', 'ja', ...). Any ideas on this one? Kylotan mentioned Reverend, but I am not sure if it can be used fr such purpose. Help would be much appreciated!

Instead of retrieving the entire table, I am retrieving only one record using the following statement :- select * from Products where ProductID=3 Now I wanted to update dataset directly in to DB by using following statements (DAP 4.1) db.UpdateDataSet(ds, ds.Tables[0].TableName, null, cmdupdate, null, UpdateBehavior.Standard); Questions Can I Retrieve only one row from DB while a lot of other records are there and update back using Adapter update? ( In other words, I am not selecting all records from table) I am using Data Application Block 4.1? It will work there right? If anyone can give example for update will be great ( with Procedures). But when I start installing all the updates, patches & less .NET 4.0 client (As the .NET 4.0 Client seems to bring machine to slow crawl). The pc starts to slow down.. like there is more resources to watch or something in the background is happening. So could I not get away with a awesome virus protector & awesome firewall set-up and avoid all the patches? The machine I have is a quad 4, 4gb ram and 2.3 GHZ process. Tons of room and the machine can run several apps at one time.. but when the updates happen.. its s-l-o-w!

  • Two subnets on one switch with no VLAN and possible problems

    As far as I know in order to use two subnets on one physical cable VLAN's are recommended. However, is it possible to achieve this (i.e: two subnets on one physical network) like 192.168.1.0/24 and 10.0.0.0/8 networks. What kind of problems or hidden rocks this way contains? With VLAN's it's possible to better isolate so users wouldn't easly sniff the other network. But in my environment it's okay if user on one subnet could listen to the traffic on another network. Is it the only problem?

  • Multiple servers acting like a single one with all the hardware?

    Hello, by now I have 10 servers for hpc, power computing oriented. My users need to launch several processes using qmake. The users are used to work with ubuntu 9.10, and the software from the repositories is switable for them. I've deployed ubuntu 9.10 to all 10 servers (pxe rocks). By now we work with parallel-ssh and cluster-ssh, which allows as to launch the same process to all servers. With this tools this tools the servers remain as independent but with the same software and the same launched command. Now we would like to go to next step and see all the servers as a single one with all the resources from the other 9 as if was its resources. The difference would be substantial in time to process and also time to design the command to launch. Any advice on wich software to use will be very useful? Thanks

  • Moving a window from a disconnected monitor to connected monitor on Vista

    I have a laptop that runs Vista Mega Ultimate Amazing for Business 64-bit. When at work, I connect a monitor via USB (which totally rocks) to the "left" of the laptop monitor. It's identified as monitor 3. At home, I use an old CRT monitor that sits to the right of the laptop monitor. It's monitor 2. Monitor 1 is, of course, the inbuilt laptop monitor. Now at home I open a window, any window, on monitor 2. Then I come to work and plug in monitor 3. Anything I had open on monitor 2 is now stuck in unretrievable land. (Actually, it's probably anything that was minimised when I left home that belonged on monitor 2 will expand back onto monitor 2, even though it's disconnected) How can I get those windows back onto connected monitors?

    I love AutuCAD. It's powerful, easy to use, and fits engineering mind. It rocks when you want to draw 2D diagrams and shapes and one the cool features I like about it, is its snapping power. You draw a simple rectangle, then you can very easily create a circumscribe circle around it. However, new version of it are becoming really heavy (in size) and need high tech hardware, because of its powerful 3D capabilities, and rendering engines coming with it. I only want the 2D part of AutoCAD. Is there any software out there, which resembles AutoCAD (like having a console, where you can type L and get the line tool, or having snapping capability, etc.), but is small in size? In other words, what software can be named as AutoCAD 2D alternative?

    This is my first post here in programmers.stackexchange (I'm a regular on SO). I hope this isn't too general. I'm trying a simple project to learn Java from something I've seen done in the past. Basically, it's an AI simulation where there are herbivorous and carnivorous creatures and both must try to survive. The part I am trying to come up with is that of the board itself. Let's assume very simple rules. The board must be of size X by Y and only one element can be in one place at one time. For example, a critter cannot be in the same tile as a food block. There can be obstacles (rocks, trees..), there can be food, there can be critters of any type. Assuming these rules, what would be one good way to represent this situation ? This is what I came up with and want suggestions if possible: Use multiple levels of inheritance to represent all the different possible objects (AbstractObject - (NonMovingObject - (Food, Obstacle) , MovingObject - Critter - (Carnivorous, Herbivorous))) and use polymorphism in a 2D array to store the instances and still have access to lower level methods.   • Need a MP3 ID3 tagger, and cover fetcher

    I need to tag my MP3 library, and have tried kid3 (which was manual tagging), when I used Kubuntu 9.10 (I now use Ubunutu Meerkat) Here are the features I am hoping for: A good and clean UI. Tagging should be automatic, like Winamp's autotag feature, which rocks, btw! It should also embed the cover-art in the mp3, not copy a jpeg file in the folder, because now-a-days all players support displaying cover art. But acceptable if not possible. Rename the files as per some regular expression like %TrackNo - %Artist - %Title. Should be accurate, and more importantly smart. I want to start tagging at night, and hopefully my collection should be done by the morning, w/o it being stuck at a user prompt at 1%. If one app cant do all, I am willing to use 3, wouldn't mind exposure to a few more apps ;) I have used picard or someting, and I didnt like it quite a lot. But wouldn't mind using it, if there is no other alternative. Thanks for your time!
