MySQL problem: How to get desired rows.

I have been trying to solve this problem for 2 hours now but I cant understand the solutions others have given people with a similar problem. Ive seen some answers but can't apply it to my own needs. I have a table of users and their times in different sports events. c printing string syntax

Hello guys, Just stuck on c syntax regarding strings. Say I have a string like (name[5]="peter";) in c say if I just wanted to print the last character of string or check the last character of the string, which in this case would be 'r' how can I do this? The way I was thinking does not seem to work name[5]="peter"; if(name[5]=="r") printf("last character of name is r"); Question: is there some sort of function to do this that can check one character of array, is a certain value, like name[5] is 'r' in string peter or likewise name[1] is 'n' Also how do I use printf to print that certain char, having problems using printf("last character of name is %s",name[5]) ??? After the datarow is read (match the target type), it will be deleted. However, the row is deleted immediately after .Delete() execute, so the location of the next row (by i) is incorrect. For example, if TargetType is A. When i=0, the "Peter" row is deleted after .Delete executed. Then when i=1, I suppose it will locate the "Sam" row but it actually located "John" row because "Peter" row is deleted. Is there any problem in my codes?

Why does my Internet slow to a crawl unless I reboot my router every few days?

A few weeks ago, I noticed that my Internet connection had slowed down to a crawl. I waited a few days hoping it would go away on its own, but it didn't get better. So I asked this question about how to make it faster. The problem went away after I updated to the latest firmware, so I didn't follow up too carefully. But every few days since then, my Internet has slowed down again. Unlike before, all I have to do to fix it is open the router administration page and press the "Reboot" button. Nothing else seems to work, though I'm sure there are options I haven't tried. If it makes a difference, my girlfriend and I both transfer large amounts of data fairly routinely for school (videoconferencing, downloading entire recorded lectures). The router is a Cisco/Linksys 160N V3 that's about a year old. Most of the time, it deals with just two standard Windows 7 laptops. The only thing I came across while searching for answers/dupes was this question, which seems similar superficially, but probably doesn't have the same root issue. Anyways, it's not resolved. What could be causing these slowdowns, and how can I get rid of them?

I am running a postfix mta with debian wheezy. I am using postfix-policyd-spf-python, openkdim and opendmarc. When receiving e-mails from google (google apps with own domain) for example, the header looks like this: [...] Authentication-Results: mail.xx.de; dkim=pass reason="1024-bit key; insecure key" header.d=yyy.com [email protected] header.b=OswLe0N+; dkim-adsp=pass; dkim-atps=neutral<br> [...] Authentication-Results: mail.xx.de; spf=pass (sender SPF authorized) smtp.mailfrom=yyy.com (client-ip=2a00:1450:400c:c00::242; helo=mail-wg0-x242.google.com; [email protected]; [email protected]) [...] Authentication-Results: mail.xx.de; dmarc=pass header.from=yyy.com<br> [...] This means any of these programs creates it's own Authentication-Results:-Line. Is it possible to tell postfix to merge this into one single Authentication-Results:-Line? When I send an e-mail to google, it says: [...] Authentication-Results: mx.google.com; spf=pass (google.com: domain of [email protected] designates xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx as permitted sender) [email protected]; dkim=pass [email protected]; dmarc=pass (p=NONE dis=NONE) header.from=xxx.com [...] And this is exactly what I want. How can I stop my laptop display from flickering when I connect my TV?

I have a laptop with an HDMI output port running Vista, and an HDTV with HDMI input ports. The laptop is set to extend its desktop onto a second monitor. When I connect the computer to the TV with an HDMI cable, my laptop screen usually flickers rapidly. Most of the time it lasts for about 30 seconds, but sometimes it lasts for several minutes and once in a while it doesn't happen at all. It wouldn't be so bad except that the cursor moves back to the center of the laptop screen with each flicker, so I can't really do anything until the machine decides it's ready to calm down. I haven't been able to find any pattern at all for the causes or duration of the flickering. It doesn't seem to matter what programs the laptop is running when I connect it to the TV, whether I enable the extended display before or after I connect the TV or which HDMI port/cable I use. What could be causing this, and how can I make it go away?

Running dnsmasq as an authoritative DNS server

I am trying to implement a dynamic dns service for my computers. I have pointed h.lohray.com to my EC2 instance in the NS record of lohray.com and have installed dnsmasq on that system and have made sure to unblock the firewall port. For now, I have statistically added an entry on my /etc/hosts file. 129.118.19.163 i7.h.lohray.com however, i7.h.lohray.com does not resolve correctly with nslookup or dig :-( This is the only time I could have this resolved (online nslookup) - 50.19.103.190 is the IP address of the EC2 instance where dnsmasq is running. Where could I have gone wrong?

Create an alias in Windows XP

Back in school, I used to have a .login file along the lines of alias ll = ls -l alias dir = ls -Fhl alias web = cd ~/public/public_www/development ... I'd like to do that sort of thing with my XP box here at work, but most of the resources I've found online seem fairly complicated and heavy-duty. Is there a way to do this that doesn't involve mucking about in the registry or running a large batch file? EDIT: My original reason for asking this was that I only need the command line for one command in one specific folder, and I wanted to be able to get to that folder quickly when I launched the command line. But the accepted answer for this question is so good that I decided to ask about my original issue as a separate question here.

nginx config woes for multiple subdomains & domains

I'm finally moving away from Apache and I've got the latest development version of nginx running on a fully updated Ubuntu 10.04 VPS. I've got a single dedicated IP for the box (1.2.3.4) but I've got two separate domains pointing to the server: www.example1.com and www.example2.net. I would like to map the fallowing relationships between urls and document roots in the config: www.example1.com / example1.com -> /var/www/pub/example1.com/ subdomain.example1.com -> /var/www/dev/subdomain/example1.com/ www.example2.net / example2.net -> /var/www/pub/example2.net/ subdomain.example2.net -> /var/www/dev/subdomain/example2.net/ Where the name of the requested subdomain is a folder under /var/www/dev/. Ideally a request for a non-existent subdomain(no matching folder found) would result in a rewrite to the public site (eg: invalid.example1.com -- www.example1.com) however a mere "404 Not Found" wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. It would also be nice if I didn't need to modify the config every time I mkdir a new subdomain folder - even better if I don't need to edit it for a new domain either...but now I'm getting greedy... :p Although in my defense Apache did all of this with a single directive. Does anyone know how I can efficiently mimic this behavior in nginx? Thanks in advance, Peter Hanneman

How do I uncompress vmlinuz to vmlinux?

I have already tried uncompress, gzip, and all other solutions that come up as google results and these have not worked for me. To get just the image search for the GZ signature - 1f 8b 08 00. > od -A d -t x1 vmlinuz | grep '1f 8b 08 00' 0024576 24 26 27 00 ae 21 16 00 1f 8b 08 00 7f 2f 6b 45 so the image begins at 24576+8 => 24584. Then just copy the image from the point and decompress it - > dd if=vmlinuz bs=1 skip=24584 | zcat > vmlinux 1450414+0 records in 1450414+0 records out 1450414 bytes (1.5 MB) copied, 6.78127 s, 214 kB/s Got these instructions verbatim from a forum online: http://www.codeguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=415186 This process does not work for me and end up giving errors that states file not found 0024576 and all subsequent numbers. How do I proceed extracting vmlinux from vmlinuz? Thank you. EDITED: This is a reverse engineering question. I have no access to the distro to install any RPM or recompile. I start with nothing but vmlinuz.

Firefox window disappears

Now this is odd. At some point in the last half hour, my Firefox window disappeared. I didn't notice, as I was working in another program at the time. No Firefox icon shows up with Alt-Tab, and no Firefox listing shows up under the Applications tab in the task manager. There is a Firefox entry under the Processes tab. Normally, I probably wouldn't have noticed, just opened Firefox up again, but I'm listening to an Internet radio station and the stream never stopped. When I did open a new Firefox window, it showed up in the Task Manager's applications tab. I'm running Windows XP, and my Firefox has the add-ons Adblock Plus, BetterPrivacy, Cert Viewer Plus, DOM Inspector, Firebug, Greasemonkey, Java Quick Starter, Live HTTP headers, Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant, NoScript, WebDeveloper and XPather. The radio station is Slacker; it's never given me any trouble before, and I've been using it for months. I don't think there was anything unusual in my open tabs; just a few static pages at non-sketchy sites like Java APIs, plus GMail and the aforementioned Slacker. Googling brought up a handful of similar-but-not-quite-the-same errors, none of which had useful resolutions. Does anyone know how to bring that window back and/or prevent this from happening again?

How can laptop keyboard keys be removed and replaced?

I'm trying to fix a laptop keyboard that has issues with keys on its left side. Just by feel, it's clear that something sticky got under there. There could be something crunchy too, but that might just be the sound of the key's spring releasing itself from the sticky. I don't know the cause because it's not my computer and the owner isn't sure, but I'm guessing soda spill for now. The computer is an HP dv2500. I've removed the keyboard and blown under it but that hasn't helped. I didn't use compressed air because I just don't have any available, but I suspect it wouldn't help with sticky. So, I'd like to pop they keys off and clean with damp cotton swabs or similar. Is there a proper way to remove the keys? I've found some instructions via Google for non-laptop keyboards, but they don't seem like they'd work for me. Alternate solutions to the problem also welcome, but I've been curious about how to remove the keys for some time for other reasons.

How can I restrict a group to reading only two particular folders with Windows Server?

I have a group of users on Windows Server 2003 who need to be able to read the contents of two directories but not be able to access anything else on the server (including read-only access). One of the directories is K:\projectFour\config — and the other is similarly formatted — so it would be okay for group members to be able to list the contents of K:\ and K:\projectFour\ but not actually read anything in those directories. I've found several resources via SF/Google, including how to restrict individual folders/drives and how to allow users to only run specific executables, but that information ultimately didn't solve my issue. Sorry if this is a really simple thing to do, I'm usually a developer and don't know the first thing about servers or group policies. Finally, I should mention that this isn't a fully concrete question, as it will be implemented eventually but I don't personally have a copy of Windows Server 2003 to test with right now.

High speed network configuration

Sorry if this seems to be a stupid question, I'm not sure how to specify what I want to know when checking google. I will have 2 or 3 devices pumping out data on a 100Base-T port. The combined data rate of all devices is about 15KB/S which exceeds the optimal 100Base-T channel capacity (12KB/S), but well within the realms of a 1000Base-T connection. Each device will be sending a burst of data in the form of an FTP transfer to a common, single host computer in a sequential manner ie: Device A establishes FTP connection and transfers data Device B establishes FTP connection and transfers data Device C establishes FTP connection and transfers data It may be that the A&B, B&C and C&A transfers overlap in the time domain to some extent. There will be minimal traffic going back from the computer to each device (in general what ever is needed to support the FTP transfers), and the network will be dedicated to transferring data between these devices and the host computer. Is it possible to use a switch to combine the multiple incoming 100Base-T streams into a single outgoing 1000Base-T stream? if so what features in a switch should I be looking for? Or would it be better to have 3 physical point-to-point 100Base-T dedicated connections between each device and the host computer? (thus having at least 3 physical Ethernet interfaces on that computer) Note that I can't change the interface on the devices, but I am free to choose the network and host computer configuration. Internet Explorer 8 only running as process not application

Internet Explorer 8 on XP SP3 starts without browser window. Task manager doesn't show application, but iexplore.exe is listed twice in process window. Process Explorer reports "no visible windows found for this process" when I try to "bring to front" in the iexplore.exe properties dialog. Have reinstalled (twice), full scanned with MBAM/MSSE/SpyBot etc, re-registered ieproxy.dll (another Google-inspired tip!), run without addons (-extoff switch), and still same problem. Recently uninstalled VMWare Player and wondered whether problem related to VM network adapter somehow, but Firefox still works perfectly. This is one of my home machines, not critical, and it is backed up, so I will restore if I have to. But any and all suggestions will be gratefully received. It would be nice to understand what might have happened, and perhaps others may benefit from any knowledge that comes to light.

If I run service php-fcgi start & and then ps aux, I see the php-cgi process running bound to the socket. I see the start command stop only when I execute service php-fcgi stop. How do I solve this blocking issue? I have tried adding an & at the end of the line spawning the daemon. But other scripts do not seem to be doing this. This is the most complicated script I am attempting to modify yet :-( How do I get the script to display the green [ OK ]? I checked scripts like httpd and saw that all they were doing was something as shown below. But I never see a green [ OK ] when I execute php-fcgi. I also discovered that putting echo_success with functions sourced displays the green [ OK ] but I do not see any other scripts in the /etc/rc.d/init.d/ executing echo_success or echo_failure. What have I got wrong? Also, How do i specify PHP_FCGI_CHILDREN with daemon? echo [ $RETVAL -eq 0 ] && touch /var/lock/subsys/

What is the minimum delay between two consecutive RS232 frames?

I have been working on creating a UART on an FPGA. I can successfully transmit and receive single characters typed on PuTTY. However, when I set my FPGA to constantly write a large sequences of "A", sometimes I end up with a sequences of "@" or some other characters until I reset the FPGA a few times. I believe the UART on the computer looses track of the difference between the start bit and a zero. The delay between the two "A" is ~ 30us (measured with a logic analyzer) and the baud rate is 115200 8N1. Is there a minimum delay that must be maintained between two consecutive RS232 frames?

How can I get data off of a damaged thumb drive?

A guy I work with just came by to ask me about a damaged thumb drive/USB flash drive. Apparently his son dropped it on a hard surface and it won't power up anymore. They've tried plugging it into multiple machines without success, even though each port they tried was able to power other USB devices. He knows it's not a lost cause because a local tech store is offering to recover the data for $500, but he says they're not worth that much. I figured someone on SU would have an idea about this; he doesn't care about using the drive in the future, just wants to salvage a few files that would be a pain to recreate. Is this possible without advanced equipment, and if so, how? He said he already tried the advice on the Internet about typing in different drive letters and such, but that failed because there was no power going to the drive. He also said that he opened the case up at one point, but I'm not sure what, if anything, he did inside.

How can text be set on both the left and right sides of a line in Word?

Is it possible to set Microsoft Word to display some text left-aligned and other text right-aligned on a single line? Here's an example of what I mean: | Chickens, turkey and duck 30 | | Cows 240 | | Pigs and boar 83 | | Sheep Not applicable | where the vertical lines denote the sides of the page. The full justify option won't work because I don't want anything in the middle of the lines. The table of contents option has the formatting I want, but only supports page numbers, which does me no good.

How is it possible to list all folders that a particular user/group has permissions on?

Is it possible to list all folders/files that a given group has explicit permissions on, for a machine running Windows Server 2003? If so, how? It would be nice to see inherited permissions as well, but I could do with just explicit permissions. A little background: I'm trying to update groups/permissions on a test server. One of the groups, Devs, wasn't implemented correctly when it was created, and my goal is to remove it from the system. It has been replaced by LeadDevelopers, which has permissions on many — but naturally not all — of the same folders. I want to make sure that I don't accidentally orphan any folders or cause any other issues when I remove Devs. It did have some admin-level permissions.

What to do with old laptop screens?

This question is inspired by another SU question I came across earlier today: What to do with old hard drives? It made me think about two long-dead laptops I have with perfectly good screens still inside. One is a Dell Inspiron 5100 and the other is an Averatec E1200, but responses need not be geared towards those particular models' screens. Rules, based heavily on the original question's: Objectives and suggestions to keep in mind when you post an answer : Should showcase your geekiness, be plain ol' fun, serve a social purpose or benefit the community. Your answer need not be limited to only one screen. For a really good answer, I'll go out and buy additional leftover screens. Your answer need not be limited to one project per screen. If additional accessories need be purchased, make sure they are common. Don't tell me to get a moon rock or something. The projects you suggested should serve a useful purpose; art is nice, but functional art is way better. Thanks in advance, folks. EDIT: Found another related question. Fun projects to do with an old 17" LCD monitor EDIT 2: I, for one, am enjoying the new outpouring of creativity here. Best fifty bucks... I mean, rep points... I ever spent. EDIT 3: That does it. At the end of the week, there was a tie for most votes between the accepted answer and the game platform answer. The game platform answer was cooler, but less reasonable as a project to actually do; in other words, it was more moon rocky. Executing a command as apache

This script keeps outputting a 1. and I cannot understand why. <?php passthru("nohup sudo rndc reload sd.example.com",$op); print_r($op); ?> I have also tried the above code without the nohup. I have the following line in my sudoers file apache ALL = NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/rndc reload sd.example.com Just to test, temporally, I allowed apache a shell, logged in as apache by sudo su apache and successfully managed to execute sudo rndc reload sd.example.com. I do not see any error message in my log files wither. What could I be possibly doing wrong? None of the similar threads have pointed me to anything that solved my problem or debug it.

How does the "Full Control" permission differ from manually giving all other permissions?

On Windows Server 2003, and some other versions of Windows, the Properties > Security tab of a folder's or file's context menu provides "Allow" and "Deny" options for "Full Control," "Modify," "Read" and other permissions (graphic provided). After clicking "Full Control," all boxes in the column — except for "Special Permissions" — get automatically checked. What's the difference between checking "Full Control" and just checking all the other boxes individually? Are there hidden/advanced permissions toggled by "Full Control" that aren't listed in the main permissions window? Is "Full Control" just a convenience shortcut?
