  • Error 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query when executing CHECK TABLE FOR UPGRADE

    - by Dean Richardson
I just upgraded Ubuntu from 11.10 to 12.04. My rails app now returns the (passenger) error "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (111) (Mysql2::Error)". I get a similar error when I try to access mysql at the command line on my Ubuntu server using mysql -u root -p. I have mysql-server 5.5 installed. I've checked and mysql is not running. When I try to restart it, it fails. Here are some key lines from the tail of /var/log/syslog after an attempted restart: dean@dgwjasonfried:/etc/mysql$ tail -f /var/log/syslog Mar 7 08:55:27 dgwjasonfried /etc/mysql/debian-start[5107]: Looking for 'mysqlcheck' as: /usr/bin/mysqlcheck Mar 7 08:55:27 dgwjasonfried /etc/mysql/debian-start[5107]: Running 'mysqlcheck' with connection arguments: '--port=3306' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' '--host=localhost' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' '--host=localhost' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' Mar 7 08:55:27 dgwjasonfried /etc/mysql/debian-start[5107]: Running 'mysqlcheck' with connection arguments: '--port=3306' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' '--host=localhost' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' '--host=localhost' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' Mar 7 08:55:27 dgwjasonfried /etc/mysql/debian-start[5107]: /usr/bin/mysqlcheck: Got error: 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query when executing 'CHECK TABLE ... I reviewed the related questions here and attempted some of the fixes offered but to no avail. Thanks! Dean Richardson Update: Thanks to quanta's suggestion, I looked at the /var/log/mysql/error.log file. I found error messages relating to pointers, fatal signals, and more stuff that I really couldn't make much sense of. I also found mysql man page references, however. One suggested that I try starting mysqld with the --innodb_force_recovery=# option, then attempt to dump (or drop) the offending/corrupted database or table. I worked through the escalating option levels one-by-one (innodb_force_recovery=1, innodb_force_recovery=2, etc.) This allowed me to successfully run mysql -u root -p from the command line and execute several commands. I was able to run queries on my production database, but any attempt to query, dump, or even drop my development database raised an error and led to me losing the connection to mysql. So I've made progress, but until I'm somehow able to drop or repair my development db I'm still unable to get my app to load. Any further advice or suggestions? Thanks! Dean Update: Right after running sudo mysqld --innodb_force_recover=1 from the command line, the error.log contains this: Right after retrying sudo mysqld --innodb_force_recover=1, The error.log file shows this: 130308 4:55:39 [Note] Plugin 'FEDERATED' is disabled. 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: The InnoDB memory heap is disabled 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: Mutexes and rw_locks use GCC atomic builtins 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: Compressed tables use zlib 1.2.3.4 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: Initializing buffer pool, size = 128.0M 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: Completed initialization of buffer pool 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: highest supported file format is Barracuda. • Can't edit an account in MySQL Administrator on OS X

    - by Wavy Crab
I'm running MySQL 5.5.20 on OS X 10.6.8. Using MySQL Administrator 1.2.12 (the latest) I am unable to edit any accounts. After successfully connecting to the database in MySQL Administrator, I go the Account tab, expand a user, and it just says "Loading...". It will stay on "Loading..." indefinitely. The symptoms are almost identical to user's experience and this MySQL bug from 2006, which has since been closed (fixed?). If I create a user and grant permissions to a schema, I get the error "Could not save changes to the use", which came up in 2005 as a bug (now closed). How do I edit MySQL accounts using MySQL Administrator?

  • Upgrade MySQL on Plesk on Windows

    - by Cyril Gupta
I just got a nasty surprise when I installed a website in Unicode Hindi (Indian language) on a server, all freshly entered unicode data is turning into question marks on the server. On my dev machine it works perfectly. I found that I have MySQL version 5.0.45 (installed in default by Plesk I guess). On my dev machine i have version 5.1.33. I believe the problem could be due to the version difference. The new version of MySQL apparently has better support for Unicode than the older one. I want to upgrade MySQL on my Windows Server machine with Plesk installed on it I am reluctant to just install the new version using the mysql installer because Plesk maintains some custom settings for mysql and I am afraid the new version could change those settings and break my db. Can anyone tell me do I have to do anything special to install MySQL on plesk on windows or can I just use the new version installer?

  • DELETING doubled users (MySQL)

    - by vizzdoom
Hi I have two tables. There are users informations from two sites: p_users p_users2 There are 3726 users in first and 13717 in second. Some users in p_users2 are in p_users. I want merge this two tables to the one big table - but rows with same usernames can't be doubled. How can I do this? I tried something like this: DELETE FROM p_users2 WHERE user_id IN ( select p.user_id from p_users p join p_users2 p2 on p.username=p2.username ) After that I should receive a table with unique usernames, which I want to export and import to the first one. But when I execute my query I got error: SQL Error (1093): You can't specify target table 'p_users2' for update in FROM clause. (MYSQL)

  • Mysql Cluster not working on Ubuntu

    - by user53864
I am unable to setup MySQL Cluster on ubuntu servers. As a starting point I started from the link but I am not successful and the tar ball version I download is 6.3.45. As I wanted to test the mysql cluster, the Data node and SQL node are same but sql never appeared as connected in management node console and it looks like below. [ndbd(NDB)] 2 node(s) id=2 @192.168.1.107 (Version: version number, Nodegroup: 0, Master) id=3 @192.168.1.108 (Version: version number, Nodegroup: 0) [ndb_mgmd(MGM)] 1 node(s) id=1 @192.168.1.105 (Version: version number) [mysqld(API)] 2 node(s) id=4 (not connected, accepting connect from 192.168.1.107) id=5 (not connected, accepting connect from 192.168.1.108) On all the 3 machines mysql-server & client(apt-get install mysql-server mysql-client) were already installed and I completely stopped and also removed them at the system start up. Now the mysqld is from extracted cluster tar ball(/usr/local/mysql/support-files/mysql.server). As for testing, I created a test database on both the data nodes but the tables are also not syncing on other node. I checked many links, configurations are remained similar in all the links but somewhere it's going wrong. Anymore extra package is required?, Could anyone help me here..?. I am trying this for past 3 days... Thank you!

  • MySQL Cluster 7.3: On-Demand Webinar and Q&A Available

    - by Mat Keep
The on-demand webinar for the MySQL Cluster 7.3 Development Release is now available. You can learn more about the design, implementation and getting started with all of the new MySQL Cluster 7.3 features from the comfort and convenience of your own device, including: - Foreign Key constraints in MySQL Cluster - Node.js NoSQL API  - Auto-installation of higher performance distributed, clusters We received some great questions over the course of the webinar, and I wanted to share those for the benefit of a broader audience. Q. What Foreign Key actions are supported: A. The core referential actions defined in the SQL:2003 standard are implemented: CASCADE RESTRICT NO ACTION SET NULL Q. Where are Foreign Keys implemented, ie data nodes or SQL nodes? A. They are implemented in the data nodes, therefore can be enforced for both the SQL and NoSQL APIs Q. Are they compatible with the InnoDB Foreign Key implementation? A. Yes, with the following exceptions: - InnoDB doesn’t support “No Action” constraints, MySQL Cluster does - You can choose to suspend FK constraint enforcement with InnoDB using the FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS parameter; at the moment, MySQL Cluster ignores that parameter. - You cannot set up FKs between 2 tables where one is stored using MySQL Cluster and the other InnoDB. - You cannot change primary keys through the NDB API which means that the MySQL Server actually has to simulate such operations by deleting and re-adding the row. If the PK in the parent table has a FK constraint on it then this causes non-ideal behaviour. With Restrict or No Action constraints, the change will result in an error. With Cascaded constraints, you’d want the rows in the child table to be updated with the new FK value but, the implicit delete of the row from the parent table would remove the associated rows from the child table and the subsequent implicit insert into the parent wouldn’t reinstate the child rows. For this reason, an attempt to add an ON UPDATE CASCADE where the parent column is a primary key will be rejected. Q. Does adding or dropping Foreign Keys cause downtime due to a schema change? A. Nope, this is an online operation. MySQL Cluster supports a number of on-line schema changes, ie adding and dropping indexes, adding columns, etc. Q. Where can I see an example of node.js with MySQL Cluster? A. Check out the tutorial and download the code from GitHub Q. Can I use the auto-installer to support remote deployments? How about setting up MySQL Cluster 7.2? A. Yes to both! Q. Can I get a demo Check out the tutorial. You can download the code from http://labs.mysql.com/ Go to Select Build drop-down box Q. What is be minimum internet speen required for Geo distributed cluster with synchronous replication? A. if you're splitting you cluster between sites then we recommend a network latency of 20ms or less. Alternatively, use MySQL asynchronous replication where the latency of your WAN doesn't impact the latency of your reads/writes. Q. Where you can one learn more about the PayPal project with MySQL Cluster? A. Take a look at the following - you'll find press coverage, a video and slides from their keynote presentation  So, if you want to learn more, listen to the new MySQL Cluster 7.3 on-demand webinar  MySQL Cluster 7.3 is still in the development phase, so it would be great to get your feedback on these new features, and things you want to see!

  • MySQL Connector/Net 6.4.6 Maintenance Release has been released

    - by fernando
MySQL Connector/Net 6.4.6, a new version of the all-managed .NET driver for MySQL has been released.  This is a maintenance release and is recommended for use in production environments. It is appropriate for use with MySQL server versions 5.0-5.6. This is intended to be the final release for Connector/NET 6.4. It is now available in source and binary form from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/net/#downloads and mirror sites (note that not all mirror sites may be up to date at this point-if you can't find this version on some mirror, please try again later or choose another download site.) The 6.4.6 version of MySQL Connector/Net brings the following fixes: - Fix for List.Contains generates a bunch of ORs instead of more efficient IN clause in   LINQ to Entities (Oracle bug #14016344, MySql bug #64934). - Fix for error when trying to change the name of an Index on the Indexes/Keys editor; along with this fix now users can change the Index type of a new Index which could not be done   in previous versions, and when changing the Index name the change is reflected on the list view at the left side of the Index/Keys editor (Oracle bug #13613801). - Fix for stored procedure call using only its name with EF code first (MySql bug #64999, Oracle bug #14008699). - Fix for performance issue in generated EF query: .NET StartsWith/Contains/EndsWith produces MySql's locate instead of Like (MySql bug #64935, Oracle bug #14009363). - Fix for script generated for code first contains wrong alter table and wrong declaration for byte[] (MySql bug #64216, Oracle bug #13900091). - Fix for Exception thrown when using cascade delete in an EDM Model-First in Entity Framework (Oracle bug #14008752, MySql bug #64779). - Fix for Session locking issue with MySqlSessionStateStore (MySql bug #63997, Oracble bug #13733054). - Fixed deleting a user profile using Profile provider (MySQL bug #64409, Oracle bug #13790123). - Fix for bug Cannot Create an Entity with a Key of Type String (MySQL bug #65289, Oracle bug #14540202). This fix checks if the type has a FixedLength facet set in order to create a char otherwise should create varchar, mediumtext or longtext types when using a String CLR type in Code First or Model First also tested in Database First. Unit tests added for Code First and ProviderManifest. - Fix for bug "CacheServerProperties can cause 'Packet too large' error" (MySQL Bug #66578 Orabug #14593547). - Fix for handling unnamed parameter in MySQLCommand. This fix allows the mysqlcommand to handle parameters without requiring naming (e.g. INSERT INTO Test (id,name) VALUES (?, ?) ) (MySQL Bug #66060, Oracle bug #14499549). - Fixed inheritance on Entity Framework Code First scenarios. Discriminator column is created using its correct type as varchar(128) (MySql bug #63920 and Oracle bug #13582335). - Fixed "Trying to customize column precision in Code First does not work" (MySql bug #65001, Oracle bug #14469048). - Fixed bug ASP.NET Membership database fails on MySql database UTF32 (MySQL bug #65144, Oracle bug #14495292). - Fix for MySqlCommand.LastInsertedId holding only 32 bit values (MySql bug #65452, Oracle bug #14171960) by changing   several internal declaration of lastinsertid from int to long. - Fixed "Decimal type should have digits at right of decimal point", now default is 2, but user's changes in   EDM designer are recognized (MySql bug #65127, Oracle bug #14474342). - Fix for NullReferenceException when saving an uninitialized row in Entity Framework (MySql bug #66066, Oracle bug #14479715). - Fix for error when calling RoleProvider.RemoveUserFromRole(): causes an exception due to a wrong table being used (MySql bug #65805, Oracle bug #14405338). - Fix for "Memory Leak on MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlCommand", too many MemoryStream's instances created (MySql bug #65696, Oracle bug #14468204). - Small improvement on MySqlPoolManager CleanIdleConnections for better mysqlpoolmanager idlecleanuptimer at startup (MySql bug #66472 and Oracle bug #14652624). - Fix for bug TIMESTAMP values are mistakenly represented as DateTime with Kind = Local (Mysql bug #66964, Oracle bug #14740705). - Fix for bug Keyword not supported. Parameter name: AttachDbFilename (Mysql bug #66880, Oracle bug #14733472). - Added support to MySql script file to retrieve data when using "SHOW" statements. - Fix for Package Load Failure in Visual Studio 2005 (MySql bug #63073, Oracle bug #13491674). - Fix for bug "Unable to connect using IPv6 connections" (MySQL bug #67253, Oracle bug #14835718). - Added auto-generated values for Guid identity columns (MySql bug #67450, Oracle bug #15834176). - Fix for method FirstOrDefault not supported in some LINQ to Entities queries (MySql bug #67377, Oracle bug #15856964). • Uninstalling MySQL for MariaDB Replacement on cPanel

    - by ImmortalFirefly
Well the first part of my day was spent researching how to remove MySQL to install MariaDB and the second part of my day was spent trying to reinstall MySQL cause something was messed up. So now I come to the masses for some help. I have a box with cPanel/WHM on it. CentOS 5.6 64 bit. I have upgraded (through WHM) MySQL to 5.5.24 and that was successful. After some research, the options I found were an intimidating Linux command with pipes greps and dashes, and another command yum remove mysql I tried that out and it appeared to remove mysql.....ish. I tried installing MariaDB from this instructions page and it started to do it's thing and then came the zillions of errors (here's a small sample): Transaction Check Error: file /etc/init.d/mysql from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/bin/mysql_convert_table_format from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/bin/mysql_install_db from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/bin/mysql_secure_installation from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/bin/mysqlbug from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/bin/mysqld_multi from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/bin/mysqld_safe from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/bin/mysqldumpslow from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/bin/mysqlhotcopy from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/share/man/man1/innochecksum.1.gz from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/share/man/man1/my_print_defaults.1.gz from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/share/man/man1/myisam_ftdump.1.gz from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/share/man/man1/myisamchk.1.gz from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/share/man/man1/myisamlog.1.gz from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 So it appeared that MySQL wasn't removed correctly. I've read from different tutorials given on different sites that to install MariaDB, you had to uninstall/remove MySQL and there weren't any commands given on how to do this. Does anyone know how to "safely" remove MySQL on a WHM/cPanel server so that I can install MariaDB? Here's my repo file in case anyone needs to know... # MariaDB repository list - created 2012-07-10 17:09 UTC # http://downloads.mariadb.org/mariadb/repositories/ [mariadb] name = MariaDB baseurl = http://yum.mariadb.org/5.5/centos5-x86 gpgcheck=1

  • Double MySQL Running on Mountain Lion

    - by Norris
After I've done a full restart, my Apache PHP server doesn't connect to Local MySQL ( connecting via 127.0.0.1 because localhost for some reason fails always ). So I did this today: ? ~ mysqladmin shutdown -u root -p Enter password: ? ~ mysqladmin shutdown -u root -p Enter password: mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)' Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/tmp/mysql.sock' exists! Which basically means that I succeeded in shutting down mysql. But as soon as I did - Apache PHP successfully connect to MySQL and my local sites work without a hiccup until the next restart. Here are a few other details: (as you can tell - I've installed MySQL via brew) ? ~ sudo ps aux | grep mysql N 4774 0.0 0.0 2432768 620 s000 S+ 9:53AM 0:00.00 grep mysql N 4772 0.0 2.6 3030168 440688 ?? Apache doesn't connect. Then, when I run: ? ~ sudo mysqladmin shutdown -u root -p Enter password: Apache is (again) able to successfully connect to MySQL. As far as I understand this means that I have two mysql servers setup and both of them are trying to start up at the same time, but I don't have the slightest idea on how to fix it. I've tried brew reinstalling but that didn't help. ? ~ which mysqladmin /usr/local/bin/mysqladmin ? ~ whence -p mysql /usr/local/bin/mysql

  • Why are symbolic links not working in MySQL?

    - by Eno
    I'm having an issue, I searched a lot but I'm not sure if it's related to a previous security patch. On the last version of MySQL on Debian Lenny ( 5.0.51a-24 ) I need to share one table between two db, those two db are in the same path ( /var/lib/mysql/db1 & db2 ). I created symbolic links for db2 pointing to the table in db1. When I query the same table from db2 I get this : 'ERROR 1030 (HY000): Got error 140 from storage engine' This is how it looks : test-lan:/var/lib/mysql/test3# ls -alh drwx------ 2 mysql mysql 4.0K 2010-08-30 13:28 . drwxr-xr-x 6 mysql mysql 4.0K 2010-08-30 13:29 .. lrwxrwxrwx 1 mysql mysql 28 2010-08-30 13:28 blbl.frm -> /var/lib/mysql/test/blbl.frm lrwxrwxrwx 1 mysql mysql 28 2010-08-30 13:28 blbl.MYD -> /var/lib/mysql/test/blbl.MYD lrwxrwxrwx 1 mysql mysql 28 2010-08-30 13:28 blbl.MYI -> /var/lib/mysql/test/blbl.MYI -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 65 2010-08-30 13:24 db.opt I really need those symlinks, is there a way to make them working like before ?   • MySQL taking a long time to start

    - by Dscoduc
I'm running Windows Server 2008 with MySQL installed and every time I reboot the server the MySQL Service doesn't start right away. A look into the Windows Eventlog shows that the MySQL Service was hung at startup. Looking at the Services.msc console shows the service state at Starting... Eventually, like 10 minutes, the MySQL Service actually finishes the startup process and the database becomes available for my Wordpress server... I looked at the MySQL .err files and didn't find anything that would indicate a delay in the statup process... Can anyone suggest a way to determine what is causing the delay, and more importantly, how to prevent the delay in the MySQL Startup? UPDATE: Here is the .err log contents from the shutdown to the startup complete. Notice the startup begins at 10:30:00 and the MySQL isn't ready for connections until 10:47:14, a full 17 minutes later: 100322 10:27:06 [Note] C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin\mysqld: Normal shutdown 100322 10:27:06 [Note] Event Scheduler: Purging the queue. 0 events 100322 10:27:06 InnoDB: Starting shutdown... 100322 10:27:08 InnoDB: Shutdown completed; log sequence number 4 3854351346 100322 10:27:08 [Warning] Forcing shutdown of 1 plugins 100322 10:27:08 [Note] C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin\mysqld: Shutdown complete 100322 10:30:00 [Note] Plugin 'FEDERATED' is disabled. 100322 10:30:01 InnoDB: Started; log sequence number 4 3854351346 100322 10:47:14 [Note] Event Scheduler: Loaded 0 events 100322 10:47:14 [Note] C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin\mysqld: ready for connections. We are therefore extremely excited to announce that Foreign Keys are part of the first Labs Release of MySQL Cluster 7.3 – available for download, evaluation and feedback now! (Select the mysql-cluster-7.3-labs-June-2012 build) In this blog, I will attempt to discuss the design rationale, implementation, configuration and steps to get started in evaluating the first MySQL Cluster 7.3 Labs Release. Pace of Innovation It was only a couple of months ago that we announced the General Availability (GA) of MySQL Cluster 7.2, delivering 1 billion Queries per Minute, with 70x higher cross-shard JOIN performance, Memcached NoSQL key-value API and cross-data center replication.  This release has been a huge hit, with downloads and deployments quickly reaching record levels. The announcement of the first MySQL Cluster 7.3 Early Access lab release at today's MySQL Innovation Day event demonstrates the continued pace in Cluster development, and provides an opportunity for the community to evaluate and feedback on new features they want to see. What’s the Plan for MySQL Cluster 7.3? Well, Foreign Keys, as you may have gathered by now (!), and this is the focus of this first Labs Release. As with MySQL Cluster 7.2, we plan to publish a series of preview releases for 7.3 that will incrementally add new candidate features for a final GA release (subject to usual safe harbor statement below*), including: - New NoSQL APIs; - Features to automate the configuration and provisioning of multi-node clusters, on premise or in the cloud; - Performance and scalability enhancements; - Taking advantage of features in the latest MySQL 5.x Server GA. Design Rationale MySQL Cluster is designed as a “Not-Only-SQL” database. It combines attributes that enable users to blend the best of both relational and NoSQL technologies into solutions that deliver web scalability with 99.999% availability and real-time performance, including: Concurrent NoSQL and SQL access to the database; Auto-sharding with simple scale-out across commodity hardware; Multi-master replication with failover and recovery both within and across data centers; Shared-nothing architecture with no single point of failure; Online scaling and schema changes; ACID compliance and support for complex queries, across shards. Native support for Foreign Key constraints enables users to extend the benefits of MySQL Cluster into a broader range of use-cases, including: - Packaged applications in areas such as eCommerce and Web Content Management that prescribe databases with Foreign Key support. - In-house developments benefiting from Foreign Key constraints to simplify data models and eliminate the additional application logic needed to maintain data consistency and integrity between tables. Implementation The Foreign Key functionality is implemented directly within MySQL Cluster’s data nodes, allowing any client API accessing the cluster to benefit from them – whether using SQL or one of the NoSQL interfaces (Memcached, C++, Java, JPA or HTTP/REST.) The core referential actions defined in the SQL:2003 standard are implemented: CASCADE RESTRICT NO ACTION SET NULL In addition, the MySQL Cluster implementation supports the online adding and dropping of Foreign Keys, ensuring the Cluster continues to serve both read and write requests during the operation. An important difference to note with the Foreign Key implementation in InnoDB is that MySQL Cluster does not support the updating of Primary Keys from within the Data Nodes themselves - instead the UPDATE is emulated with a DELETE followed by an INSERT operation. Therefore an UPDATE operation will return an error if the parent reference is using a Primary Key, unless using CASCADE action, in which case the delete operation will result in the corresponding rows in the child table being deleted. The Engineering team plans to change this behavior in a subsequent preview release. Also note that when using InnoDB "NO ACTION" is identical to "RESTRICT". In the case of MySQL Cluster “NO ACTION” means “deferred check”, i.e. the constraint is checked before commit, allowing user-defined triggers to automatically make changes in order to satisfy the Foreign Key constraints. Configuration There is nothing special you have to do here – Foreign Key constraint checking is enabled by default. If you intend to migrate existing tables from another database or storage engine, for example from InnoDB, there are a couple of best practices to observe: 1. Analyze the structure of the Foreign Key graph and run the ALTER TABLE ENGINE=NDB in the correct sequence to ensure constraints are enforced 2. Alternatively drop the Foreign Key constraints prior to the import process and then recreate when complete. Getting Started Read this blog for a demonstration of using Foreign Keys with MySQL Cluster.  You can download MySQL Cluster 7.3 Labs Release with Foreign Keys today - (select the mysql-cluster-7.3-labs-June-2012 build) If you are new to MySQL Cluster, the Getting Started guide will walk you through installing an evaluation cluster on a singe host (these guides reflect MySQL Cluster 7.2, but apply equally well to 7.3) Post any questions to the MySQL Cluster forum where our Engineering team will attempt to assist you. Post any bugs you find to the MySQL bug tracking system (select MySQL Cluster from the Category drop-down menu) And if you have any feedback, please post them to the Comments section of this blog. Summary MySQL Cluster 7.2 is the GA, production-ready release of MySQL Cluster. This first Labs Release of MySQL Cluster 7.3 gives you the opportunity to preview and evaluate future developments in the MySQL Cluster database, and we are very excited to be able to share that with you. Let us know how you get along with MySQL Cluster 7.3, and other features that you want to see in future releases. * Safe Harbor Statement This information is intended to outline our general product direction. • How to log error queries in mysql?

    - by user271768
I know that there is general_log that logs all queries, but I want to find out which query has an error, and get the error message. I have tried running an error query on purpose, but it logs as a normal query and doesn't report it with error. Any ideas?

  • mySQL: Select WHERE causes error - why?

    - by Industrial
Hi everybody, I have this query: SELECT `manufacturers`.*, `languages`.*, COUNT(`products`.`id`) AS productcount FROM (`manufacturers`) WHERE manufacturers.flushed = 0 JOIN `languages` ON `manufacturers`.`lang` = `languages`.`id` LEFT OUTER JOIN `products` ON `products`.`manuf` = `manufacturers`.`mid` GROUP BY manufacturers.id ORDER BY `languages`.`id` asc, `manufacturers`.`mid` asc; Without the WHERE row, everything works great, but with it, I get a Error 1064 (Syntax error) thrown in my face. I guess that it has something to do with the actual placement of the WHERE row in the query, so I tried to move it around, but without any luck. What can I do?

I used these instructions to install: http://www.macminivault.com/mysql-mountain-lion/ I set my own password for all users here: GRANT ALL ON *.* TO 'root'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'mypass' WITH GRANT OPTION; quit Every time i try to execute mySQL as a root user on the command line i get this: Ciarans-MacBook-Pro:~ callanmooneys$ mysql -u root ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) I read around on the net and tried various things including tried this to change password: mysqladmin -u root -pyourcurrentmysqlrootpassword password yournewmysqlrootpassword, it returns -> -> USE mysql -> If i simply type 'mysql' and launch the mySQL monitor then try to crete a user account: mysql> USE mysql ERROR 1044 (42000): Access denied for user ''@'localhost' to database 'mysql' mysql> Also tried answers on forum: access is denied for user 'root'@localhost mysql error 1045 returned '[email protected].1 command not found And MySQL - ERROR 1045 - Access denied: Ciarans-MacBook-Pro:~ callanmooneys$ mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables 131105 21:44:41 mysqld_safe Logging to '/usr/local/mysql/data/Ciarans-MacBook-Pro.local.err'. 131105 21:44:41 mysqld_safe Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /usr/local/mysql/data /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld_safe: line 129: /usr/local/mysql/data/Ciarans-MacBook-Pro.local.err: Permission denied /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld_safe: line 166: /usr/local/mysql/data/Ciarans-MacBook-Pro.local.err: Permission denied 131105 21:44:41 mysqld_safe mysqld from pid file /usr/local/mysql/data/Ciarans-MacBook-Pro.local.pid ended /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld_safe: line 129: /usr/local/mysql/data/Ciarans-MacBook-Pro.local.err: Permission denied Ciarans-MacBook-Pro:~ callanmooneys$ mysql -u root ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) Ciarans-MacBook-Pro:~ callanmooneys$ Feedback appreciated.

  • How to add 1 to the value of a column of an existing row in mysql

    - by mithun1538
Hello everyone, I have a table called pollData. It will always contain only 1 row. It has columns option1, option2, option3, option4, option5 each of type int. In the beginning, these columns have 0 as their value. How do I add 1 to any column, say option2? I mean do i retrieve the value of that column first, perform addition, and store back, or is there any auto increment function?

  • MySQL & PHP Parameter 1 as Resource

    - by Nik
Alright, PHP is throwing this error at me (in the log) when I run the code mentioned below: Error mysql_num_rows() expects parameter 1 to be resource, string given in (place) on line 10 Line 9-11 $queryFP = ("SELECT * FROM db"); $countFP = mysql_num_rows($queryFP); $aID = rand(1, $countFP); I think it has something to do with the $queryFP's syntax, but I'm not completely sure how to fix it since $queryFP's syntax is the simplest query I've ever seen.
