  • How can I match end-of-line multiple times in a regex without interpolation?

    - by harschware
Hi, if I have a input with new lines in it like: [INFO] xyz [INFO] How can I pull out the xyz part? I tried a pattern like /^\[INFO\]$(.*?)$\[INFO\]/ms, but perl gives me: Use of uninitialized value $\ in regexp compilation at scripts\t.pl line 6. I've been trying things to get interpolation to stop like using qr// but alas, no love. EDIT: The key is that the end-of-line anchor is a dollar sign but at times it may be necessary to intersperse the end-of-line anchor through the pattern. If the pattern is interpolating then you might get problems such as uninitialized $\. For instance an acceptable solution here is /^\[INFO\]\s*^(.*?)\s*^\[INFO\]/ms but that does not solve the crux of the first problem. I've changed the anchors to be ^ so there is no interpolation going on, and with this input I'm free to do that. But what about when I really do want to reference EOL with $ in my pattern? How do I get the regex to compile?

  • How to save optimized png images with java's ImageIO?

    - by Christoph
I am generating lots of images in java and saving them through the ImageIO.write method like this: final BufferedImage img = createSomeImage(); ImageIO.write( img, "png", new File( "/some/file.png" ); I was happy with the results until Google's firefox addon 'Page Speed' told me that i can save up to 60% of the size if i optimize the images. The images are QR codes, their size is around 900B each and the firefox-plugin optimized versions are around 300B. I'd like to save such optimized 300B Images directly from java. So here my question again: How to save optimized png images with java's ImageIO?

  • News, Perspektiven und jede Menge Gesprächsstoff - Der Oracle Partner Day 2012

    - by A&C Redaktion

  • Stop Saying "Multi-Channel!"

    - by David Dorf
I keep hearing the term "multi-channel" in our industry, but its time to move on. It kinda reminds me of the term "ECR" or electronic cash register. Long ago ECR was a leading-edge term, but nowadays its rarely used because its table-stakes. After all, what cash register today isn't electronic? The same logic applies to multi-channel, at least when we're talking about tier-1 and tier-2 retailers. If you're still talking about multi-channel retailing, you're in big trouble. Some have switched over to the term "cross-channel," and that's a step in the right direction but still falls short. Its kinda like saying, "I upgraded my ECR to accept debit cards!" Yawn. Who hasn't? Today's retailers need to focus on omni-channel, which I first heard from my friends over at RSR but was originally coined at IDC. First retailers added e-commerce to their store and catalog channels yielding multi-channel retailing. Consumers could use the channel that worked best for them. Then some consumers wanted to combine channels with features like buy-on-the-Web, pickup-in-the-store. Thus began the cross-channel initiatives to breakdown the silos and enable the channels to communicate with each other. But the multi-channel architecture is full of duplication that thwarts efforts of providing a consistent experience. Each has its own cart, its own pricing, and often its own CRM. This was an outcrop of trying to bring the independent channels to market quickly. Rather than reusing and rebuilding existing components to meet the new demands, silos were created that continue to exist today. Today's consumers want omni-channel retailing. They want to interact with brands in a consistent manner that is channel transparent, yet optimized for that particular interaction. The diagram below, from the soon-to-be-released NRF Mobile Blueprint v2, shows this progression. For retailers to provide an omni-channel experience, there needs to be one logical representation of products, prices, promotions, and customers across all channels. The only thing that varies is the presentation of the content based on the delivery mechanism (e.g. shelf labels, mobile phone, web site, print, etc.) and often these mechanisms can be combined in various ways. I'm looking forward to the day in which I can use my phone to scan QR-codes in a catalog to create a shopping cart of items. Then do some further research on the retailer's Web site and be told about related items that might interest me. Be able to easily solicit opinions and reviews from social sites, and finally enter the store to pickup my items, knowing that any applicable coupons have been applied. In this scenario, I the consumer are dealing with a single brand that is aware of me and my needs throughout the entire transaction. Nirvana.

  • nameserver spoiling avahi multicast name resolution of .local domain

    - by Doug Coburn
After trying to ping a machine on my local network, I noticed that I was trying hit address 66.152.109.24. This is an external public address. Resolution should have occurred via avahi mDNS. I ran dig to see how the name resolution worked and my quest/centurylink name server was retuning results for my .local domain queries! I tried a random name and got the same ip address result. $ dig jakdafj.local ; <<>> DiG 9.8.1-P1-RedHat-9.8.1-3.P1.fc15 <<>> jakdafj.local ;; global options: +cmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 58410 ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 2, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;jakdafj.local. • emule algorithm and how to get fast download speed.

    - by Benjamin
Actually, I use amule in ubuntu. Because emule users are much more, I wrote emule in this title. But whatever emule or amule, it's okay. Both of them are very similar. I want to get fast-download speed as much as I can. But I don't understand emule(or amule)'s detail functions and algorithms. These are always very qurious to me. If I provide higher upload-speed or more valuable files to other people, can I get benefit?(My download speed) Is serverlist important? Does it cause my download-speed? I captured a image for my amule. Please explain these columns and let me know your tips for getting fast speed. What does 8/9+23 mean in the Source column? What does 294/300(1) mean in the Source column? What does QR:608(0) mean in the Priority? What do I do for getting fast download speed as much as I can get? You can also explain other columns.

  • Can I use CNAME with ip address? Why If works (sometimes)?

    - by Maciek Sawicki
I believe that the easiest answer for the first question is "No, You have "A" for this", but I accidentally setup some subdomain using CNAME pointing to ip address and it worked on few computers in my office. I wonder how it was possible? Now, when I'm checking it from home I have following error: beast:~ viroos$ host somesubdomain.somedomain.com Host somesubdomain.somedomain.com not found: 3(NXDOMAIN) I'm 100% it used to work at my office (currently it looks like it doesn't, but I'm checking it on different machine). Therefore I'm not 100% if it worked due to some special network setup or because I tested it just after adding DNS entry. I know this story sounds, a little crazy/incredibly, but can someone help me solve this puzzle. //edit: I'm adding dig output ; <<>> DiG 9.6-ESV-R4-P3 <<>> somesubdomain.somedomain.com ;; global options: +cmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NXDOMAIN, id: 60224 ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 1, ADDITIONAL: 0 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;somesubdomain.somedomain.com. Hello, I am running dd-wrt and I configured it's dns server to resolve a few hosts inside my network. • Mailgun Is Not Detecting My New MX Records

I know it said to wait up to twenty-four to forty-eight hours. But I feel that if it detected the other DNS changes, then it should detect the MX record changes. Am I being impatient or is this a legitimate concern? What do you suggest I do? Note: I'd create a Mailgun tag for this; I feel that it'd be appropriate, but I don't have enough reputation to do so.

Pinging some sites results in ping pinging 127.0.0.1. e.g. #> ping authserver.mojang.com PING authserver.mojang.com (127.0.0.1) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1): icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.045 ms 64 bytes from localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1): icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.043 ms 64 bytes from localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1): icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.058 ms --- authserver.mojang.com ping statistics --- 3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 2000ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.043/0.048/0.058/0.010 ms Dig, however correctly returns the following: # dig authserver.mojang.com ; <<>> DiG 9.9.3-P2 <<>> authserver.mojang.com ;; global options: +cmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 15800 ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 1 ;; OPT PSEUDOSECTION: ; EDNS: version: 0, flags:; udp: 512 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;authserver.mojang.com.   • Mac OS X - Time Machine backup fails verification - What can I do to save the history?

    - by usermac75
Hi, How do I make Time Machine to make a new complete backup without losing older versions of backed up files? Verbose: I am using the Time Machine backup on my OS X (Snow Leopard) to backup the whole computer to an external drive. I especially like the "history", i.e. the feature that allows you to restore the older version of a file. Problem: I had some data corruption on my external backup drive, I repaired it with the System Tool for doing that, it found some faults. I had the disk tool repair the external drive. After that, the external drive was OK and I could use Time Machine again. I let Time Machine do one more backup. Now I made a verification according to http://superuser.com/questions/47628/verifying-time-machine-backups, namely along sudo diff -qr . $HOME/Desktop 2>&1 | tee $HOME/timemachine-diff.log However: After doing the command above, several differences and missing files were reported, approx. 200 files in sum. Whereas some of the missing files were cache or excluded directories, the differences do bother me, especially as some important documents from me are listed as differing. How can I make sure that the data on the external drive is synced correctly? Is it possible to have Time Machine to do a complete new backup without losing the history? Or to have Time Machine compare all files for differences and re-write all files that are different? Or can I set some flags on the files that do not match to have them copied again? (like the archive-flag in Windows/Dos). I'd rather not touch the files because I would like to keep the date of last change/date of creation) Thank you for your thoughts!

  • What is wrong with my DNS entries?

    - by matheus
I have some problems with a domain not working as expected. My registrar's controlpanel shows these records for mydomain.eu: www A 111.222.333.444 * A 111.222.333.444 I use the nameservers of my registrar. I get a correct answer if i do dig www.mydomain.eu dig whatever.mydomain.eu I can also ping/visit website etc with those adresses. But, dig mydomain.eu wont resolve to anything. I just get this: ; <<>> DiG 9.6-ESV-R1 <<>> mydomain.eu ;; global options: +cmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 46837 ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 1, ADDITIONAL: 0 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;mydomain.eu. What am I missing here?

  • please explain these mongo statistics

    - by sivann
My setup: I have 2 hosts, and 2 shards each. Host1 has 2 shards, and is the master of the replicas host2 has the secondaries of the 2 shards. . host1: shard1 (repset1),shard2 (repset2) host2: shard1 (repset1),shard2 (repset2) There's also a 3rd host that acts as arbitrer. I have 50 threads writing randomly to both shards (using a hash) via mongos with REPLICA_SAFE WriteConcern set on each insert. The questions: mongostat displays about 90% locked for both shards in host1 and about 1% locked on host2. Since I use REPLICA_SAFE which supposedly writes to both servers shouldn't the locks be the same? mongostat reports qr=30 for both shards of host1, and qw=0 always. Since I perform only writes how is this possible? Moreover on host2 all queues are reported 0. Faults are abut the same in all shards/hosts (arround 80). netIn/netOut on the secondaries (host2) are always about 200bytes/sec. Too low. mongos has 53 connections, host1's shards have 71 and 71 and host2's shards have 9 and 8. How is this? Please answer whatever you can. Thanks!

  • Yet another "What is this code doing"-type of Perl code

    - by Mike
I have inherited some code from a guy whose favorite past time was to shorten every line to its absolute minimum (and sometimes only to make it look cool). His code is hard to understand but I managed to understand (and rewrite) most of it. Now I have stumbled on a piece of code which, no matter how hard I try, I cannot understand. my @heads = grep {s/\.txt$//} OSA::Fast::IO::Ls->ls($SysKey,'fo','osr/tiparlo',qr{^\d+\.txt$}) || (); my @selected_heads = (); for my $i (0..1) { $selected_heads[$i] = int rand scalar @heads; for my $j (0..@heads-1) { last if (!grep $j eq $_, @selected_heads[0..$i-1]); $selected_heads[$i] = ($selected_heads[$i] + 1) % @heads; #WTF? } my $head_nr = sprintf "%04d", $i; OSA::Fast::IO::Cp->cp($SysKey,'',"osr/tiparlo/$heads[$selected_heads[$i]].txt","$recdir/heads/$head_nr.txt"); OSA::Fast::IO::Cp->cp($SysKey,'',"osr/tiparlo/$heads[$selected_heads[$i]].cache","$recdir/heads/$head_nr.cache"); } From what I can understand, this is supposed to be some kind of randomizer, but I never saw a more complex way to achieve randomness. Or are my assumptions wrong? At least, that's what this code is supposed to do. Select 2 random files and copy them. === NOTES === The OSA Framework is a Framework of our own. They are named after their UNIX counterparts and do some basic testing so that the application does not need to bother with that.
