    Hello all, Recently, I could not access the webpage bbc.co.uk anymore, while I can access other websites smoothly. Ar first, I though there may be some problem with my laptop. However, if I use my laptop through my company network, I can load the page bbc.co.uk normally. Then, I though maybe my ADSL at home blocks that web address. However, I tried another laptop with my home ADSL and it can load the page bbc.co.uk very fast. Now I do not know what could be the problem. Can anyone tell me please? Thank you.

    I have an internal DNS as part of my AD setup. I have an hosted DNS for public resources (which are typically at some data centre somewhere) Occasionally while on our internal network I need to get to a public resource --- for example www.ourcompany.com since there isn't a www record in our internal DNS I cant get the name resolved. How do I configure my DNS to forward names it doesn't recognise to the public DNS. Update: As per the comment yes I have a "split-horizon" dns (which seemed like a good idea at the time) This AD setup is less than 24 hours old, and can be redone if need be -- (although I would rather not)

  • Cannot resolve dependencies when trying to install gnome-libs or xscreensaver on linux

    I am a linux noob and am trying to install ORacle10g on RHEL5 but am running into difficulties on the requirements stage. The only 2 packages I require is gnome-libs and xscreensaver. I have downloaded both: 'gnome-libs-1.4.1.2.90-44.1.i386.rpm 'xscreensaver-4.18-5.rhel4.11.i386.rpm' But when I try to install them I get dependency errors. I have been trawling sites and forums for 2 days now and am no closer to resolving this and continuing with my Oracle install. To pre-empt possible trouble-shooting questions, here is a list of the dependcies that could not be resolved: For gnome-libs: libdb.so.2(GLIBC_2.0) ORBit libdb.so.2 libllOP.so.0 libORBitCosNaming.so.0 libORBitutil.so.0 libORBit.so.0 libpng.so.2 And it says all the above is needed by package 1:gnome-libs-1.4.1.2.90-44.1.i386(/gnome-libs-1.4.1.2.90-44.1.i386) For xscreensaver: xloadimage is needed by package 1:xscreensaver-4.18-5.rhel4.11.i386(/xscreensaver-4.18-5.rhel4.11.i386) Sorry if I have explained this in a crap way - like I said - linux noob here. Any help with this would be great, its been a long 2 days so far - i need to get this resolved soon. Thanks

  • GNS3 Cannot ping/resolve DNS record

    I set up an internet lab with GNS3, which has 3 routers, in each node there is a computer directly connected. One of the hosts is a DNS server, Windows 2003 Server. The other one is a Windows XP machine. Ping is good between routers and machines but no ability to ping domain.com record on DNS server 2003. I set a static nat on the router to route all traffic from gateway to the DNS server internal ip address, still no answer for the dns request. Any ideas or thoughts will be most welcome.

    How can I find out to which filepath (or alias) a certain command input will point to, in the Windows command prompt? Specifically Windows XP, info on other versions also appreciated! On Unix systems I simply use: $ which commandname /a/commandname Or: $ type -a commandname commandname is aliased to `/b/commandname' commandname is /a/commandname commandname is /b/commandname And I am simply looking for the equivalent in the Windows Shell (specifically Win XP). I came to this general question, from a specific issue: I had installed robocopy.exe (version 026), but the command line "robocopy" always triggers version 010, and I would like to determine where this command points to, in order to correct this mistake.

I am in no mans land as I am a developer and not a sys admin but I have to assume many roles. So I'm reaching out for help. Sometimes I will see hundreds of these 'C0000005' scriptengine errors in the event log in a matter of seconds and other times just a few times an hour. I googled this line 'ASP!CACTIVESCRIPTENGINE::GETAPPLICATION' and got nothing. Its like the function don't exist or something.   • Proxy auto-config dnsResolve doesn't seem to resolve subdomains

    We're running on a Windows domain, and have a DNS to control computer names on our intranet. The following PAC works great for basic hostnames on our intranet - but we're setting up some subdomain-like names (example, redesign.buildbox), and it isn't resolving these. These subdomains are resolvable through other means (such as nslookup). Other than checking to see if the host has ".buildbox" or other domain, is there a way to make it work?   • DNS resolve .com domain on local domain

    I'm building a local 2008 R2 domain as a test case to be able to write a roadmap for the real new domain that needs to be created soon. What I would like to know if I'm able to make a record in DNS that will point the domain name: www.example.com and example.com to one of the servers in my network. I tried creating an a-record for it but that doesn't work. To be honest I'm not even sure if this is possible? So can I do this? That way I would be able to fully test all our services (and webb app) offline before I build the real domain and switch the DNS records at the provider. Some advice if possible and where to start is appreciated. The solution (Thanks Brent): Create new Forward lookup zone pointing to example.com Create empty A record pointing to IP of the webserver you are targeting If www is needed create A record with Name: www and IP of your webserver sub domains repeat the process but then with names for example: sub or www.sub (and ip your webserver) Be aware of the DNS Cache while you are in this process. Things can take time or do the following: Right click the server and choose clear cache in CMD: ipconfig /flushdns (to flush the client cache)

  • PCs on domain can not resolve external IP addresses using the DC's DNS Server

    I currently have a domain controller which handles all DHCP and DNS. The DHCP works just fine and the domain controller itself can use the internet with no issues. However, PCs that are part of the domain are not able to use external websites, only internal. Does anyone have any way I can solve this issue?     I have a server setup with nginx serving static content and proxy all PHP/dynamic requests to apache on 127.0.0.1 I'm building an API for my databases, and I need to allow clients by their origin (domain name), rather than just IP. Based on CORS rules. So when I send an HTTP header header("Access-Control-Allow-Origin: www.client-requesting.myapi.com"); from my API server, I have to tell it which origin I allow, otherwise client side requests won't work to my API due to same-origin policy. The question is how can I know which domain name (if any) called my API? What should be the nginx and apache configuration to pass the origin parameter? I tried to google, and all I found is some possible solution with mod_rpaf, but I wanted to be sure. Thanks!

  • How to resolve problematic vnc/xming clipboard interaction?

    I often have both a VNC client window and several X windows open (via Xming) at the same time on my Windows XP desktop. When this happens, the X windows, especially emacs and firefox, often lock up or behave erratically. I am pretty sure I have narrowed this down to contention over the clipboard. I wasn't really able to find any options controlling this behavior in either Xming or VNC. Is there a solution to this problem? Right now, I have to close VNC when I am actively using emacs...

    I am debugging a problem where MoinMoin on CentOS is throwing a permissions error, but I can't track down where the problematic file / directory is. I know I could try to catch all the file opens when I respawn apache, but I'm hoping there is a way to map file 7 to a real filename... is there a way to do this?

    I installed Squid 2.7 to act as a web cache on my laptop, so that I can browse previously-visited sites when I don't have WiFi. Except http_access allow all, I've made no changes to the default squid.conf configuration. When I turn offline_mode ON and disconnect from the Internet, and then I visit sites, I encounter The following error was encountered: Unable to determine IP address from host name for whatever.sitename.com The dnsserver returned: Timeout on any site I visit. What settings do I need to add to squid.conf so I can browse sites offline?

  • How to resolve 'No internet connectivity issues' with a Virtualised 2008 R2 Server using Forefront UAG

    I have spent some considerable time reading up on as many possible blogs and articles as I can to help me solve why my VM (Running on Hyper-V) for DirectAccess has suddenly stopped being able to access the internet. The VM setup shares the same internet connection on which I have written and submitted this question so I know that the actual underlying internet connection is fully functional. Previous to last week the DirectAccess was fully functional and had no issues. This is a recent problem which was led up to by a number of consistent crashes on the DA machine when access was attempted. Upon reboot all seemed well until recently. I am not certain whether it is relevant, but previously to this I had a number of power issues where the entire VM host shutdown unexpectedly leaving around 8 VM's in a bad way. Upon restart, the UAG DirectAccess machine was unable to access its configuration service (although the service was started) but this seemed to relate to the Light-Weight Active Directory Service AD LDS which had a corrupted database. Having repaired this database, I restarted the service and could subsequently reconnect to the configuration service again. For good measure I re-bound the network adapters (virtualised through Hyper-V) and DirectAccess claimed to be all happy again. However as it stands my machine is still unable to access the internet showing the "No internet connectivity" exclamation mark for the external facing NIC. I have also tried removing the adapters, disabling, re-enabling and the problem persists. The intranet part of the VM CorpNet seems to be fully functional as before and I'm running out of ideas. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I am not an advanced Domain Administrator so please be gentle.

    On Apache 2.2.x I've activated mod_userdir. I used the default setup, so that http://localhost/~name/ will be connect with ~name/public_html/ and a path within public_html, e.g. ~name/public_html/mySite can be reached through http://localhost/~name/mySite. How can I achieve, that the same path can be reached through http://mySite.name.localhost/? I don't want a manual approach like it is suggested in other SF questions (such as http://serverfault.com/q/133921/53624), but rather want an automatic mapping of all available paths to the corresponding URL. I think, several steps will need to be taken: Change mod_userdir configuration, so that the subdomain of localhost will be connected with all available user names on the machine. The second step would maybe include the usage of mod_rewrite, so that the subsubdomain could be matched to the path within ~name/public_html... What would be your prefered way?

T IP Traffic to the internet and internally is relatively stable, but the in-house application has been buggy, and dropping connections. Users report "slowness" DNS Name resolution might be the culprit or a symptom, I cannot ping workstations at the main office by name, but can ping their IP Address... Any ideas?

  • Can plugins loaded with MEF resolve their own internal dependencies with the same MEF container for

    From my experimentation, I think the answer is "kind of", but I could have made a mistake. I have an application that loads appliance plugins with MEF. That part is working fine. Now let's say that my BlenderAppliance wants to resolve several of its dependencies with MEF, which each implement IApplianceFeature. I've just used the ImportMany attribute to my plugin. I made sure to create the plugin using MEF so that the Imports work properly. I said "kind of" because some of the plugin's internals (i.e. the model) are loading with MEF just fine, but the IApplianceFeatures aren't. The difference here is that the IApplianceFeatures are themselves, assemblies. And at the moment, they are in one folder above that of the plugin itself, i.e. + application folder | IApplianceFeature1.dll | IApplianceFeature2.dll +---+ plugin folder | BlenderAppliance.dll Now if my application uses an AggregateCatalog to load the "." and ".\plugins" folders, why doesn't it ever load the IApplianceFeature assemblies for me? Is it possible / advisable to have the plugin create its own MEF container to resolve its dependencies, or does really nasty stuff happen? If you have any stories about this scenario, please share. :)

    I have three machines. one installed VS2008 another two installed SDK6 and Framework3.5 (one of these two is a build machine).     In my project I register many ISerializers implementations with the assembly scanner. FWIW this is the code that registers my ISerializers Scan(scanner => { scanner.AssemblyContainingType<ISerializer>(); scanner.AddAllTypesOf<ISerializer>().NameBy(type => type.Name); scanner.WithDefaultConventions(); }); Which then correctly registers ISerializer (...ISerializer) Scoped as: Transient JsonSerializer Configured Instance of ...JsonSerializer BsonSerializer Configured Instance of ...BsonSerializer And so forth. Currently the only way I've been able to figure out how to resolve the serializer I want is to hardcode a service location call with jsonSerializer = ObjectFactory.GetNamedInstance<ISerializer>("JsonSerializer"); Now I know in my class that I specifically want the jsonSerializer so is there a way to configure a rule or similar that says for ISerializer's to connect the named instance based on the property name? So that I could have MySomeClass(ISerializer jsonSerializer, ....) And StructureMap correctly resolve this scenario? Or am I approaching this wrong and perhaps I should just register the concrete type that implements ISerializer and then just specifically use MySomeClass(JsonSerializer jsonSerializer, ....) for something along these lines with the concrete class?

    I am trying to register some generic interfaces and resolve them . I have the registering function private static void RegisterFolderAssemblies(Type t,string folder) { var scanner = new FolderGenericInterfaceScanner(); var scanned = scanner.Scan(t,folder); // gets the implementations from a specific folder scanned.ForEach(concrete => { if (concrete.BaseType != null || concrete.IsGenericType) { myContainer.RegisterType(t, Type.GetType(concrete.AssemblyQualifiedName), concrete.AssemblyQualifiedName); } }); } which is called by the bootstrapper with RegisterFolderAssemblies(typeof(IConfigurationVerification<>),Environment.CurrentDirectory); The registration seem to go through ok but when I try to Resolve them with Type generic = typeof(IConfigurationVerification<>); Type specific = generic.MakeGenericType(input.Arguments[0].GetType()); var verifications = BootStrap.ResolveAll(specific); The input.Arguments[0] is an object of the type the generic is implemented in I also tried using typeof(IConfigurationVerification<) instead and get the same error . When ResolveAll is public static List<object> ResolveAll(Type t) { return myContainer.ResolveAll(t).ToList(); } I get a ResolutionFailedException with them message "The current type, Infrastructure.Interfaces.IConfigurationVerification`1[Infrastructure.Configuration.IMLogPlayerConfiguration+LoadDefinitions], is an interface and cannot be constructed. Are you missing a type mapping?" Any help will be great. Thanks in advance
