• How to extract hhp file from a chm file

  Hi, I have an A.chm file for my windows application which runs as expected. When I decompile it using HTML workshop I get set of html files, .hhc file, .hhk file. When I compile another file B.chm from these extracted files without changing any of the files.((I want to add more html contents to this file but looks like I am losing some information after decompiling)) The output file I get is 72K where as the original file was 75K. B.chm's contents look all file when viewed in the chm viewer but the behavior is lost when when used with the application. After reading around I found that if .hhp can be extracted from a .chm file then it can be re-constructed as it is without losing any mapping or aliases. Is that true? How can I extract .hhp file from a .chm file? Thanks, Sam

• Pasting images in TinyMCE on rails app

  Hi, I found a weird problem with TinyMCE editor. Copying & pasting images from another domain works fine but if the images are on the same domain the path are relative but not correct sometimes. I figured out that the problem is related to the rails URL scheme. Example) Images are copied from http://mydomain.com/index.html page and the real images path is http://mydomain.com/photos/image.jpg. Editor page: http://mydomain.com/posts/new = image path is set as ../photos/image.jpg http://mydomain.com/posts/edit/123 = image path is set as ../../photos/image.jpg So I tried http://mydomain.com/posts/new/ and it worked. • How do I refresh TinyMCE for the code that I add with JavaScript

  Hi, I need to insert code for flash to TinyMCE with JavaScript. If I insert the same code using HTML menu of TinyMCE, it automatically add flash icon to the editor. But if I insert the code using JavaScript, the actual code is inserted but it shows nothing on the screen. One trick I found is toggle TinyMCE to normal textarea and back to TinyMCE. Then, it shows the flash icon. Is there a better way to do that? Thanks. Sam

• White bar at the bottom of root view!

  Hi, I have two view controllers in the app. When the app starts, the layout of the root view controller's view is just fine. When a button is clicked, the view controller switches to the other one - which shows fine too. However, when the view is switched back to the root view, the contents are shifted UP by about 20 pixels, leaving a white bar at the bottom! - and it was not there when the app had started. Has anyone seen this? Any idea what's going on there? Thanks, Sam.

  Hi everybody, I'm very new to jQuery, Ajax and things like these. I've found solutions on how to inject HTML fragments into my site: $(document).ready(function(){ $('a').click(openContent); //binding all anchors to this function }); function openContent(){ var path = $(this).attr('href'); $('#content').load(path); return false; //to prevent browser from loading the single HTML fragment } That works really fine! The problem is, these function won't be executed when clicking on anchors located in the new HTML fragment which were injected right before. So the fragment won't get injected into div, the browser will only load the fragment for itself. Hope there are solutions which aren't that tricky... thanks sam

• file upload in existing site with jquery and codeigniter

  I am a new bee to ajax world. I am working on a site which uses jquery and codeigniter which processes big files like 2GB. It basically parses file and stores some extracted data from it, it uses ajax to show how far the files have been processed etc. Now I want to change the way we process files. I want to first store the file on server side and then start the processing. I evaluated upload class of codeigniter but looks like I cannot use it for this purpose as this class works with field_name and I could not find a way to make an ajax call to the upload class. I want to release a bug-fixed version v-1.0.1 of this package but while testing it, I am getting "Another version of this product is already installed Installation of this version cannot continue.To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove program on the Control Panel". • Can rails test speed be increased?

  Hi all, I'm a recent convert to TDD but as my codebase grows in size and complexity, I find myself waiting longer and longer periods for the framework to load every time I want to run a test. I am aware of rspec's spec_server but I'm using Test::Unit with shoulda. I tried Snailgun (http://github.com/candlerb/snailgun) but noticed very little increased in speed. I have also tried spork-testunit (http://github.com/timcharper/spork-testunit) but it's not fully compatible with my existing tests. The delay in running tests is a definite pain point and is putting me of TDD (at least with rails). Is anyone aware of any other options? thanks Sam

I want to restrict number of parallel threads running for this application at a given point of time. This number can be changed by user on a beefier machine. What is the best way to do this configuration and how it can be achieved. I can think of following approaches. 1. Use ConfigurationManager to read the configuration value. • Bug in Programming Interviews Exposed?

  Hi, I could not find an errata for the 2nd edition of this book. My question concerns the if-statement in the following piece of code. void removeHead (Node ** head) { Node * temp; if (!(*head)) { temp = (*head)->next; delete *head; *head = temp; } } So I understand that the point of the if-statement is to check if the Node is null. However by adding an additional "!" to the evaluation, wouldn't this negate the false value of null? Would it be correct to change it to something like: if (*head) { ... } Also if anyone knows where I can find an official errata for the 2nd edition that would be great. Thanks, Sam

  We have a Linux box (Ubuntu 12.04) running Nginx (1.5.2), which acts as a reverse proxy/load balancer to some Tornado and Apache hosts. • Focussing on Style Sheets and Cross Browser Compatibility.

  Hello everyone, Let me begin this topic by explaining my background experience with web design. I have always been more of a back end programmer, with PHP and SQL and things. However I do have a shallow background with HTML and CSS. The problem is, I don't know it all. What I do know is, when it comes to designing (not back end dirty work) I understand basic CSS properties and I also understand HTML and I can usually throw together a sloppy web page with the two and a couple bazillion DIV tags. Anyways.. The problem I always have encountered is that when I design a website in a browser such as IE7 (and then it looks perfect on IE7), and then look at it on IE8 or IE6 or Mozilla (etc.) it gets all spacey and ugly and looks totally different than the way it should look on IE7. Question one: Basically, what I am asking everyone is what route should I take to learn how to properly build the website? Build as in put it togehter with CSS standards and HTML standards that will make my site look the same on every brwoser. (Not only learning standards but where can I learn to properly write my code?) Where is a strong free resource I can use to learn how to these things? Question two: How do I properly code my website? Do I use all external style sheets to make dynamic page design simplistic or do I hard code some things into the DIV tags on each page? What is proper? Oh, and if anyone has any tutorials on how to properly design a complete layout feel free to throw it in a response somewhere. Thank you for taking the time to read my questions, and hopefully you will understand what I am trying to get out to everyone. • Rails 2.3 session

  Hi, I am developing a rails 2.3.2 app. I need to keep session_id for an order record, retrieve it and finally delete the session_id when the order is completed. It worked when I used cookies as session store but it doesn't for active_record store. (I restarted my browser, so no cache issue.) I know rails 2.3 implements lazy session load. I read some info about it but am still confused. Can somebody clarify how I use session_id for such a case? What I am doing is... A user make an order going through several pages. There is no sign-up, neither login. So I keep session_id in the order record so that no other user can access the order. @order = Order.last :conditions = {:id = params[:id], :session_id = session[:session_id] } When the order is finished, I set nil to session_id column. How would you implement such a case in lazy session(and active_record store) environment? Thanks. Sam

  Hi, I'm a beginner C# programmer, and to improve my skills I decided to give Project Euler a try. The first problem on the site asks you to find the sum of all the multiples of 3 and 5 under 1000. Since I'm essentially doing the same thing twice, I made a method to multiply a base number incrementally, and add the sum of all the answers togethor. public static int SumOfMultiplication(int Base, int limit) { bool Escape = false; for (int mult = 1; Escape == true; mult++) { int Number = 0; int iSum = 0; Number = Base * mult; if (Number > limit) return iSum; else iSum = iSum + Number; } regardless of what I put in for both parameters, it ALWAYS returns zero. • Performance impact when using XML columns in a table with MS SQL 2008

  I am using a simple table with 6 columns, 3 of which are of XML type, not schema-constrained. When the table reaches a size around 120,000 or 150,000 rows, I see a dramatic performance cost in doing any query in the table. For comparison, I have another table, which grows in size at about the same rate, but only contain scalar types (int, datetime, a few float columns). That table performs perfectly fine even after 200,000 rows. And by the way, I am not using XQuery on the xml columns, i am only using regular SQL query statements. Some specifics: both tables contain a DateTime field called SampleTime. a statement like (it's in a stored procedure but I show you the actual statement) SELECT MAX(sampleTime) SampleTime FROM dbo.MyRecords WHERE PlacementID=@somenumber takes 0 seconds on the table without xml columns, and anything from 13 to 20 seconds on the table with XML columns. That depends on which drive I set my database on. At the moment it sits on a different spindle (not C:) and it takes 13 seconds. Has anyone seen this behavior before, or have any hint at what I am doing wrong? I tried this with SQL 2008 EXPRESS and the full-blown SQL Server 2008, that made no difference. Oh, one last detail: I am doing this from a C# application, .NET 3.5, using SqlConnection, SqlReader, etc.. I'd appreciate some insight into that, thanks! Sam

  I am trying to figure out how to combine the input and output data into the ARX model and then apply it into the BIC (Bayesian Information Criterion) formula. It keep on giving me an error something like below: "The syntax "Data{...}" is not supported. Use the "getexp" command to extract individual experiments from an IDDATA object."
