  I have started with Sony PSM sdk this week. I'm interested to create a little 2D game and have been reading through the web about a so called "2D game engine" integrated in psm. Some information I read suggested that it was going to be added on january 2012, but I have been going through the documentation and haven't been able to find any reference to it. Does anybody know if they finally introduced the 2D game engien for psm? Thanks in advance.

  I'm trying to locate a driver to access my memory card inside my Sony Ericsson Walkman phone. I have 12.04 and it doesn't seem to recognize it. Ideally I would like to install the entire PC Suite that came with the phone, but I'll just settle to access the memory card so I can add music when I need too. I tried using mass storage mode, media transfer, phone mode, even print mode and still nothing.

• Sony eBook Library for Mac No Longer Displays Its Window

  I got a Sony PRS-505 reader a few weeks ago, and the Sony eBook Library 3.0 software worked fine on my Mac, until today. Now, when I launch it, the menu bar is displayed, but there is no application window and the menu items have no effect. I've reinstalled the software, but that didn't help. I've deleted ~/Library/Preferences/Sony Corporation, but that didn't help. I suppose I could start using Calibre exclusively, except it would make it difficult to buy books from Sony's ebookstore. Any ideas?

• Connecting PS3 dualshock on Ubuntu 14.04 with 3.13.0-34-generic?

  The last entries/queries I can find about PS3 dual shock controller are dealing with older kernel versions. It looks like there may still be a problem with using the PS3 dual shock via USB(or bluetooth) with 14.04? I'm only guessing because I get no sign of detection or input when I plug in the USB. When I run dmesg | grep sony [ 4687.762302] sony 0003:054C:0268.0003: can't set operational mode [ 4687.770639] sony: probe of 0003:054C:0268.0003 failed with error -38 So at this point, I don't know if it's worth running : sudo apt-get install xboxdrv I also found this article LINK but it's dated 01/2013. I was considering installing steam, and checking out some of the games. There are a few in particular I want to check out, but I'm afraid of purchasing them and then my controller does not work. I don't have a ps3, I just have the controller for Sixaxis/emulator/Android set up... I see mentions for QTsixa and xboxdrv, but the posts are at least a year old(older distibution/kernels) Ideally, I'd like to just plug in USB, and play. No Bluetooth.

• Display resolution problem with Sony TV and Intel integrated graphics

  I am trying to set the correct display resolution for my Sony TV (KDL-32V2000, native resolution 1366x768) connected via HDMI to my HTPC running Ubuntu 12.04. I have a Intel Core i3-530 and Intel mobo (DH57JG), so no proprietary graphics drivers. The problem is that I can't get the correct resolution to display on the TV. Initially I only had 1024x768 (or similar) as a maximum resolution, which was not displayed properly. I tried a few steps, including generating an xorg.conf (initially didn't have one) and adding the segment as described in this post regarding this particular TV. I couldn't get this to work, and at this stage have reverted to running without an xorg.conf. Another post suggested upgrading to kernel 3.5, which did give me a 1920x1080 resolution option. This results in the TV cutting off a fair bit of the edges of the screen. My Dell laptop with ATI drivers recognises the TV screen and works well via HDMI. Any idea how to proceed?

  I am running Ubuntu 12.10 on a Sony Vaio VGC-RB34G ( http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/sony-vaio-vgc-rb34g/4505-3118_7-31289053.html ) with an integrated Realtek High Definition Audio sound card. On Windows, I can set up the sound card to provide sound to my surround sound system from the Line Out, Line In, and Mic ports, as in all of these are producing audio. I have tried to use alsa to achieve this result with no luck. Is there any possible way to do this on Ubuntu? Thanks! • Internet (HTTP) is not working on Sony Viao

  I switched my sony viao laptop from XP to ubuntu 10.04 recently. I have it connected through router at home. The internet was working fine with XP. With ubuntu, i am not able to connect to interenet. I am able to update using apt, and i am able to ping too. It seems like there is a DNS issue, when i try to goto sites from firefox, it doesn't work. I tried disabling the ipv6 in firefox config, it doesn't work. My router is on 192.168.2.1 instead of 192.168.1.1 any ideas on what config i might need to change to make this work? or could this be a drive issue?

• I can't modify the screen brightness on Xubuntu 13.10

  I got this problem with brightness on my fresh xubuntu 13.10 install.. It ain't inc/decrease the screen brightness when pressing Fn+F5/F6 !!   Well I switched back to Sony. After about a year of debating whether or not to keep my XBox 360 or get a PS3 I decided over the weekend to trade in the 360 for a PS3.  I had thought about keeping both but I really don’t need two gaming systems. So far I like it, the graphics are good and the game selection is pretty much the same. For me the game exclusives didn’t sway me one way or the other (i.e. I’ve never played Halo so you can’t miss what you never played). My main reasons for switching were: RROD – I’ve had three and I don’t play a huge amount per week. Free online gaming – I never did buy a Live Gold account even though it is affordable Blu-ray player – Figured this is as good of a time as any to finally get one Netflix streaming with no need for an upgrade to your online account like on XBox MUCH quieter system Finally at a $299 price point All in all the last point was the main one for me. Like a lot of other folks I was really put off by the PS3’s original pricing of $499 and $599. Technorati Tags: Gaming

  I am a Windows user trying to move over to Ubuntu without much success. I have installed the 11.10 version as dual boot by using Wubi tool on the Ubuntu website and can only use the operating system for about 5 minutes before it overheats and shuts off the machine. I have done my searches and seen many posts about overheating but cannot see one that I am able to apply to my particular case. Can anyone give me a steer on this please?

• Sony Ericsson Windows driver problem

  I've installed Update Service and MediaGo for my Sony Ericsson phone but one of the drivers that was installed along with the software is causing problems in Windows 7 x64. Looking in the Event Log I see the following warning: Detected unrecognized USB driver (\Driver\seehcri) This is the driver corresponding to the Sony Ericsson seehcri Control Device. The failure to recognize the USB driver is causing problems with other services, namely the VMware USB Arbitration Service. It should normally start automatically but, due to the failure to recognize the seehcri USB driver, it fails with the following error: Error 31: A device attached to the system is not functioning. Disabling the driver has not helped at all. The VMWare service still refuses to start and I keep getting both warnings in the Event Log. I would like to remove the Sony Ericsson driver but unfortunately, that's not possible. Uninstalling the Sony Ericsson seehcri Control Device from Device Manager causes Windows to almost completely freeze up while trying to look for drivers for unrecognized hardware. Windows tries over and over again to locate and install drivers for an Unknown device, failing every time. Looking in Device Manager, it simply fills up with hundreds of unknown devices, also using up the CPU to almost 85% in the process. What should I do? How can I safely remove the driver without causing Windows to look for a new driver?

  I have had Ubuntu on my laptop for quite a while, it's just a standard install, no partitioning off, no wierdness of any other sort, just ubuntu. Today my computer started to lag really bad so I tried to restart it, but after bios loaded I just got an error that said "ERROR: No configuration file found No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found!" After that it had "boot:" and a cursor, like it expects me to type something. Once again, this is just a normal install on my hard drive, not a VM or booting from USB. It's Ubuntu 12.04 on a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ240P Any help is appreciated!

  I bought a Sony Vaio with Windows 8 yesterday. I want to install Ubuntu, (latest version), alongside Windows. There is an assist button on the laptop to enter the boot option menu, (otherwise, Windows 8 is booted by default. Whenever I choose the, 'boot from CD' option, it says 'No operating system found'. CD is valid since I tried it on another computer and it worked fine. I have tried both versions, 12.04 and 12.10. What is the problem, or how should I install Ubuntu on my laptop?

• Why are Virtual Terminal Blank using NVIDIA propietary drivers?

  When using nouveau the fps are low compared to nvidia closed driver. But when booting, nvidia drivers show the ubuntu splash screen in a 900x800 resolution like nvidia its not loaded yet. When nouveau it splash in a decent resolution. The problem I'm having since karmic koala is I cant switch to virtual terminals with nvidia closed drivers. By the way, is the same PC: VAIO VPCCW19FX with NVIDIA G210M, now with precise amd64. • Sony DCR-TRV14E Video Camera Drivers for Windows 7 64-bit

  Hi, I've just built a new PC and installed 64-bit Windows 7 RC. I'm trying to get my video camera to work with it. It's a Sony DCR-TRV14E (PAL). When using Firewire, Windows detects the camera but does not display the "autorun" popup dialog with the various options of what to do with the files on the camera. However, the camera does appear in the devices page of Control Panel. When using USB, Windows fails when trying to install drivers. I can't find any drivers on the Sony site which say they'll be compatible with Windows 7 (or 64-bit). Has anyone had any luck with this Sony camera (or similar ones?). Thanks.

• Sony VAIO Broken Computer Screen automatically connect to external

  I have a SONY Vaio with a screen that's broken as in I only see white or black dots on the display. I would like to have it start automatically to the external, but my previous computer settings for an external display has it set on "extend" rather than "duplicate". Therefore, whenever I boot up, I have the extended screen on the external, which does me no good since I can't really do anything with my start bar still located on the broken screen. I hope that makes sense. Has anyone else run into this problem? I've seen some things about starting in BIOS. Will my broken computer screen still be able to display the contents when I'm in BIOS? How do I get there? or are there keystrokes for a Sony Vaio that will automatically let me duplicate screens or direct everything to the external? Thanks!
