    Let me just say thanks in advance. I am having issues getting google-chrome browser into full KIOSK MODE with no browser bar on a linux platform Looking through the google forums I have found numerous postings on how to get Chrome to show full kiosk mode BUT tried to execute with --kiosk but doesnt seem to get the job done. I dont know if this is platform specific or not, but any useful information would help. I know F11 will display the browser in full kiosk mode, with no browser bar BUT is there a way to do this with a linux script and no need for a monkey pressing F11??

  • Compiling PHP with LDAP support on Ubuntu 12.10

    I am trying to compile PHP on Ubuntu 12.10 with LDAP support. I have run: apt-get install libldap2-dev That installs the header files to /usr/include. However, when attempting to compile it is unable to locate the header files. I have tried to with --with-ldap=/usr/include as well and it still fails with: configure: error: Cannot find ldap.h I also tried symlinking with the following and I still get the same error: ln -s /usr/lib/ldap* /usr/lib/ Thanks in advance for your help.

  • How can I get Transaction Logs to auto-truncate after Backup

    Setup: Sql Server 2008 R2, databases set up with Full recovery mode. I have set up a maintenance plan that backs up the transaction logs for a number of databases on the server. It is set to create backup files in sub-directories for each database, verify backup integrity is turned on, and backup compression is used. The job is set to run once every 2 hours during business hours (8am-6pm). I have tested the job and it runs fine, creates the log backup files as it should. However, from what I have read, once the transaction log is backed up, it should be ok to truncate the transaction log. I do not see any option for doing this in the Sql Server Maintenance Plan designer. How can I set this up?

  • Compiling Gearman PHP Library for CentOS 5.8

    I've been trying to get Gearman compiled on CentOS 5.8 all afternoon. Unfortunately I am restricted to this version of CentOS by my CTO and how he has our entire network configured. I think it's simply because we don't have enough resources to upgrade our network... But anyways, the problem at hand. I have searched through Server Fault, Stack Overflow, Google, and am unable to locate a working solution. What I have below is stuff I have pieced together from my searching. Searches have told said to install the following via yum: yum -y install --enablerepo=remi boost141-devel libgearman-devel e2fsprogs-devel e2fsprogs gcc44 gcc-c++ To get the Boost headers working correctly I did this: cp -f /usr/lib/boost141/* /usr/lib/ cp -f /usr/lib64/boost141/* /usr/lib64/ rm -f /usr/include/boost ln -s /usr/include/boost141/boost /usr/include/boost With all of the dependancies installed and paths setup I then download and compile gearmand-1.1.2 just fine. wget -O /tmp/gearmand-1.1.2.tar.gz https://launchpad.net/gearmand/1.2/1.1.2/+download/gearmand-1.1.2.tar.gz cd /tmp && tar zxvf gearmand-1.1.2.tar.gz ./configure && make -j8 && make install That works correctly. So now I need to install the Gearman library for PHP. I have attempted through PECL and downloading the source directly, both result in the same error: checking whether to enable gearman support... yes, shared not found configure: error: Please install libgearman What I don't understand is I installed the libgearman-devel package which also installed the core libgearman. The installation installs libgearman-devel-0.14-3.el5.x86_64, libgearman-devel-0.14-3.el5.i386, libgearman-0.14-3.el5.x86_64, and libgearman-0.14-3.el5.i386. Is it possible the package version is lower than what is required? I'm still poking around with this, but figured I'd throw this up to see if anyone has a solution while I continue to research a fix.     I just ordered five 1TB drives to install as a RAID 6 array in a Linux server (keeping the existing 1TB drive as a boot disk). I want to use Linux MD for RAID rather than a RAID card, to avoid lock-in. The intended use is for storing filesystems for Xen development environments and an AFP server for iPhoto/Aperture/Lightroom. What things should I know before I set it up? For example, what would be a good choice of filesystem, and what chunk size should I use?

  • Bacula not backing up all the files it should be doing

    I have Bacula (5.2) running on a Fedora 14 system backing up several different computers including Windows 7, Windows 2003 and Windows 2008. When backing up the Windows 2008 server the backup stops after a relatively small amount has been backed up and says the backup was okay. The fileset I am trying to backup should be around 323Gb, but it manages a mere 27Gb before stopping - but not erring. I did try creating a mount on the Fedora computer to the server I am trying to backup, and Bacula managed to copy 58Gb. When I tried to use the mount to copy the files manually I was able to copy them all - there are no problems with permissions etc. on the mount. Please can anyone give a reason why Bacula would just stop? I have heard there is a 260 character limit, but some of the files that should have been copy resolve to a shorter filename than some that have been backed up.

  • PCs using certain IP addresses cannot ping out

    I'm having a very strange problem which I just can't get past. The way our network is set up, we have 2 locations. The main office with all our PCs, and servers/ We are then joined to a local ISP via microwave link and they provide our internet gateway and house an additional storage server for us. All of the network infrastructure is within our office The problem is... When some PCs (and servers) are assigned IP addresses, they cannot ping the gateway or remote server however the remote server can ping the PC. Most of our internal IP addresses work fine but specific ones (e.g. .29) has this problem all the time. There is nothing else using the ip address and no other network problems. When we switch the IP on the PC, it works fine. Please help, I'm going mad. Thanks, Steve

  • Can't run telnet in console opened by Autohotkey

    I have enabled the telnet client on my Windows 7 64-bit machine and if I open the start menu and launch cmd from there I can run telnet. I normally use the keyboard shortcut Win-C, implemented by this AutoHotkey snippet to open a console. #c::Run, C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe For some strange reason when I try to run telnet in a console window opened this way I get Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601] Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. C:\Users\Steve\Documentstelnet 'telnet' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Running path in any console, regardless of how it was opened produces the same output. Can anyone shed any light on why telnet might run in one console but not the other?

  • OSX Parallels 5 - can't share internet connection when using host-only networking...

    I've just upgraded from Parallels 3 to Parallels 5, but am having a problem matching my previous configuration. I am a web developer so run a local web server on my mac. I used to allow access to this from the virtual machines in Parallels by using 'Host-Only Networking' and then in OSX enabling internet sharing from my wifi/ethernet to the virtual ethernet ports that Parallels created. The setup was based on: http://www.craigfrancis.co.uk/features/setup/parallels/ The new version of Parallels doesn't create any network adaptors that are available for internet sharing in OSX - just VNIC's which only show under an ifconfig... Can anyone suggest how to make this all play nice? Thanks in advance! Steve

  • Opening Word documents from IE LAG Windows 7 IE8

    Hi, I'm having a lot of trouble opening documents from a network share in word using IE. The documents are located in a network share which is mapped to a virtual directory. The documents are accessed by URLs that link to the virtual directory. There is now a huge lag (sometimes up to a minute or two!) from when clicking on the link to the document opening in word. The 'loading disc' in IE just keeps spinning and nothing happens. Sometimes a pop up box appears with 'opening file - (address)' but it still takes ages. I've tried setting in the registry to open the files directly in ie but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas? Steve

    Hi, I'm using Belarc Advisor to examine my PC. Part of BA is a security benchmark summary, which examines components of windows security and provides a benchmark rating. Two items are marked as Fail: - Store Passwords using Reversible Encryption - Password History Size I have opened the Local Security Settings tool from the Control Panel Administrative Tools, and ensured that the "Store passwords using reversible encryption" setting is enabled. Also, I've set the password history to a number. So I'm a bit miffed about the Fail marks. Any idea why the Fail marks appear? Any clues how I can Pass them? Thanks, Steve.

  • FullText SQL Server Clustered Service Move

    I need to move the I drive from one san vendor to another. Microsoft states that you can't move the fulltext http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q304282& and the only way would be remove the cluster and re-install the cluster. Does anyuone know of any other way? Would swapping the old I drive for a new I drive work? Currently on the I drive I just have the fulltext directory and sql server log directory to move. The later I know how to handle. Any help would be greatly appreciated Windows 2003 - SQL Server 2005 32bit and yes this is one of the few 2005 instances that we have left Steve

  • Can a RAID disk setup crash if only 1 hard disk fails?

    I am a web developer. I have not much experience in hardware. For this reason, I use managed servers. This morning, one of the drives in our setup failed. However, the full site went down. I asked my web host what happened and he replied that the hard disk failed in such a way that the RAID controller couldn't work properly. Do you guys ever seen that before? Is it possible? Steve shared some insights around Windows 8: 4 million customers upgraded to Windows 8 over the weekend since the October 26 release (so in 3 days only!). Focus on sharing code between Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. Syncing everything through SkyDrive Xbox Music free streaming and Xbox Smart Glass. He did all the demos himself, showing off great “Windows 8 generation” devices already available (including an 82-inch Windows 8 “slate” by Perceptive Pixel). Steve Guggenheimer (Microsoft's Corporate Vice President DPE) talked about The Business Opportunity with Windows 8.   Notable announcements of day 1: The Windows Phone 8 SDK is now available at dev.windowsphone.com (includes SDK, free version of VS2012, Blend 5, and emulators).   • SSIS Denali as part of “Enterprise Information Management”

    When watching the SQL PASS session “What’s Coming Next in SSIS?” of Steve Swartz, the Group Program Manager for the SSIS team, an interesting question came up: Why is SSIS thought of to be BI, when we use it so frequently for other sorts of data problems? The answer of Steve was that he breaks the world of data work into three parts: Process of inputs BI   Enterprise Information Management All the work you have to do when you have a lot of data to make it useful and clean and get it to the right place. This covers master data management, data quality work, data integration and lineage analysis to keep track of where the data came from. All of these are part of Enterprise Information Management. Next, Steve told Microsoft is developing SSIS as part of a large push in all of these areas in the next release of SQL. So SSIS will be, next to a BI tool, part of Enterprise Information Management in the next release of SQL Server. I'm interested in the different ways people use SSIS, I've basically used it for ETL, data migrations and processing inputs. In which ways did you use SSIS?

    This is crazy, I have been trying for hours to get this to work. My client wants to be able to reset password for uses who have forgotten them The only parameter he has is the UserName. He does NOT want the user to be able to reset the password themselves, no that would be too easy...ARGHHHHH!!   • IIS7 & WIndows Authentication - authenticating to the wrong domain

    I have an IIS 7 web app that is using Windows authentication. Currently, everything is set up correctly based on all that I've been able to find on the web. What's happening is when a user tries to get to that domain, they see the authentication popup, but they are being requested to authenticate to "servername.domain" instead of just the domain .... How do I get IIS 7 (or the browser for that matter) to realize that windows authentication should be to the domain, not to the machine hosting the IIS 7 instance?? Thanks, Steve G.
