  • text extraction from video game dialogue files [on hold]

    As part of an academic project, I am trying to access the dialogue files (whether audio or text) from a variety of sports video games (Madden or NBA 2kX would be fantastic). I have searched extensively on other sites (scholarly text-mining publications, r/gaming, r/madden, modding sites, etc.) for guidance in how to extract dialogue files, but have been unsuccessful. Given that I don't have even the domain specific language to ask the right question (i.e. the resources I am seeking are out there, I just can't find them) I am asking the SE game dev community for help with the 2 following questions: Is there a canonical resource that I should study that would get me started with how to extract text or audio files from games? I am very fluent in python, which usually excels at mining information from sources, but I struggle with knowing where to start with a video game (as opposed to a more familiar database with a defined API). Is this even feasible, or are protections included with newer games (e.g. NBA 2k13) going to make extraction of these resources in a programmatic way impossible? Thank you for your help!

  • how to use a batch file to delete a line of text in a bunch of text files? [on hold]

    I have a bunch of txt files in my D drive which are placed randomly in different locations.Some files also contain symbols.I want a batch file so that i can delete their specific lines completely at the same time without doing it one by one for each file and please refer to a code which does not create a new text file at some other location with the changes being incorporated i.e I do not want the input.txt and output.txt thing.I just need the original files to be replaced with the changes as soon as i click the batch file. e.g D:\abc\1.txt D:\xyz\2.txt etc I want both of their 3rd lines erased completely with a single click and the new file must be saved with the same name in the same location i.e the new changed text files must replace the old text files with their respective lines removed.Maybe some sort of *.txt thing i.e i should be able to change all the files with the .txt extensions in a drive via a single batch file perhaps in another drive,not placing my batch file into each and every folder separately and then running them.Alternatively a vbs file is also welcomed.   • Creating static NAT blocks outbound traffic Cisco ASA

    Hi Everyone, I have two web servers sitting behind a Cisco ASA 5505, which I don't have much experience with. I'm trying to create two static NATs. One static NAT that goes to xx.xx.xx.150 and another that goes to xx.xx.xx.151. I've created the static NAT for the .150 web server and it works FINE. Incoming and outgoing traffic work great. This is the staging web server. I now need to duplicate the setup for the production web server. So, I connect the webserver to the firewall, change the public IP address on one of the NICs reboot the server and I have outbound internet access. Then I run the command: static (inside,outside) xx.xx.xx.150 192.168.1.x which is successful. I then run the command: access-list acl-outside permit tcp any host xx.xx.xx.150 eq 80 Which is successful. I then try to browse the internet and I get nothing. I try to telnet in through port 80 and I get nothing (though I'm guessing because the response to the telnet request is being blocked). I've tried this with the production web server and then I tried it with another web server that is for internal testing and have the exact same problem. Both work fine until I run the static NAT rule and then no outbound internet access. I have a feeling that it's something simple that I'm missing, but my limited experience with this device is killing me. Below I've pasted the current configuration. I'm currently trying to get this to work on the .153 server which is the internal testing server.   • Parsing / Extracting Text from String in Rails?

    I have a string in Rails, e.g. "This is a Twitter message. #books War & Peace by Leo Tolstoy. I love this book!", and I want to parse the text and extract only certain phrases, like "War & Peace by Leo Tolstoy". Is this a matter of using Regex and lifting the text between "#books" to "."? What if there's no structure to the message, like: "This is a Twitter message #books War & Peace by Leo Tolstoy I love this book!" or "This is a Twitter message. I love the book War & Peace by Leo Tolstoy #books" How can I reliably pull the phrase "War & Peace by Leo Tolstoy" without knowing the phrase ex ante. Are there any gems, methods, etc. that can help me do this? At the very least, what would you call what I'm trying to do? It will help me search for a solution on Google. I've tried a few searches on "parsing" with no luck.

  • Full Text Index type column is empty

    I am trying to create an index on a VarBinary(max) field in my SQL Server 2008 database. The steps I am taking are as follows: Table: dbo.Records Right click on table and select "Full Text Index" Then select "Define Index..." I choose the primary key which is the PK of my table (field name Id, type UniqueIndentifier). I then get the screen with the options Available Columns, Language for Word Breaker and Type Column I select my VarBinary(max) field called Chart as the Available Column by ticking the box. I select "English" as the Language for Word Breaker field. Then... I try to select the Type Column but there are no entries in here. I cannot proceed by clicking "Next" until this column is populated. Why are there no entries in this column for selection and what should be in there? Note 1: The VarBinary(max) field is linked to a file group if that makes any difference. Note 2: Also noticed that in the table designer I cannot set the full text option on that same field to "Yes" - its permanently stuck on "No". Thanks.

    When I change the 'default language' in 'text services and input languages' in windows xp mode from EN-US to DE-DE the settings are reverted with the next logoff / reboot - EN-US is the default language again. Is there a way around this behaviour? I'm using the default 'XPMUser' in windows xp mode. I also checked 'turn off advanced text services' and disabled the language bar and windows xp remembers these settings - just not the default language..

  • Printer keeps going offline in Windows 7 XP Mode

    Every time I reboot the computer, the printer in Windows 7 XP mode goes offline. I have to go back into the full XP mode and attach the printer again to make it work. I have the settings set to automatically attach the printer, but it doesn't appear to be working. Any ideas what might make it automatically re-attach? Does anyone see this working?

    When I type C-c C-v to see the list of TODOs, or C-/ m to see headlines with a certain tag, org-mode shows me a sparse tree with the results. How do I then go back to seeing the tree the way it was before I issued this command? Note that I haven't changed the file in any way, so this isn't your normal "undo", it's about going back to how org-mode was displaying the tree before.

    Typical things to worry about when dealing with text are the BOM/signature, encoding, and the end of line (EOL) char/chars. I know that Windows often favours \r\n (CR+LF) and Mac/Linux favours \n (LF), but how about mobile devices such as the iPhone and Android? Do typical apps on those platforms favour one or the other? Also, which text encodings are mobiles most likely to use - UTF-8, iso-8859-1, or even Windows 1252 (or other default codepage) or maybe even UTF-16? And if they use UTF-8/16, are they likely to need (or require not having) a BOM/signature? What is the typical behavior here?

I have been using TextMate on my Mac and would love to find something that even comes close to that experience. My Ubuntu laptop is a little old, and doesn't have a lot of memory, so I need something lightweight. I don't need/want a bloated IDE because the performance on my slow laptop would be terrible.     I have two computers running 10.4 . The first machine is a wired desktop with sshd. The second is a wifi connected laptop with the ssh client. When I use my laptop to bring up a remote gnome session to my desktop all the text gets reversed. Steps: 1) login as a user on the laptop to activate the wifi with a stored key. 2) goto a console Ctrl-Alt F1 3) do a xterm -- :1 to bring up a blank graphic session 4) ssh -Y user@desktopmachine gnome-session This shows reversed text and messes up the keyboard so I can't type

  • Error installing Package Control for Sublime Text 3 on Ubuntu 14.04

    This is the error. It comes up when I paste and enter the installation code (which I get from the Package Control website) and each time I open up Sublime Text. Package Control Your system's locale is set to a value that can not handle non-ASCII characters. Package Control can not properly work unless this is fixed. On Linux, please reference your distribution's docs for information on properly setting the LANG environmental variable. As a temporary work-around, you can launch Sublime Text from the terminal with: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 sublime_text I had the same problem with Ubuntu 13.04 so it's probably not version-dependent.
