    I'm trying to monitor a small section of a web page for changes using the the Google Page Monitor extension -- https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/pemhgklkefakciniebenbfclihhmmfcd Under advanced settings I can use either Regex or Selectors to accomplish this, but need help with this. In the following html, I'd like to monitor the following for changes in either the URL in line 4 or the text in line 5.   • eclipse: want to view a css file but get "Cannot create extension" error

  • AS3 Working With Arbitrarily Large Files

    I am trying to read a very large file in AS3 and am having problems with the runtime just crashing on me. I'm currently using a FileStream to open the file asynchronously. This does not work(crashes without an Exception) for files bigger than about 300MB. _fileStream = new FileStream(); _fileStream.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, loadError); _fileStream.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loadComplete); _fileStream.openAsync(myFile, FileMode.READ); In looking at the documentation, it sounds like the FileStream class still tries to read in the entire file to memory(which is bad for large files). Is there a more suitable class to use for reading large files? I really would like something like a buffered FileStream class that only loads the bytes from the files that are going to be read next. I'm expecting that I may need to write a class that does this for me, but then I would need to read only a piece of a file at a time. I'm assuming that I can do this by setting the position and readAhead properties of the FileStream to read a chunk out of a file at a time. I would love to save some time if there is a class like this that already exists. Is there a good way to process large files in AS3, without loading entire contents into memory?

[Bindable] var MyVar:String='Flex'; var Lab:Label=new Label(); Lab.text=??? ... SomeContainer.addChild(Lab); How can I accomplish this kind of "Dynamic" binding... Where I don't know the value of "StringToBind" until runtime?   • Switching from web to desktop development

    Being a web developer (php, symfony, doctrine) for 2 years now, I was recently asked by a friend to come up with a desktop solution. So I developed a project, installed a LAMP on his machine and he is mostly happy using it now. But I'm not. It just doesn't seem right to wait for a server response from a localhost. Obviously php isn't suited for desktop development. So, my question is: what language \ framework would you advice a php programmer if he was going to develop a desktop application (something that you can install, that has it's own gui, but utilizes the similar concepts of web apps: css, javascript, orm). I would like to bring up Python as a possible answer to my question. Does anyone have an experience of developing a desktop app with Python, utilizing an ORM and(or) HTML-based GUI?

  • Bitmapdata heavy usage - memory disaster (spark/FB4)

    I've got a flex component which works pretty well but unfortunately turns into a disaster once used in a datagroup item renderer of about 40-50 items. Essentially it uses bitmapdata to take screenshot of a fully-rendered webpage in mx:HTML (this version of webkit rocks btw, miles better than flex 3). The code is pretty self-explanatory I think. http://noben.org/show/PageGrabber.mxml I've optimized it all I could, browsed, search for answers and already trimmed it down a lot, I'm desparate to reduce the memory usage (about 600mb after 100 draw) The Garbage collector has little effect. And not necessarily for ProgressEvents, but when going through steps.     I've just discovered a bug in my app, it looks like a Flash player bug, i would like to know if anyone has found a workaround or something. I've some radio buttons groups in my app. If I press the arrow keys while holding the spacebar pressed, it ends up triggering TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at fl.controls::LabelButton/drawIcon() at fl.controls::LabelButton/draw() at fl.controls::RadioButton/draw() at fl.core::UIComponent/callLaterDispatcher() If found this thread that describes my same situation. Do you think there's any workaround for this? Is it really a flash bug?
