• Why does 12.04 upgrade abort with out of space error when I have lots of it?

  When upgrading Ubuntu from 11.10 to 12.04 I discovered an unexpected problem. The upgrade was stopped because there wasn't enough free space for the installation. I managed to free some space and do the upgrade but now a prompt appears after logging in saying I'm out of space. This prompt asks me if I want to examine the problem. The "Disk Usage Analyser" is opened. In the top it says: Total filesystem capacity: 47.0 GB (used: 13.5 GB available: 33.4 GB) Folder -- Usage -- Size / -- 100% -- 12.5 GB usr -- 44.8 % -- 5.6 GB home -- 30.3 % -- 3.8 GB lib -- 13.0 % -- 1.6 GB var -- 9.1 % -- 1.1 GB boot 2.5 % 309.5 GB and a lot of small contributors like: etc, opt, sbin, bin etc. I do not really understand this problem since the analyser in the top says that I have 33.4 GB left in this file system. What can I do to make Ubuntu use the remaining space? • Can it be a good idea to lease a house rather than a standard office-space for a software development shop? [closed]

  Our lease is up on our US-based office-space in July, so it's back on my radar to evaluate our office-space situation. Two of our partners rather like the idea of leasing a house rather than standard office-space. We have 4 partners and one employee. I'm against the idea at this moment in time. Pros, as I see them Easier to get a good location (minimize commutes) All partners/employees have dogs. Easier to work longer hours without dog-duties pulling people back home More comfortable bathroom situation Residential Internet Rate Control of the thermostat Clients don't come to our office, so this would not change our image The additional comfort-level should facilitate a significantly higher-percentage of time "in the zone" for programmers and artists. Cons, as I see them Additional bills to pay (house-cleaning, yard, util, gas, electric) Additional time-overhead in dealing with bills (house-cleaning, yard, util, gas, electric) Additional overhead required to deal with issues that maintenance would have dealt with in a standard office-space Residential neighbors to contend with The equation starts to look a little nasty when factoring in potential time-overhead, especially on issues that a maintenance crew would deal with at a standard office complex. Can this be a good thing for a software development shop?

• Why RenderTarget2D overwrites other objects when trying to put some text in a model?

  I am trying to draw an object composited by two cubes (A & B) (one on top of the other, but for now I have them a little bit more open). I am able to do it and this is the result. (Cube A is the blue and Cube B is the one with brown text that comes from a png texture) But I want to have any text as parameter in the cube B. I have tried what @alecnash suggested in his question, but for some reason when I try to draw cube B, cube A dissapears and everything turns purple. • Non breaking space in XAML vs. code

  This works fine, and correctly inserts non-breaking spaces into the string: <TextBlock Text="Non&#160;Breaking&#160;Text&#160;Here"></TextBlock> But what I really need is to replace spaces with non-breaking spaces during data binding. So I wrote a simple value converter that replaces spaces with "&#160;". It does indeed replace spaces with "&#160;" but "&#160;" is displayed literally instead of showing as a non-breaking space. • iPad SplitView changes main navigation bar color

  Weird problem: After rotating my app to portrait, picking the toolbar item and exposing the uipopovercontroller, if I rotate back to landscape, the UINavigationController on the right side (objectAtIndex:0 of the SplitView) changes the color of the navigation bar. I am not sure why. I have it set in Interface Builder to be barStyle = UIBarStyleBlackOpaque; It turns silver after it returns to landscape mode. This only happens if I rotate it to portrait, create the popover, and select something in the navigation controller, which pushes another tableViewController. Even setting the properties in the viewDidLoad method does nothing. Anyone have an idea?

  Greetings, I am unable to control the background color of a UITextField with a borderStyle= UITextBorderStyleRoundedRect. With this border style the backgroundColor property only seems to control a very narrow line along the inner edge of the rounded rectangle. The rest of the field remains white. However, if the borderStyle is set to UIBorderStyle=UITextBorderStyleBezel then the entire background of the UITextField is controlled by its backgroundColor property. Is this a feature? Is there a way to control the backgroundColor of a UITextField with a borderStyle=UITextBorderStyleRoundedRect? Thanks, Stephen

• Change color of text within a WinForms RichTextBox

  I have a RichTextBox that I write a string to every time I click a Form button. The string ends with a newline so each time I add a string, it appends to the bottom of the RichTextBox. Each string begins with the string "Long" or "Short" and ends with Environment.NewLine. I'd like to color each line red if it beings with "Long" and blue if it begins with "Short". How can I do this?   I have a set of hex values in an array in PHP. On my page, I have a slider which the user can "slide" to return a value between 1-100. I want to then, based on this slider value, swap all the colors in the array based on the colors "next" color based on the position in the array. An example of the same sort of thing would be like in photshop where you can rotate the hue of a layer. I want to do the same thing, in PHP, for a hex value. Any clues?

  Hello, I'd like to implement some custom behavior of Space key in a ListView. Basically I'd like to toggle selected status of the item under cursor - that should be fairly simple this.FocusedItem.Selected = !this.FocusedItem.Selected; but alas, it also does the default action, which is to select the focused item. This way I am unable to 'unselect' the focused item. I've looked for similar problems and they suggest using PreviewKeyDown event, in which I would process the key and disallow the ListView to do its default action. But the PreviewKeyDown event argument has no "handled" property, so I cannot 'eat' this key.

  Hi all, I've been looking around for a solution to this thing but I haven't found anything similar to what I'm looking for. The thing is that I've got a table filled with data from a database, and what I want is to change the background colour of an specific row depending on a value of the class I'm loading in each row. The thing is that I have to display some data but as the fields to be displayed are quite a lot, I don't have more space to show an status field, so I would like to show the row in red if the status is inactive, and the rest of the rows in the normal color of the blue stylesheet. Is there a way to do that through tablesorter? I'm opened to suggestions, as I'm not sure how to do it. Thank you all in advance, Victor

• Getting Out Of Memory: Java heap space, but while viewing heap space it max uses 50 MB

  Hi! I'm using ASANT to run a xml file which points to a NARS.jar file. (i do not have the project file of the NARS.jar) I'm getting "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space. I used VisualVM to look at the heap while running the NARS.jar, and it says that it max uses 50 MB of the heapspace. I've set the initial and max size of heapspace to 512 MB. Does anyone have an ide of what could be wrong? I got 1 GB physical Memory and created a 5 GB pagefile (for test purpose). Thanks in advance.

• C# WinForms StatusStrip - How do I reclaim the space from the "Grip"

  I've got a StatusStrip with a single ToolStripStatusLabel, Spring=true and a background color for notifications. The problem is that there's an ugly gray square on the right side of the status strip. After fiddling for a while, I realized this is the sizing grip (I had is set to SizingGrip=false, GripStyle=Hidden). Yet even with it hidden, it still hogs the space. I can't get any content on the status strip to extend all the way to the right. How would you work around this? Note I can't just set the backcolor of the StatusStrip because the Status Label changes colors and has some fading effects.

  Wwhat is your favorite vim color scheme? I haven't found a great one yet, but what I'd like, in order of priority, are: Never confuses me. For example: When matching braces are highlighted, it's easy to see where the cursor is When I've got two or more tabs open, I can read all the titles and easily tell which one is active (maybe inactive ones look faded out) Very readable, both for regular code and for highlighting It would be nice if it was attractive I found one scheme that was ALMOST perfect (peaksea), but not quite - I couldn't read the titles of non-active tabs. So on a related note: anybody know a clear reference page for tweaking the colors of specific items?

  I am developing a WPF application that must run using Windows Classic theme. The application creates a dialog box containing a ListBox. When the dialog box is shown, it must be disabled for 1s before accepting any input. I am accomplishing this with a style trigger, and it works. However, the ListBox shows a white background when it's disabled, which I can't seem to get rid of. When using the aero theme, the following style resource fixes the issue: <SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.ControlBrushKey}" Color="Transparent"/> But when using Windows Classic theme, the white background reappears. How can i remedy the situation for Classic theme???

• How can I force overflow: hidden to not use up my padding-right space

  I have the following code: <div style="width: 100px; overflow: hidden; border: 1px solid red; background-color: #c0c0c0; padding-right: 20px; "> 2222222222222222222222111111111111111111111111113333333333333333333</div> (XHTML 1.0 transitional) What happens is that the padding-right doesn't appear, it's occupied by the content, which means the overflow uses up the padding right space and only "cuts off" after the padding. Is there any way to force the browser to overflow before the padding-right, which means my div will show with the padding right?   Hi All, I am writing a tool which generates some Spreadsheet ML (XML) to create an Excel spreadsheet for my users. I have defined a style as follows: <Style ss:ID="GreenText"> <Font ss:FontName="Arial" ss:Size="9" ss:Color="#8CBE50" /> </Style> This works to an extent, but when I open it in Excel the colour rendered for the text isn't the one I specified - it's a brighter version. I can use the same colour reference for a cell border and the colour is rendered correctly. Can anyone shed any light on why the text colour isn't rendered correctly? Thanks!

• How to occupy all the space in a div when working with min-height header / footer

  I believe this is a beginner's CSS question. I am utilizing the method described in http://www.xs4all.nl/~peterned/examples/csslayout1.html to fix a header to the top and a footer to the bottom. What I'd like to achieve now is two columns inside the content div. A left one of 200px and a right one that takes up the rest of the width. Unfortunately, I can't get the left and right divs to display correctly: they just don't grow vertically, and if I make the right div "width: 100%" it positions itself underneath the left one. What is the trick to make the left and right div take up all the space within the content div? The layout1.css is the original one. • Blank space after file extension -> weird FileInfo behaviour

  Somehow a file has appeared in one of my directories, and it has space at the end of its extension - its name is "test.txt ". The weird thing is that Directory.GetFiles() returns me the path of this file, but I'm unable to retrieve file information with FileInfo class. The error manifests here: DirectoryInfo di = new DirectoryInfo("c:\\somedir"); FileInfo fi = di.GetFileSystemInfos("test*")[0] as FileInfo; //correctly fi.FullName is "c:\somedir\test.txt " //but fi.Exists==false (!) Is FileInfo class broken? Can I somehow retrieve information about this file? I really don't know how did that file appear on my file system, and I am unable to recreate some more of them. All of my attempts to create a new file with this type of extension have failed, but now my program is crashing when encoutering it. I can easily handle the exception when finding the file, but boy am I curious about this!

If you check out the link provided, I'm using the last option: $('#colorSelector').ColorPicker({ color: '#0000ff', onShow: function (colpkr) { $(colpkr).fadeIn(500); return false; }, onHide: function (colpkr) { $(colpkr).fadeOut(500); return false; }, onChange: function (hsb, hex, rgb) { $('#colorSelector div').css('backgroundColor', '#' + hex); } }); My problem is that I can't seem to get the hex value from it...I've tried simply calling the name of the input to get its value, but it won't work (when you click away to make the colorpicker disappear, the input changes to 'style="display:none;"' so I can't get anything from it. Then, I tried pulling the value using some simple jQuery calls, but got nothing... Please help....
