  • Determine when a loud sound is played in C#

    I want to determine if another program plays a sound above a certain threshold. I am not looking for checking the volume settings on the computer or anything like that. I really just need to see if any app plays something higher then what I am expecting. Anyone know if this is possible or how to do it?

  • Is there a faster way to remove un-referenced controls from a Form's designer file?

    I started looking into the designer file of one of my Forms and noticed that a lot of the old controls I thought I had deleted are still being instantiated but are not actually used on the form. Is there any easy way to clean up these controls from the designer file that are not being used? Right now I've printed out a list of all the private fields at the bottom of the designer file that reference the controls of the form. I'm going down the list one by one trying to determine if the control is actually used or not, and then deleting those that I find are not on the form. The document outline is useful for figuring out what controls are on the form, but this is still a rather tedious process. Does anyone have a better way?

  • Count of Distinct Int32 Values in .NET

    I am receiving a stream of unordered Int32 values and need to track the count of distinct values that I receive. My thought is to add the Int32 values into a HashSet<Int32>. Duplicate entries will simply not be added per the behavior of HashSet. Do I understand correctly that set membership is based on GetHashCode() and that the hash code of an Int32 is the number itself? Is there an approach that is either more CPU or more memory efficient? UPDATE The data stream is rather large. Simply using Linq to iterate the stream to get the distinct count is not what I'm after, since that would involve iterating the stream a second time.

    I'm creating a new rails app for my business, and I just finished a new feature where I can put an announcement on the website (for specials, sales, etc.). I want this announcement to automatically be set to my business' Facebook page. How can I easily do this? Is the only way to create a Facebook application, and then if so, can a Facebook application have permissions to edit a business' page (I know apps can edit user profiles, but I don't know about business pages)? Thanks for any help!

They all work correctly by themselves, but when I put them together in the main function, the last one that finds the smallest word in a string gives an error.     The following jQuery Javascript code is included on an otherwise empty page. $(function() { for (var i = 0; i < 10; i++) { element = $('<div>' + i + '</div>'); element.click(function() { alert(i); }); $('body').append(element); } }); The desired behavior is that this code should generate 10 div elements numbered from 0 to 9. When you click on a div element, an alert popup will show the number of the div element you clicked on (i.e. if a user clicks on the div element labeled '4', the alert popup should show the number 4). The alert popup instead shows the number 10 regardless of which div element is clicked on. How can I modify this code to make it behave in the desired way?

    Im stuck on a the type of trigger needed to for this constraint. I will have a price and a commission. The price determines the commission amount, < 100 - 4%, < 200 - 5% etc. My idea. the database contains a separate table that will hold 4 price values , 101, 201, 401, 601, with their own matching comission %, this will be called PC. When i create a property listing i want to calculate the commission they earn depending on the price entered. on insert, i need to check the new.price and compare it to the prices in PC.   • How can I achieve a complicated CSS layout?

    I have a page here. There is a contents panel, and a content panel. I would like to center the content, and push the contents panel to the top right corner. This behaviour already works. However, the layout does not work as I would like when the page is shrunk. Ideally, the content would be pushed to the right side of the screen, and a 5px gap maintained between the content and the contents. At present, however, the contents just overlaps the content, which isn't really what I want. Is such a layout possible, without resorting to javascript?

    Hi All, A V2.0 beta has been released for the Windows 7 Phone database Rapid Repository, this can be downloaded at the following: http://rapidrepository.codeplex.com/ Along with the new View feature which greatly enhances querying and performance, various bugs have been fixed including a more serious bug with the caching that caused the GetAll() method to sometimes return inconsistent results (I’m a little bit embarrased by this bug). If you are currently using V1.0 in development, I would recommend swapping in the beta immediately. A full release will be available very shortly, I just need a few more days of testing and some input from other users/testers.   *Breaking Changes* The only real change is the RapidContext has moved under the main RapidRepository namespace. I am currently reading a book named "3D Graphics with XNA Game Studio 4.0" by Sean James and have some questions to ask : If i create a effect parameter named lets say SpecularPower and have in my effect a variable named SpecularPower , if i do something like effect.Parameters["SpecularPower"].SetValue(3) That wil change the SpecularPower variable in my effect ? And a second question, not regarding the book : If i have a spaceship and i've created a "boost" functionality that speeds up my spaceship, what effects should i implement to create the impresion oh high speed ?     So I've been following the tutorials from the book Sean James's "3D Graphics with XNA Game Studio 4.0", and have been doing fine until i reached the shadow mapping part. in this book it creates point lights with a Sphere model. my first Q is how to draw a directional Light with this frame work? secondly it can do shadow mapping just for one light, how can i do shadow mapping for all or parts of the lights in the game? i just want to know how to modify this codes to do the above tasks.   • Need to have an aspx page with a Feature in SharePoint 2010

    I have added a custom button to the server ribbon in SharePoint (I have used a feature with Farm scope, so that the button is visible throughout the various site collections). However when I install the feature and click the button, I get an error saying "Cannot load CustomPage". I understand that I haven't deployed the assembly, but shouldn't the aspx page be compiled Just In Time?
