  • Can't connect in C# and google spreadsheet api

    - by RockySanders99
Trying to access google spreadsheets using their api. following their example, the code doesnt work, and its not obvious why. All I'm trying to do is to connect, and I keep getting back the same error. This is with their code set as of 4/15/10. Can anyone offer any suggestion on what I'm doing wrong? CodE: using System; using Google.GData.Client; using Google.GData.Extensions; using Google.GData.Spreadsheets; namespace google_spreadsheet { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { SpreadsheetsService myService = new SpreadsheetsService("MySpreadsheet" ); myService.setUserCredentials("[email protected]", "xxxxxxx"); string token1 = myService.QueryClientLoginToken(); Console.WriteLine("token is {0}", token1); Console.ReadLine(); SpreadsheetQuery query = new SpreadsheetQuery(); SpreadsheetFeed feed = myService.Query(query); Console.WriteLine("list"); foreach (SpreadsheetEntry entry in feed.Entries) { Console.WriteLine("Value: {0}", entry.Title.Text); When I run this, it keeps erroring out at the myService.Query statement, with the following error: Google.GData.Client.GDataRequestException was unhandled Message=Execution of request failed: http://spreadsheets.google.com/feeds/spreadsheets/private/full Source=Google.GData.Client ResponseString=<HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>Not Found</TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY BGCOLOR="#FFFFFF" TEXT="#000000"> <H1>Not Found</H1> <H2>Error 404</H2> </BODY> </HTML> StackTrace: at Google.GData.Client.GDataRequest.Execute() at Google.GData.Client.GDataGAuthRequest.Execute(Int32 retryCounter) at Google.GData.Client.GDataGAuthRequest.Execute() at Google.GData.Client.Service.Query(Uri queryUri, DateTime ifModifiedSince, String etag, Int64& contentLength) at Google.GData.Client.Service.Query(Uri queryUri, DateTime ifModifiedSince) at Google.GData.Client.Service.Query(FeedQuery feedQuery) at Google.GData.Spreadsheets.SpreadsheetsService.Query(SpreadsheetQuery feedQuery) at google_spreadsheet.Program.Main(String[] args) in C:\Development Items\VS Projects\VS2008\google_spreadsheet\google_spreadsheet\Program.cs:line 21 at System.AppDomain._nExecuteAssembly(Assembly assembly, String[] args) at Microsoft.VisualStudio.HostingProcess.HostProc.RunUsersAssembly() at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(ExecutionContext executionContext, ContextCallback callback, Object state) at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart() InnerException: System.Net.WebException Message=The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found. https://docs.google.com/viewer is awesome, but there are some customizations I need to make, and documentation would be helpful. Discovered here http://googlesystem.blogspot.com... . Haven't seen any public documentation that would help. http://code.google.com/apis/documents/overview.html covers the Google docs - where the above is more a clone of the Google Books previewer http://books.google.com/books .

  • Filtering by entity key name in Google App Engine on Python

    - by Bemmu
On Google App Engine to query the data store with Python, one can use GQL or Entity.all() and then filter it. So for example these are equivalent gql = "SELECT * FROM User WHERE age >= 18" db.GqlQuery(gql) and query = User.all() query.filter("age >=", 18) Now, it's also possible to query things by key name. I know that in GQL you do it like this gql = "SELECT * FROM User WHERE __key__ >= Key('User', 'abc')" db.GqlQuery(gql) But how would you now use filter to do the same? query = User.all() query.filter("__key__ >=", ?????)

  • Google chrome extension: local storage

    - by Rohan
Hi there I'm developing an extension for Google Chrome, and have run into some trouble.I created an options.html page and added it to the manifest.json file. The page shows properly. I saved the options, and then went back to the page on which the extension is supposed to run. Unfortunately, the Local storage for the options was returning a 'null' instead of the option. If I set the local storage option directly from the extension's JS script, it works fine but not if it was set from the options page. Any idea how i can access the options.html local storage values from my Javascript file in the extension? thanks!

  • How to model a social news feed on Google App Engine

    - by PEZ
We want to implement a "News feed" where a user can see messages broadcasted by her friends, sorted with newest message first. But the feed should reflect changes in her friends list. (If she adds new friends, messages from those should be included in the feed, and if she removes friends their messages should not be included.) If we use the pubsub-test example and attach a recipient list to each message this means a lot of manipulation of the message recipients lists when users connect and disconnect friends. We first modeled publish-subscribe "fan out" using conventional RDBMS thinking. It seemed to work at first, but then, since the IN operator works the way it does, we quickly realized we couldn't continue on that path. We found Brett Slatkin's presentation from last years Google I/O and we have now watched it a few times but it isn't clear to us how to do it with "dynamic" recipient lists. What we need are some hints on how to "think" when modeling this.

  • Google app engine or Amazin ec2 for Restful services and direct access to datastore

    - by imran
I'm thinking of building a Restful app on either App engine or ec2 devloped in Java. I'm interested in opinions/experience of using the two options for this. The primary purpose is to create web services to write and retrieve data through a mobile device...basically creating an API for the service I want to create. It seems to me it would be quicker and cheaper in the beginning to go with google app engine using either restlet or grails. But I also think that I could run into problems in the future when I want to so somthing more advanced and might be restricted by app engines environment. I also want to be able to do data analysis on the data in the datastore as well. It seems that with app engine this would be hard as I don't have direct access to the datastore ( in Amazon I could still have access to the underlying db if I go with MySQL ) .

  • How can I get a static URL to a map image using the Google Static Maps API?

    - by Argote
=== BACKGROUND === Hello, so I've published a Web-App (still in "Beta") which uses the Flickr API to get information for the photos of a particular Flickr user and generates IPB code to post any of his/her images. While Flickr now gives you the IPB code to show the image and link back to the photo site directly on its site, my App also has the option of embeding the title, description, select EXIF data, location information, etc. into the post for the IPB forum. === PROBLEM === I've most recently added the option to integrate a Google Maps image of the photo's geolocation data into the post by using the Google Static Maps API. The problem is that the image URL I have is in the following form (including IPB [IMG] tags): [IMG]http://maps.google.com/maps/api/staticmap?zoom=16&size=600x600&maptype=hybrid&markers=19.387687,-99.251732&sensor=false[/IMG] Which shows this example image (In practice the image size is user selectable): However, some IPB forums seem to not support dyamic image URLs which gives me a broken image, I'd like to replace the [IMG]http://maps.google.com/maps/api/staticmap?zoom=16&size=600x600&maptype=hybrid&markers=19.387687,-99.251732&sensor=false[/IMG] with something like [IMG]http://maps.google.com/maps/api/staticmap/map0000001.png[/IMG] which should be supported by all IPB forums. Thanks in advance for your help. In case you're interested, the most recent "released" version of my Web-App can be found here: http://flickr.argote.mx/ (The changes I mention here are still on local development server).

  • Google Datastore low-level api query by key property

    - by Keyur
I'm using the low-level google datastore api and I want to query by the key property and another property (let's call it category). I need to query based on a list of keys for which I'll use the IN operator. I know that the max. number of values you can provide for the IN clause is 30. I have 2 questions: Does the limit of 30 IN values apply to the key property as well? Do I need to create a composite index on {_key_ + category} or just on {category} for this query? Thanks, Keyur

  • how to get google sitelinks on a website

    - by altvali
Hi all! There are a lot of websites that look professional in Google results. Try searching for 'stackoverflow' and you'll see at the top a result with a title, a description and a table of 8 links to stackoverflow categories. That's what i'm interested in producing for future websites. So what must be done? Does it depend on the number of visitors? how long does it take until the results start looking like that?

  • Custom keys for Google App Engine models (Python)

    - by Cameron
First off, I'm relatively new to Google App Engine, so I'm probably doing something silly. Say I've got a model Foo: class Foo(db.Model): name = db.StringProperty() I want to use name as a unique key for every Foo object. How is this done? When I want to get a specific Foo object, I currently query the datastore for all Foo objects with the target unique name, but queries are slow (plus it's a pain to ensure that name is unique when each new Foo is created). There's got to be a better way to do this! Thanks.

  • Extend Google AppEngine User in JRuby?

    - by Ryan Montgomery
I'm working with JRuby and DataMapper running on Google AppEngine. I want to add a property to the AppEngine::User like :active_calendar which is a reference to a Calendar kind. I was able to do something in Python this way using a back reference. Are these possible in JRuby? Is this possible? Do I need to subclass the User? Can I even do that? If so - how? Thanks!
