  • how to swap array-elements to transfer the array from a column-like into a row-like representation

    - by Christian Ammer
For example: the array a1, a2, a3, b1, b2, b3, c1, c2, c3, d1, d2, d3 represents following table a1, b1, c1, d1 a2, b2, c2, d2 a3, b3, c3, d3 now i like to bring the array into following form a1, b1, c1, d1, a2, b2, c2, d2, a3, b3, c3, d3 Does an algorithm exist, which takes the array (from the first form) and the dimensions of the table as input arguments and which transfers the array into the second form? I thougt of an algorithm which doesn't need to allocate additional memory, instead i think it should be possible to do the job with element-swap operations.

  • Nested foreach loops for associative array combinations

    - by JohnL
I have an associative array as follows: $myarray = array('a'=>array(), 'b'=>array(), 'c'=>array(), 'd'=>array()); I want to be able to get all pairs of elements in the array. If it wasn't an associative array, I would use nested for loops, like: for($i=0; $i<count($myarray); $i++) { for($j=$i+1; $j<count($myarray); $j++) { do_something($myarray[$i], $myarray[$j]); } } I have looked at using foreach loops, but as the inner loop goes through ALL elements, some pairs are repeated. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

  • Counting array in API JSON Response

I'm trying to do a simple count of how many refunds are in my Stripe Response but count() isn't working and I don't really know any other way of achieving this. • Looping through NSArray while subtracting values from each object? [on hold]

    - by Julian
I have NSNumber objects stored in an NSMutableArray. I am attempting to perform a calculation on each object in the array. What I want to do is: 1) Take a random higher number variable and keep subtracting a smaller number variable in increments until the value of the variable is equal to the value in the array. For example: NSMutableArray object is equal to 2.50. I have an outside variable of 25 that is not in the array. I want to subtract 0.25 multiple times from the variable until I reach less than or equal to 2.50. I also need a parameter so if the number does not divide evenly and goes below the array value, it resorts to the original array value of 2.50. Lastly, for each iteration, I want to print the values as they are counting down as a string. I was going to provide code, but I don't want to make this more confusing than it has to be. So my output would be: VALUE IS: 24.75 VALUE IS: 24.50 VALUE IS: 24.25 … VALUE IS: 2.50 END

  • Why doesn't splicing an object from an array in Javascript return the array?

    - by Allen Gould
I have an array of objects (say, a deck of cards): var deck = []; deck.push(new Card(suit, rank)); The following seems to work: var card = deck.pop(); var card = deck.shift(); (pulling from the "top" or "bottom" of the deck respectively) But if I want a card from the middle (say, if this was a hand of cards) var card = deck.splice(2,1); The object doesn't seem to get properly assigned to the variable (everything is undefined). Everything I look up says that splice should return the object that I'm removing - what am I missing?

  • How to copy a subset from an array of strings to an array of ints using Groovy?

    - by Cuga
I have a String array in a Groovy class (args to a main method): String[] args I'd like to convert the 3rd to the last element into a new array of ints. Is there an easier way to do this in Groovy other than: final int numInts = args.length - 2 final int [] intArray = new int[numInts] for (int i = 2; i < args.length; i++) { intArray[i-2]=Integer.parseInt(args[i]) } I wanted to do: final int numInts = args.length - 2 final int [] intArray = new int[numInts] System.arraycopy(args, 2, intArray, 0, numInts) But it throws a class cast exception. Thanks!

  • Getting the value from an array in the model in rails

    - by slythic
Hi all, I have a relatively simple problem. I have a model named Item which I've added a status field. The status field will only have two options (Lost or Found). So I created the following array in my Item model: STATUS = [ [1, "Lost"], [2, "Found"]] In my form view I added the following code which works great: <%= collection_select :item, :status, Item::STATUS, :first, :last, {:include_blank => 'Select status'} %> This stores the numeric id (1 or 2) of the status in the database. However, in my show view I can't figure out how to convert from the numeric id (again, 1 or 2) to the text equivalent of Lost or Found. Any ideas on how to get this to work? Is there a better way to go about this? Many thanks, Tony

  • Json Object to a Multidimensional C# Array?

    - by Nick Brooks
Is there a way to convert a Json Object to a Multidimensional C# Array? I know it might be impractical but I can't be bothered to write classes and then deserialize the strings into them. List<string> ohyeah = (List<string>)JsonConvert.DeserializeObject(g.CommToken); That returns an Invalid Cast exception! Example: {"method":"getCommunicationToken","header":{"uuid":"9B39AAB0-49A6-AC7A-BA74-DE9DA66C62B7","clientRevision":"20100323.02","session":"c0d3e8b5d661f74c68ad72af17aeb5a1","client":"gslite"},"parameters":{"secretKey":"d9b687fa10c927f102cde9c085f9377f"}} I need to get something like that : j["method"]; //This will equal to getCommunicationToken j["header"]["uuid"]; //This will equal to 9B39AAB0-49A6-AC7A-BA74-DE9DA66C62B7 I literally need to parse the json object into an array.

  • Dividing numbers between rows in MySQL + PHP

    - by André Figueira
Hi I am working on a kind of raffle system which divides 1 million random numbers into an x amount of tickets, e.g. 1 million random numbers to 10,000 tickets. Each ticket is a row in a database, we then have another table ticket numbers in which i need to give 100 numbers to each ticket they are related by the ticket id. So at the moment this is my code: //Amount of the 1 million tickets divided to the tickets $numbersPerTickets = $_POST['numbersPerTicket']; //The total cost of the property $propertyPrice = $_POST['propertyPrice']; //The total amount of tickets $totalTickets = NUMBER_CIELING / $numbersPerTickets; //The ticket price $ticketPrice = $propertyPrice / $totalTickets; //Generate array with random numbers up to 999,999 $randomTicketNumbers = createTicketNumbers(); //Creation loop counter $ticketCreationCount = 1; //Loop and create each ticket while($ticketCreationCount <= $totalTickets) { //Create a padded ticket number $ticketNumber = str_pad($ticketCreationCount, 6, 0, STR_PAD_LEFT); $query = ' INSERT INTO tickets( propertyID, ticketNumber, price ) VALUES( "'.$propertyID.'", "'.$ticketNumber.'", "'.$ticketPrice.'" ) '; $db->query($query); //Get the ID of the inserted ticket to use to insert the ticket numbers $ticketID = $db->insert_id; $loopBreak = $numbersPerTickets; $addedNumberCount = 1; foreach($randomTicketNumbers as $key => $value) { $query = ' INSERT INTO ticketNumbers( ticketID, number ) VALUES( "'.$ticketID.'", "'.$value.'" ) '; $db->query($query); unset($randomTicketNumbers[$key]); if($addedNumberCount == $loopBreak){ break; }else{ $addedNumberCount++; } } $ticketCreationCount++; } But this isn't working it adds the right amount of tickets, which in the case for testing is 10,000 but then adds far too many ticket numbers, it ends up exceeding the million numbers in the random tickets array, The random tickets array is just a simple 1 tier array with 1 million numbers sorted randomly.

  • kQuery : Trying to find a specific instance of a class by number

    - by mattelliottIT
I guess I have just hit a mental block with this one; maybe some fresh eyes will help. Basically I have a few instance of the class "menu-item" which when clicked call the click function via jQuery and bring up a video. Instead of giving each on an id as well as a class I am trying to find which instance of the class was clicked (1, 2, 3, etc). Just can't seem to get it though. //click listener for menu-items $('.menu-item').click(function(event) { var o = $('.menu-item'); var count = o.length(); // switch(count) { case 0 : filename == 'letters'; break; case 1 : filename == 'the-gift'; break; } var videoPlayer = '<video controls width="618px">'; videoPlayer += '<source src="_video/' + filename + '.mp4" />'; videoPlayer += '</video>'; //place video $('#videoCont').html(videoPlayer); }); I'm trying to create an array there where each instance of the 'menu-item' is one array item. (btw, for now I am just proofing this with an mp4 filetype before I add in the ogv and webm formats). Thanks for any and all help!

  • PHP Array saved to Text file

    - by coffeemonitor
    I've saved a response from an outside server to a text file, so I don't need to keep running connection requests. Instead, perhaps I can use the text file for my manipulation purposes, until I'm read for re-connecting again. (also, my connection requests are limited to this outside server) Here is what I've saved to a text file: records.txt Array ( [0] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 552 [date_created] => 2012-02-23 10:30:56 [date_modified] => 2012-03-09 18:55:26 [date_deleted] => 2012-03-09 18:55:26 [first_name] => Test [middle_name] => [last_name] => Test [home_phone] => (123) 123-1234 [email] => [email protected] ) [1] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 553 [date_created] => 2012-02-23 10:30:56 [date_modified] => 2012-03-09 18:55:26 [date_deleted] => 2012-03-09 18:55:26 [first_name] => Test [middle_name] => [last_name] => Test [home_phone] => (325) 558-1234 [email] => [email protected] ) ) There's actually more in the Array, but I'm sure 2 are fine. Since this is a text file, and I want to pretend this is the actual outside server (sending me the same info), how do I make it a real array again? I know I need to open the file first: <?php $fp = fopen('records.txt', "r"); // open the file $theData = fread($fh, filesize('records.txt')); fclose($fh); echo $theData; ?> So far $theData is a string value. Is there a way to convert it back to the Array it originally came in as?

  • Send mail to multiple recipient

    - by Ahmad Maslan
    Hi, i have already research on using the mail() to send to multiple recipient's but i just cant get it to work. What im trying to do is, for every order that i have, order 1,2,3, each having their own email addresses, when i change their order status from pending to confirm, the mail() will use that id to refer to the db table and send the email of those 3 orders. But for my case, it mailed just the latest order which is order 3. This is the form that i use to change the order status. <form action="results-action" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <fieldset> <table id ="table_id" class="display"> <thead> <tr><td><h2>Pending Order</h2></td></tr> <tr> <th scope="col">Order ID</th> <th scope="col"> </th> <th scope="col">Name</th> <th scope="col">Address</th> <th scope="col">Product Name</th> <th scope="col">Produt Quantity</th> <th scope="col">Price</th> <th scope="col">Order status</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <?php while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result)) { ?> <tr> <td><input type="text" value='<?=$row['virtuemart_order_id']?>' name="orderid" id="virtuemart_order_id"></td> <td><input type="hidden" value='<?=$row['virtuemart_product_id']?>' name="productid" id="virtuemart_product_id"></td> <td><?=$row['first_name']?></td> <td><?=$row['address_1']?></td> <td><?=$row['order_item_name']?></td> <td><?=$row['product_quantity']?></td> <td><?=$row['product_final_price'] ?></td> <td><select name='change[<?=$row['virtuemart_order_id']?>]'> <option value='C'> Confirmed</option> <option value='X'> Cancelled</option></select></td> </tr> <?php } ?> </tbody> </table> </fieldset> <fieldset> <table> <tr> <td><input type="submit" value="Update status" name="update status"> </td> </tr> </table> </fieldset> </form> This is the php, using the order id from the form to select the email addresses. <?php $orderid = $_POST['orderid']; // build SQL statement to select email addresses $query3 = "SELECT email from ruj3d_virtuemart_order_userinfos where virtuemart_order_id = '$orderid'"; // execute SQL statement $result3 = mysqli_query($link, $query3) or die(mysqli_error($link)); $subject = "Order confirmed by Home and decor"; $message = "Hello!   • Display latest date from a HTML attribute

    - by Tron
I currently have several classes which contain a date inside an attribute. <div id="container"> <div class="date" date="19/11/2013"></div> <div class="date" date="06/11/2013"></div> </div> <div id="result"></div> What I would like to do, is find the latest date and display it on the page. So far, I've found the information in the attribute, checked that it doesn't exist in the array then and pushed it into an array. I'm not entirely sure of the best approach from here, but ideally i would like to find the latest date and then append it to the results container. $('.date').each(function () { var dateArray = []; var date = $(this).attr('date'); if ($.inArray(date, dateArray) == -1) { dateArray.push(date); } $('#result').append(dateArray); }); Any assistance on the above would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

To do this, I loaded and evaluated the new file (which uses the same structure and key names), then loaded and evaluated the older version, overwriting the new untranslated values in the array with the values we already have translated. So far so good! However, I want to be able to echo out the constructor for this new merged array so I can cut and paste it into the new translation file, and have job done (apart from completing the rest of the translations..). The code looks like this (lots of different keys, not just index): $lang["index"]["chart1_label1"] = "Subscribed"; $lang["index"]["chart1_label2"] = "Unsubscribed"; And the old.. $lang["index"]["chart1_label1"] = "Subscrito"; $lang["index"]["chart1_label2"] = "Não subscrito"; After loading the two files, I end up with a merged $lang array, which I then want to echo out in the same form, so it can be used by the project. However, when I do something like this.. foreach ($lang as $key => $value) { if (is_array($value)) { foreach ($value as $key2 => $value2) { echo "$lang['".$key."']"; // ... etc etc } } } ..obviously I get "ArrayIndex" etc etc instead of "$lang". How to echo out $lang without it being evaluated..? Once this is working, can add in the rest of the brackets etc (I realise they are missing), but just want to make this part work first. If there's a better way to do this, all ears too! Thanks.

  • Button to add value to array and then compare result with another array on IPhone.

    - by slickplaid
I have ten buttons that each correspond to a different number. I'm looking to record the order that these buttons are pressed and enter them into an array and then compare it to another array that is static in the app. The check should be done on the Nth button press, where N equals the number of items in the other, static array. How do I A) have a button press add a value to an array B) stop after Nth button press equal to amount of numbers in the array I'm checking against and C) compare this array to the other array?

  • Building an array out of values from another array

    - by George
This is a follow up from a question of mine that was just answered concerning parsing numbers in an array. I have an array, data[], with numbers that I'd like to use in a calculation and then put the resulting values into another array. So say data[0] = 100. I'd like to find a percentage using the calculatin, (data[0]/dataSum*100).toFixed(2) where dataSum is the sum of all the numbers in data[]. I've tried: dataPercentage = []; for (var i=0; i < data.length; i++) { data[i] = parseFloat(data[i]); dataSum += data[i]; // looping through data[i] and setting it equal to dataPercentage. dataPercentage[] = (data[i]/dataSum*100).toFixed(2); // thought maybe I was overriding dataPercentage everytime I looped? dataPercentage[] += (data[i]/dataSum*100).toFixed(2); } I also tried just setting dataPercentage = [(data/dataSum*100).toFixed(2)], but I think this creates a nested array, which I don't think is what I need.

  • How do I add values in an array when there is a null entry?

    - by Angela
I want to create a real time-series array. Currently, I am using the statistics gem to pull out values for each 'day': define_statistic :sent_count, :count => :all, :group => 'DATE(date_sent)', :filter_on => {:email_id => 'email_id > = ?'}, :order => 'DATE(date_sent) ASC' What this does is create an array where there are values for a date, for example [["12-20-2010",1], ["12-24-2010",3]] But I need it to fill in the null values, so it looks more like: [["12-20-2010",1], ["12-21-2010",0], ["12-22-2010",0], ["12-23-2010",0], ["12-24-2010",3]] Notice how the second example has "0" values for the days that were missing from the first array.
