  • Logon script for a mixed operating system environment

    Hi Friends, I have a Active Directory controller on a Windows 2003 server. My users use Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Novell Operating system on client machines. I need to create a login script which is interoperable on all the client operating systems. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated on how to accomplish this. I was searching for a script which when runs, detects the target OS type and then run the related script to that OS. Any Ideas?

    Has anyone seen where script/console and script/server load two different databases (though both report using the same)? I then run my standard code for entering a form - no problems. Checking the Dev Database (.yml at bottom): mysql> select * from books; [...] | 712 | Book | Book Name | 2010-03-21 22:29:22 | 2010-03-21 22:29:22 | [...] 712 rows in set (0.00 sec) The code CLEARLY saved it seconds ago And now here's the output of script/console: $ script/console Loading development environment (Rails 2.3.5) >> Books.all => [] Nothing. Further, upon further inspection, it's using the production database, but I can't figure out why. Any thoughts here? All consoles have been closed and reopened.     I have built an object in Javascript on the Google Apps Script engine and every time I run my script I get a reference error saying uName is not defined. Here is the relivant code: function DataSet() { this.uName = ""; this.dFeild = ""; this.qUrl = "http://api.bfbcs.com/api/pc?players="+uName+"&fields="+dFeilds; this.data = ""; this.dQuery = dQuery; this.execQuery = execQuery; According to all sources I have found, I should not need to use the keyword var, and when I do include that, it throws other errors.   • How to check location of 32bit Program FIles folder in windows .bat script

    I want to write .bat script which works under all flavours of Windows, no matter if 32 or 64 bit. In this script I want to run some file.exe. That file is located in C:\Program Files\ under 32-bit systems or C:\Program FIles (x86)\ under x64 systems. I can write: "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\file.exe" under 64bit systems or "%ProgramFiles%\file.exe" under 32bit systems but I want to make the script universal. Is there any way of determining that path universally?

  • v8 is too slow for my purpose

    I'm working on a music visualization plugin for libvisual. It's an AVS clone -- AVS being from Winamp. Right now I have a superscope plugin. This element has 4 scripts, and "point" is run at every pixel. You can imagine that it has to be rather fast. The original libvisual avs clone had a JIT compiler that was really fast, but it had some bugs and wasn't fully implemented, so I decided to try v8. Well, v8 is too slow running the compiled script at every pixel. Is there any other script engine that would be pretty fast for this purpose?

    I have a bunch of (50+) XML files in a directory that I would like to insert into a SQL server 2008 table. How can I create a SQL script from the command prompt or Powershell that will let me insert the files into a simple table with the following schema: XMLDataFiles ( xmlFileName varchar(255) , content xml ) All I need is for something to generate a script with a bunch of insert statements. Right now, I'm contemplating writing a silly little .NET console app to write the SQL script. Thanks.

  • Trying to execute netdom.exe from a ruby script or IRB does nothing

    I'm trying to write a script that will rename a computer and join it to a domain, and was planning to call on netdom.exe to do the dirty work. However, trying to run this utility in the script (same results in irb) does absolutely nothing. No output, no execution. I tried with backticks and with the system() method. System() returns false for everything but system("netdom") (which returns true). Backticks never return anything but an empty string. I have verified that netdom runs and works in the environment the script will be running in, and I'm calling other command-line utilities earlier in the script that work (w32tm, getmac, ping). Here's the exact line that gets executed: `netdom renamecomputer %COMPUTERNAME% /NewName:#{newname} /force` FYI, This is windows 7 x64

When would I use each one The script above only deletes file...how can I delete folders as well? The script above is based off of LastWriteTime .. what about CreatedDate or LastAccessed time?

    I'm writing a script to ssh in to a list of machines and compare a variable to another value.. I've run into a problem (I have a couple workarounds, but at this point I'm just wondering why this method isn't working). VAR=ssh $i "awk -F: '/^bar/ {print \$2}' /local/foo.txt" ($i would be a hostname. The hosts are trusted, no password prompt is given) Example of foo.txt: foo:123456:abcdef bar:789012:ghijkl baz:345678:mnopqr I'm assuming it's a problem with quotes, or \'s needed somewhere. I've tried several methods (different quoting, using $() instead of ``, etc) but can't seem to get it right. My script is working correctly using the following: VAR=ssh $i "grep bar /local/foo.txt" | awk -F: '{print \$2}' Like I said, just a curiousity, any response is appreciated.

This parameter indicate to my jar wich property file to use in order to setup some configuration. Then the script will zip the results produced by the jar and send them to a location. How to continue execution after running this script. Problem is that build.bat never end and you must manually close it. i look here http://ss64.com/nt/start.html but no command to conitinue executing while webdev.webserver is running.

    Hi, lets say I have a script like that: if(some condition) begin select somecolumn from sometable end Lets say, that "somecolumn" does not exist and the condition is not true, which means the select is NOT executed. Even though the select would not be executed, the script is not valid, Management Studio complains about the missing column "somecolumn". Question: Can I somehow disable this sort of check so that the script is executed and since the if is not true, it will never notice that the column is missing? Thanks :-)

    I have the following (bash) shell script, that I would ideally use to kill multiple processes by name. #!/bin/bash kill `ps -A | grep $* | awk '{ print $1 }'` However, while this script works is one argument is passed: end chrome (the name of the script is end) it does not work if more than one argument is passed: $end chrome firefox grep: firefox: No such file or directory What is going on here? I thought the $* passes multiple arguments to the shell script in sequence. I'm not mistyping anything in my input - and I the programs I want to kill (chrome and firefox) are open. Any help is appreciated.

    Can someone tell me how to tell Wordpress' tinymce editor to NOT strip out script tags? I looked in wp-admin/includes/post.php and added 'extended_valid_elements'=>'script[charset|defer|language|src|type]', to the $initArray.   • Automatic exit from bash shell script on error

    Hi, I've been writing some shell script and I would find it useful if there was the ability to halt the execution of said shell script if any of the commands failed. See below for an example: #!/bin/bash cd some_dir ./configure --some-flags make make install So in this case if the script can't change to the indicated directory then it would certainly not want to do a ./configure afterward it fails. Now I'm well aware that I could have an if check for each command (which I think is a hopeless solution), but is there a global setting to make the script exit if one of the commands fails?
