  • Changing keyboard layout on application focus

    - by Anonymous Coward
Hi Everyone As everybody knows the en-US Keyboard-layout is the best one for programming. So I'd like to use it in my IDEs. But since I live in a non-en-US country I need the de-CH layout for all other applications. Now I wonder if it is possible to set the layout depending to which application currently has the focus. If that is possible, can a human brain adapt to such a behaviour or is it just confusing? cheers, AC

  • Magento layout related basic Questions ?

    - by user197992
Here is what I think about Magento (plz correct me if I am wrong ) 1)Each module has its own layout.xml stored in /interface/theme/layouts/ folder. 2)Magento loads all these layouts for current theme and creates a big xml file. Now what I am confused at . a)If magento loads /default/default/ (interface & theme) then why all the templates & layouts are inside base/default/ ?? b)what if I create my module name “page” inside my namespace “Jason” i.e Jason_Page , now what will happen to blocks in layout files which are named c)Since all the layouts are loaded and merged into one big xml file , then what happen to all those reference blocks which have same name attribute and are inside “Default” handle tag ? e.g d)what is Local.xml layout for and its use ?? e)wats the relation ship between a module name foo , and its layout name foo.xml ? What will happen to layout.xml if two modules with same name exist in diff namespace ? Thanks in advance .

  • Strange problem with ie6 messing up layout, and fixing byitself some time after loading

    - by 0al0
We have a big ie6 layout problem with a newly launched website: in the header in our homepage, we have a coda-slider, and apparently its messing upt the wole layout of the front page. I have been looking at float and height problems but cannot seem to solve it. Also, the most strange part is that if you wait a while after loading, the layout "fixes itself". Help! The url is the following (without the spaces, sorry) w w w . r e - c r e a r t . c o m Edit: update, it sounds crazy, but if you press control and use the mouse wheel (as if you were zooming in /out in a modern browser, although ie6 doesnt do that) the layout fixes as well. Please help, I am going crazy.

  • NM applet dropdown options not working

    - by Prarobo
I recently realized the dropdown options from my nm-applet are no longer working. But I can still control the network configuration by going through the dash. This happened very recently. I only realized this before a week. I guess some recent update screwed it up. I have these related packages installed network-manager-gnome 0.9.4.1-0ubuntu2 libnm-gtk0 0.9.4.1-0ubuntu2 network-manager 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu4.1 Any help would be great.

  • Using java2d user space measurements with TextLayout and LineBreakMeasurer

    - by Andrew Wheeler
I have a java2d image defined in user space (mm) to print an identity card. The transformation to pixels is by using an AffineTransform for the required DPI (Screen or print). I want to wrap text across several lines but the the TextLayout does not respect user space co-ordinates. private void drawParagraph(Graphics2D g2d, Rectangle2D area, String text) { LineBreakMeasurer lineMeasurer; AttributedString string = new AttributedString(text); AttributedCharacterIterator paragraph = string.getIterator(); int paragraphStart = paragraph.getBeginIndex(); int paragraphEnd = paragraph.getEndIndex(); FontRenderContext frc = g2d.getFontRenderContext(); lineMeasurer = new LineBreakMeasurer(paragraph, frc); float breakWidth = (float)area.getWidth(); float drawPosY = (float)area.getY(); float drawPosX = (float)area.getX(); lineMeasurer.setPosition(paragraphStart); while (lineMeasurer.getPosition() < paragraphEnd) { TextLayout layout = lineMeasurer.nextLayout(breakWidth); drawPosY += layout.getAscent(); layout.draw(g2d, drawPosX, drawPosY); drawPosY += layout.getDescent() + layout.getLeading(); } } The above code determines font metrics using user space sizing of the Font and thus turn out rather large. The font size is calculated as best vertical fit for the number of lines in an area with the calculation as below. E.g. attr.put(TextAttribute.SIZE, (geTextArea().getHeight() / noOfLines - LINE_SPACING) ); When using g2d.drawString("Some text to display", x, y); the font size appears correct. Does anyone have a better way of doing text layout in user space co-ords?

  • Problem using FormLayout in Swing

    - by Dimitri
Hi I am using the FormLayout. I just discovered it and it's powerful layout manager. I would like to layout 4 components (outlined, properties, tgraph, library) in 3 columns. I want to layout my library component on top of the outlined component in one column, the graph and the properties component in one column. But it doesn't work. Maybe I miss something. Here is my code : private void layoutComponent() { JPanel panel = new JPanel(); FormLayout layout = new FormLayout( "right:p,10dlu,300dlu,left:max(50dlu;p)", "top:pref, center:p,p"); layout.setRowGroups(new int[][]{{1,3}}); PanelBuilder builder = new PanelBuilder(layout, panel); builder.setDefaultDialogBorder(); CellConstraints constraints = new CellConstraints(); builder.add(library, constraints.xy(1, 1)); builder.add(outline,constraints.xy(1, 3)); builder.add(tgraph,constraints.xy(3, 1)); builder.add(properties,constraints.xy(4, 1)); getContentPane().add(panel);r code here } Can someone help plz. Thx :)

  • Using curly braces with a standard pc keyboard on a mac laptop

    - by raoulsson
I have a standard PC keyboard connection to my Mac laptop. All keys work fine but the special characters that need "Alt-Gr" as accelerator keys would not work. I have a Swiss layout where the curly braces are such special keys. However I need them all the time and having to get used to a different layout is too painful (I'd rather get used to a US Layout once and for all). Does anyone have an idea how to switch this? Note: I have managed to switch the option and the command key, so that's not my problem.

  • Default Keyboard for new users in Windows 7

    - by xited
I just installed Windows 7 and I want all users signing in to the computer to see the Language Bar customized with the following three languages: "English (American)" "French (Standard)" "Chinese (Simplified PRC)" I am running the following four lines of code at log on in order to change the registry such that each user will see the language bar, and then have access to the three keyboard layouts mentioned above. reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\CTF\LangBar" /v ShowStatus /t REG_DWORD /d 4 /f reg add "HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload" /v 2 /d 0000040c reg add "HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload" /v 3 /d 00000c0a reg add "HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload" /v 4 /d 00000804 The above works fine, but with one small/major inconvenience: the user has to log off and then log back on in order for these changes to take effect and see the language bar, as described above. The question becomes: How can I force these changes to take effect so that users don't have to log off and then log back in to see the language bar. This has to be done automatically when users log in.

  • Mouse/Touchpad not working in Mac OS X Lion Pre-Boot Authentication (PBA) with File Vault 2

    - by Chris
I set up File Vault 2 in Mac OS X Lion with Pre-Boot Authentication (PBA). In PBA-login my USB-keyboard is working, while using a wrong keyboard layout. I can neither use my magic touchpad nor an USB-mouse in PBA. Thus I can't change the keyboard layout located in the upper right corner. I tried unplugging all USB-devices except keyboard and mouse. Nothing seems to help and the mouse cursor isn't moving. How can I get magic trackpad or USB-mouse to work in PBA login screen or manually set the used keyboard layout in PBA? Update: Still no (USB-)mouse or bluetooth trackpad support in File Vault 2 Login Screen. Today I talked to Apple Support for over one hour with no result. Every idea is appreciated.

  • Two keyboards - one qwerty one dvorak. Can windows use both simultaneously?

    - by Alain
Similar to this question: Is it possible to use multi keyboards with multi keyboard layouts simultaneously? - I have two keyboards plugged in simultaneously. Both are querty keyboards, but I've rearranged the keys on one to be a dvorak layout. I'd like to find some way to configure windows (XP) such that while both keyboards are plugged in, typing on each results in it's respective layout. I'd prefer if there was someway to have the system automatically use the desired layout based on which USB keyboard it is receiving input from. If no such solution is possible, I would settle for a fast way of switching between US English and US English Dvorak languages so that in a pinch I can easily go from one to the other. Thanks.

  • How to stop windows from adding additional keyboards to languages

    - by MMavipc
I have the English language setup with the normal en-us layout, and only this layout. I have the Spanish language setup with united states - international layout. When I switch to English it gives me the option to select the regular keyboard or the international version. Only the regular version is listed under EN in my language settings. How do I get it to remove the international keyboard from English? Sometimes it switches to international while I'm on English mode and screws up my typing, which is a pain in the ass.

  • How to make the tokenizer detect empty spaces while using strtok()

    - by Shadi Al Mahallawy
I am designing a c++ program, somewhere in the program i need to detect if there is a blank(empty token) next to the token used know eg. if(token1==start) { token2=strtok(NULL," "); if(token2==NULL) {LCCTR=0;} else {LCCTR=atoi(token2);} so in the previous peice token1 is pointing to start , and i want to check if there is anumber next to the start , so I used token2=strtok(NULL," ") to point to the next token but unfortunattly the strtok function cannot detect empty spaces so it gives me an error at run time"INVALID NULL POINTER" how can i fix it or is there another function to use to detect empty spaces #include <iostream> #include<string> #include<map> #include<iomanip> #include<fstream> #include<ctype.h> using namespace std; • Upgrading Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 when Update Manager doesn't let you

    - by nickf
I've been trying to upgrade my installation of Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10, but all of the instructions I've found haven't been helping. They mostly say to run the update manager and it'll tell you that there's a new distribution ready. Well, mine doesn't say that. Things I've run or checked: update-manager -d says: Your system is up-to-date The package information was last updated less than one hour ago. I've set it to get all new distributions, not just LTS $ cat /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades [DEFAULT] # default prompting behavior, valid options: # never - never prompt for a new distribution version # normal - prompt if a new version of the distribution is available # lts - prompt only if a LTS version of the distribution is available Prompt=normal I'm definitely running 9.04 $ lsb_release -r Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 9.04 Release: 9.04 Codename: jaunty Even running the release upgrade from console doesn't help: $ sudo do-release-upgrade Checking for a new ubuntu release No new release found This is running from behind a proxy, but I've set it up such that the regular upgrades and apt-get etc doesn't complain. (export http_proxy=http://myuser:mypass@myserver:8080/) Could you think of anything else which might be stopping me from upgrading?

  • Lion server profile manager, device enrollment doesn't work

    - by user964406
I am in the process of setting up Lion Servers profile manager to manage iPads on our local school network. I don't need to manage them while they are outside the network. I have successfully had it working on my personal network. The school network is behind a proxy which we have no control over. I can get the iPads to view the mydevices page and install a trust cert. I have managed to get an iPad to successfully install the remote management profile. After this the profile manager bugs out. It will list the active task of 'new device (sending)' but it's unable to complete the task. If I click on the device on profile manager and try any of the actions out they will all fail to complete. I am using the auto generated certificates and this works if I bring the server and iPad outside of the school network. Shortly after device enrollment the system log on the Lion server reports the following Replaced the actual ip address with INTERNALIP Jun 4 08:40:53 mini sandboxd[760] ([778]): applepushservice(778) deny network-outbound INTERNALIP:8080 Jun 4 08:40:53 mini sandboxd[760] ([778]): applepushservice(778) deny network-outbound INTERNALIP:8080 Jun 4 08:40:53 mini applepushserviced[778]: Got connection error Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=1 "The operation couldn\u2019t be completed. • Cannot log into Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g: ORA-28001

    - by Álvaro G. Vicario
I can no longer log into Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g. I get this error message: ORA-28001: the password has expired (DBD ERROR: OCISessionBegin) I could log into the server using SQL*Plus. I warned me that the password was going to expire in 7 days (which is not the same as being already expired). Following advice from several documents, I ran these commands from SQL*Plus: ALTER USER sys IDENTIFIED BY new_password; ALTER USER system IDENTIFIED BY new_password; SQL*Plus no longer warns about passwords, but I still cannot use the Enterprise Manager. • "The directory name is invalid" when trying to install drivers in Windows 7 via Device Manager

    - by Luke
First off, this computer is not mine, it's a customer's system. Having said that... The hard drive was moved to a new motherboard, CPU, RAM combo, and booted up fine. Customer puts in driver CD, drivers won't load. He brings it into me. Under Device Manager for Windows 7 x64, I see lots of PCI to PCI bridge, one SMBus Controller, and about 20 Unknown Devices. Greeeeeat... So I start with the SMBus driver directly from the Asus website for the motherboard (P8H77-M Pro). If I install from the setup program, it tells me to reboot, then it starts the install. It gets half way through the setup, then fails (An unknown error occurred. Setup will exit). When I try to point to the folder from Device Manager, it starts copying files for the driver, even presents me with the proper name of the device, but says that an error has occurred there as well: The directory name is invalid. Doing some Googling, I saw that many people had this issue with Vista. K, Vista and 7 are similar, maybe the solutions are the same... But they aren't. I tried: Copying the entire driver folder and setup utility to the Program Files folder and running it / selecting it in DM Downloading another set of drivers in case this one is corrupt Disabling UAC Deleting and recreating the %WINDIR%\TEMP folder Removing all references to previous hardware that I could find, even in Device Manager's hidden mode So far, nothing has worked. A wipe and reload will be out of the question

  • Why should main() be short?

    - by Stargazer712
I've been programming for over 9 years, and according to the advice of my first programming teacher, I always keep my main() function extremely short. At first I had no idea why. I just obeyed without understanding, much to the delight of my professors. After gaining experience, I realized that if I designed my code correctly, having a short main() function just sortof happened. Writing modularized code and following the single responsibility principle allowed my code to be designed in "bunches", and main() served as nothing more than a catalyst to get the program running. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I was looking at Python's souce code, and I found the main() function: /* Minimal main program -- everything is loaded from the library */ ... int main(int argc, char **argv) { ... return Py_Main(argc, argv); } Yay Python. Short main() function == Good code. Programming teachers were right. Wanting to look deeper, I took a look at Py_Main. In its entirety, it is defined as follows: /* Main program */ int Py_Main(int argc, char **argv) { int c; int sts; char *command = NULL; char *filename = NULL; char *module = NULL; FILE *fp = stdin; char *p; • OSX Server 10.5 - Cannot log into Workgroup Manager - diradmin password is correct

    - by Mister IT Guru
I've got a setup where I am trying to rescue a broken AD. We can no longer authenticate on the Workgroup manager, with passwords being rejected all the time - even though it is correct. I can connect using the workgroup manager on another server and I get the user list as expected, but when I click the padlock to make changes, I get the following screen: The problem is, I know the password is correct, I just used it to connect to the server in the first place. I can log into the server using the local admin, and services such as AFP, VPN and SMB continue to serve users. I have about 300 or so users on this server, and I would very much like to avoid having a rebuild. As there is much configuration that has been done without my knowledge (it's a client machine), I'd like to attempt to fix it, and then create another server and migration OD off this broken machine, then decommission it "gently". Ultimately this would mean no disruption of services. What I'd like it some tips as to how to fix the problem with authenticating to make changes in the work group manager, and maintenance on open directory in general. Thanks
