  • Change Check Out Folder for checked out files in SourceSafe

    I had to rebuild my machine and went from XP to Windows 7. I've now got a bit of an issue: I had files checked out in SourceSafe previously, which I still have copies of in the local folder on my new install. However, SourceSafe still has them checked out to the old XP folder (c:\documents and settings etc) whereas the files now reside in c:\Users. Pending Checkins in Visual Studio now thinks I have nothing checked out, and SourceSafe declares that the files are checked out to me under the c:\documents and settings\ path. Is there any way to tell SourceSafe to simply "look over there" for the files instead? It seems to work with individually undoing and redoing checkout on the files, but that's a lengthy process and one I'd like to avoid if possible. If I simply checkout the files individually then it lists them as checked out to me twice, one for each of the locations. Any pointers would be very much appreciated!

    On a website users can upload pictures. For security reasons these are stored outside the webroot (public_html) folder. When I need to display the picture, I send the headers and have "readfile" read and output the picture data, like so: header("Pragma: public"); header("Expires: 0"); // set expiration time header("Cache-Control: must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0"); header('Content-type: image/jpg'); header('Content-Length: ' . $filesize); readfile($path_url . '/' . $photo); This works great, but the site is growing and this is starting to be a burden on the server. Question: is there a way to send the picture or picture data to the user, without the server first having to load the picture (obviously with the picture still being stored outside the webroot folder)?     It seems that I accidentally checked in my "gen" folder from an Android project (this folder contains the R.java generated class). When I realized I did this I deleted it from SVN and tried to ignore it. Now I am now getting the error... "Could not add gen to the ignore list! Working copy 'C:\code\guru' locked. When I try to run a cleanup command I get this... Cleanup failed to process the following paths: -C:\code\guru 'C:\code\guru\gen' is not a working copy directory. When I try to run a resolve I get this... Working copy 'C:\code\guru' locked Please execute the 'Cleanup' command. We are currently on SVN 1.6 on the server.

    My ASP.NET Website (C#, 3.5 framework, IIS7) is hosted at GoDaddy. There are multiple sites on the account. Currently when I perform postbacks or Response.Redirects on a secondary web site, the following URL appears in the address bar: www.mywebsite.com/webfolder/default.aspx Where the "webfolder" is the sub-directory on the server where the web site is hosted (i.e. SeverRoot/webfolder). The site seems to work with or without the folder in the URL. Is there a way to remove the folder from the URLs during postback? I think I have to use URL Rewriting (which GoDaddy supports using Microsoft's Rewrite Module) but I'm not sure how.

  • Selecting the App Pool for a web custom folder in a Web Setup Project (Visual Studio)

    I've got a Web Setup Project in VS2008 that is taking the files for two web applications and turning them into a single setup package. This works and I have got it asking for the user to select the application pool but the application pool is only being applied to the project sat in the Web Application Folder and not the one in the Web Custom Folder that I added for the second project. How do I force it to set both applications to the same app pool? Thanks in advance for any help on this it seems like it should be simple but I've been mucking round with it for ages to no avail.

    I, like many developers, got an email from Apple recently that stated we should move our data from the documents directory into another folder to permit more streamlined backup to iCloud. In recent testing it appears that [your app] stores a fair amount of data in its Documents folder. Since iCloud backups are performed daily over Wi-Fi for each user's iOS device, it's important to ensure the best possible user experience by minimizing the amount of data being stored by your app. Marco Arment, of instapaper fame, has a good take on the issue, which is that the recommended location for storing downloadable files is in /Library/Caches. However, the problem is that both /tmp and /Caches can be 'cleaned' anytime the OS decides that the device is running low on storage. If your app is cleaned then the data downloaded by your app and stored by your user is gone. Naturally, the user will blame you and not Apple. What to do?

    I'm moving my site to a new host but I need to have my current server continue to handle requests (not all files can be moved to the new server). So I added a parked domain to my old server (old.mydomain.com) and I want all requests to it to be written to the files from the old site. My old site (mydomain.com) was hosted internally in a folder (/public_html/mydomain/) and I want all requests to old.mydomain.com to be rewritten to the same folder. So if mydomain.com/blog was internally at /public_html/mydomain/blog I now want old.mydomain.com/blog also to reach /public_html/mydomain/blog. Here is the .htaccess that I'm trying to use: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^old\.mydomain\.com/* RewriteRule ^(.*)$ mydomain/$1 [NC,L] but for some reason as soon as I add the $1 in the rewrite rule I get an internal error. Any ideas?

But it printed lines like: Dir >> /home/tom/Music/seahorse-gw2jNn Dir >> /home/tom/Music/FlashXX9kV847 Dir >> /home/tom/Music/pulse-DcIEoxW5h2gz This is, the correct file names, but the wrong path (and this files are not either in my Music folder).. What's wrong with this code?

    I’m running a batch to do an update to my sql table. I’m using windows scheduler to run the batch file. Each day files come in at different time. Sometime they come in after my scheduled time therefore the batch file doesn’t run when there’s no file before the scheduled task in the folder. I want to create a c# program where it will loop through the folder until it finds the files and then move to the next step in the batch file. Basically my goal is to create a program that will look for those particular files and once they finds the correct files then it will start the update. I’m new to programming and need some direction.     I'm going to start writing NUnit tests for a few classes in my project. A certain number of these classes use data gathered through nhibernate from a sql server 2008 database. The part of the program I'm about to test is very specific (and complicated). Therefore I have made a folder of xml files. Combined, the xml files could result in the database structure. I mean each xml file corresponds to a table in the database. The data in the xml files is also consistent with the database. Is there a way to use this folder of xml files as data source for nhibernate? I mean: can I use nhibernate to gather my test data (wich I have specifically chosen) instead of data from the database? In this way, I could usefully test this component without corrrupting the (test) database for future tests.

  • ASP.NET 2.0 files work in one folder, but NOT in another

    I am about to leap of a building. I have created an app for a client and all the files are in a folder on their D drive. Now it is time to go production, so I copied all my files and folders to their excisting classic asp folder on the same drive. BUT NOTHING WORKS. The only difference I can see is that DEV does not require HTTPS like the production site. I also made sure all the permissions are the same on both folder. I made sure that the GAC has read rights using the aspnet_regiis tool. I am at the end of my debug knowlegde, could someone please help me out.     Hi, I want to enable the user to upload media which will not be saved in the media folder. When I use the following line of code data will be uploaded to media/upload/logo . logo_img = models.FileField(upload_to='upload/logo', blank=True) I'm wondering how I can change this behaviour. I would try to write a custom FileField and a view that serves the data based on the database entries. I do not want to place the data the user uploads to the media folder, since it is no public data. Is this approach correct? Are there solutions out there which do exactly what I want and I would reinvent the wheel with implementing this by myself? Would appreciate any help!

I used this code in my Windows Form application: Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.ApplicationData); and got the path, ""C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming"* But if I run the same code in my Winows Service project I got the path: "C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\" But I need the earlier path (got in Windows Form). How do I get the same path in Service projet also. I have user setting file, log, config file in the "C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming" folder. So I have to refer the same path both in my Windows Form application and Windows Service project.   • Bash PS1 settings - how to get the current folder back as the terminal title

    Hi all. I recently added these lines to my ~/.bashrc file to show the current branch if i'm in a git working folder, and it works nicely for that. However, what i've lost is that the current folder name used to be shown in the tab for the terminal i have open, and now it isn't: it always just says 'Terminal'. Can i get that back and still keep the git stuff? Here's the lines in question - it's the second one that's the issue, as commenting out just the second line fixes the problem. source /etc/bash_completion.d/git PS1='\h:\w$(__git_ps1 "\[\e[32m\][%s]\[\e[0m\]")$ ' I've been looking at explanations of the options for PS1 but can't see anything about the terminal window's title in there.   • Automatically copy new Jar file to Tomcat project WEB-INF/lib folder

    I am developing a Tomcat app (actually it's a Red5 app, but this is effectively the same). This contains the usual /WebContent/WEB-INF/lib folder, which is where I locate the various jars it uses. Recently, I pulled a package out of my app project, and converted into a separate Jar project which was then released as open source (this resides in the same workspace). What I want, is that when I build my Tomcat app, that Eclipse automatically pulls the latest version of the Jar I have built into its /WebContent/WEB-INF/lib folder. This is the behaviour you get with .NET when you reference one project from another, and I guess this is why I was expecting to find some way of doing it. At the moment, I have to manually copy/paste the Jar across each time I build it. Of course, ideally when I build my Tomcat app it would automatically detect if the Jar project was up-to-date too, and build it if not. Any suggestions most gratefully received.

    Hi, I've just bought a new pc, and it is running Windows 7. I'm wanting to set up all of the documents folders such that they point to folders on a second drive partition (ie. disk D:) so that I have a nice separation of os from docs. I have managed to do this for each user on the machine (by opening up properties for documents folder and changing location). Hwoever, this procedure doesn't seem to work for the public documents folder. I cannot change the location for that one (even though I have administrator privileges). It is greyed out and cannot be changed. Any ideas ? Thanks!!

  • VSS keep resetting working folder a the root of the C: drive

    I have noticed several times (that is it does not happens all the time, but occurs regulary) that VSS has forgoten my working folder settings and re-set it to be a root of the C: drive. It is very annoying to find out that some of the files you have checked out and been working on are not in the same folder where you expect them to be (and it also pollutes the drive with a C:\SubProject1, C:\SubProject2 folders instead of keeping them all inside of C:\Work). Any recomendation to prevent VSS from doing this again and again. And yes, please, don't recomment switching to SVN, CVS, TFS etc - there are the rules I can't change.
