  • Are there any free .NET OCR libraries that will perform OCR on an application window directly?

    I am looking for a free .NET OCR library that will be able to do OCR on a given application window or even a image in memory (I can take a snapshot of the application window myself). I have looked at tessnet2 and MODI but both require an image located on disk. I need to use OCR because the application I am trying to write a script for does some wacky stuff that cannot be read using windows API and I need to scrape data from the screen. I have tested both of tessnet2 and MODI and they both can read the text mostly but because this has to run in an enviroment that will not be able to write to disk, I need it to be able to read directly from the applciation window or some type of memory stream. I am thinking OCR is my only soution but there could be other methods that I am not thinking of. Suggestions?

    There is a website I am trying to pull information from in perl, however the section of the page I need is being generated using javascript so all you see in the source is <div id="results"></div> I need to somehow pull out the contents of that div and save it to a file using perl/proxies/whatever. e.g. the information I want to save would be document.getElementById('results').innerHTML; I am not sure if this is possible or if anyone had any ideas or a way to do this. I was using a lynx source dump for other pages but since I cant straight forward screen scrape this page I came here to ask about it!   • iPhone 4.0 Screen Resolution and writing robust code...

    Does anyone know what will happen with existing apps when they run on the iPhone 4.0 in terms of the new screen resolution? I am assuming, just like developing for the iPad that there should be no hard coded screen resolutions in your code. I'd also like advice on the best way of writing robust code to work well on any device. For instance, detecting the screen resolution is not enough - on the iPad the screen is physically bigger so you can display more items on it. On the new iPhone the screen is the same physical size but higher resolution, so the likely thing is that you wont want to display more items, just higher resolution versions of them. Any help would be useful, Regards Dave EDIT: I have read the other similar posts, I guess what I really would like to know is what is the recommended way to write code for all App Store devices in a robust way so they a) all work b) make best use of the device.

  • Touch Screen Running Windows CE

    I'm starting my first project that runs on a 7 inch touch screen running Windows CE 6.0 (and NETCF 3.5). The touch screen doesn't respond to touch too well when I use my finger. The only way for me to navigate around is by using a stylus (or similar). Since I've never worked with Windows CE or a resistive touch screen, I'm not sure if I should expect to be able to use my finger or if the stylus method is, essentially, the only way to effectively navigate around. - or, maybe, I have a touch screen that simply isn't that good. If you have experience with WinCE running on a touch screen, do you find that a stylus is the only way to go?

    How would I go about doing the following... I want to build a web service for my application to grab a piece of data from an external website, that requires the user to login. The website has no public API , hence the reason for the scrapper. Is there a library to perform the following functions? or what do I do? automate fill-in form, auto click Automate submit button check which URL the user has landed on, and redirect user to URL Grab data from label. But the strange thing is, that IF I did screen -x $PROCESS and detach (ctrl-A & ctrl-D) and then I use the Stop command it does work. So is there a way around to stuff printf without -screen -x the $PROCESS? Thank You in Advance

    Hi, we have a VB6 binary executable that comes with no source code. And we need to change the label text for that VB6 application from "AAA" to "BBB". Is there any way or tools that can do that? The closest tool I can find right now is microsoft UISpy, it can read all the other elements but not the label. I hope there is a tool that can change the resource in the .exe so that the label "AAA" will read "BBB". Or is it possible to write a wrapper application, it will launch the .exe, examine the application screen for "AAA" and change that to "BBB"? Thank you for your help!

  • Ubuntu 13.04 boot into black screen, even after installing nvidia drivers, fail at: "Starting Reload cups, upon starting avahi-daemon..."

    I got a new machine with i7 4770k and gefore gtx660. I installed windows and then installed Ubuntu 13.04. In the installation everything went well, after the installation I again boot from the USB and choose try ubuntu, and installed boot-repair because windows automatically boot with no option for ubuntu. After I repaired the boot, I restarted and got into grub, when I chose Ubuntu I got message saying I'm running on low graphics mode and when I pressed ok the screen turned off. I couldn't do anything so I restarted and after reading this post: My computer boots to a black screen, what options do I have to fix it? I got into recovery, selected dpkg and repaired packages. Then I rebooted, and tried to press 'e' and change quiet splash to no splash and nomodeset but unfortunately both of them didn't work, and not the screen didn't get turned off, but I just saw a blank screen. So I rebooted again, entered the recovery, and this time I went to the root shell, and tried to install nvidia drivers from this guide here: http://www.howopensource.com/2012/10/install-nvidia-geforce-driver-in-ubuntu-12-10-12-04-using-ppa/ I rebooted and got the same black screen again (the screen didn't go off, just saw a blank screen). In the grub I see that the kernel is 3.8.0-25. I also checked that the usb files are not corrupted using the check CD from the ubuntu installation screen. I'm really frustrated, I don't know what else can I do. (If someone also knows how can I connect to wifi using the root shell it will be very appreciated, because when I choose the 'enable networking' it again booting me to a black screen.   • Hide usernames shown on Windows Server 2008 Remote Desktop login screen

    When I remote desktop to my Windows Server 2008 (a hosted virtual server) I see a login screen showing an icon for each user in the system. I can click on a user then enter a password and login. This is a terrible security oversight in my opinion as it gives anyone that might want to compromise my server a full list of valid usernames. Is there a way to revert to the old style of login screen requiring both username and password? Thanks

    The following are all Windows 7 64 bit Business edition computers. I have a PC (lets call it "PC1") that I remotely access now and again using Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) on my laptop downstairs. Sometimes when I physically go back to sit at PC1, the screen is black and there is no way for me to wake it into life, no login screen or anything - the PC is still on and I am always forced to do a hard reboot.   • virtual mac osx 10.6.8 in VMWare does not save screen captures

    I have a VMWare image of a mac OSX 10.6.8 (fully updated). When I click Commnd+Shift+3 it makes a camera shutter sound, but no screen-capture is saved anywhere that I can find. When running: defaults read com.apple.screencapture location it returns /Users/admin/Pictures/Captures this folder exists and is empty also executed chmod 777 /Users/admin/Pictures/Captures Any ideas anyone ? Could this be related to the VMware screen resolution(Size) of this MAC? (currently set to 1348x1391)

  • I can't see headers or footers on Word 2007 unless in full screen view

    I have a machine on a domain that does not show any headers or footers when viewing documents in word 2007, unless I switch to full screen mode.
