When I save a Note object like this: note = Note(author=request.use, content=form.cleaned_data['content']) The conversed value is saved into the database, which is not what I wanna see.     Hi, I sometimes have the need to make sure some instances are excluded from a queryset. This is the way I do it usually: unwanted_instance = Mymodel.objects.get(pk=bad_luck_number) uninteresting_stuff_happens() my_results = MyModel.objects.exclude(id=unwanted_instance.id) or, if I have more of them: my_results = MyModel.objects.exclude(id_in=[uw_in1.id, uw_in2.id, uw_in3.id]) This 'feels' a bit clunky, so I tried if I was lucky: my_ideally_obtained_results = MyModel.objects.exclude(unwanted_instance) Which doesn't work. But I read here on SO that a subquery can be used as parameter for exclude. Am I out of luck? Am I missing some functionality (checked the docs, but didn't find any useful pointer)

  • .NET - getting form field key/value pairs?

    Hi there, I've got a form with textboxes and I want to run some server side validation code on the values after the form is submitted. I was planning to grab all the textbox controls on the page and adding them to a list, then running a for each loop that says for each control in the list query the database where fieldValidation.Name = Control.Name. This would return to me an object and an associated function where i coudl then input the Control.Value and actually perform the validation. My friend told me building the list is not necessary because all languages have a way to get key/value pairs from forms (he doesn't know .NET so coudln't help me). I may be searching the wrong term here but I have not been able to find a result, or maybe I misunderstood my friend. Is there some kind of dictionary or key/value pair automatically generated upon form submissions that contains the value that was submitted and...I guess also the control? Or am I just misunderstanding him. If he was just saying populate a key/value pair based on the form submissions, how does that help me in this situation over a list that contains the control?   • Cross field validation in jsf h:datatable using p:calendar

    I noticed this question was asked, but it has not been answered correctly. I have a datatable that has two columns start date and end date. Both contain primefaces p:calendar controls in them. I need to ensure that for each row that the date in column1 is not after the date in column2. I would like to tie this into the JSF validation framework, but I'm having trouble. i've tried marking the datatable rowStatePreserved="true" , this allows me to get the values, but something is still wrong as when it fails, all the values in the first row overwrite all the other values.     I'm stumped by this SQL problem that I suspect will be easy pickings for someone out there. I have a table that contains rows representing several daily lists of ranked items. The relevent fields are as follows: ID, ListID, ItemID, ItemName, ItemRank, Date. I have a query that returns the items that were on a list yesterday but not today (Items Off List) as follows: Select ItemID, ListID, ItemName, convert(varchar(10),MAX(date),101) as date, COUNT(ItemName) as days_on_list From Table Group By ItemID, ListID, ItemName Having Max(date) = DATEADD("d",-1,convert(varchar(10),getdate(),101)) and ListID = 1 Order By ListID, ItemName, COUNT(ItemName) Basically I'm looking for records where the max date is yesterday. It works fine and shows the number of days each item was previously on the list (although not necessarily consecutively, but that's fine for now). The problem is when I try to add ranking to see what yesterday's rank was. I tried the following: Select ItemID, ListID, ItemName, ranking, convert(varchar(10),MAX(date),101) as date, COUNT(ItemName) as days_on_list From Table Group By ItemID, ListID, ItemName, ranking Having Max(date) = DATEADD("d",-1,convert(varchar(10),getdate(),101)) and ListID = 1 Order By ListID, ItemName, ranking, COUNT(ItemName) This returns a great deal more records than the previous query so something isn't right with it. I want the same number of records, but with the ranking included. I can get the rank by doing a self-join with a subquery and getting records where the ItemID occurs yesterday but not today - but then I don't know how to get the Count any more. Appreciation in advance for any help with this. ======== SOLVED ============== Select ItemID, ListID, ItemName, ranking, convert(varchar(10),MAX(date),101) as date, COUNT(ItemName) as days_on_list from Table T Where date = DATEADD("d",-1,convert(varchar(10),getdate(),101)) and ListID = 1 and T.ItemID Not In (select T.ItemID from Table T join Table T2 on T.ItemID = T2.ItemID and T.ListID = T2.ListID where T.date = DATEADD("d",-1,convert(varchar(10),getdate(),101)) and T2.date = convert (varchar(10),getdate(),101) and T.ListID = 1) Group by ItemID, ListID, ItemName, ranking Basically, what I did was create a subquery that finds all items that appear in both days, and finds items that appeared yesterday but are not in the set of items that appeared both days. Then I was able to do the aggregate function and grouping correctly. I would NOT be surprised if this is more convoluted than necessary but I understand it and can modify it as needed and performance doesn't seem to be an issue. Thanks everyone for the assist.

    I am trying to use the MVVM pattern, and I am wondering where I place an ID value. Do I create a TextBlock that has its visibility property set to collapsed? Or is there a better place to store this kind of data?   • Puting contact number into field

    I have this code that has one button that let's me choose an entry from contacts, and passes that choesn contact to onActivityResult function. My question is how do I select data of that single contact when all that is passed is an Intent in data variable. That data variable, if converted to string shows something like "dat: content://contacts/people/4" so I see that selected contact is somehow passed, but what now? How to get that data? And also all I found by googling was examples with deprecated class People, so I don't know how too use new classes. Please help.
