  • Audio stream mangement in Linux

    - by User1
I have a very complicated audio setup for a project. Here's what we have: 3 applications playing sound 2 applications recording sound 2 sound cards I really don't really have the code to any of these applications. All I want to do is monitor and control the audio streams. Here are a few examples of operations I'd like to do while the applications are running: Mute one of the incoming audio streams. Have one of the incoming audio streams do a "solo" (be the only stream that can "talk"). Get a graph (about 30 seconds worth) of the audio that each stream produced. Send one of the audio streams to soundcard #1, but all three audio streams to soundcard #2. I would likely switch audio streams every 2 minutes or so with one of the operations listed above. A GUI would be preferred. I started looking at the sound systems in Linux and it gets extremely complex and I feel like there have been many new advances in the past few years. I see jack, pulseaudio, artsd, and several other packages. They all have some promise but where should I start? Is there something someone already built that can help?

  • Silverlight 4 MediaElement play sound

    - by NealWalters
I converted a local sound file to a resource, which built this in my XAML: <UserControl.Resources> <my:Uri x:Key="SoundFiles">file:///c:/Audio/HebrewDemo/Shalom.wav</my:Uri> </UserControl.Resources> I did this by pasting a local disk mp3 filename into source, then clicked on the "dot" by source and chose "Extract Value to Resource". When I run, it tells me that "Uri" is not valid, and sure enough, in the Intellisense, I see other elements that start with "uri" but not just URI by itself. In the real world I want to specify a dynamic mp3 file name. For example, I might have a database of foreign language words used for flashcards, I want to play a sound file on a URL. But I thought I would try to walk before running...

  • iphone - calculating the font size

    - by Mike
I have to show a label with font size = 14 when the view is 480x320. Supposing I would like to do this in a way that my code will be working well for all future device's screen sizes, including iPad and others following (I am sure more will come), what is the best way to do that? I could do this proportionally, I mean, if the scale increased X, increase the fonts X, but my concern is the different aspect ratios of the devices. The iPhone aspect ratio is 1.5, but iPad's is 1.33, and other aspect ratios can come... I am not sure if this simple scale method will be enough to produce font consistency across all devices. Any suggestions? thanks for any help.

  • playing only part of a sound using FMOD

    - by carneades
I'm trying to play only part of a sound using FMOD, say frames 50000-100000 of a 200000 frame file. I have found a couple of ways to seek forward (i.e. to start playback at frame 50000) but I have not found a way to make sure the sound stops playing at 100000. Is there any way FMOD can natively do this without having to add lbsndfile or the like into the picture? I should also mention that I am using the streaming option. I have to assume that these sounds are arbitrarily large and cannot be comfortably/quickly loaded into memory.

  • Preferred Font for Reading Documentation?

    - by Vaibhav Bajpai
I have been spending quite some time lately reading Java6 Documentation; although I use Monaco as my monospaced font of choice, I am still searching for the best font which will please my eyes while reading the documentation text. I use both Windows7 at work and Mac OS X at home for the aforementioned and currently using (Monaco+Andalus) on Windows and (Monaco+Geneva) on Mac OS X, but would love to try out better looking fonts (specifically for documentation text, since I am sold on Monaco already). I have included a screenshot of how the text looks on Windows.

  • Changing UINavigationBar font in Swift

    - by dcgoss
I have a UINavigationBar with a title in the middle. I have added a custom font ("Comic_Andy.ttf") to my app (I have checked info.plist to make sure it's listed, and I have checked the Copy Bundle Resources to make sure it has been added), and I would like the title of the UINavigationBar to be displayed in that font. From what I can gather it seems as though I'm supposed to use this in my ViewController: myNavigationBar.titleTextAttributes = [NSFontAttributeName: UIFont(name: "Comic_Andy", size: 22)] I placed that method in the viewDidLoad function of the ViewController. I have also tried this in the didFinishLaunchingWithOptions function of the AppDelegate: UINavigationBar.appearance().titleTextAttributes = [NSFontAttributeName: UIFont(name: "Comic_Andy", size: 22)] I am programming in Swift, in XCode 6 Beta 6. Many resources regarding this task have mentioned using a method called setTitleTextAttributes, which is nowhere to be seen. I can't figure it out for the life of me - I've probably spent close to 3 hours on it by now - I have checked every StackOverflow answer, every website, so please do not mark this as a duplicate. Many thanks in advance!

  • Using system Sound to play sounds

    - by Shoaibi
Here is the code: -(void)stop { NSLog(@"Disposing Sounds"); AudioServicesDisposeSystemSoundID (soundID); //AudioServicesRemoveSystemSoundCompletion (soundID); } static void completionCallback (SystemSoundID mySSID, void* myself) { NSLog(@"completion Callback"); } - (void) playall: (id) sender { [self stop]; AudioServicesAddSystemSoundCompletion (soundID,NULL,NULL, completionCallback, (void*) self); OSStatus err = kAudioServicesNoError; NSString *aiffPath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"slide1" ofType:@"m4a"]; NSURL *aiffURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:aiffPath]; err = AudioServicesCreateSystemSoundID((CFURLRef) aiffURL, &soundID); AudioServicesPlaySystemSound (soundID); NSLog(@"Done Playing"); } Output: Disposing Sounds Done Playing In actual no sound gets play at all and completion call back isn't called as well. Any idea what could be wrong here? I want to stop any previous sound before playing current.

  • vb.net Is there a simple way to add a sound to a button click

    - by user867621
Is there a simple way of doing this I found this online and I am getting an error Declare Function apisndPlaySound Lib "winmm" Alias "sndPlaySoundA" _ (ByVal filename As String, ByVal snd_async As Long) As Long Function PlaySound(ByVal sWavFile As String) ' Purpose: Plays a sound. ' Argument: the full path and file name. If apisndPlaySound(sWavFile, 1) = 0 Then MsgBox("The Sound Did Not Play!") End If End Function A call to PInvoke function 'WindowsApplication3!WindowsApplication3.Module1::apisndPlaySound' has unbalanced the stack. This is likely because the managed PInvoke signature does not match the unmanaged target signature. Check that the calling convention and parameters of the PInvoke signature match the target unmanaged signature.

  • Android font out of view on small screen

    - by user581949
Hi Everyone I have several text views that take up the majority of the screen in landscape view in a relativelayout and the font size i have set is quite big (150dp). The text views are all timers and the furthest to the right is the "seconds" textview. My problem is that when testing on a phone with a small screen res the seconds are way outside the limit of the screen and can't be seen. They are in perfect place on normal to large screen resolutions just not on a small screen. Is there any way i can force the "seconds" text view to stay on screen, without adjusting the font size or margins between each text view? Even if it means looking cramped on a small screen i can live with that. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks This is the corresponding code:
