  • VPS hang when one Virtual CPU usage is 100%

    We are using Xen Center to manage all of our cPanel VPS servers. The hardware has two CPUs(Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU [email protected]) and 32GB memory. Each hardware has 4 cPanel VPS and each VPS has 8GB memory and 4 Virtual CPUS. Every one or two months, one of the VPS server will hang because one Virtual CPU usage is 100% and it couldn't release the CPU unless we use force reboot. We have 10 similar hardware, and this cause our server down almost every day. We have tried to avoid the Statistics Processing and Fantastico update during the night, but the problem still happens randomly. I can not find anything in the server log when it hangs. Any clue? Thank you.

    Google has led many useful Java features (guava, gson); now that Oracle has purchased Sun will it effect its future enhancements and utilization as a development language. What exactly, or even approximately, are the legal ramifications? I thought Java was open source and would therefore remain unaffected ... ? Should Google just buy Oracle to get rid of the whole mess, that would be cool wouldn't it ? Do you think this is the beginning of the end for Java as a widely used language ? Its continued success as an open source/free technology is now doubtful?

  • Dual 9500GT video cards, one works

    I have two video cards, both are PCIe 512MB Nvidia 9500GTs. One is an Evga and the other is another brand. If I put them both in, the one in the top slot will work (either card). The one in the lower slot says Code 12, not enough resources to use this device. I've tried disabling Firewire and a few other things in an attempt to get more "resources". Intel DP45SG motherboard. 4G Ram. 64bit Vista. Q8200 CPU. I do not have the SLI connector.

    Hello, I encountered strange setup on a network at company where I do some work. They have internet connection from small ISP located in the same building, all I see is one CAT5 cable with 2 RJ45 connectors. One is going to WAN port on the router and another into LAN port on the same router. This is the only way for internet connection to work. I tried to connect my laptop to one of the RJ45 but it won't work. Now, what is the purpose for such setup?

This is a question about the definition of a network from the OSI / TCP/IP model point of view: From one point of view, those are two L2 networks connected with a bridge. From another point of view, this is one L3 network, that can have a common L3 address space (like 10.1.1.0). PS If this question is too dumb, please move it to Superuser.

  • Maximize window in one display

    I'm using an NVIDIA Quadra FX 1700 card and have a dual monitor system. I want to maximize a window so that it is maximized in one monitor not across both monitors but I don't seem to have that as an option. Right now I just minimize & expand it so it fills one monitor at a time. Any suggestions? I'm using Windows XP Professional on a desktop. Maybe it's not possible since it seems that both monitors are connected to the graphics card and Windows only sees one monitor.

    Hi there, in my iPhone application I am using simple Core Data Model with two entities (Item and Property): Item name properties Property name value item Item has one attribute (name) and one one-to-many-relationship (properties). Its inverse relationship is item. Property has two attributes the according inverse relationship. Now I want to show my data in table views on two levels. The first one lists all items; when one row is selected, a new UITableViewController is pushed onto my UINavigationController's stack. The new UITableView is supposed to show all properties (i.e. their names) of the selected item. To achieve this, I use a NSFetchedResultsController stored in an instance variable. On the first level, everything works fine when setting up the NSFetchedResultsController like this: -(NSFetchedResultsController *) fetchedResultsController { if (fetchedResultsController) return fetchedResultsController; // goal: tell the FRC to fetch all item objects. I create a new Property instance via Property *p = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Property" inManagedObjectContext:self.moContext];, set up the relationships and call [self.moContext save:&error]. This seems to work, as error is still nil and the object gets saved (I can see the number of properties when logging the Item instance, see above). However, the delegate methods are not fired. This seems to me due to the possibly messed up fetchRequest(Controller). Any ideas? Did I mess up the second fetch request? Is this the right way to fetch all entities in a to-many-relationship for a particular instance at all?

  • Upon reboot, Linux software raid fails to include one device of a RAID1 array

    One of my four Linux software raid arrays drops one of its two devices when I reboot my system. The other three arrays work fine. I am running RAID1 on kernel version 2.6.32-5-amd64 (Debian Squeeze). Every time I reboot, /dev/md2 comes up with only one device. I can manually add the device by saying $ sudo mdadm /dev/md2 --add /dev/sdc1.     (I've copied this from Stack Overflow here, after someone suggested I post the question here) Hi, I'm trying to setup Tomcat6 to work with JMX on Windows Vista 64. To do that I need to pass the parameters below to Tomcat6. What I do in command prompt. (that doesn't work) set CATALINA_OPTS="-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=9898 -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false" tomcat6.exe What I do that does work (but causes other problems) java -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=9898 -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false -jar bootstrap.jar It seems as if tomcat is just ignoring the environment variable CATALINA_OPTS. Am I doing something wrong? I've also tried to edit catalina.bat and define the variable CATALINA_OPTS there. No success. (tried adding the parameters to JAVA_OPTS too, no success either) Thanks in Advance!!

  • Can't launch glassfish on ec2 - can't open port

    I'm trying to start glassfish on an EBS-based AMI of Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit. I have used glassfish on non-ec2 servers with no problems, but on ec2 I get this message: $ sudo -u glassfish bin/asadmin start-domain domain1 There is a process already using the admin port 4848 -- it probably is another instance of a GlassFish server. Command start-domain failed. I know that ec2 has requires that firewall rules be modified using ec2-authorize to let outside traffic thru the firewall, as I had to do to make ssh work. This still doesn't explain the port error when all I'm trying to do is start glassfish so I can try $ wget localhost:8080and make sure it's working. This is very frustrating and I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks. FINAL UPDATE: Sorry if you came here looking for answers. I never figured out what was causing the problem. I created another fresh instance, installed the same stuff, and Glassfish worked perfectly. Something obviously got boned during installation, but I have no idea what. I guess it will remain a mystery.   • autocomplete not working on one sever, works on others

    I have Ubuntu 10.10 x64 and x86 running on various servers and auto complete works on all of them bar one. The issue: apt-<tab> would show a list of options but sudo apt-<tab> would not. After fiddling with it for a few hours i've found that /etc/bash_autocomplete did not exist. on the broken server. Copying the one from a working one it now works. but still not properly. sudo apt-get ins<tab> does not show do anything. listing the files in /etc/bash_autocomplete.d/ on the working server has about 50 files, and the broken one only two or three. i dont think that i can just copy these files though as it might show commands for things that are not even installed. TL;DR autocomplete broken, how can i fix it. Seems like its disabled somewhere, why is this EDIT: Ok, it was not ever installed... $ sudo apt-get install bash-completion Reading package lists...     Hello, I have a list of date/timestamps, and I would like to plot these to a chart in Excel. What I'm looking for is a chart that shows "events per hour" or something similar. Can this be done easily if I just have one column of data (the list of timestamps)? I'm using excel 2007 and looking at two data sets. One is 56k events and the other 750, both over the span of a few days.

  • Bash or Zsh - which one and why?

    So, the question pretty much says it all. I'm on Snow Leopard, and I do a lot of web development, particularly in Rails 3 which makes heavy use of the console. I've seen some notable bloggers etc. mention Zsh as their preference over Bash, but I don't know what difference it would make. Could anyone give me a good comparison of what difference there is and what might make one prefer one option or the other? Thanks!
