No Editor in Directory Utility

I'm on OSX 10.6.8 and would like to enable the root user. I found Apple's KB article, however this point Click the lock in the Directory Utility window. Enter an administrator account name and password, then click OK. Choose Enable Root User from the Edit menu. is not possible, because there is no "Edit Menu" Icon! I'm logged in as admin, but I only see "Services" and "Search Policy". Repeat, I do not see the "Editor", it's just not there. What gives? How it should be: Directory Utility

Proffesional video editor that can handle FLV?

I tried Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 and was not able to open my file (unsupported format). Media player can open it thanks to ffdshow (tryouts IIRC). Premiere doesnt seem to want to use ffdshow. I tried renaming it to AVI and hoped Premiere would open it via ffdshow but it didnt and i checked and disabled the dont use ffdshow option in ffdshow video decoder option. What is a good proffesional video editor that can handle FLV? All ffmpeg based editors died on it and virtualdub got close but had a bad framerate. Probably bc it didnt know it was a streaming vid and the start is 26mins of 31min video. There are a lot of webdeveloper addons available, for Firefox, like firebug. But is there a html editor addon for Firefox. Which I can edit my website. Viewing the edits real-time (using localhost or via ftp?) and saving the edits(CTRL+S) I am currenlty using firebug and it would save a lot of time if I could save the (local) .html file using a firebug like addon!(or firebug itself?) I Found a firebug addon to save .css files... now just need one to save html, and I am good to go!

Is there an offline HTML editor for writers?

All of our writers and editors use Microsoft Word for document creation and a lot of what they create ends up on the Web. Is there a good offline editor with a flavor similar to Word that they could use to create their documents. Styling of the content should not be a concern, only producing semantic HTML (most documents they create could be done using only header and paragraph tags for instance). They have tried CKEditor and TinyMCE but it is still too foreign for them and it is online so they don't trust it not to lose their work.

Any program or editor in windows 7 to run ".md" files

I understand that '.md' is an extension for markdown format. While installing 'Grunt' from GitHub I see a lot of .md extension files inside node_module/grunt/docs folder. As per my understanding these files are supported by GitHub for documentation kind of things if I am not wrong. My question here is - Are there any editors/tools or programs available for Windows 7 where I can see these .md files executing ? When I try to open any of these file inside my text editor it displays in raw format with all '#" etc. keywords. I want to see the formatted version of these files so that without an internet connection also I can navigate the documentation on my machine. Thanks for helping !!

Very simple video editor.

Hi First of all, I must to say that I don't know anything about video editing. I'm a total noob in this field. I need to make a screencast. Actually, I have made the desktop recording and I have some shorts videos in mp4 format to work with it. Thats what I need: Cut some fragments of the videos Join the selected portions into a big video Make some transicions in the cutting points (A simple fade will do the job) Put some text in the bottom of the videos during a few seconds making explanations Adding fragments of sound from a mp3/wav record Thats all... Eclipse Juno Switch Editor in Order

In case it matters: OS: Mac OS X Lion (10.7.4) Eclipse: Juno, Build id: 20120614-1722 I have several files open in my eclipse workspace as tabs. The default shortcuts for previous and next editors are ?F6 and ?shiftF6. I know how to change these shortcuts, that's not the issue. However, what I want to do, is switch between editors in the way in which they're ordered in the tab bar. Currently, the editors change in order of last used/viewed. So, if I had three files (A, B and C in order) open and I'm currently editing A and I edited B last, when I use the shortcut for "Previous Editor", it takes me to B instead of C (and vice versa). Is there any way for me to get this functionality out of eclipse (if so, how)? Thank you

mac os x default editor for .dotsystemfiles

This is a seemingly simple question but I can't find an answer so far despite search quite a bit. I'd like that when I open a .dotsystemfile in finder (i.e. .htaccess or .vimrc) it opens in a different editor than textedit. Doing the regular change-all in the info panel won't do the trick as it gives the following error: " An error occurred while changing the application that opens “.vimrc” because not enough information is available. Do you want to open “.vimrc” with “MacVim.app”? " This isn't a huge issue but it is like a small splinter that I've love removed. Thanks for any helpful information.

SQL 05 full-text query fails "Specified module could not be found."

I'm running SQL 2005 on Windows XP. I have a database table that has full text searching enabled. I was able to build and even re-build the index. However, when I try to query it like this: Select * from fulltext_english WHERE CONTAINS(page_data, 'causes') I get this error: Msg 7619, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 The execution of a full-text query failed. "The specified module could not be found." Did I miss something on the install? Is this a dll issue? I've googled and binged for days and can't find anything similar to this message. Thanks!

Changing the Settings item description text color in Android?

I use a Samsung Vibrant, and one of the annoying bits that Samsung tossed on their TouchWiz skin was changing the color of the Settings menu item description text from white (AOSP) to light blue. This looks okay as long as the skin is bluey-themed, but most ROMs seem to be leaning toward Gingerbread clones... doesn't look good with the green. How can I change that settings description font color back to white, or even the orange it is in actual Android 2.3? Which xml file is the color property located in? It seems to also spread to all apps you install, too... the blue text.

what is a fast way to output h5py dataset to text?

I am using the h5py python package to read files in HDF5 format. (e.g. somefile.h5) I would like to write the contents of a dataset to a text file. For example, I would like to create a text file with the following contents: 1,20,31,75,142,324,78,12,3,90,8,21,1 I am able to access the dataset in python using this code: import h5py f = h5py.File('/Users/Me/Desktop/thefile.h5', 'r') group = f['/level1/level2/level3'] dset = group['dsetname'] My naive approach is too slow, because my dataset has over 20000 entries: # write all values to file for index in range(len(dset)): # do not add comma after last value if index == len(dset)-1: txtfile.write(repr(dset[index])) else: txtfile.write(repr(dset[index])+',') txtfile.close() return None Is there a faster way to write this to a file? Perhaps I could convert the dataset into a NumPy array or even a Python list, and then use some file-writing tool? (I could experiment with concatenating the values into a larger string before writing to file, but I'm hoping there's something entirely more elegant)

Bash: any command to replace strings in text files?

I have a hierarchy of directories containing many text files. I would like to search for a particular text string every time it comes up in one of the files, and replace it with another string. For example, I may want to replace every occurrence of the string "Coke" with "Pepsi". Does anyone know how to do this? I am wondering if there is some sort of Bash command that can do this without having to load all these files in an editor, or come up with a more complex script to do it. I found this page explaining a trick using sed, but it doesn't seem to work in files in subdirectories.

I've inherited some C# code that contains about a thousand lines of source that I need to modify, transforming it from this: newDataRow["to_dir"] = comboBox108.Text; To this: assetAttributes.Add("to_dir", comboBox108.Text); The lines occur in various places throughout the application in groups of 40 or 50. Modifying each line by hand in Visual Studio 2008 can be done but it's labor intensive and prone to errors. Is there a Windows utility out there that will let me cut and paste groups of code into it and then run some sort of reg-ex expression to transform the individual lines one-by-one? I'd also be willing to use some sort of VS 2008 add-in that performed the same set of reg-ex operations against a selection of code. Thanks in advance.

Long lines of text in source code [closed]

Possible Duplicate: Is the 80 character limit still relevant in times of widescreen monitors? I used to set a vertical line set at 80 characters in my text editor and then I added carriage returns if the lines got too long. I later increased the value to 135 characters. I started using word wrap and not giving myself a limit but tried to keep lines short if I could because it took a lot of time shortening my lines. People at work use word wrap and don't give themselves a limit.. is this the correct way? What are you meant to do ? Many thanks.

I've got an html table: <table><tr> <td>M1</td> <td>M2</td> <td>M3</td> <td>M4</td> </tr></table> and a simple jQ script: $('td').click(function(){ alert( $(this).html() ); }); That works just fine.... but in the real world, I've got several hundred table cells and the code is formatted improperly in places because of several people editing the page. So if the html is: <td> M1 </td> then the alert() is giving me all the tabs and returns and spaces: What can I do to get ONLY the text without the tabs and spaces? I've tried .html(), .val(), .text() to no avail. Thanks!

Can't change text color in Microsoft Word 2010

I have Microsoft Office 2010 32-bit running on Windows 7 32-bit. When text is highlighted and a color is selected from the mini-toolbar or the ribbon, the text does not change color. If I change the color for multiple words, and select a different color for each word, the toolbar and ribbon will reflect each of the different colors that I chose, however it is not displayed in the document. So it appears that Word is aware of the text color and not as if it is simply not applying the change. What may be causing this inability to view text colors and how might I fix it? My only troubleshooting attempt so far has been to perform a repair installation of Office. EDIT 1 I created a document, typed a word, selected it and changed the color. I then saved the document as HTML. The text did not change color. Oddly, I had some strange issues while the macro was recorded. I could not select text with my cursor. I had to select the text with control a and then apply the color change. I then couldn't deselect the selected text. Nonetheless, the text showed that it had a different color in the toolbar, but the color did not display in the document. Here's the macro: Sub Change_Text_Color() ' ' Change_Text_Color Macro ' ' Selection.TypeText Text:="Test Text" Selection.WholeStory Selection.WholeStory End Sub EDIT 3 I opened WordPad and created some text and was able to successfully change the color. If I copy and paste the colored text into a Word 2010 document, the color is lost. However, if you place the I-beam in the text and then look at the color selection drop-down menu on the ribbon or mini-toolbar, you can see that the proper color that the text should be in is highlighted. Edit 4 I uninstalled the entire Office 2010 Suite, rebooted and then reinstalled the suite. No change in behavior. Edit 5 Text cannot be colored in Excel either.

For those of you who may have missed it, Peter Flies, Principal Technical Support Engineer for WebCenter Content, gave an excellent webcast on database searching and indexing in WebCenter Content. It's available for replay along with a download of the slidedeck. Look for the one titled 'WebCenter Content: Database Searching and Indexing'. One of the items he led with...and concluded with...was a recommendation on optimizing your search collection if you are using full-text searching with the Oracle database. This can greatly improve your search performance. And this would apply to both Oracle Text Search and DATABASE.FULLTEXT search methods. Peter describes how a collection can become fragmented over time as content is added, updated, and deleted. Just like you should defragment your hard drive from time to time to get your files placed on the disk in the most optimal way, you should do the same for the search collection.
